  • Why does my network connection time out when downloading iphone 4 software update?

Why does my network connection time out when trying to download iphone4 software update?

I'm having the same problem too. I cannot sync or update over wireless or wired connections ever since I installed the most recent iTunes update. iTunes goes through the complete OS 5.0.1 download only to tell me the connection has timed out just when it seems ready to install. I've since reinstalled iTunes, I've ejected and done hard restarts on both my problem devices. I've disabled anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewall. No change in outcome except that, after doing all this, my final attempt to simply sync my 1st Gen iPad led to iTunes crashing and being automatically closed by windows just before finishing the final step. Is this a cruel joke, because I'm certain I can hear iTunes laughing at me for wasting so much time on this.

  • HT201210 i keep getting a error msg saying network connection time out.

Im trying to updat my iphone to new software and keep getting a error msg saying network connection times out. Plz help!!!!

    Thank you for the reply.
Yes, this error message is in regard to my MacBook Pro.  The reason it's filed here under iPhone is because the error message appeared again when I tried to updae iOS, again (and I wasn't allowed to because I need more room on my Startupdisk), so I simply clicked on the link taking me here to Apple Communities.   And yes I have already empited my trash (I did this each time I cleared old docs off my compuer, so this wasn't a solution for today).
Might you have any other ideas?   I am really at a loss......
Also, where is the Startup disk located?  I can't find any folder labeled "startup disk".   Am I supposed to find this folder and delete files from it?

  • HT4528 network connection time out

Whenever i am trying to sync applications from latop to iphone i am getting the message. Network connection time out.

Not sure if this will help or not... but is the iPhone and your laptop on the same wireless network when you try this? Does that wireless network have a good connection?
If nothing else works... try hard-syncing (plugging in) your iPhone to your laptop, and then start up iTunes.
I hope this helps... let me know if it does/doesn't!

  • Can't Download iPhone Apps - Network Connection Times Out?

Having problem downloading apps from iTunes for my iPhone 3GS via my desktop computer running Windows XP on a network with a Windows Server 2003 and a T-1 Internet connction.  The apps appear as "available for download" on he iTunes page. The connection starts but nothing downloads.  Error message says "network connection timed out." I checked password and is fine. I checked with IT guy who confirmed we have no firewall issue.  He thought probles was with ISP but ISP says there no proxy or any blocking.  When I try downloading directly to iPhone via WiFi in same network,  (via Linksys 54G router)  I also have the same problem.  Yet, if I turn off the WiFi, the apps download fine to the phone.  (I also cannot stream YouTube videos or Pandora music to the iPhone via the WiFi though those do appear to work on the desktop).  Any ideas?

Thanks Diesel. But as I wrote above that is what I suspected.  So I had my IT guy come in to double check and he confirmed that the firewall was off and that we do not use a proxy. I also ran the diagnostic from iTunes Help and re connectivity it reported firewall off and no proxy. I connect fine to the iTune Store and to the update server, etc. only timeout when downloading purchases from store.  My IT guy thought problem was with our ISP. But I opened trouble ticket with them and they reported back that they are not blocking a d ran traceroute from their server at NOC to iTunes with no problem.  They suggested was a password issue with iTunes but I double-checked and confirmed that is not the problem...

  • Everytime I connect to update message comes up saying There was a problem with the downloading The network connection timed out what should I do

After connecting with itunes phone starts update but then message comes up saying "There was aproblem downloading the software for the iphone The network connection timed out" How do I fix this problem?

Usual cause of this is security software on your computer: Firewalls & Anti-Virus software. Turn off or disable all of that stuff, try again.

  • Cannot sign in to iTunes - network connection times out?

I just got a new computer today. I downloaded iTunes and when I attempted to sign into the store, I got the message "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection timed out." I already followed as many Apple support articles as I could find but didn't get anywhere. When I ran the diagnostics in iTunes, everything checked out, including forming a secure connection to the iTunes store. Ideas?

I have done this already several times as well..If this was an individual virus/firewall issue I would imagine it wouldnt be happening to so many people all over the place at the same time...
looks like just about every other post in the last 24-48 hours is about Itunes not working with "timed out" type issues...

iTunes has never successfully accessed iTunes store.

After an upgrade, that profile is commonly du to firewall blocking.
Do you have any other firewalls even if you are not using them?
Have you ever had Norton even if you have uninstalled it? Norton is commonly preloaded on new PCs.
An old Norton can block iTunes if it has been uninstalled.
Are you using an administrator account? iTunes doesn't seem to think you are. It should not be a problem running from a limited user account. That is what I do except when I am installing programs.
Normally TLS 1.0 would be enabled, but I don't think this is the cause of the problem. It can be enabled from Internet Options>>Advanced tab.

