Error 1935 - unable to install Reader 8.1.2 on Vista SP1

I know that others have posted on this issue, but neither of the suggested fixes have worked for me. The 'fsutil' command prompt had no effect, and Ghaurav's suggestion of defeating the uninstall by copying all the files from the directory and replacing them resulted in an 'invalid plugin' error every time I tried to start Reader.
Is anyone from Adobe monitoring this forum? Any others out there having this problem, or have a fix?

OK, the final chapter. Microsoft tech support had me run a system file checker utility. The command line is 'sfc /scannow'. The utility reported that I had corrupt system files, but I still have no idea how that happened. I was unable to roll back the installation of Vista SP1, so I ended up reinstalling Vista (and every other program I have) from scratch. It took a full day of installing, upgrading restoring my backed up files, but I ended up with a clean version of Vista SP1, and the adobe problem is gone.
Does this story have a happy ending? No. I decided to run SFC on my laptops. I have corrupt system files on my office laptop, and it's interfering with installing XP SP3. No other symptoms, so I'll ignore XP SP3 for as long as I can.

    Hi pat27,
Are you still facing this issue?
Do you have any previous version of Reader installed, if yes and it is 9 or above. Uninstall that using Adobe Reader cleaner tool:  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Once that is uninstalled restart your machine and try install again.
Also you may try to create a new user profile with Admin rights and try to install again.

  • Unable to Install VS 2013.4 on Windows 7 SP1 system

Over the last few day and long nights, I have tried several times to load VS 2013.4 on my Win 7 Home Premium SP1 PC with no success.  I have tried several packages including VS Community, Web, and Desktop.  Tried multiple download sites and even
copied the .iso images locally.  Every time I install I get the following message during the install...
MS ASP.net and Web Tools 2013.4 - Visual Studio Express 2013 for Web Package Failed
    and
MS ASP.net Web Pages2 run time package failed.
I have verified the check sums on the .iso image I downloaded and they match,  I have registered .DLL's, disabled anti virus & Firewall options, uninstalled KB2918614, ran the MSI "Mr. Fix it" for .net framework, and a few other I can't
    think of at the moment.
When I attempt to run VS I also get "The operation could not be completed.  No such interface supported."  I'm at a loss on what to do so I thought I would ask for a  little help in resolving my issues. Hope you folks can help
    Thanks in Advance...

  • Reader 9.0 issues with Vista SP1??

Have been running free Reader 9.0 for sometime now. I am running on Windows Vista Business and recently installed Vista SP1. I now find Reader 9.0 cannot open my pdf files. Message window states "Adobe Reader 9.0 has stopped working". Have uninstalled and reinstalled Reader 9.0 but the problem still persists.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Adobe Support declined to assist since my version of Adobe 9.0 was a free download. They did state, however, that there was a "technical problem" and suggested I visit the support forum site (hence the message dated 23 Dec).
In the meantime I have uninstalled Adobe Reader 9.0 and installed Adobe Reader 8.0 - I now do not have a problem.
There is obviously an issue between Adobe Reader 9.0 and Vista Service Pack (SP1).

  • Error 1651 - Unable to install Adobe Reader

I am having issues with installing Adobe Reader.  When an update was available, the user was receiving an error message of "Error applying transforms.  Verifiy that the specified paths are valid".  I removed and attempted to reinstall Adobe Reader and I am now receiving error message of 1651.
Does anyone have an idea how to resolve this?

I have never seen this error before.
What is the operating system / Windows version?
How are you installing the Reader?
    Running as an Administrator user?
Any other info we don't know about?

  • I bought aIphone 6 last week.A update has shown up for iOS 8.1.3. I tap install now a window camw up saying verifing update then after verification ran a window coame up and said error occoured unable to install. How do I install or should I not?

I bought a iPhone 6 16 GB i OS 8.1.2 last week. A software upgrade to i OS 8.1.3 was downloaded to my phone automatically. I taped install now and the phone went to a window verifying update. Then after the verifying window another window came up and said a error has occurred and can not install. Has anyone else had this happen? If so how do I install upgrade? Or should I not install?

