How To Ask Questions The Smart Way
Eric Steven Raymond
Rick Moen
Write in clear, grammatical, correctly-spelled language
We've found by experience that people who are careless and sloppy writers are usually also careless and sloppy at thinking and coding (often enough to bet on, anyway). Answering questions for careless and sloppy thinkers is not rewarding; we'd rather spend our time elsewhere.
So expressing your question clearly and well is important. If you can't be bothered to do that, we can't be bothered to pay attention. Spend the extra effort to polish your language. It doesn't have to be stiff or formal — in fact, hacker culture values informal, slangy and humorous language used with precision. But it has to be precise; there has to be some indication that you're thinking and paying attention.
Spell, punctuate, and capitalize correctly. Don't confuse "its" with "it's", "loose" with "lose", or "discrete" with "discreet". Don't TYPE IN ALL CAPS; this is read as shouting and considered rude. (All-smalls is only slightly less annoying, as it's difficult to read. Alan Cox can get away with it, but you can't.)
More generally, if you write like a semi-literate b o o b you will very likely be ignored. So don't use instant-messaging shortcuts. Spelling "you" as "u" makes you look like a semi-literate b o o b to save two entire keystrokes.

    Im trying to install Java but it keeps telling me that there is a problem unzipping core files. So I tried to change destination but its still not working.
    Can somebody please try help me :)

    I have read the Java help and did all they suggested to do and for some reason it still wont down load.
    I tried to change to destination place and that tells me that a previous Java installation was never completed.
    But when I did what Java told me to do to install it and to down load the Windows Installer Cleanup, it tells me that Java isn't even on my computer.

  • ERROR: validate with data file failed

    Hi,
    We are using SAP BPC 7.5 NW SP08(Admin & client). We are trying to load transaction data from BW actual cube to BPC application for which we have written the following transformation file.
    *MAPPING
    CATEGORY=*NEWCOL(ACTUAL)
    P_ACCT2=MVAL(0RECTOTSTCK|NEWCOL(PRODQU))
    P_DATASRC=*NEWCOL(INPUT)
    MATERIALBW=0MATERIAL
    RPTCURRENCY=0LOC_CURRY
    TIME=0CALMONTH
    SIGNEDDATA=0RECTOTSTCK
    *CONVERSION
    TIME=Conversion for IM Actuals.XLS!CONVERSION
    We want to map BW keyfigure 0RECTOTSTK (production quantity) to PRODQU - a member of the dimension P_ACCT2. And also we want to load the data from that key figure into our SIGNEDDATA field in BPC.
    We have validated and processed the conversion file without error, but getting the following error while validating definition of the transformation file:
    "ERROR: validate with data file failed"
    Can you please help on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Appu

    Issue was resolved.We were trying to load data from the cube 0IC_C03.However, that cube had some non-cumulative key figures. BPC 7.5 SP08 does not allow data to be loaded from BW cubes having non-cumulative key-figures to BPC Cubes.This is a bug which will be rectified in SP11 according to SAP.
    Since we needed only 0RECTOTSTCK which is a cumulative key figure we created a separate BW cube and loaded it from 0IC_C03 using only the necessary cumulative key figures and other dimensions.We then used the new cube to load data into BPC cube and it worked.

  • Error when unzipping compressed files in portal

    Hi,
    I am using Oracle AS Portal 10g v 9.0.4. When unzipping a compressed file in a portal page I get the following error for each of the files in the zip:
    ERROR: Failed to create overview_9041_new_features.pdf
    ORA-06510: PL/SQL: unhandled user-defined exception ORA-06512: at "PORTAL.WWDOC_API", line 914 ORA-06510: PL/SQL: unhandled user-defined exception ORA-06512: at "PORTAL.WWSBR_API_BULKLOAD", line 44 ORA-00001: unique constraint (PORTAL.WWDOC_DOCU_UK) violated ORA-06512: at "PORTAL.WWSBR_API_BULKLOAD", line 216 ORA-06512: at line 1
    Can anyone help?

    hi,
    have you tried to delete and purge this item and re-upload the zip file again ?
    another option to unzip the file would be to upload the file via Webfolders (WebDAV) from your windows explorer and unzip it directly from there. this could be a workaround for your problem.
    if the error reproduces and you cannot use the workaround i suggest to open a service request with oracle support services.
    regards,
    christian

  • "click on the link for each error to highlight the location of the error in the PDF file" fails

    I'm working on a document which has tables in it. When I run the accessibility checker for 508 compliance, it tells me the document failed the test (g) 4 Table element(s) with no TH child elements and then provides links to the 4 tables in question. Now, when I click on those links, nothing happens. I know it is supposed to take me to the location of the problem table, and in fact this has worked for me in other documents in the past. Why is it not working now? I could really use this functionality because there are more than 4 tables so I can't tell which ones are failing the test without Acrobat highlighting them for me.
    Thanks!
    Maddie

    Hmm, I tried that but it didn't solve the problem. When I searched for the tables there was always something in the code for the table. Also, saving the PDF to HTML really messed up the layout of the file, so it was hard to tell how well it paralleled the code in the PDF file.
    However, I don't know if this would give you any ideas, but these are links from the Accessibility Report, from the list "Structure errors: 7 table element(s) with no TH child elements."
    This is one that took me to a table:
    file:///U|/Booklets/second%20edition%202011-2016/booklet-2/Book.TwoTAGGED.pdf#page=26&high light=50,558,675,180
    This is what ALL the other 6 look like (which, when clicked, took me nowhere):
    file:///U|/Booklets/second%20edition%202011-2016/booklet-2/Book.TwoTAGGED.pdf#page=0&highl ight=-32768,-32768,-32768,-32768
    It makes me think that there are some artifact tables floating out in space somewhere, at the location "-32768,-32768,-32768,-32768."
    If there was some way for me to find them and either tag them as artifacts or delete them... that might solve the problem! Do you know if there is a way?
    Thanks!

