Error 3259 when downloading iOS 6 in itunes

I also can't OTA download, it also gives me an error. My internet is working, ive turned off antivirus and firewalls, flushed my dns, changed my dns as was suggested on a few posts, reinstalled itunes, updated windows, rebooted the phone, router and computer at least 10 times
Any ideas what to try next? I have a sony vaio laptop with windows 7, and the 4s iphone. My internet is a verizon 4g mifi if that matters. I've downloaded all the other updates for my phone and ipad just fine until today. Nothing has been changed until I started troubleshooting this morning.
Thanks so much!

Well I haven't gotten ios 6 on anything yet. We have two iphone 4s's and an ipad. Everything has always updated just fine before this update came out. My problem is when I try to download the actual update, it says the network timed out and to check my connection, but my internet is working fine. When I try OTA on the phone itself it trys for a while and then says update failed.

Have you tried updating via iTunes? I find that way's more reliable - I've never had any problems with updating that way.

  • Error 3259 when downloading OS version 3.0 on the iPhone

    Hi,
I'm getting error 3259 when I'm downloading version OS version 3.0 on the iPhone. It stops at 230MB out of 230.1 MB
I've reinstalled iTunes, I've disabled the antivirus and Windows firewall with no results. And there is no problem with my internet connection. (I've got OS Windows XP, SP 2, 32 bit on my laptop)
Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this issue?
    Thank you

Try actually removing your antivirus/antispware software (and make sure it is all of them) and try again.

  • Error 3259 when downloading large podcasts

When I download podcasts that are larger than around 200MB I often get an error 3259. iTunes starts downloading and after downloading 100 MB or so I get this error. When I retry often enough the download sometimes goes through.
Does any anybody else see this problem? I am using a Macbook Pro with the latest Yosemite build and the latest iTunes version.
Small files < 100MB download without problems.
I have seen some information about this error but it seems mostly related to firewall problems. My firewall is turned off.

Do not confuse -3259 with +3259
iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297 > Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) - includes list of iTunes error codes
    "Error 3000" through "3999"
Alerts with codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the gs.apple.com server on ports 80 or 443. This may be because out-of-date or incorrectly configured security or firewall software is interfering, or due to your Internet proxy settings. If you are using a proxy, try removing the proxy settings, or using a known-good network. If that does not resolve the issue, follow iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.

  • Error-3259 when sharing music on itunes 6.0.4.

I've searched everywhere to find a solution for this error with no answers. I've almost given up using itunes. I've purchased the powerbok G4 months ago and downloaded itunes 6.0.4 version. I don't know if this version is incompatible with the older versions, but I receive an error -3259 everytime I try to share music. They claim that it is for an unknown reason and asks me to check if my computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689. I've looked into it and and everything seems fine. I am still new with Mac and have been asking around, yet no one seems to know why. I've checked the firewall and made sure it was set correctly, checked my airport, and made the correct changes on itunes preferences-no luck.
Any comments would be great!! Thanx

    Hey, CardsFan
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
That is a very common problem,
    - Just uninstall the whole software.
    - Use a registry cleaner software and clean the reg
    - Restart the pc
    - Download fresh copu of itunes from the Apple site
    - Install
    And them you are done.
I really hope this helps you. Let me know if it does. If not feel free to give me a shout. Best of luck.

  • Error 50 when downloading movie from iTunes

A movie I downloaded previously from iTunes onto my laptop (Win7) wasn't playing from my iPad2, so I erased it from the iPad and tried re-syncing it from my laptop...fail.  After purchasing it a 2nd time from my laptop, the downlaod fails 25% into it, giving me a error 50.  I've tried doing this hardwired and wirelessly with the same result, ran the network test....nothing.  Any ideas?

  • Error message when downloading iOS 5!

"The software for the iPod "My iPod" was corrupted during download" is the message I keep getting when the download for iOS 5 is complete. I'm using the latest iTunes, there's no problems there. I was just wondering why this problem came up, and what can be done to fix it? Thanks!

