Error 32812

Dear Sir,
I am using Fieldpoint 2010. When I tried to download ( or deploy) the file I am getting the
error 32812 fieldpoint specified tag name not found. I followed the same steps given in the site.
I tried many ways but still getting the same error.
what does this error mean?
How to get rid of this error?
Please help me.
Thanks in advance.

Sainath

Hi sainath,
The reason you are getting this error message is probably because the software
you are attempting to install requires additional software to run
properly.  Please take a look at What
Does the Message "Cannot Process Install Because Other Dependencies are
Required" Mean? to resolve this issue.
If this is not the same issue you are seeing, please post the actual error
message.
Best of luck on your application, and have a wonderful day!!

  • Why do I get Error 32812?

I wrote a VI, which worked perfectly.
After addressing the cFP from the network instead of from the PC, some Read tags gave Error 32812.
For one of them I deleted them and wrote them again, and the error was recovered. But then it appeared for another module.
From MAX I can perfectly read the channels. I also tried to "find items" again.
What could be the reason and the cure?
    thanks

    Dear Francesca,
quite a few documents exist on your problem.
    I'd start checking into them.
You can use the keyword 32812in the "seach"  field in www.ni.com and find

  • Error 32812 (Specified Tag Name not Defined) from FP Read

I built an application using LabVIEW 7.1 and FieldPoint 4.1.  It
performed well until about a week ago.  Suddenly, I started getting
error 32812 (Specified Tag Name Not Defined) when doing an FP Read to
read all the channels on an FP-RLY-420.  This is installed at a
client's site, but my client assures me that nothing changed in the
computer configuration.  There is a dual serial card installed (SIIG
    Cyberserial DualPCI dual 16550
RS232 Serial I/O Card), which does seem to cause problems (mouse jumps
erratically), and I wonder if this card could be contributing to the
problem, but I'm not sure why I would get the specific error message
    I'm getting.
In looking for info on the problem, I did find an article on
registering the MIS files, but I have tried selecting "Find Devices"
through MAX while logged on as an admin, and the error still occurs.
If anyone has any ideas as to what could be causing the problem, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jason

    Hello Jason,
I think that the error you are seeing could be caused by either 1) a
mismatch between the tag names saved on your computer and the actual
channel names on the module, or 2) a problem with how the serial port
is communicating with the module (only applies if you are using a
serial communication module, as opposed to an Ethernet module).
For the first issue, you have already tried to reconcile any
differences in tag names by reregistering the MIS files.  Since
that didn't work, I would recommend trying to recreate your entire
FieldPoint system in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX),
including the IAK file.  I know it is kind of extreme, but I would
recommend just deleting your FieldPoint configuration in MAX, deleting
the IAK file, and resetting the address and recreating your
    configuration.
I think that troubleshooting a serial communication problem could be a
little more difficult.  I would recommend browsing through the
following documents for some possible troubleshooting ideas.

  • Error 32812: specified tag name not found

    Hello,
I've just started using LabView 7.1 (under Windows) with a Compact Fieldpoint and developed a small data acq. test program. I've built an install and installed the program on another PC. I've also installed MAX onto the target PC and loaded up the Fieldpoint iak file into MAX. Everything worked fine the first time I did this and my program communicated with the Fieldpoint. Now, I've just installed a new version of my program and I'm getting an error 32812 specified tag name not found when I use the FP Read.vi.
Any ideas what is wrong? I presume that my iak file has the wrong tags in it? But it's the same one saved from my development PC! I did notice a slight difference in the versions of MAX, my development PC has
3.1.1.3003 and the target PC has 3.1.0.3021. If this is the problem where do I find an updated install for MAX
    Many thanks

  • Error 32812 FP Write.VI

I have been running a cFP-2110 with labview 8.0 for about year without any problems.  Recently I changed the IP address on the cFP-2110 and since then I continue to get the error 32812 FP write.VI.  I have searched the message board about the error and tried several of the solutions without correcting the problem.  I went as far as deleting the remote system in MAX and then rebuilding the system with a new name and did have some success.  After rebuilding the system and then creating a new project and building a simple test vi the system worked error. However, when I close the project and only have the VI open, I get the same error 32812 FP write.VI.  If I reopen the project and run the test VI it runs error free.  Before changing the IP address and on the two other compact fieldpoint system I have in the lab I don't have this problem and have never had to keep the project explorer window open to run a VI.
On the system that gives me the error, when I have the project open the test VI is listed on the Project Explorer window under the My computer icon (just above dependencies and build Specifications).  However I on my other computer that is running LabView 8.5 and running two additional compact fieldpoint systems the VI's are not listed on the project explorer page.  I feel like the error has a simple fix that I am overlooking something but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong or how just changing the IP address created the error.  Any help resolving the problem would be much appreciated.
    Thank you

    Mark,
Thanks for you reply.  I'm sorry I didn't get right back to you posting the information you requested.  Here is the example program, the project and the config file.  The program runs error free if I have the project open in the project explorer.  If I close the project explorer window than the program gives me the error code most of the time, but not all the time.  I can't figure out why the project window must be open to run a VI.
    Thanks for you help.