  • OMWB Error #3004: Write to file failed

    I was getting the above error while running the Access Exporter tool (both the 2000 and 2002 versions of the mde file). After some detective work, I figured out what was causing it and thought I'd share.
    One of the MS Access tables I was trying to migrate to Oracle was named with a slash ('/') buried in the middle of the table name. Once I realized that, I renamed the table in Access replacing the slash with a space.
    That fixed it. Hope this helps someone else!

    Hi Tom,
    Thanks for the feedback.
    This issue is actually resolved in the latest version of the Exporter Tool, version 10.2.0.2.0, so such characters are handled before writing to files. The latest version of the Exporter tool will be available as part of the Application Migration Workshop in the upcoming Oracle Application Express release 3.0.

  • Copy files failed: An unknown error occurred (-50), copy files failed: An unknown error occurred (-50)

    Can't consolidate my library.  Any clue as to the fix?

    Do you have a line number? The script prossibly makes an unjustified assumption that the Album Artist field always exists though I thought I'd covered that one.
    Looking at the script there are two locations where the value of .AlbumArtist is read - the second one shouldn't ever cause an error. The first one has never done so for me, but I suppose it is possible if the "first" track in your library isn't a standard audio track...
    If the error line is 143 would you mind adding the following line of code before the current line:
    If I=1 Then MsgBox .Name    ' (letter i = numeral 1)
    Can you find the object with that name in the library, and if so what kind of object is it?

  • HAS ANYONE HAD A PROBLEM WITH WIRELESS PRINTING ERROR RASTER FILE FAILED

    My printer displays error message - opening raster file failed.  Has anyone had this happen?

    Lightroom should recognize your camera (assume it's LR3 or later) automatically without pointing it to the DCIM directory. The files you are referring to is system file I think and not the photos; thus OS cannot read the file.
    Do you have a card reader? For some reason, if you connect your camera into Lightroom directly, sometimes LR doesn't show the preview of your images. Instead you'll get ? next to a gray box. If you don't have a card reader, just plug your camera in, ignore the ? and the gray box (this is LR problem, not your camera), then import them anyway. You should see your test shot once it's done importing.

    My scenerio iam posting IDOC to a flat file with content conversion in the receiver side,the mapping got executed successfully and in the audit log i found that the error was after the 'Start converting XML document content to plain text'.
    This means that error occured during content conversion of XML to the prescribed file format.
    Can anyone suggest any better approach using which we may trace the junk data in IDoc. Manual adhoc approach could take time and is error prone.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi Bhavesh,
    Thanks for the early reply. I checked the mapping and everything is fine and the output is also in valid XML format.
    The audit log shows that the mapping got executed successfully and the error is after the step 'Start converting XML document content to plain text '. Is there any constraint in the file adapter regarding the message size for parsing.

  • My 22 MB pdf file "Failed to export to Word."

    I have tried several times to convert a 22 MB pdf file to Word, but I receive this error message every time: "File failed to export to Microsoft Word.  There was an unexpected problem."  No further explanation is available.  I know my ExportPDF is working, because I have tested several other smaller files.  I even tried using a different browser (Chrome and IE) and home and work computers.  I checked the permissions of the document and I have all that are available.  The pdf document seems to upload OK although it takes a few minutes because it's large, but then I receive the error message.  I got the original file from an internet site (legitimate).  Any ideas?

    Try disabling OCR with these instructions: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3062 to see if that helps.
    If it doesn't, please open the PDF in Adobe Reader and choose File > Properties.  Let us know what it says next to 'Application' and 'PDF Producer'

  • Attempt to process file failed with java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsExcep..

    Hello All,
       I am implementing file2file with file going from shared folder to FTPS server.
    I am using TLS and X.509 certificate in file receiver communication channel.
    when I implemented my scenario, this is the error its throwing :
    Success : Connect to FTP server "my ftp address", directory "/TEST/"
    Error : Attempt to process file failed with java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 3
    I know this error is caused when java expects the 3 character length string and if its getting more than that... Does any faced this kindaa problem before...Any help is greatly appreciated....Obviously even points....
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    There is no custom code at all? No mappings, no custom modules, no pre/post processing commands?
    Also, check if you get this error when sending to ftps server without certificate (or with another certificate). It may be an incompatibility issue with certificate.
    Did you import the .pfx (or .p12) file in KeyStorage Service?
    Regards,
    Henrique.

  • Error validating the transformation file

    Thanks,
    Santosh

    Hi Santosh,
    I am sure you would done it correctly. However, just to be on the safer side, lets revisit all the steps.
    From BPC excel, we create a new conversion. Check the name of the worksheet (not the workbook). By default, it will be Conversion. You can change it to something else also. Lets say, we change it to Account. So, the sheet's name is Account. We validate and save the conversion as myconversion.xls. This will create another file named myconversion.cdm. Check the location properly while saving the conversion file. The location would be
    HTTP://server_name/appset/application/DataManager/ConversionFiles.
    Save it under company folder.
    Go to the server, where BPC has been installed. Go to the folder
    \Webfolders\appset\application\DataManager\ConversionFiles
    Check whether the conversion file is present or not. We should have both "myconversion.xls" and "myconversion.cdm".
    Create a new transformation file. Under the *CONVERSION section, We define the conversion file to be used. The format would be
    Dimension_Name=conversion_file_name.xls!sheet name
    In our example, it would be myconversion.xls!account. (check the use of the conversion file name and the sheet name).
    Save and validate the transformation file. Mostly, the issue is around the conversion file name and the sheet name. Check all the steps.
    Hope this helps.
