Error 175 .- CC needs admin right to install or remove add-ons - Windows 7 -

Sync files is turned on and I updated all my CC apps but can't install the Kuler extension for PS CC 2014 and other add-ons.  Also, constantly getting pop-up  notification "Need Admin Rights to install add-ons"."Error 175 " "Installation failed" . Windows 7, desktop & laptop.  Please help to resolve this issue. Thanks. Giulio

In my understanding, you have acquired some add-ons at https://creative.adobe.com/addons, but Adobe Creative Cloud application failed to install them due to that you didn't provide the administrator right.
You can restart Adobe Creative Cloud application, then it will try to re-install all the failed add-ons, and the notification will pop-up again. You can click it and provide the administrator right.

This is covered elsewhere but you should enter your admin password and that should enable the install. Further details and solutions are in this thread:

  • Do I need admin rights to install jdk?

Hi I tried to download and install jdk 1.4 from java.sun.com, but after installation found out that just the jre part of ht einstallation was successful. The jdk is not installed so I can only run java classes but cannot compile any code.
Is this becasue I may not be logged in as an admin. Please help.
    thanks,
    nik

It's best that you have admin rights to install jdk...
    What OS are you using?

  • App that need admin rights

I have an app they the support people state you need to login in as admin to run. I can confirm this. Even when I virtualized the app I still could not run it as a non-admin. I made a ZEN app and run it as a unsecure system user.
I think the software is poorly made, but do not have any choice.
Is there something is ZAV to make it run as a admin that I am missing?? The thing is we may be moving away from ZEN 7 to something else, but will still use ZAV.
    M

$(UIt really depends on what the app is trying to do. One of the core benefits of ZAV is not having to be admin to deploy applications. For example, if an app needs to read/write from System 32, this can be done in the Virtual System 32.
The app may be checking the rights on the logged in user and seeing if it's in the Administrators group. If that is the case, virtualization will not help you.

  • I'm the admin and yet it says I need admin privileges to install games?

In fact, there are no other users on this brand spanking new laptop and it says admin under my name?!?!
And yet whenever I try to install games from the Apple downloads section, it simply said I need admin privileges to install the software...
Is it a Snow Leopard issue or a MacBook issue? I wasn't sure, so I posted it here.
    Please help.

I'm having the same problem with Diner Dash. It doesn't even give you the prompt to give the password. All it says is "This installer needs admin privileges to download." And the only button it gives you is quit. I've tried a bunch of different things from deleting the guest account to taking the password off my computer, nothing is working.
I also set everyone to read & write under applications, I even added myself and an admin user since, in the beginning, it didn't have them and it's still not working. It has system, wheel, and everyone. I even checked out the Read me that comes with the disk, wondering if there was this problem known before and the section "Known Problems" says None under it, which doesn't help. I opened up the file inside the installer too and tried working with terminal, nothing is working.

  • Itune needs administrator rights to install updates in win xp sp 3

I have an issue with ITunes application with user profile and administartor profile. ITunes needs administrator right to install updates.
Under normal user profile , ITunes not able to install any updates.
It required manual works from administartor to run the application as "Administrator". Application level permission ( itunes.exe ) has full rights to the user,
but still ITunes needs administrator rights.
Please advise on how to install iTunes updates without Administrator rights.

It can't find the uninstaller. Use Revo uninstaller for the PCSuite and all Nokia related driver software and clean the registry with Ccleaner.

    All,
A very interesting NOTE to this thread. In order to try and get the "ignore permissions" box to show up in GET INFO (so I could execute Matt the Magician's solution to file sharing issues)-- I ran the terminal command for disabling ACLs on my internal HD / start up disk (as indicated in the linked thread to BDAqua's forum).
Although I understand that this was useless for disabling permissions on the start up disk (as everyone here pointed out) and allowing me to see the "ignore permissions" check box - somehow it did seem to fix my file sharing problem...and that was the root problem I wanted solved in the first place! After doing the terminal command and a quick reboot, I went in and tested file sharing on the chosen directory and I can create new files or work from existing files in the directory, with both users being able to modify / and save from both machines and each machine sees the revisions and can build from them. Bottom line - I'm stoked and want to thank everyone for their help.
The only other tweak I made was going over to my wife's machine and instead of using her log in / password, I just used my name and password to connect to my main machine that was sharing directories. Maybe that's what fixed the problem or the ACL disable but either way...I'm up and running the way I want to be.
Hope this thread helps anyone else who has these file sharing / permissions issues with Leopard. Especially for anyone wanting to do such a simple file sharing set up between 2 computers. I wish I understood exactly which tweak fixed the problem, but at least it works the way I want now.
So happy to be done w/this one!
Thx everyone. Any additional input on what solved it is welcome, so my curiosity is quelled...

