Error -2147467259, can't add item to OPC Server

I am using a DataSocket connection to read/write through an OPC Server (GE SRTP) to PLC software (PME). Everything works fine on my 2 different development PC's in my office, both in .vi form, and executable. I have distributed my executable on our network, and 2 of the 4 PC's we use to test product work fine. The other 2 PC's have the same problem, error -2147467259, can't add item to OPC server. When the OPC Server is called by LabVIEW, it launches successfully, but immediatly shows the 'can't add item to OPC Server'. I believe that it has to do with the registry. I registered the opcproxy.dll, and it still fails. LabVIEW 7.1, Windows XP machines.

I would like to echo Sam's inquiry about launching the OPC server outside of LabVIEW and verifying that it can be connected to. Also, under what user name is the OPC server being launched? Sometimes you can run into trouble if the user name is not the current user logged onto the system, but I haven't heard of it causing this error. You can see what user launched the service under Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Services. You can verify the default user running the application by going to Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Component Services and navigating to Component Services >> Computers >> My Computer >> DCOM Config Right click on your DCOM server and select Properties. Then go to the Identity tab and make sure The Interactive User is selected.

I'm working on different OPC servers and
I'm able to connect to most of them without a problem (using DataSockets
as well as OPC Data Access Automation
Interface v.2.02). So, my DataSocket example works fine for National Instruments
OPC servers,and ICONICS servers,and others but only for Siemen's
"Softing OPC Sample Server" and "OPC.SimanticNET" I get a "can't create item
error" or "cant
add group error" when I OPEN connection.
The connection works fine if I use other
methods then DataSockets or If I use
other server.
Does anybody know why is that?

You didn't mention what version of DataSocket you are using. Upgrading to
DataSocket version 3.0 should fix this problem. (If you are a ComponentWorks
user, check out www.ni.com/mstudio for upgrade information or to download
eval software)

Add new item to OPC server in LabView

Hi. I want to connect my PLC Unitronics Jazz to LabView using OPC Server. It have OPC Server called UniOPC Server. I don't know how to add an Item in LabView.
UniOPC don't have option to add new Item - I have to do this by opc client. In OPC QuickClient I can see UniOPC server, and there I can add Item and change values of variables (for example I can change value of MB0 - Memory Bit 0) but in LabView when I try to use this in VI project I have error: "Error 0x0000002A connecting to .../plc.MB0".
I would like to try to add new Item without QuickClient - in LabView and see if that works. Can someone help me, please?

Error message "can't nest items with different editing timebases"

Hello final cut wiz group!
I just finished a soundtrack in Logic Pro 7 and am trying to import the XML into Final Cut 5 with my G5 (OS 10.4.1). I'm getting a message that says "30 fps, NTSC rate does not match sequence preset time base 25 fps. The timebase defined in the the XML will be used. Unable to edit clip into sequence."
I can get the sound to play after rendering, but when I try to bring the clip into the sequence, I get an error that says cannot nest items with conflicting timebases?
Anybody have an idea how I can get myself out of this problem?

I'm not too familiar with using the XML functions but 25fps I believe is PAL and 30fps would be NTSC. That is a problem. When you export from Logic you may be able to change a frame rate setting in the export dialog. Or you could just bounce the file into a compatable format such as AIF or wave/PCM and then import that. Good luck.

Virtual keyboard's context-menu: can users add items to it?

iPad's virtual keyboard has a context-menu: when you hold a finger down on the -a- key of the English keyboard, for example, a context-menu appears showing various accented/combining forms of the character -a- from which you can choose. Is there a way for users to add items to this context-menu? Could one add [ð] [u00F0, 'Latin eth'] to the [d] key's context-menu and [þ] [u00FE, 'Latin thorn'] to the [t] key's context-menu?

Unless there is a keyboard language that already supports those characters, then no. You cannot add additional options to the built-in keyboard. There are apps that extend the keyboard, one in particular is the Wolfram Alpha app. While I don't know if it supports the characters you are looking for, it does have an extensive variable based keyboard for input in addition to the system keyboard.

I have a real time target. Ii works well till today!
Its hour was incorrect and i change it from the Bios. I do not change anything else. I just correct hour form 15:00 to 14:30.
I restart to computer and ı recognıze that from my host computer ı can not see devices (cards) on RT from MAX.
In the deskop of the rt target the following writes:

Oh no! We'll get that up and going. What kind of target is this? PXI? Desktop ETS? It looks like changing the BIOS indirectly caused a corruption in the connection between the target and MAX. Did the crash create an error log file? You can find where the log file is located on a RT target here. If so, what does the file say? Have you been able to repeat this crash? If a file has become corrupt, we may need to reformat the target.

Can not add items to the dock

I can not add icons to the dock, I am able SOMETIMES to edit the dock (moving icons around or delete them), there is no rule, sometimes I can grab the icon on the dock, and sometimes I just can't (I have the pop up when I can't) , I deleted users/username/library/preferences/com.apple.dock.plist and issued a killall dock command, with no difference.
any help will be appreciated

The Dock did not return to default on that command?
Try again and also delete username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
If it's still no-go create a new User go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" (make it an admin acct) and test the Dock in this new account, if it works the problem is isolated to your User and not systemwide.
Let us know.
EDIT: Also are you running any enhancement software?

For the calendar issue, you may have a corrupt calendar database on the Z22. There is a program called DBfixit that can find any corruption. There is a trial version that will find the corruption and you can repair the record or purchase the program and have it repair it for you.

LabVIEW DSC 2011 / OPC Client IO Server / Can I write to the OPC Server using OPC Groups?

I am using LabVIEW DSC module as a OPC client. My Shared Variables are binded to automation system OPC Server via "OPC Client IO Server".
On the OPC Server side it seems that the every write commands comes like one item at time, not like grouped.
Now I have tested this with the NI OPC Server as server and KepServer and LabVIEW DSC IO Server as OPC Clients.
When I use the NI OPC Server : OPC Diagnostics there are different events messages when the update request comes from KepServer or LabVIEW DSC.
There are log files on attachements for both write events.

I have received confirmation (from the PSE in the US) that DSC doesn't support group writes
There however work-arounds that might provide a solution:
- The first solution I had in mind was like this. Update the 50 OPC items as fast as possible.
Then use a 51st item as synchronization OPC item to check/indicate if new data has arrived/has been set/is available.
So LabVIEW sets 50 OPC values as fast as possible. The 51st value becomes goes from false to true when the first 50 values are written.
When this (51st) value is true on the OPC server you can read out the first 50 values (from the non-LabVIEW side). When you've read out these values, then you can set the 51st value back to false (from the non-LabVIEW side).
In the meanwhile at the LabVIEW side you wait until the 51st value goes back from true to false.
When it becomes false, then you write again those 50 values and afterwards set the 51st synchronization value from false to true.
And this keeps on going...
Note: Keep in mind that you only have to monitor one event at the side of the Automation System OPC Server in this case (the 51st) and based on an event occuring over there you can just do a group read of the 50 others. Also keep in mind that the maximum rate (6500 updates per second) from inside LabVIEW with the DSC Module OPC client I/O server was also mentioned in this document (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/63C043359F1E12538625726E005BCD0C?OpenDocument).
Could this be a possible solution for your problem?
If you're using one of the OPC servers in this list (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/6417#toc19), then you can also use NI OPC Servers to update tags instead, which supports a faster update rate.
