Error -200

I've recently updated to Itunes 7. It seems to install fine but I can never run the program. It says "Itunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-200). I've tried un-installing it and reinstalling. Didn't work. I've even gone in and deleted everything in the Itunes folder. I can't even use system restore to go back to the old version. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you!!!

When reinstalling, make sure Anti-virus and Anti-Spyware is off, so the installer can make changes to any Quicktime files that might be running in the background.

  • Itunes doesn't open, error -200

I'm having a problem similar to what I've seen other people mentioning here, except when the itunes icon bounces, after a minute this message pops up: The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occured. (-200).
I had this problem today after opening iTunes for the first time in a few weeks. I decided to see if downloading iTunes again would help, but its still doing exactly the same thing with the new iTunes.
I noticed something about disabling iTunes in shapeshifter, but I don't have shapeshifter.
    Help?
    thanks!

Usually that error -200 code indicates you've got a damaged QuickTime (iTunes uses QuickTime for audio and video playback), but with later versions of the software (7.0.2.16 or higher) it will most commonly display as an "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration" message.
The following document is the best place to start with it:
iTunes 7 for Windows: iTunes has detected an audio configuration problem

  • App error 200 while updating my device software

Could anyone please give me some advice?
I was updating my Blackberry device software and after the update had finished was prompted to restart my system and the phone but my phone has since refused to come on. it keeps showing 'App Error 200' reset
The issue is that my blackberry is loading when the battery is removed and inserted again, but won't log in. After a while a white screen is displayed with the following message: App Error 200 and Reset just below it.
When I select the reset option, the above mentioned process just repeats itself.
My Blackberry desktop application does not even recognise up my phone once it is plugged in again.
please i would appreciate any help to correct this error and regain the use of my phone

  • ITunes will not launch, Error -200. Sounds works just fine.

I've recently upgraded to Lion and have been using iTunes just fine until early this week. When clicking on the iTunes icon, it bounces and then the -200 Error pops up. I've googled on solutions to this and everything I've read so far points to a hardware error, mainly that there is no audio output availabe. Also many people reporting this error have also said that their QuickTime hasn't worked either. I'm really confused about this because my sound has been working with no problems and I've been able to watch videos on QuickTime as well. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, still would not open.  Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I am having the same trouble. Just upgraded to Lion, now I'm getting error (-200) when I try to open it. Sound otherwise works fine.

  • HT1338 my itunes will not start up, keep getting a error -200. How do I correct?

My itunes will not open, I keep getting "error -200". How can I correct this?

The quote below is from a previous thread where several people solved your same problem with the stated technique. Maybe it will work for you. Good Luck.
iTunes 7.0.2 FIX.........Have tried all 'fixes' suggested but iTunes STILL not opening
    1. Uninstall iTunes and Quicktime.
    2. Do a search in the C:\ drive for "QuickTime". Delete EVERYTHING that pops up.
    3. Restart the computer.
    4. Install QUICKTIME ONLY
    5. THEN install iTunes......and IT WORKS.....Just remember to install Quicktime FIRST.

  • Error -200 and no sound except start-up tone

After playing sound over headset my macbook won't play any sounds except the start sound. Furthermore my Itunes won't start anymore and I've got the error -200 ... any help?

i'm not sure exactly how to restore your original sounds however if you go to control panel->sounds->then the sound tab. it shows all the sounds used for different applications.. i think there is a restore to default at the bottum. you can do that or manually change the sound it makes.
    hope this helps a little.

  • Unknown error (-200) when i start v7

i can't open itunes v7 because of this "unknown error (-200)".
and if i revert to v 6.0.5 i'm having lots of problems as well (that i didn't have before this GRMBL version 7)!
what is this unknown error (-200) and what can i do? i've been looking all over the web and on the apple site, can't find anything about it... help me out please!
    thanks

i can't open itunes v7 because of this "unknown error (-200)".
that can be associated with a damaged QuickTime. (itunes needs a fully functional QuickTime in order to work.)
so let's first try a careful standalone QT 7.1.3 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1.3 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1.3 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • My ITunes has error (-200) and cannot open

I tried to open my iTunes and got a notice saying it couldn't be opened because of error -200.  Does anyone know what this means and how I can fix this issue?

