What's confusing to me is that the second disk in this mirrored root pool shows c0t1d0s0 in one output and c0t1d0s8 is another output. I hope this is a typo. Otherwise, you need to find out why this device path changed. Its look like the primary disk is faulted. FMA will tell you if the disk is faulted and whether the second disk's device path changed. You will have to boot from media or an install server.
Thanks, Cindy

iCloud will not work on my PC. When I boot my PC I get an error saying, "The Procedure Entry Point sqlite3_wall_checkpoint in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll". How do I fix this?
I'd first try uninstalling and reinstalling your MobileMe control panel, dc. Does that clear the message up?

Getting an error 'Cannot open Boot device' while trying to install Solaris
Hi,
We were trying to install Solaris * on a Sun Sparc system and the CD rom drive does not seem to get recognised. When we try booting from cd rom we get an error 'Cannot open boot device' .
This server was up & running and we were trying to remove a hard disk that had failed and modified the vfstab script . After that the system failed to even boot up. So when we tried reinstalling the OS we are running into this problem.
Am new to this technology ...And any help would be greatly appreciated. .....
ThanksCdrom drive must be scsi device 6
I assume you are running < boot cdrom> at the ok prompt
also at the ok prompt run the command <probe-scsi> (without the angled brackets) you need to see the following:
Target 6
Unit 0 Removable read only device TOSHIBA XM.......bigpileofnumbers
If not, check the cdrom drive and the cdrom inside
hope this helps

Intermittent freezes upon cold boot
Greetings gurus,
I've been experiencing intermittent freezes on cold boot since a few weeks. I did not have them on 10.5.4. I've only had 4 freezes and according to the CrashReporter log all are identical, as far as I can tell. I have not installed any new hardware and I have only one external thing connected and that's a Sennheiser USB headset. I'm unable to tell if all leave identical messages in other logs however.
The *CrashReporter log* for the four occasions says that the process which broke is *coreservicesd [43]*. On each occasion, it is said that "Thread 0" crashed. This is how the beginning of that log reads (from the crash earlier today):
*Process: coreservicesd [43]*
*Path: /System/Library/CoreServices/coreservicesd*
*Identifier: coreservicesd*
*Version: ??? (???)*
*Code Type: X86 (Native)*
*Parent Process: launchd [1]*
*Date/Time: 2009-01-19 20:33:26.618 +0100*
*OS Version: Mac OS X 10.5.5 (9F33)*
*Report Version: 6*
*Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS)*
*Exception Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000000*
*Crashed Thread: 0*
The symptoms are:
+ *Menu bar* is invisible (can make out language flag, airport and bluetooth icons and bottom of menu bar).
+ Finder is unresponsive (can't open folders on the desktop and their icons are gone but not their names - relaunching the Finder does not help).
+ Applications won't launch from the Dock.
+ I can access the Restart, Sleep, Shutdown dialog box by pressing the off button on my ACD, but the Shutdown button doesn't work.
+ Holding the power button will not always force shutdown, but seems to put the computer in some sort of sleep mode (when pressing the button again the desktop will appear "greyed" out and a white progress bar will display).
As it doesn't happen upon every cold boot I haven't been able to use the Verbose mode. I have done the following:
+ Trashed the plists of Finder and Dock
+ Fixed permissions in DU
+ Left it unplugged from the mains for a whole day
+ Reset PRAM/NVRAM
+ Using Onyx, deleted the caches under Cleaning - System and Cleaning - User (radical perhaps?)
+ Turned off all login items (AppTrap, Gmail Notifr, Fuzzy Clock, Skype)
+ Run Apple Hardware Test, normal and extended, with no errors found
+ Verified boot disk in DU while booted from the installation disk: no errors
I tried a Safe Boot but it froze. However, it does not freeze every time.
When it froze this evening, I found loads of the following message in Console-All Messages:
*WindowServer[51] LaunchServices/5123589: coreservicesd is running an unsupported version, 0 ( we are 10500000 ), so we cannot talk to it.*
Many of them are prefaced by loginwindow[23] instead of WindowsServer.
Below are the messages in Console-Console messages from the latest time that it froze (all of the messages). There's some talk about com.apple.UserEventAgent-Aqua which I don't understand.
When it says that a "thread" crashes, could it be hardware-related (i.e. the processors)? But should not AHT have caught that? Or is it some corruption in the system? I have backups and clones so I'm not worried about losing data. I'm more concerned about the hardware.
Any thoughts and ideas would be helpful.
/p

