Error 1921: Stopping Services

During the middle of the installation and error pops up, tittled 1921. The error says I need to verify my Apple Services something. Can somebody please help me? Thank You.

I'm having the exact same problem.
Here's my situation: I downloaded iTunes a few years ago, never thinking I would get an iPod. It's version 4 or so. Now I just got an iPod and I needed to update to the newest iTunes because iTunes 4 wouldn't recognize the iPod. I try to install and it stops at "Stopping Services", then after a little while this error pops up:
"Error 1921.Service iPod Service (iPodService) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services."
I click Retry and it happens again. I click Cancel and it exits.
I tried to uninstall thru Control Panel, and the exact same thing happens: it stops at "Stopping Services" and the same error pops up.
I still have dial-up, and I have some songs that I haven't downloaded yet. I wonder if this has anything to do with it...
Please, if anyone can help, this is driving me nuts! Thanks.

• Error 1921 Ipod Service could not be stopped

I am trying to install Itunes 7.6 + Quicktime. On the download status screen it says Status: Stopping Service. The green activity bar stops and after awhile an error message pops up that says - Error 1921. Ipod Service could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services. It says retry and cancel. Pushing retry only results in the same error. I don't know what this means.

That can happen sometimes if the iTunes installer is having a hard time shutting down either iTunes or QuickTime (or applications using QuickTime) prior to the install. So let's try a "download, restart, then install” strategy.
Leave any iPod unplugged.
Download and save a copy of the iTunes installer to your hard drive. (Do not run the install on line, and do not start the install by clicking on the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file just yet.)
Latest iTunes Installer
Shut down running applications and restart the PC.
Do not open any other applications prior to attempting the iTunes install. Switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.
Does the install go through properly this time?

• "Error 1921. Service '***' could not be stopped"

Hello,
After a few crashes from Ni MAX and troubles detecting by GPIB devices, I thought it would be a good idea to do a few updates on my VISA drivers, NI488.2, etc.
But when I run the NI update service on these, I get an error message ressembling the image below. Only thing different is that it complains it cannot stop the NI Lxi discovery service instead of the Ni mDNS Responder service. I then tried to run the Ni repair utility on MAX and a few relevant software modules like VISA and 488.2, only to get the error displayed below.
I tried running the command "net stop niLXIDiscovery" in a cmd prompt with no success. It simply tells me that the service is already stopping...
FYI, I have both LabView 2013 32 and 64 bit installed and both TestStand 2014 32 and 64 bit installed. I only use Ethernet and GPIB to communicate with my instruments.
Thank you!

Hi christianb,
In the list of services that can be accessed from the Contorl Panel, what is the startup type of the NI LXI Discovery Service? If it is automatic, would it be possible to change the type to manual and restart the computer? This would allow us to stop this service after the reboot of the computer and to continue to use the Update Service.
Are you the adminstrator of this machine?

• Error 1921

I'm hoping someone can help.
I tried to install Itunes 7.2 and received the following error message "Error 1921. Service ipod service (Ipod service) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficent privilges to stop system services".
I also tried to remove/unintall Itunes to start over and received the same reply.
Anyone have any ideas?

actually, the 1921s and 1920s discussed in that document referenced the BonJour Service rather than the iPod Service. no itunes installer bundle but the 5.0.0.35 included a standalone BonJour application, so no other versions get that particular version of the 1921 error.
Quite often with 1920s and 1921s citing the iPod Service, what's going on is a result of the itunes installer having a hard time shutting down applications using QuickTime (itunes, the QT control panel, QuickTime itself, or sometimes web browsers). what can help with that is a a "download, restart, then install strategy."
leave your ipod unplugged.
download and save a copy of the itunes installer to your hard drive. (do not run the install on line, and do not start the install by clicking on the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file just yet.)
iTunes 7.1.1.5 Installer
shut down running applications and restart the PC.
do not open any other applications prior to attempting the iTunes install. switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.

• Error 1921, also unable to uninstall itunes??? Help Please!!