  • FF crashing immediately. FF updated, admin mode allowed, hardware acceleration disabled, add-ons disabled

FF crashing immediately in regular mode-- ID: 132f75b1-9f3e-46b7-9b43-74e4b2121121. FF updated, admin mode allowed, hardware acceleration disabled, add-ons disabled.
FF opens in Safe Mode, but otherwise crashes repeatedly upon opening. FF was working for up to half hour, but today (especially since FF v.17 update) crashes immediately. Along with repeated FF crashes, Win 7 crashes (less often) with a variety of notes on each crash.
    (email removed by mod)

Thanks for your response, cor-el. I had already unchecked the "Use hardware acceleration when available," yesterday, before posting here.
I had also selected ''Run as administrator,'' but I see that is now unchecked. A skilled friend tried to help overnight & may have unchecked it. She also appears to have "unchecked" the "Use hardware hardware acceleration when available," so I have, again, unchecked it.
My friend wearily said I would be unable to open the browser this morning, but it worked fine for ~10 minutes... and then Windows crashed. Firefox is working fine in Win7 Safe-Mode & fortunately did not crash before Win7-itself in regular-mode.
I'll try Win7 regular-mode, again. After working awhile, my browser froze (cursor wouldn't move). Signing back into Win7 regular-mode, FF quickly crashed twice.

    Help!
GrFinger is an SDK put out by Grauile (or something like that) just seach grfinger in google, you'll find it.
    Thanks

Don't you think you should really contact Grauile ?
They wrote the software, including the native DLL libraries, and probably encountered this problem before on dual processor machines.

  • First time client opens java needs admin rights to download, any way to push java runtime from ARD and open so they don't have to have admin credentials?

    Hey guys,
I am the IT admin for Macs in our company. When we put a brand new image on a client machine, it works perfectly. I can install and run packages using ARD. For Java however, when a client opens something required by java it says it needs to download the java runtime etc etc... It requires admin rights to download and install. My Users do not have admin privileges to install things.
Does Apple have the packages they install the javaruntime with on the internet to download as a .pkg or something similar? I was not able to find one that I could use and push through Apple Remote Desktop. Any suggestions?
Basically I need a way to have javaruntime on a machine without me needing to log into each computer individually to download it or needing to give admin rights to the users.
    Thanks!

Nevermind; I found a standalone installed located at:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421
I install this through ARD before running any update features or anything so the end-user will not have to type in admin credentials since I can do this from my side of things now.

  • Why does App Manager think I need Admin privileges to install updates?

I'm a Creative Cloud subscriber, and when I open apps (such as Muse) I get a message to install upgrades (or not). If I ask to install, I'm asked for login and password info, which is then refused and I get an error message that I need Admin privileges. So the install fails.
I can log in to this site using my login and password, so that's not the problem. I can also open the application (without the upgrades) but these are listed as being time-sensitive: only available until, for example, June 14. But there's no way for me to install these new releases. HELP!!!

It's down to where the updates are writing their files / registry keys. For example, installing/updating the Flash Player runtime has always required admin access as the file lives within the operating system folder tree (on Windows it's in system32/Macromed). Registry-wise, Adobe places keys in HKCU and HKLM - the latter is read-only for normal users.
If you're managing a network with enterprise-licensed software, there are tools for Creative Cloud that permit an IT manager to build offline deployment packs for the base installers and updates. If your users have retail copies of CC, that isn't an option and everything has to be managed on a per-machine basis.

  • AIR runtime and AIR applications built using Captive Runtime still need Admin Privilege to Install

I am working on a small project to install AIR application(native .exe & .dmg) with AIR runtime without needing the Administrator privilege so I used Captive runtime but the installation is still asking for admin privilege
I bundled AIR application with AIR runtime using Captive runtime from flash builder 4.6, then I packaged this into a .MSI using Advanced Installer. Now when I install it for a user without admin privilege it prompts me for Admin credentials.
Can you please tell me if
    1. I need AIR distribution license to install AIR runtime without Admin privilege
    2. Do I need a different installer
    3. Am I missing any step here
    Thank you

If you're installing to a location where Windows requires elevated privileges, like Program Files, you'll need to have admin privileges to continue.  Are you using an AIR based native installer or have you taken the application with the captive runtime and rolled this up in your own installer?
Here's a section from the Installation and deployment options in Adobe AIR 3 article that might help:
    Installation privileges
When designing an installer, one has the option to choose from approaches that may or may not require administrative privilege. For example, a drag-and-drop install on Mac OS X requires no special privilege; users can always copy the application into their own application folders, for which they have the necessary permissions. On the other hand, if registry keys must be written to the machine-specific portion of the registry on Windows, installation of that application will require administrative privilege to do so.
The two installer formats directly supported by AIR, AIR files and native installers, have always required administrative privilege. This was a design decision made in part to simplify the implementation of the AIR installers: If administrative privilege is assumed to be available, implementation is possible if the registry can be written to, and so on. It was also selected because, in many enterprises, this is the desired behavior: administrators can use the privilege requirement to gate software installation.
All the same, there are scenarios where supporting installation without requiring administrative privileges is desirable, or even necessary. This can now be achieved using custom installers; you simply need to author an installer that operates correctly with only standard user privilege. In practice this can be easy to achieve; a simple install-by-copy to a writable location (that is, in the user's own folder) will suffice. Should you author a more complex installer, you should keep in mind that the addition of certain operations during the install process will in turn reintroduce the requirement for administrative privileges.

  • Admin rights to install AIR apps on Windows?

    Hi
I have the  AIR framework 1.5 already installed on a Windows XP PC.
After this, are admin/power-user rights required to install AIR apps on the same machine to the "My Documents" folder? I would assume NO. Pls clarify.
If admin rights are required, are there ways to disable certain install features (Add/Remove control panel entry etc) to remove this admin requirement?
    Thanks in advance

You must have the correct permissions to install anything.  This includes AIR applications.