If Disk Utility can't fix it, you'll need a more robust utility for the repair. I would recommend DiskWarrior. It is the best at directory repairs. It rebuilds then actually replaces your old directory. I feel every Mac owner should have a copy. Make sure you get the disk so you can boot up on it to run repairs. You can also install it on another drive and run it from there to repair this one. DW works faster that way.
I use DW once a month to try and catch errors in my system from getting too far out of hand.
If you have a good backup, hopefully a clone of your system before you had issues, an Erase and Install may also rid you of this issue. But, beware! You will lose everything on the drive with this procedure. Let us know if you need help with that!
Luck! DALE
p.s. by Thomas Bryant '''' from a previous post.
Diskwarrior is a "must have" utility and it's corrected any weird problem I've ever encountered. Anytime I have to do a forced shutdown etc. I run DW to get the directories back in tip top shape. Directory problems cause strange issues and often over the course of several weeks or months the little problems add up to finally a major problem. Tom -
Lucreate error on Solaris 10 10/09 root ZFS
Hi guys,
I got some errors while trying out live upgrade on Solaris 10 10/09 root ZFS x86 environment.
I do intent to do this in the SPARC environment but not comfortable with the experience so far.
First of all, I have a separate zpool dataset - "rpool/opt".
Not sure if this is causing the error below.
Anyone can help to advice? TIA

Hi - is there a document which describes the Solaris boot sequence? I'm looking for stuff like 'when do device drivers get loaded', 'when do device drivers initialise, and in what sequence', 'when does /etc/system get read, and which statements are acted upon first'. Stuff like that.
thanksHi
You may find this information usefull.
In a Sun Box with Solaris 2.x the booting sequence is as shown below.
1.On powering the system , the Boot PROM in Sun hardware runs a series of self tests, displays banner , keyboard type information etc.
2. It then reads the Disk label at Sector 0 of the boot drive.
3. It reads the Primary Boot program called "bootblk" from the 1-15 sectors in the Boot drive and loads it in to system memory.
4. The "bootblk" program is a UFS file system reader. Using this "bootblk" program , the boot PROM reads the secondary boot program called "ufsboot" which is located at "/platform/`uname-i` " directory in the boot drive. The ufsboot program is loaded on to the memory.
5. The boot PROM then loads the two part static Solaris kernel onto the memory. The two kernels are /platform/`uname -m/kernel/unix ( which is a platform dependant kernel ) and /kernel/unix (which is a platform independent kernel which is same across all Solaris systems irrespective of their architectures).
6.From here on , the newly loaded Kernel takes over and loads the different kernel modules present in the directory /kernel/drv using the "ufsboot" program.
7.Kernel modules are pieces of the OS that can be installed separately.Kernel modules eliminate the need to rebuild the Unix kernel.Device drivers are also a type of these kernel modules.
8.The kernel modules needed to boot the OS are stored in /kernel/drv. Any module that can wait until after the kernel is booted is put into /usr/kernel.
9.The /etc/system which is a kernel patch file is read at this time and you can define a variable called "moddir" that establishes a search path for these modules.By default, this is set to search /kernel and /usr/kernel directories.
10. The kernel will then initialize itself and spawn the init process. The init will read the /etc/nittab and normal booting continues from there.
11. The kernel modules can be loaded and unloaded dynamically using the commands "modload" and modunload". You can see a list of the modules currently loaded in the memory using the command "modinfo". -
Invalid Partition Error with each boot after BIOS update???
Need help from the experts:
I have all of a sudden had problems with every boot, receiving an "invalid partition" error every timeI start my machine. ONly significant thing I have done lately is flash bios to v 1.1 on the K8N Neo2 Plat board using MSI tool. I had no such problems prior to flashing to 1.1, though I have had other problems related to memory voltage...
What, if anything, does BIOS have to do with it? my drives are both 160GB, formatted NTFS each a single large partition...is the system thinking that's an invalid partition size?
At any rate, I have already tried a complete low level format of my drives and re-install of Win XP Pro from scratch to make sure nothing was corrupted, and sure enough, upon next boot (needed to complete some driver installs) I get the same error. Of note, I also get an error re: one of my 2 DVD drives...related?
So, for now, the only way around this is to boot using XP CD, execute 'R' for recovery, then use DOS command 'FIXMBR' to write a new boot record, and then I am able to get back in...until the next re-boot.
Have had numerous issues with this board / bios, though this is the most profound one.
Need help...this is confounding me. What should I be looking into, trying next?
system:
AMD 64 3500+, stock cooling
Zalman 400B psu
MSI K8N Neo2 PLatinum mobo
2 GB Corsair XMS C2PT ram (4 x 512)

I get this error upon launching PS5: "could not open a scratch file because the file is locked or ou do not have the necessary access privileges. Use the 'properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file". The applicaiton will not launch.
Supporting information - I recently changed the scratch disk from C drive to D drive (the back up/restore drive). The application wont launch so I cant change it back to the C drive.
Questions:
- How to I fix this .. from windows explorer how do I find "the file" that the error message refers to?
- Other ways to fix this?