Also check to see that the auto-pushed update has been deleted from the device after this botched update. If the iOS update hasn't been installed due to an error, the update file could be sitting on the device using up storage space and possibly causing other issues.
Check if it's on the device under: Settings/Usage. then under STORAGE, tap Manage Storage. A list will populate with your installed apps. The iOS update will be in this list if it's still on the device but hasn't completed installing. If you find the iOS update app in this list, tap on it, then tap on the Delete App button.
Afterwards, try the iTunes update method which is easier to install since it does not require any free device space to complete.

Here's another wierd one... suddenly, I cannot download or view PDF files in Safari. I have attempted to download acrobat reader for a re-install, but neither safari nor firefox will download the complete file. Adobe says the file is 21 megs, but when downloaded (takes 3 seconds!!) file size shows 409 Kb everytime I try it. When I click the .dmg I get a message that says "unable to open file... unsupported file type" or similar statement. Any idea what might be happening here? I'm running 10.4.8 and everything used to work fine, although I hated Acrobat because it took 30 seconds to load!!!
    Thanks for your input.

Correction... downloaded Reader file is actually a folder named "DownloadReader.pkg" and double-clicking on it causes the message "File could not be opened because the specified format is not supported"
    Thanks

  • Error #2038 - unable to install CS6 on 10.8.3 brand new iMac

I have attempted to install CS6 creative suite from both the Adobe site and also from an .iso file - both times, it fails to install. Instead, I get the following (and cryptic) error message:
    Sorry, an error has occurred.
The application could not be installed. Try installing it again. If the problem persists, contact the application author.
    Error# 2038
I did have previous versions of Adobe products on this mac, but erased those files. I downloaded several application cleaners and none of them found a trace of Adobe products.
I verified font book and deleted all problematic fonts.
    Any other ideas?
    I'm desperate.

Thank you Megangeckler.  The difficulty you are currently facing with the Adobe Download Assistant can be solved by removing the currently installed Adobe Download Assistant from your applications folder.  You can find more details under the Known issues section of Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html#main_Known_i ssues.
Prior to installing CS6 I would recommend running any available uninstallers located in the Applicatons/Utilities/Adobe Installers for CS6.  If you are very lucky this should clear up any additional installation issues you may face.
If you do face any additional difficulties with installing CS6, not the Adobe Download Assistant as referenced in your screenshot, then please remove any remaining Adobe Creative software and follow this by running the CS Cleaner tool.  You can find details on how to download and use the CS Cleaner Tool at CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.

  • IPhone 6 Error 53 Unable to Install / Factory Reset

After installing 8.1.3 the Battery was draining out very fast.  Also the Touch Id went dead. Wanted to see whether this was resolved in 8.2 and hence tried to install 8.2 yesterday.  First used the Wifi to upgrade. 8.2 got downloaded and the installation started but halfway through it gave error and exit from update. Then I tried updating through iTunes (latest version).  After going through the installation for sometime I got the error "The iPhone "xyz" could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (53)".   I disconnect the phone, switched it off and on.  At this point of time the iPhone prompted me to connect to iTunes.  Restarted the system (mac book), brought up iTunes and connect the iPhone through USB cable.  iTunes prompted me to confirm for resetting the the iPhone to Factory settings. I confirmed. After some time I got the same error (error 53).  The phone is now totally unusable.  Looked at all articles on the net but I did not find any articles which helped me.  I bought the phone in Singapore and I am not sure whether Apple will take it for service in India
    Any suggestions?

When restoring an iphone 6 (or 6 PLUS) with a not working touchid, you will get stuck at 50% of the process and the phone will be stuck in recovery mode.
The problem often occurres when installing  a new screen, and in the process make a little damage to the home button (or its flex cable).
Also somethimes the replacement screen already has a new home button attached, and by changing the screen a new button is used instead of the original one (which is the only button which had working touchid for the iphone).
If you havent replaced the screen or what so every you will just need to set up a repair with apple and they will give you a brand new iphone as replacement.
Its kinda stupid a perfectly working iphone which has a defective touchid (by screen repair / water damage) gets stuck in recovery when updating / doing a recovery.  Its turns your expensive iphone into a brick... . Way to go Apple
So i really hope your warranty is still ok (mine they refused to repair).