  • Error 32812 when using FP.

I’m using LV 7.1 and Measurement and Automation version 3.1.0.3021. When I build and run my executable on my host machine the application works just fine. However when I try run the application on a target machine W/O LV I get 32812 error. I’ve read many of the discussions on this problem and have tried all the recommended solutions without any success. My tags are spelled correctly. This problem is documented within NI and they have not provided much help. Have any of you guys out there in the trenches been able to overcome this issue or find the root cause?

    Hi Jim_lmco,
    A few suggestions:
If you try reading from different channels, does the error occur as well?
If you create an installer for one of the FieldPoint shipping examples in LabVIEW (Help >> Find Examples), what happens?
Also, if you look at the .iak file on the computer without LabVIEW installed, do you see the channels you're trying to read from?
Did you have a chance to try the following example program which grabs the tags from the .iak file?
Fieldpoint Display IAK File in LabVIEW
    Thanks,

  • Continuous Loop Error

I have a program that calculates wet bulb from a few user inputs. It is set up to read from a FP-TC-120 for a dry bulb temperature and a FP-AIO-610 for a 0-10v signal from a humidity transmitter. When using two "FP Read" functions the program would read successfully from both modules and calculate for only one iterations. AFter that the the read for the analog input would give error 32812, the read from the thermocouple does not return any errors but the value is now zero. I then replaced the "FP Read" for the anaolog module to "FP Advise". With this set-up I get two succesful reads before the error message and the 0 thermocouple reading. I'm not sure what else could be the problem.

Something else to take care of is the error handling. You split the error chain before the loop starts but only maintain the upper branch. The way the code is written, If an error occurs reading the second tag you'll never see it. The result is that the program will stop working and you won't know why.
Attached is a VI I wrote for merging two error streams.

  • How to use 2 FP-1601 Controllers in one application

How do I use two FP-1601 controllers at the same time in a labview application?  I need more than 9 modules, so I am forced to use two 1601 controllers.  When I open MAX, I am able to see the two controllers (each with separate 192.168.1.x addresses) in the Remote Systems, but I cannot view or change the values of the second controller in Data Neighborhood.
Also, when I attempt to read/write the second controller in Labview, I get an error 32812 stating "The specified tag name was not found".
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
This KnowledgeBase article may have the solution to your issue.
You should be able to use two 1601 controllers in the same fashion as you would use one. Simply use a FP Read.vi or FP Write.vi with an I/O Point assigned.  Of course, you will need to use a separate FP Read or Write VI for each module you want to sample from.
Let me know if this helps.

  • Reading and Storing Temperature

    Hello,
I am new to LabVIEW programming. I have jsut purchased the cFP-1804 and TC-120. My goal is to read the 8 thermocouple temperatures simulateneously, display that data on screen and store it in an excel file. Currently, I am trying to just read the thermocouples. I have started out with one to keep things simple. I was able to read the temperature in MAX when I tested the channel. I figured al I needed to do was go to the the block diagram of my project go to Express>>Input>>Fieldpoint. This brings up the configure Fieldpoint window I browse and find the channel I want to use and wire the value out area to a numeric indicator. However when I run it I get the "Error 32812 occurred at FP Read.vi". I have searched the forums and don't quite understand the KB articles. I would figure if I went through the configure FieldPoint window it would have performed all of the work for me.
So, my first question is, Am I performing the read operation with the correct VI? I would ideally like to have just have indicators on the front panel and not have to insert the iak file name and the other information associated (ie - have all of this information preprogrammed).
Is there an easy way to wire a button to the VI to initiate the temperature being read? There does not seem to be a place to wire a boolean button to the Express>>Input>FieldPOint VI I've chosen.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I tried the Instrument IO Assistant put I get a prompt telling me that MAX or Instrument IO assistant is not isntalled correctly. I have these install CD's at work so I can't check and see if that is the problem. I am sure MAX is installed correcly b/c I have been using it. Is the instrument IO assistant an add on?
Since I cannot use the Instruement IO Assistant I thought I would try my luck with the FieldPoint VI's. I was unable to find any example VI's that shipped with the FieldPoint.
But I did wire up a program that I was sure to work. I wanted to read a single thermocouple. So I wired a FieldPoint IO vi to the FR Read (polymorphic) vi which in turn connect to a Waveform chart. I just wanted this to run conitnuously, so, I put a while loop around it to run.
Upon starting the program I get the error: "Error 32812 occurred at FP Read.vi"
I searched the forums for why this error could have occured and tried the fix  the knowledge base article (Why Do I Get Error 32812 From Some FieldPoint Modules But Not Others?) gave. The fix basically says to go into MAX and click
"Find Devices" I did that and it did not help. Anyone have any
expreience with this error? I would greatly appreciate the help.
The funny thing is I can write to my DO-400 module without any errors but not the TC-120 (I am trying to read from).
    Thanks

  • New computer old setup

    Hi,
First I should say I am new in Labview so , some of the questions might sound stupid .  I have been using an old setup which has FP-1000F P-RTD-122 and FP-RLY 422 . I was using an old computer which has Windows NT with Labview 7.1. That computer died and I am now using and XP one  with Labview 8.5.
I thought things will be easy, I will just  copy the files that I am using in the old computer and it will work in the new one but it did not happen like that.
I could not find any drivers for these hardware,  I am not sure If I need one or not.  While loading the File it can not  find subfieldpoint.vi  file. I guess that is  what enables my RTD 122 and RLY 422 connect to Labview.
    Any  suggestions ?
    Thank you
    Erdem
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thank you , now I can see my Fieldpoint devices in MAX  and I create an aik file. I load that aik file when I run  my vi file.
But now it gives me an error.

