Error 3390 with Bridge CS4

Everytime I open Bridge it unexpectedly quits. I don't know if this has anything to do with my problem, but I'm using CS4 software with my Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2

amazyng,
Did you use the full three step way?
Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall?

  • RAM issues/questions with Bridge CS4

    Hi,
I've become a little perplexed with Bridge CS4.  I constantly get an "out of memory" error with bridge when working with many large files (21 megapixels) through adobe camera raw, despite having a bullet proof system.  First, some system specs:
    Vista 64-bit
    Intel i7 3.2GHz processor
    12 Gb of 1600Mhz RAM
    Dedicated separate scratch disc
    This computer just freakin rips!
So photoshop (the 64 bit version) just runs like a breeze, despite vista being its stupid self and taking up about 1.6 gigs of ram just for the OS.  However, I am mainly wondering that if Bridge isn't a 64 bit program (it is installed in the x86 program files. Only photoshop is installed in the 64-bit program files) then maybe it can't utilize the extra ram over 4 gigs?  If so, then it is severely crippled and limited to the 4 gig ceiling shared with the RAM thirsty OS.
Does anyone actually know and have any answers?  I know the "out of memory" error has long been discussed but never seems to come to some solid conclusions.  And really, there is no reason why bridge should be out of memory on a 12 gig system with 9 of those just sitting free when it say its supposedly "out of memory".
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

If I remember correctly the window's paging file is set to a discrete size, believe recomended 1.5 x ram size.  If Bridge is running in 32 bit mode guess you only need 6 gig paging file, but would more do anything?  How large is it, is it on a seperate partition?  Also consider this:
If a paging file resides on a partition that contains other data, it  may experience fragmentation as it expands to satisfy the extra virtual memory that is required. An unfragmented paging file leads to faster virtual memory  access and to a greater chance of a dump-file capture that is free of significant errors.
    Is fragmentation a consideration?

  • Doubt concerning licence  - generating web galleries with Bridge CS4

Hi, I would like to know if I could generate web galleries with Bridge CS4 and place them in web pages which I intend to sell? There is a possibility to generate web galleries in Bridge CS4. Can I place any of them to a web page which I want to sell?

Why do you even doubt it?
If you use a brush and a bucket of paint to create a for-sale sign and sell that sign to your neighbor to stick in his lawn, would you be asking the manufacturers of the paint and of the brush if you can sell it your sign commercially?
    Come on, get real.
As long as you are not giving away copies of the software or pieces of its code, Bridge and Photoshop are just tools.

  • Problem with Bridge CS4 reading/editing XMP metadata added in Bridge CS6

Please excuse me if this is a dumb/obvious question. I did try searching the forums for similar problems and didn't find anything that seemed to speak to my issue.
I'm having a problem where Bridge CS4 won't read/edit xmp metadata (specifically, keywords and descriptions in the IPTC panel) that I have entered using CS6. it will read some files, not others. The files are all .mp4s. Of these files, I can read/edit IPTC panel metadata for some of them in Bridge CS4; I can add metadata for all of them in CS6. I see no particular pattern in these files to explain what is and isn't read/editable in CS4.
My question is whether this is a compatibility issue between different versions of CS (in this instance, CS4 and CS6). i know it's a tired refrain to blame software when it could easily be user error, in which case I'd be frankly delighted to know what i'm doing wrong. Please bear with me as I give a few more details.
I'm using macs. I've tried this on multiple systems - for instance, on a mac pro 3 which for some reason has both CS4 and CS6 installed, i can add and edit keywords using CS6, but not when using CS4. Again, in CS4, some .mp4 files read/edit, others do not.
Bridge CS4 blames the files and tells me that the selected file cannot store xmp metadata, and that the properties cannot be modified. To be specific, in the metadata panel it says "this property cannot be modified"; in the keyword panel, it says, "This file (zzz.mp4) cannot store xmp metadata. No changes will occur." This seems odd, because I'm able to add xmp metadata for the same files in CS6 on the same computer, and other computers. I know this problem would disappear if all our computers were using CS6 (or CC), but unfortunately that's not a possibility at the moment. Some of them only have CS4.
Computer details (not an exhaustive list, but two instances): mac pro 3.1 running snow leopard, 16GB memory; macbook pro 4.1 running snow leopard, 4GB memory; adobe bridge cs6 (5.0.0.399) and cs4 (3.0.0.464).
    Things I have tried:
Permissions - the files are set to read/write for everyone. Given that I can add/edit metadata in CS6, it doesn't seem to be a permission issue.
Purging the cache - other users seem to have had problems adding metadata in Bridge CS4 where purging the cache for affected files solved the problem. Didn't work in this instance.
Upgrading all affected computers to CS6/CC is beyond my control. I need to figure out why CS4 won't let me read/add/edit xmp metadata, if only for the sake of understanding the broader implications for interoperability.
Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    adobe bridge cs6 (5.0.0.399) and cs4 (3.0.0.464).
Without having experience with mp4 files and metadata my observation is that you certainly have not updated Bridge CS6 ( should be 5.0.2.4) and I believe also not the latest version of CS4, can't imaging this also stayed at .0.0 so first try to update both.
And if CS4 can read the data of some files it should be capable of reading them all. Be sure to have the files completely cached first, can take a while.
Other things to try in CS4 is refresh preferences (hold down option key while restarting Bridge and choose reset prefs).
And also check for hidden cache files using menu view/show hidden files. Sometimes those cache files can be troublesome between versions.
If purge cache did not work and reset prefs also failed consider to also delete Bridge plist file and Bridge cache file manual (from user library)

