  • Error Message, Won't Install from Disc 1

The MacBook started to act up two days ago and became hot. (It was unusually slow, too) After being shut down and left alone for a while, I tried to turn it on. It would sit at the gray Apple start-up screen then would show this screen (http://flickr.com/photos/cdbear/3134787486/) It kept doing this over and over, saying that is it needed to be restarted.
I went through the manual and followed instructions. I tested the Hardware - no problems came up. I reset the pRAM, but that didn't change anything. I settled with using the Mac OS X Disc 1 to re-install everything and start from scratch. The first time I put it in, I chose to Erase & Install. The computer showed this screen (http://flickr.com/photos/cdbear/3139474679/) for a while but ended up showing an error. It said something about the disc not working.
I've tried to re-install a few times, but still, an error of some sort would show up. The latest was this screen (http://flickr.com/photos/cdbear/3140299690/in/photostream/).
What am I doing wrong and how do I fix this?

    Hi osita08,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
As Kappy stated, the original image is of a kernel panic. Curious, did the machine only kernel panic once on you? Or did it happen multiple times? Are you able to even boot into the OS right now or are you still stuck at the Apple logo and then a kernel panic?
If you try to run the installer again, as soon as you start it can you press and hold (simulatenously) the Command + L buttons to bring up the installer log. Then document what the error message says in the log?

  • Photoshop cs4 access denied when trying to install from disc in Windows 7 64bit.

Photoshop cs4 access denied when trying to install from disc in Windows 7 64bit. I tried it in
safe mode and it starts to install but get an error there as well.
    What do I do?

So when you put the disk in it won't run correctly? When the disk is inserted you should have a window pop up with 2 options. 1 to install and the other to see what is on the disk. Choose to explore or open the disk. Go to the CS4 folder where the photoshop .exe file is (that will run the setup), right click on the .exe file and choose run as Admin and it should start. See if it will install. If not then read below.
I am not sure how far you got in the install before so chances are you will have to run the CS4 cleanup utility. 2 levels to run at but don't use 1 or 2 just type in the number 3.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html
You may need to run the windows installer cleanup utility too
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Before you try to reinstall the software ensure that adobe reader is not installed. If it is remove it. It has caused issues in the past with vista and CS4 installs.
Also turn off windows Defender and any anti-virus software. You can keep UAC on in Windows 7.
During the CS4 install at 90 percent it will almost stop and may take 5 to 10 mins to finish. This is normal. What a pain huh......
    After install is finished, reboot
After reboot, go to the CS4 64 bit or 32 bit icon (depends on 32 or 64 bit Windows 7) in start area, right click on CS4 64 bit (if you have windows 7 64 bit) and choose properties, compatibility tab and then check run as Admin at the bottom area. Hit apply, ok to close out.
Now start CS4 and run the updater.

  • CommandAction works through OnDeviceDebug, but not when installed from jar

    Hi everybody,
I'm trying to run a HelloMIDlet example and if I run it on emulator it works fine, also when I run it on mobile through OnDeviceDebug from eclipse it works fine, but when I install a jar file and run the application it ends with Application Error message and it exits. I found out that the problem might be in the CommandAction method, because when I use this:
    public void commandAction(Command c, Displayable s) {
              notifyDestroyed();
}then the application works also when installed from jar, but when I use this:
    public void commandAction(Command c, Displayable s) {
String label = new String("Exit");   //just for test
       if (label.equals("Exit"))
         notifyDestroyed();
}then it ends with Application Error right after I run the program (and it works when I use OnDeviceDebug). I'm using jdk1.5.0_06 and WTK from Sony Erricsson (my target device is W800i, which supports CLDC1.1 and MIDP2.0)
    My manifest file is
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.1
    MIDlet-Name: HelloMIDlet
    Created-By: Sun Microsystems Inc.
    MIDlet-Vendor: Sun Microsystems, Inc.
    MIDlet-1: HelloMIDlet, , HelloMIDlet
    MIDlet-Version: 1.0
    MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.0
MIDlet-Description: Hello Worldand I don't use the jad file when installing the application (seems to be unecessary when you have a manifest file inside the jar). And I'm unable to debug it because when debugging then it works normally. Also I tried to recompile the BluetoothDemo and the same error(and works through OnDeviceDebug). And when I installed the jar file, which is originally distributed with BluetoothDemo then it worked. When I compared original jar file and my jar file then the only difference was in the size the class files (class files compiled by me were bigger then the class files in original jar file (which work)).
    Any ideas guys and girls?

I tried that approach but it doesn't work either. I think maybe my directory structure is wrong.
    C:\IRS\IRS.jar
    C:\IRS\irs.hs
    referenced: jar:file://C:/IRS/IRS.jar!/irs.hs
    Am I doing this right?

getting error code 150110 when installing Reader on Win7 and there is plenty of disk space.  Help!

    Hi pat27,
Are you still facing this issue?
Do you have any previous version of Reader installed, if yes and it is 9 or above. Uninstall that using Adobe Reader cleaner tool:  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Once that is uninstalled restart your machine and try install again.
Also you may try to create a new user profile with Admin rights and try to install again.

  • Error code 2329 when installing itunes

I am getting error code 2329 when installing itunes

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Installed Creative Suite 6 and it gives me an Error 213.10 when I try to start the applications.

I installed the CS6 on a PC with Windows 7.  Once it installed, every time I try to run it gives me Error: 213.10.  I tries the LicFix_21319 that the site recommended and it did not help.  Any Ideas of why I am getting this and how to fix it.

We can't know. You have not provided any system information or the exact error. Most commonly this happens when a security tool is blocking the installers or you run with insufficient user privileges, but that's all we can kinda guess here.

  • Tiger Installation Problems: Can't install from disc...continuous restarts

Attempting Tiger install on fairly old iMac (six years) ... the DVD player is caput, so I'm attempting to install with external DVD-ROM (Teac). Upon clicking the install icon, I get a message that asks me to restart to continue the process. Problem is once I restarted, nothing happened and I returned to the beginning. When I tried to restart (as instructed) while pressing the C key...nothing happened. When I tried to restart from the Tiger install disc, it wouldn't allow me to restart. I hit the key and get an error tone. None of the troubleshooting tips seem to apply to this situation. Is it the external drive? Is it my machine? Is it the install DVD 10.4.6? I'm out of ideas ...

There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac, or even re-installing them, will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site. If your car runs on gasoline you would not want to fill the tank with diesel, so don’t try to install the PPC updater on an Intel Mac!
The 10.4.11 Combo Updater for PPC Macs is here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eppc.html
And for Intel Macs: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eintel.html
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
More information on using Software Updater here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them 10.4.10. compliant. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 used Safari 3.0.4 which was not a beta. If Safari 3.1.1 on 10.4.11 is not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
Moreover, trying to revert to Safari 3.0.4 (or worse still, version 2) when running 10.4.11 or 10.5 can have repercussions, as Safari 3.1.1 uses a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail and Dashboard Widgets etc also rely, and may entail you having to reinstall an earlier operating system.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Two such add-on that have been frequently mentioned here for causing such problems are Piclens and Pithhelmet. If you have them, trash them.
Additional tips on software installation here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
    • /Library/InputManagers
    • ~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).