  • Transfer cFP 1808 bank to delivery computer

I have a cFP setup working fine in LV 2010 on my development computer. Now I need to move it to a delivery computer. I copied all the project including the.iak to the (shiny) new computer which has LV and PF and Visa etc all freshly installed and apparently working.
I connect the ethernet cable and MAX does not see this bank of cFP. It will not recognize the IP address (192.168.1.2) the computer IP is 192.168.1.109.
The Ethernet port works because when I connect it to the modem, my network name shows up.
The cable works because it works on my development computer
I get error 32812 when I try to read one of the TC modules.
Any help will be gratefully received.
    John

    Hi jbrohan,
In order to switch the FieldPoint to the delivery computer, you will need to make sure the FieldPoint drivers are installed on the new computer.   Also, you will need to set up the computer's network settings according to this KB.  Once you do this, you should be able to locate the FieldPoint.  If you still can't see the device, try to ping it using the IP address and the windows command prompt.  If you cannot ping the device, than that usually means there is something wrong with the network settings.
Do you have multiple networks cards on the delivery computer?   If you do, you may want to refer to this KB.
    Hope this helps!

  • FP items not case sensitive?

Noticed the following odd behavior for FieldPoint in MAX:  The item names are NOT being considered as case-sensitive apparently.  For instance, I cannot rename my "All" item to "ALL"  -- I get a message that the item already exists.
However, when you go to FP Create tag, etc., the items names are case sensitive, i.e., "All" is not the same as "ALL."
    Not consistent, ey?
    -Khalid

    Hi Khalid,
I tried doing the same thing that you stated and cannot get the same behavior.
If you try running anything with an invalid name (different cases or not) then you get the following message:
"Error 32812 occurred at  The specified tag name was not found. : FP Create Tag .vi
    Possible reason(s):
FieldPoint:  The specified tag name was not found."
It seems that the error in MAX (where you are not allowed to enter
things with the same names but different cases) and the error in
LabVIEW (when something of a different case is entered) are essentially
the same error just expressed in different ways.

  • Frequency measurement

I am trying to configure a Fieldpoint FP-CTR-502 to read values from an anemometer (Campbel Scientific A100R Switching) but I have no sucess.
I tried to follow the example at "http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=110&message.id=3619" but have no sucess. When I run the .vi I get the error "Error 32812 occurred at  The specified tag name was not found. : FP Write.vi"
I am using Labview 8, Field point 4.1 and MAX 4.0.
Any help would be very helpfull, because I am realy very novice with all these Fieldpoint and Labview Stuff.
    Thank you,
    Márcio

    Márcio,
the thing with the read reset mode is, that the reset is initiated by software
and therefore has a certain latency. So if you don't read the value not
to often from the counter module (let's say twice a second or so -
should be possible) and reset the counter after that, it should not be
a problem. For faster readings don't reset the counter's register, but
calulate the register value incrementally (build the difference between
the actual value and the preceeding and use this difference for
    calculating the windspeed).
We successfully did this with some applications in the past and I hope this also helps you with your application
    Cheers, Stefan

  • Labvew is not recognizing the .iak file

    hi-
I am trying to execute my program in labview, using my cFP-2020.  However, it will not recognize my .iak file.  When I go to view configuration, it is listed with the correct file path but will not go to the file.  It is giving me an error message 32812.  I have tried moving the .iak file to a different location and no change.  When I execute the program in my RT target, it works fine.  Also, everything in MAX works fine.  I am using LabView 7.1 with the simple FP write vi.  I read through the other posts and could not find anything that would fix the problem.
    Thanks,
    Curt

    Hi Curt,
Try creating a new .iak file within Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and referencing it instead.  Now does a simple program with FP Write work?  If so, refer to the knowledgebase article titled Error 32812 From FieldPoint VIs for more information (situation 5).  If not, please post back and we will continue to troubleshoot.

  • I need help with error code 32812:

Hi. I am trying to read in some voltages using FP-AI-112. A while ago, I developed a Labview program to do that, and it worked fine. Now, I'm going back and using it again, and I keep getting the error code 32812: "the specified tag name is not found." I have checked and rechecked my tag name in Fieldpoint Explorer over and over again, and I swear that the tag name in my program is identical to the one in Fieldpoint Explorer. Please help. Thanks.

Which version of FP Explorer are you using? Did check the configuration of the IAK file itself?