  • Problems with Bridge CS4.

    Dear members:
Since my last disappointing experiences with Bridge I decided I would wait until CS4 had been out for a while and Adobe had the chance to clean all the bugs and problems with the first releases. I am now beginning to use the CS Premium suite and Bridge is by far the one application I used the most to browse my large library of photos.
In trying to use for the past few days I have run into numerous problems. Some of them are:
    1. When I first launch the application I get an error message stating the following:
" Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation. "
    2. While building previews for a folder with approximately 200 images Bridge displayed a message stating the it was low on memory and suggesting I should restart it. This has happened to other folders and not just this one, some with more and some with less images. I am sure the issue has nothing to do with memory as I have always used Bridge CS3 with these folders without any such problems.
    3. Despite the fact that all my image folders contain thumbnails and previews previously created by CS3 the new Bridge CS4 treats them as if they contained nothing. The application starts the whole process all over again and takes longer than CS3 did to perform the same task.
My computer is a Powermac G5 dual 2.0 GHz with 4.5 GB RAM and two internal 1.5 GB HD. Considering this kind of internal RAM I don't think memory should be an issue.
I ran the update tool but couldn't find any newer version of Bridge CS4. To the best of my knowledge I am running the latest versions of all applications in the CS4 Premium suite
Some of the questions I have are:
    1. Can't CS4 use the thumbnails and previews that were previously built by Bridge CS3 ? Will the application have to start this whole process all over again for every single folder I have ?
    2. Why all these error messages and bugs ?
    3. Is CS4 really slower than CS3 ? So far this has been my experience.
    4. Considering at least one bug remains from the previous CS3 version (the little triangles that appear next to folders even when there are no subdirectories) how many problems should I expect to find with this new version ?
My apologies for all the questions above but the answers are important as I am now beginning to use the application for critical tasks.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Joseph

There appears to be many problems in all versions of Adobe Creative Suite with Bridge.
I have a few post currently and even the employees of Adobe seem very uninterested in helping at all. They sure offer info on posting correct data and correct forum but little else to help resolve our problems.
The majority of problems you  are incurring I have had and 99% were cured within the "Security>User" settings. Check similiar posts that are listed to the right of your post.
The final problem of "Not enough memory" has still not been resolved. Phone Tech support is no longer available free and I even paid for 1 session, spent 3.5 hours with the Tech and problem was "escalated"....that was in August 2010!!
    Good luck!

  • I can't find my network with Bridge CS4

With Bridge CS3, I used to be able to connect to any machine on my network. There was a network icon (globe) in the folder browser pane. Now I don't know how to find other computers on my network from Bridge CS4. How do I do that in CS4?

So far my fiancé and I haven't been able to find a direct option from bridge to do this either. However we did find that if you open the network from Photoshop CS4, you can drag and drop the network from there into bridge.
Sucks that you can't do it right from bridge, but at least it's still possible!

  • Error 6 with legitimate CS4 copy?

I've had my copy of CS4 installed and working on my computer for a while now (over a year) with no problems. (Windows 8.1) It is a legitimate copy with a license key.
Suddenly (I'm not sure what happened to change anything) whenever I try to open a program, I get the Error 6 alert and am unable to open the program. (I mostly only use Photoshop and Illustrator, though I have tried other programs to the same result.)
I've been unable to find a solution to this, so I figured I would try to uninstall and re-install again, however when I go to Uninstall Programs, and select Adobe CS4, it says "An error occurred trying to uninstall Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection. It may have already been uninstalled." (and offers to remove it from the list.) I never uninstalled it, however, and all the files are still listed in their folders.
I'm at a loss of what I should do next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Additionally, I've seen people encounter similar Error 6 problems when they have transferred their files from one computer to another, or have illegal copies. As I stated, this is a legitimate copy (which I've been using for years), and it has previously worked on this computer, up until this point. I have no idea what changed. I didn't move any of the files, and they all appear to still be there, even though I cannot open them.