I have a shuffle and itunes installed on my PC. I am trying to download the new software and keep getting the ERROR 1921, iPod service cannot be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services.
I have deleted all iPod and Quicktime programs from my computer, but when I try to remove the itunes program I get that same error, service cannot be stopped.
Please help!!

I deleted all iPod, iTunes and QuickTime files. I did this by My Computer> Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> highlight each program and click remove. If the computer asks you to restart, say no. Don't restat till all files are deleted. Then after I restarted I went to My Computer> Program Files> right click any IPod, iTunes, QuickTime files. Right click on Recycle Bin and click empty Recycle bin. then I restarted the computer and downloaded iTunes 7.0 again. This time it worked. I got this information from the support site, but it was difficult to find.

No, just uninstall the MobileMe control panel. All Mobileme services have been discontinued, so the control panel is not doing you any good being in there at present.

• Failover Cluster in SQL 2012 in not auto switch when stop service SQL

Good Morning to all,
I'm Mr.Tuyen from VietNam. I have a big problem with AlwaysOn High Availabity in SQL 2012.
I setup 3 server and join Availabilty Group. Ex: Server A (Primary), Server B (Secondary), Cluster Qourum is only node. I have test:
1. Stop service SQL server A, immediately server B is Primary
Start servicel SQL server A, Server A is secondary
2. Stop service SQL server B, server is not Primary and "status is Resloving" and role cluster failed with error as belows
Clustered role 'XXX' has exceeded its failover threshold. It has exhausted the configured number of failover attempts within the failover period of time allotted to it and will be left in a failed state. No additional attempts will be made to bring the role
online or fail it over to another node in the cluster. Please check the events associated with the failure. After the issues causing the failure are resolved the role can be brought online manually or the cluster may attempt to bring it online again after
the restart delay period.
or
The Cluster service failed to bring clustered role 'XXX' completely online or offline. One or more resources may be in a failed state. This may impact the availability of the clustered role.
Do you have same error?

• OS error in starting service OracleMTSRecoveryService

I am facing the Following Problem when Installing Oracle 11g Release2 database at Microsoft Window 32-bidt
OS error in starting service OracleMTSRecoveryService
Note: Once I have already ionstalled this database on same machine and after that I deleted it from my D drive manually by stopping this services. Now after some data I am againg installing it ; but there is this error.
Please help me how to solve this problem.
Thanks in Advance.
Yassen

'OS error' is not so convincing, check the eventlog for the reason behind. Possibly you don't need this service,if you don't use MTS:
ORACLEMTSRecoveryService allows Oracle databases to be used as resource managers in Microsoft Transaction Server.
So the quick and dirty workaround deactivate the service.

• Error 1923. Service 'Input File Repository Server' (BOBJInputFileServer) co

I get the following error:
Error 1923. Service 'Input File Repository Server' (BOBJInputFileServer) could not be installed.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.
I am trying to perform the install as an admin. I previously had the server installed but had to uninstall and now I cannot re-install. how would I do a complete uninstall of all registry components, etc. if necessary?

Ok. Please open the services browser (Start->Programs->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services) and check if there are any BOBJ services still listed (like the Input File Repository Server).
If you find any services still listed, please use instsrv.exe to remove them (even if the services are stopped and/or deactivated). Try to install again after you have removed all BOBJ related services.

• Error 1920. Service 'Windows Font Cache Service' (FontCache) failed to start

Hi,
I've been trying for weeks now to try to get Office Professional Plus 2013 to install on Windows 8 Pro. My system has been running perfectly otherwise.

I have tried everything I can think of, and everything on every thread I've found on related topics. No luck. If I try to start the service myself via services.msc I get the following message:
The Windows Font Cache Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some Services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. Any assistance anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Hi micrey! It works!
1. Type “services.msc” into the Start Search
bar and hit Enter.
2. Find the Windows Font Cache Service, select
it and hit “Stop”.
3. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to “C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local”
requires admin privileges
4. Delete the FontCache dat files. (They will
be regenerated over time.)
5. Restart the Windows Font Cache Service.
Thank you!
