when i try to install i-tunes i get error 1714 - older version of i-tunes cannot be removed. Contact technical support group. Any ideas????????????

hmmmm. okay, let's try starting with something simple. try a complete uninstall of any existing itunes and QT on the PC prior to the new install. there's instructions on that in this document:

I am trying to install Adobe XI Pro, but it will not install. The error message is 1714 - the older version of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro can't be removed. I tried uninstalling all other Adobe Programs but it will not uninstall, saying The patch package could not be opened. Install Error 1714

I currently have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard on my PC running Windows XP. I want to upgrade and have downloaded the trial version of Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro. During the install I received "Error 1714" "The older version of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro cannot be removed" I do not have an older version of Acrobat 9 on my computer. I've tried several times and get the same error message. Can anybody help?

Well try and delete following files and folders of adobe and then try instalklation again.

Error 1714,can't remove old NSU, Any idea?

Reccently I want to update my N95 to the lastest firmware, and I have the pc suit installed, but I can't get the NSU installed.
I have a error 1714, saying can't removed the old NSU, install failed.
I had tried unstall pc suit, deleted all the folders, do a registery clean, install pc suit again, still didn't work.
any ideas?

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Itunes for windows error 1714

Need help trying to upgrade itunes for windows, i get to a certain point and the following error comes up "ERROR 1714: THE OLD VERSION OF ITUNES CANNOT BE REMOVED CONTACT YOUR TECHNICAL SUPPORT GROUP" i click ok and then another error comes up "ERROR 1603 FATAL ERROR" can anybody help Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found the solution by searching the archives for "1714".

Install this, then run it and remove the old copy of iTunes or QuickTime. Works for me!

I am trying to download the new version of Itunes; when I am about half way through the installation process, I get an error saying "Error 1714. The older version of iTunes cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group." Does anybody know how to fix this,

this is definitely an error message that is coming from the iTunes installer, not from Windows.
actually, this one is a Windows Installer error message. it's just being returned in the context of an itunes install. see:

given that you've only got SP1 in there, let's just make doubly sure that you've got a copy of Windows Installer 3.1v2 on the PC. (there are odd problems associated with 3.1v1 and earlier versions.)
Windows Installer 3.1 v2 (3.1.4000.2435) is available
then let's try something else one more time. first download and install the Windows Cleanup installer utility (we'll be using it later on):
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
then download and save a fresh copy of the itunes installer to your harddrive. (eventually, we'll be running the install from there rather than online.)
iTunes 6.0.1.3 Installer
switch off any antivirus or antispyware applications prior to any installs or uninstalls.
now, use the complete uninstall instructions given here to uninstall any existing itunes or Quicktime:
Troubleshooting iTunes, iPod Software, and QuickTime installation on Windows
... then run the Installer CleanUp utility to just make sure any leftover installation registry entries for itunes and quicktime have been removed.
reboot.
switch antivirus and antispyware off again. then run the install again, using the fresh installer.
do you get an error message this time? if so, what does it say? (include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

Error 1714 when re-installing iTunes

I had an issue removing iTunes and now when I re-install I get an error:
"1714: The older version of iTunes cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group"
it then gives another error:
"error: - 1603 Fatal error during installation"
I've gone through the registry and manually removed any links to "iTunes" and still no luck.

if it's another error, what does it say?
if it goes through, will the itunes install go through after that? (take the same precautions as you took on the QT install.)

I have updated my PC Suite with the last version from the Internet. Since that time I cannot connect my phone 6234 with my PC. I de-installed PC Suite and cleaned registry with yr latest registry clean version 3. Then I have tried to install only cable driver (the latest version 6_82_7_eng) and I get error 1714, informing that an earlier version has been detected. I deleted all registry entries for Nokia.
Pls, informe me, why I cannot install new cable software, and what I have to do. What kind of registry entries do not allow me to install new software?

Hi, I have a N80 and the last PcSuite, the PcSuite work fine under bluetooth connection but don't work by USB, after erasing and reinstaling some times and running pcsuit cleaner, i try to install the Nokia Connectivity Cable driver and give me this error: Error 1714. The older version of Nokia Connectivity Driver cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. If very uninstall fails, then the best thing to do is to download the Windows Clean up Utility
and remove the software completely. I am attaching the installer file, please rename to exe and then run the set up.
After that please install the windows installer

Error 1714 & 1603 - Still causing problems despite some great posts!