Same error (above).... again! I put my iPod into restore mode, but once again, it forces the update.

    Hello spk15,
The only suggestion I have to offer is to take a look at this Apple support document if you haven't done so yet.

  • Error -23 when downloading iOS 5 HELP

My current iPhone 4 software is 4.3.5. Oh, and i'm using a MacBook Pro running on Mac OSx 10.6.8. I've tried downloading the iOS 5 countless times and each time the error -23 would appear. It says "There was a problem dowloading the software for the iPhone 'abc123'. An unknown error occured". I've tried many of the solutions on apple's solutions page and they didn't help. Some kind soul please help me out please!!

I got off the phone with an apple support assistant pertaining to error -23. For myself, it is due to internet settings that my ISP provides that prevents the upgrade. (Are you in Singapore with the ISP Singtel? The apple support assistant specifically mentioned Singtel users as having the -23 error.) The apply support assistant adviced me to wait out for 2 business days and then see if I can upgrade. I hope this is the case for you too.
Otherwise, error -23 means either a hardware error or improperly configured settings, which shouldn't be the case if you have itunes 10.5 and the latest osx build.

  • Error 3259 when downloading OS 3.0

I have tried to download OS 3.0 4 times now and every time I get the 3259 error, I have followed Apples advice of disabling my firewall and antivirus software but this has had no effect. I have no problem with downloading music. Please help, thankyou.

Exact same issue. I'm trying for the 5th time on my XP machine (firewall faithfully disabled, even though all the other aspects of the iTunes and App stores work just fine with it on) while I download updates to my MacBook to see if I can make it work over there.
Does iTunes save this file anywhere? The worst part about trying this multiple times is that even on my cable connection, a ~260 MB file takes some time, and I'd love to try to use the file that I've downloaded 4 times already. Are they cached? Have I lost a gig of HD space downloading this file over and over?
So far I'm very unhappy with my $10 purchase (which by the way, had no issues finding my bank and taking the funds), and will be recommending against updating iPod/iPhone to others until Apple finds a way to fix this on Windows.
Edit: Glad to hear you fixed it Jeremy, but my only firewall is the Windows one, and the system helpfully reminds me that it's currently disabled. I'm also using NOD32, so I'll disable that and give it a go.

  • I get an unknown error (-50) when downloading movies from iTunes

When I download a movie or TV show from iTunes, it starts downloading like normal, then the "time remaining" starts ticking up rapidly. Sometimes it keeps downloading, and then starts over suddenly, but eventually it always leads me to the (-50) unknown error. It also charges me for the movie/TV show. Any ideas how to fix it?

I have a 30g Video Ipod and I have been having
problems with it trying to syn up. I downloaded the
Vista update for it and still no syncing but when I
tried to update the Ipod I got this message.
Ipod cannot be updated. An unknown error occured
    (-50).
If anyone knows what this means and possibly could
give me help with it, I would appreciate it very much.
Same thing happened to me last night. It was right after I DL the update given by apple for Windows Vista. I just closed everything restarted my computer and tried again and it worked. Just that now all my Album Artwork is messed up. I'm listening to Fall Out Boy and I get the artwork for Grey's Anatomy Podcast. Weird. I have no idea how to fix it either.

  • Error 3259 when downloading iPhone os 5

The download to iTunes in Windows 7 goes well untill the very end when this timed out error appears.
    Any suggestions?

I am having an identical error message on HP laptop running Vista (my girlfriends lappy and iphone 4, im a mac user:))
a google search seems to point to a network issue with security, such as firewall settings, etc etc, but we never had this problem before - for example when updating to iOS4.01 - and nothing has changed since then in terms of settings. I will check these settings at the earliest oportunity, but if anyone has any suggestions in the meantime, i would be very grateful to hear them...
