Error 3259 when trying to update to 4.2

Hi
My iphone is currently on 3.1.3 and i am trying to update to 4.2 to no avail!
I have turned off the windows firewall, disabled Kaspersky anti virus on my laptop, connected to my broadband router directly via an ethernet cable but it still wont update!
I have also tried to download the file only - still the same message.
The furthest I seem to get is to 'processing file' then i get an error message saying network connection timed out (-3259)!!
I have tried over the last few days almost constantly so have given it plenty of chances!!!
Help!! Is there anything else i can do?? Seriously am going out of my mind.... surely cant be this hard!!

Some of my apps are now not working... assume it needs version 4??
I thought if I restored settings it might then update with new version? Do I just press restore on iTunes?

I have gone through this numerous times, and the download takes place, and starts to process, then I get the error 3259. I am running Windows Vista along with Kaspersky Internet Security 2011. I was having the same problem and after several weeks of technical support they basically gave-up and suggested I try installing Kaspersky KIS v12 (2012) (not yet released, but available on their ftp download site as a "current version").
Anyway, I installed it and now I can update my iOS on my iPhone and iPad. Voilla!
However, Kaspersky claim that this is not a common problem. Yeah, right!
If you want to upgrade to KIS v12 (2012) or KAV v12 (2012), then here is how:
1) Download v12 (2012) from the ftp site here:
ftp://ftp2.kasperskyftp.com/consumer-products/Current_Versions/KIS2012/
2) Disconnect from Internet (doh!)
3) Stop Kaspersky (right click on the "K" in the tool tray and select "Exit")
4) Uninstall Kaspersky from the Control Panel (Programs / Add-Delete Programs)
5) Reboot after uninstalling old version
6) After rebooting, install KIS/KAV v12 (2012)
7) When it prompts for install key, re-connect to the Internet and enter the key code (usually on the back of the envelope the original installation disk is in). The key code for earlier versions should work (at least it did for code with KIS 2010, two versions earlier).
8) Reboot when done
Finally, if this works for you (or anyone else), please post here, since Kaspersky seems to think it is very rare case that it worked for me... ha!

I have tried everything! Updating my system, using system restore, turning off all my firewalls, updating all my security programs, uniinstalling iTunes, reinstalling iTunes, googling the answer and I can't seem to find anything to do with this specific error anywhere! What do I do?

While normally it is much more accurate to search with the accurate and complete error message, including all punctuation and error codes, in your case here is a KB that discusses that error:

I only have 1 apple ID and the same was used to set up this early 2011 macbook pro and iPhoto app. I don't want to loose out on any photos. I tried logging out of app store and back in but no luck. PLEEAASEE HELPP!!!
This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
After making your backup try the following:
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support, as Niel pointed out: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

Try signing out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again and see if that works for you.
Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap your ID and sign out.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Sign in again -Settings>Store>Apple ID - sign in.
If that doesn't work either, reset your iPad and see if that helps.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Keep getting error 4002 when trying to update Genius

I haven't seen anyone write about getting error 4002 when trying to update genius in itunes. I select update genius and it gathers information and sends it to the itunes store I assume. And then waits a few seconds and then I get the following message "Genius results can't be updated right now. An unknown error occurred (4002) Please try again later." I've been getting this message for well over a month and I keep hoping they'll be an update or somehow it will magically be fixed, but nothing has changed. Anyone have any insight on this one?
The current ituned library it 123GB and is stored on external drives. It should also be noted that when I first turned on genius when it was released it went through this whole problem without a hitch. I just can't update Genius with any of the music I've added since then. I can't even get genius to recognize music that I got from the itunes store since I've had the problem.

Be careful - this was a disaster for me. Once I did this, I got a different error - an error 4010 and in trying to recover, caused a lot of library issues that forced me to go to a backup to fix. You'll find a lot of people having the 4010 problem. Basically iTunes Genius is a disaster and Apple isn't fixing it.

Probably no need for concern, but it would be a good idea to run the update again, just in case everything did not "stick".
Always connect your Mac using an Ethernet cable to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule whenever you do an update....if at all possbile.
Once the update is done, you can disconnect the Ethernet cable.

I tried to install the new update Ovimusic 11.4 on my 5800XP but without success. I get always the same error. Following the instructions I uninstalled Ovisuite and reinstalled it, but the same error occurred. Did somebody have the same problem and what can I do?