Although this is not a new problem I'm posting it here again as a new thread as I have yet to find solution (and it's driving me crazy!). When attempting to install iTunes, I get the following dialogue box:-
Error 1714. The older version of iTunes cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. (OK that message box and another message box appears) Error 1603. Fatal error during installation (OK that message box out) and the setup wizard then rolls back.
I have searched through nearly 50 other threads and followed every instruction to the letter (but to no avail).
So far I have attempted the following (and more);
Deactivating antivirus and spyware using msconfig.
Installing and uninstalling Quicktime separately (I have tried this with versions 6 and 7).
Downloading a fresh version of iTunes.
Cleaning windows folders of any undeleted program files etc.
Cleaning temporary directories.
Installing the latest version of Windows Installer.
Automatically cleaning the registry using a registry cleaner.
Manually cleaning the registry using Regedit.
Downloading + using Windows INstall Clean UP
+ anything else that the other threads suggested.
Can anyone help me?
I'm using a HP Pavilion notebook with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 and SP 2. This came pre-installed with ITunes 4.7 which I subsequently removed.

After several hours of frustration with this I finally gave up and opted for a reinstall of Windows (fortunately I have an external hard drive to back up to).
This solved the problem and iTunes installed perfectly without hitch.
If you encounter this problem I hope you have more luck than me!

Then i got another, Error 1603, saying itunes.msi was not found or something like that. what must be done? I use a iPod Shuffle.

hmmmm. let's first try completely uninstalling your itunes and QT using the instructions given here:

if you run into trouble on the uninstall, try using the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:

... and even if you don't run into trouble on the uninstall, run CleanUp anyway to make sure you've removed any leftover QT/itunes installation registry entries.
then let's try another itunes reinstall. download and save a fresh copy of the installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than on-line.) switch off any antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

Error 1714. The older version of QuickTime cannot be removed. - Fix

I ran into this problem when I was installing the latest version of i-Tunes. Because i-Tunes requires QuickTime I researched for hours. I couldn't un-install QuickTime, it wasn't showing up in a software list to uninstall. I used Regedit to remove all of the "QuickTime" entries in the registry. Restarted my computer, still no luck.
One thing that I did I ran the Quickertime installer from a DOS prompt and added /le file.txt
This creates a log file with all the error during the installation.
This gave me the follow error in the file:

Error 1714. The older version of QuickTime cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. System Error 1610.

Again this is what I to searched for the errors with on luck.
I ran the Quicktime installer again, this time I used the /l* file2.txt. This logs everything during the installation.
I searched this file for where the errors were and found this:

Then in the registry removed the entry 50D8FFDD-90CD-4859-841F-AA1961C7767A in the HKLM\Software\Classes\Installer\Products directory.
!!!!Make a backup of your registry if you are unfamiliar with regedit.

Cannot install Java update or uninstall old version (Java error 1714)

Hello,
When I try to install a Java upadate it fails. When doing the installation for the new version from java.com it gives the message (translated form Dutch):
+"The function you wish to use is located on a networked location which is not available. Click OK to try again or type in the field below another path to where installation package jre1.6.0_26-c-l.msi is located"+
When I cancel the installation it gives the following message:
+"Error 1714. The older version of Java(TM) 6 update 31 cannot be removed. Contact you technical support group."+
I tried the solution according to Java located at http://www.java.com/nl/download/help/error_1714.xml where it says to delete the java installation first and then install the offline package. The only problem is that I cannot seem to uninstall the current installation in my remove software list. The version there is called"Java(TM) 6 Update 29". When I want to uninstall this it gives the same message when installing the update:

I tried to get rid of the entire java installation by using:
- Scanned for blocking virusses, no virruses found
- JavaRa did not succeed in deleting current version
- Tried installing to offline package, no success
- Running all steps in administrator mode
None of it any succes. None of the Java using websites seem to work anymore and I can't seem to fix this. Anybody know of a solution?