Error upon loading a video from the iTunes in the cloud
I bought a movie called Epic and when I tried to play on my Apple TV via streaming from the iTunes in the cloud it was playing until yesterday it start displaying an Error message "Error upon loading this video content". How long does it take for that to be corrected?
OK well, I think all that stuff about licensing is not true, unless explicitly stated
Just working off a gut feeling (or perhaps just wishing it weren't true)? I suggest actually checking:
https://www.google.com/search?q=us+rip+dvd+legal
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Millennium_Copyright_Act
Typically any mention of ripping DVDs may get a topic removed from the ASC forums since it is discussion of an "illegal activity" and subject to Terms of Use.
The key thing here is if you upload a file to your library, then try to replace that same file with the same file name, iTunes will ignore it and NOT overwrite the file that's already there. You have to delete the file off first and THEN add to library again.
Correct, iTunes works on a file basis not a track label basis. That's why I said delete the old file. You could have 20 identical files with the same name (in different folders) and iTunes will add them all right next to each other. Nothing new in iTunes behavior there. In fact if you had gone to the location where the media file was stored and copied a new one over the old one with the same name I believe iTunes would still know it wasn't the original. You can, however, edit a file using a third party tool and save it in place and iTunes will accept the changes without having to re-add the file. -
Error upon deploying a dataservices application
I'm getting a strange error upon deploying a data service project.
The data service project is very simple, I import a single webservice from a port via a URI reference. This import happens fine.
I then choose to build a dataservice from this webservice. I build and compile the project.
When I choose test view, I paste a preformatted xml request which works fine in SoapUI. However, when I try to execute, I get an error (after the bea workshop builds and deploys the application)
I get a java.lang.noClassDefFoundError: com/bea/ld/sql/api/SQLQueryRequest
I'm running ALDSP 2.5 on Weblogic 8.1.5
Please see the full attached error message, which is a screenshot from my BEA Workshop for Weblogic Platform IDE.Thank you mreiche. My workshop IDE set the Aqualogic Data Service Platform Application home to be the workshop home, not the liquiddata home!!
Now I get the following error:

As for deletion, feel free to switch iDisk Sync off and then toss the disk image. If you see a warning that the file is busy when you try to empty the Trash, log out and back in again and then empty the Trash.

Error biohd-2 boot path testing no drive detected
Hi, I have an error massage on boot path testing and says no drive detected. The error code is BIOHD-2. My dard drive and everthying is OK but somehow unable to boot. please help.
Hello ayaansharif:
These links might help you http://www.windowserrorhelps.com/biohd-2-error-fix-error-code-biohd-2-by-yourself-now , http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091109134242AAVBaGy, http://www.touchsmartdevzone.com/forum/thread/969/Error-Code-BIOHD-2/ ,http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/948483-solved-hp-desktop-selecting-proper.html Based on these answers it looks like they replaced the hard drive. Check your warranty status your computer maybe still under warranty. You can go to your computer's HP web page and click on manual go down your computers parts list and find what hard drive it uses then go to HP's computers parts ordering page and order one. If under warranty just contact HP Direct Support and they will ship you a new hard drive. They are not to difficult to install. Just time consumming removing the little screws. You may need to order a set of recovery disk from HP as well. Because HP's recovery disk include the operating system disks. Please click on Kudos if this resolves your issue. Thank you frrw. -

Laptop mode -- where to find error messages on boot
Hi guys,
I get some error messages when booting. I have the time to read that they are related to laptop-mode, but they quickly disappear.
I have activated the ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE_TOOLS in my laptop-mode.conf file, but I can't find the error messages in /var/log :

This happened yesterday, 8/24/2011 after downloading Apple iTunes 10.4. In Win 7 64bit I get the following error upon every reboot. "The procedure entry point xmlTextReaderConstName could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml2.dll" Please how do I fix this, Thanks.
In the case that your OS is Windows 7 (64 bit)
1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
2. Copy file "libxml2.dll"
3. Open new windows explorer, to to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
4. Paste file "libxml2.dll" to the location.
5. Reboot your computer, it should not display that message, it should be clear.
Good Luck