    Heyy,
    I do (:
You need to update it or uninstall it and re-instal it.

  • App Error 200

After installing an uodate to PocketGrapes Digital Wine Diary last night I was prompted for a Restart which I accepted. The Restart gets no further than the white line across the bottom of the Blackberry screen which hangs for about 5 minutes and then shows App Error 200. If I accept Reset the process is repeated. If I remove the battery and then replace it the same thing happens.
I have tried to Restart in Safe mode but this does not work.
I have tried to Reload the OS from Blackberry Desktop Software but when I connect my phone, the phone restarts and I get the Error message: "Cannot communicate with the connected device" because it is rebooting. The only way I can stop it from rebooting is by taking the battery out but if I then try and connect my phone I get the same error message bacause the software thinks the battery is flat.
    Any advice would be welcome.

  • App Error 200 - Reset, BB curve 8520

    Hello,
While I was downloading the new BB software via BB desktop manager, my laptop suddenly closed. After that, when I re-opened my mobile, after reloading, the screen went blank with an "App Error 200 - Reset" in the middle of the screen. I tried pressing the reset button, but it repeats the same system again! How can I solve this problem?! Pleasee Help

Just enter an incorrect one 10 times and the phone will reset itself back to factory settings without a password and then you are good to go. (P.S: note that the device wont lock out it will start fresh as a new device). Have you made a back-up of your BB at any given point in time?
If so, then you can just load the backup through the Desktop Manager.

  • BB Bold 9900 APP ERROR 200.....HELP!!!

I have a BB Bold 9900 and has the white screen with App Error 200 Reset screen, I have tried taking the battery out and plugging it into computer to reset it but comes up with the update screen and then says repair and then says No BB device updates available...what do I do now as just have an exspensive brick????? thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Here is a KB that discusses that error:
KB30100 "JVM 200" appears on the BlackBerry smartphone
Hopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message, error code, or symptom, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you.
You also might want to do an OS reload. The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
You may also need the use of these tricks:

KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
    http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

I've never had any trouble with iTunes or my iPod before...until after I updated RealPlayer and Quicktime last night. This morning I got the error message (-200) when I tried to open iTunes. I suspect one of those updates messed with iTunes but don't know how to fix it. Any ideas out there?

  • Unknow error (-200) after installing 7

Can anyone tell me what unknown error (-200) is and how to correct it. Since I have installed ver 7, i have not been able to access itunes. I get this error message every time I try to run the progam....please help..Thanks

There are two causes that I know of for this.
    1. You are running remotely from a different system
and have it set up to play audio locally.
    2. You have TotalRecorder or Volume Logic or some
other plug-in. Remove all plugins from your iTunes
    plugin folder.
    3. You have something else that is trying to
    redirect your sound.
im having this problem too on my PC...
i have tried the solutions that i can understand.
the audio in QT is also crackling
its not number 1, cos remote desktop is not enabled on my PC. Unless the settings of RDT can overwrite this somehow...
    2. as far as i know, i dont have any of this... i have uninstalled 1 codec that i had added to WMP, but that didn't fix it... i am pretty sure i don't have anything else like that...
    3. what could this be? i don't understand this one
the only other problem that i could think of is that the PC is too slow.. it fits the requirements for iT 7, but only just...

  • ITunes error -200

I cannot start iTunes. Every time I attempt to start it up I receive an" unknown error (-200)". Any ideas.?
I reinstalled iTUnes 10 and deleted plists. Still the same problem.

I'm dealing with this error today. I forgot to plug in my Macbook and the computer died. Every time my computer is turned off any other way than asking for a restart/shut down (ie out of power, pushing the power button for 3 seconds), I get the multi-language error at startup. I have to keep trying combinations of using the install disk, not using the disc, holding "d" or option, until finally it boots, I login, and the error screen doesn't show up.
Today is the first time the sound hasn't worked for anything other than the startup chime. I don't hear the volume up and down sound, iTunes won't open, and I can't hear online videos and sounds. I was able to open Garageband, and I loaded a guitar lesson, but I couldn't hear the guy talking.
If the audio/logic board was fried, how would I be able to hear the startup chime?
There has to be a easy way to fix this.
