Error 28 while unbricking the iphone on Itunes 8.2.1
Hi,
Just got the Iphone 3GS from the store and tried activating/unbricking it by connecting to the Itunes with active internet connection. It asked me to download an update and install it, it was a huge 400 mb file which i installed, after which i recieved an error 28 when tried to restore the phone. Any suggestion what could be wrong here?
Sounds like a firmware update.... Which the iphone 3GS would not need... Are you sure you have an iphone 3GS or is it a 3G with the old firmware?
Regardless, I have read about that error when people have done the updates. I think it can be fixed with a restore.

Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart. -
while updating the older version iTunes to latest one it shows "a network error occurred while attempting to read from the file: C:\windows\installer\iTunes64.msi. pls help on this matter to connect my i5 to PC. Thanks in advance
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -

While doing the backup via iTune, my contacts in iPhone AND iPad have been completely wiped out. They are still all available on my Address Book on my Mac. Any idea what happened and how to resolve this ?
Install ClamXav and run a scan with that. It should pick up any trojans.

The computer downloaded the file and started to establish an insertion in phone.
At the end it is written "a mistake-1" and phone is in a restoration mode.
I several times tried it to restore, but at the end of an insertion is written "a mistake-1"

Model MC640LLHi there,
Do you have icloud account? You need firstly turn off find my iphone (by go to icloud.com -->sign in --> go to "Find my iphone" and erase your iphone in it). And then you restore your iphone with DFU mode.
When you erase your Find my iphone and if you can not restore, your iphone has a problem with hardware.
Some infos can help you.
Kind regards, -
i have an apple 3g, tried to upgrade it to a 4.2 version, (previously it was 4.1). it wasnt successful, the computer asked us to restore it to the version which was last operational, and while restoring an error message appeared "the iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occured
"This error is caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple."
Taken directly from this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275.
Plug your iPhone into iTunes and update it to the latest supported version, which is 4.2.1.

I get an error " error while restoring this iphone (-54)
I just updated my iphone to the latest software upgrade and now I keep getting an error that says "error while restoring this iphone (-54)" and when I try to sync it says it cant sync my iphone. I also lost all of my music that was on the phone before the upgrade. Before the upgrade I had no problems with syncing the phone with itunes. I am using Windows 7 on my computer.
Some error codes are not listed in ts3694 This is a networking error. So try this, On a pc>start>type"Cmd">Right click on the icon and click"Run as administrator">Type "netsh winsock reset" >Press enter> restart your computer.
On a mac, > Do the same thing But in terminal. -
Hi,
I am need of help! I have had this issue for a while now and it's becoming frustrating.
My iTunes installed on my HP Windows 8 Netbook is unable to recognize my iPod, the error message along the lines of "iTunes has detected an iPod but unable to recognise"
I have followed all the trouble shooting tips and am still stuck? I am now being told by a friend I need a link sent to me to fix this??
Someone please help me fix this problem.
Many thanks.
Matt.Hi
So just close iTunes and re-open iTunes thats it and that worked for you?
When you say reset your settings do you mean to factory settings? As my iPod was swapped at the store for a new one and the problem is still there...
Thanks. -
Satellite L650 PXE-E63:error while initializing the NIC - Start Up Error
I have a Satellite L650 which is 2 month old.
The motherboard makes a ticking noise (I think that is what is making the noise), and when this noise takes place it causes the computer to be very slow!! It has been this way since I pretty much got it.
Today, the computer made the noise, my itunes music started skipping (it was the only program running) and the computer froze, and told me it couldnt find windows. When I restart my computer it runs the windows 7 startup repair, finds nothing wrong, and restarts the computer. When the computer restarts, the screen stays black for a very long time....then it flashes a blue screen (the flash is so quick I have no idea what it says) and asks if I would like to run the repair again. I select no, start windows normally....and the screen goes black for a very long time, however their is no ticking noise, but it appears nothing is happening.
If I force a restart, I get an error message saying along the lines of;
For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller... check cable connection
PXE-E63:error while initializing the NIC
PXE-MOF:exiting intel PXE ROM
No bootable device-insert boot disk and press eny key
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!hi,

the hard drive may do a clicking sound and also pxe error message can appear if hdd stop working. You can read it here:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=8
what if you enter bios (f2 on startup) and check if hdd listed there. but anyway, you shouldn't be worry :) your lap is still new and under warranty. So, it will be fixed for free.