  • ITunes 8 - Cannot connect to iStore - "network connection time out"

I've been running V7 with no problems. Updated to 8 (due wanting to use ipod Touch). Cannot connect to the iStore (everything else works fine). Receive the following message "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection timed out."
I've read other posts and tried the various suggestions i.e. switching off Norton, flushing the DNS etc. but still have the problem. Just de-installed iTunes and re-installed but still the same problem.
Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong ?
    Any help much appreciated.

P.S. My internet connection is working fine.

    Hi,
I've run through the suggestions. The internet setting were ok, deleted itunes.exe in the Norton Internet Security firewall settings and attempted to add it back BUT it will not for whatever reason. Below is the diagnostics as requested.
I don't understand why v7 worked from day 1 and I had no problems, installed v8 and all these problems arise, there is someting wrong somewhere.

  • HT201263 Please help, I'm extremely frustrated.  Have 4th G ipod touch stuck in recovery mode.  Tried connecting to another computer to restore.  Goes through 75 minutes of ipod software update then get a Problem downloading.  Network connection timed out

Please help, I'm extremely frustrated.  ipod is stuck in recovery mode.  Connected to different computer to restore and after 75 minutes of downloading get a message that there was a Problem downloading, network connection timed out.  Cannot get past "connect to itunes" on ipod.

Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves that error.

  • Why is my network connection timming out?

ok i am trying to update some apps from itunes but i always get the same message every time i try. "the network connection timed out,  make sure your network settings are connected" but my internet is fine.

I dont have the answer.. but mine is doign this too here in Califonia.. same issue.. also did this in the middle of and update and synce and now half my music is gone of my Iphone  on top of this. just great..

  • ITunes Match network connection time out error

I have just signed up to itunes match but at the end of step 1 I get a network connection error at the 'Waiting for apple to deliver your results' stage every time.
I have tried everything suggested on forums regaring unticking proxy server settings and turning off firewall but nothing works.
I have run diagnostics on itunes and it is coming up with two anomolies.  It is giving me a 'cannot make secure connection to itunes store' error although I can connect to itunes store I am wondering whether this is causing the problem with itunes match.
It is also stating in the diagnostics report that 'current user is not an administrator' although I am logged on with an adminstrator account on windows 7 64bit.
If anyone can point me in the right direction to sort this problem i would be very grateful.

Great thanks.  I am using NOD32 so hopefully that will be the culprit.  I will try this later when i get home as you have to restart the PC in safe made to uninstall ESET and I can't do that over a VPN link.
I was thinking of getting rid of ESET anyway as it is a bit cpu hungry.  I was thinking of just using the windows firewall and AV.  Did you reinstall ESET after itunes match worked?  And did it still continue to work if you did?
Sorry to bombard you with questions!
    Thanks again.

  • Network connection / time out errors

I am uploading a large number of photos to the internet. After a while (when not using my computer), I have a network connection error and the photos stop uploading. Do you have a solution to stop these errors when not using the computer?
If I was using the computer, this would not be a problem. It seems the computer may have gone to sleep and ceased the internet connection

What is your cellular reception level when this occurs?
Since a reset and restoring your iPhone with iTunes has not resolved it, I would give AppleCare a call at (800) 694-7466. After you explain the problem and what you have already tried to resolve it, the person you speak with will probably contact AT&T technical support as a conference call.

  • Network connection time out when connecting to Itunes store

When I try to connect to Itunes store i get this message:
"Itunes could not connect to iTuens sore network connection has times out Make sure your network connection is active and your network setting are correct"
Can some one walk me through or link me to a site or discussion so i can get this fixed

I had the same problem several days with the AppStore. Software-downloads did not proceed, i tryed everything, shut down firewalls, change the host-file, disable proxy-server - no success.
    I have Kaspersky-Suite as firewall and anti-virus-software.
    Accidentially I find a solution:
    - select in iTunes at downloads "Proceed" of a download-entry . iTunes then connect with the server, so it is enough time to:
    - right-click on the windows-tray-symbol of Kaspersky and select "stop service" (something like that, i work with the german version).
Now, surprise, the download proceed and starts working again. In case the download is freezing again:
    - Reactivea Kaspersky-service with right-click as described above, then deactive the serve again as i described.
Seems this "Workaround" opens a door to an network-connection Kaspersky usually block by itself.
Shutdown the firewall and finishing the Firewall-Software is a good idea, but you never know, which process is running in the background despite you shutdown everything possible...
Hope the "solution" is working for you!