The error message reads as follows:
"Licensing for this product has stopped working." [header]
"This product has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched.
If you continue to see this message after restarting your computer, please contact either your IT administrator or Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error codes shown at the bottom of this screen.
    Error: 6
    http:www.adobe.com/support/"
Of course, I've restarted my computer multiple times since this error began occurring, to no avail.

  • Organizing Images with Bridge CS4

Since I am new to Bridge, I would appreciate some advice from you veterans. For now, I have decided to locate my images in various sub-folders in the Pictures folder ( located in my Home folder). For those images that I choose to save both the Raw file along with the edited .tif or .jpeg file, is there a way to "stack" the Raw file & the edited file to reduce clutter?
Thank you for any help & suggestions.

  • Bridge CS4 crashes with last Nvidia driver (195.62)

    Sorry for my bad english...
This message because since november I have crashes with Blue Screnn of the Death when I used Bridge CS4, even when no other programs running on my PC.
Or my computer became veru slow when I open Bridge...
Or Error messages saying that Bridge must close because not enough memory (I have 3gO RAM and 512 on my graphic card Nvidia 9500, and not at all used when I have the message....)
I tried many and many things (uninstall and reinstall Photoshop, change preferences of Photoshop, Bridge, change memory in Windows...) and Bridge always crashes after some minutes of use.
I searched in many forums, and saw many people have the same problem, but nobody have the solution.
Yesterday, in the "Event viewer", in "system", I had the message : "the driver nv_disp of the peripherical display \Device\Video0 remained blocked in an infinite curl. It points out a problem with the material or with the driver of the material programming the equipment in the wrong manner"
So I went to a problem with the graphic card.
I found the solution on a forum about Nvidia : "...the problem is that after driver 195.62, sometimes Blue Screen of the Death happens. This crashes happens everytime I close Adobe Bridge, and also in some other occasions too. With the old driver (190.38), dosn't BSOD. Will be great if NVIDIA told it at 195.62 releases, and fix it if possible..."
In fact, I uploaded my GeForce 9500 driver version 6.14.11.7519 to 6.14.11.9562 in november...
I come back to my old driver and have no more problem with Bridge CS4...

Well I have a 9600GT and at the  moment I have the v191.07 installed but on checking the Nvidia site  today I saw this
    This is a WHQL-certified driver for GeForce 6,  7, 8, 9,  100, 200,  and 300-series desktop GPUs and ION desktop GPUs.
    New  in  Version 197.45
Recommended  for the best  performance with the new GPU-accelerated  features in Adobe CS5
    RESULT...
Well have  tried it and it seems to cure the problem. Opened Bridge and Photoshop  CS5 several times, went through hundreds of photo albums, trying to make  Bridge crash but it just wouldn't... So for now I'd have to say it  works great.

  • Bridge CS4: works with Mavericks?

[NOTE: Adobe Bridge CS4 came bundled with Photoshop Elements 8]
    MY CURRENT HARDWARE:
Apple iMac (late-2012 slimline model), 2.9 GHz Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB Hard drive, external DVD drive
    MY CURRENT SOFTWARE:
    MacOS 10.8 Mountain Lion
    iPhoto 2011
Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 (with Bridge CS4)
We have an aging white MacBook in our office that we are about to replace with a refurbished MacBook Pro with Retina Display. We have concerns about sharing documents and collections between machines, so we need to keep our software versions the same on both machines (Some software will have to be updated, and since the new laptop will be running MacOS 10.9 Mavericks, we're going to have to look at updating the iMac's operating system and other software.
We like the current Photoshop Elements 8 (with Bridge CS4) on the iMac. We would prefer not to upgrade PSE at this time.
Question: Will PSE 8 / BrCS4 run on MacOS 10.9 Mavericks? Are there any known compatibility issues?

I have updated to Mavericks from snow leopard I have downloaded Bridge CC and PS CC, still have Bridge CS4 on and PS CS4 and both now run, after experiencing cache folder problems like everyone has had it seems. Creating a new cache folder it seems to be ok now fingers crossed. I followed the way to do it on a thread on here.

  • No previews to eps icons in Bridge CS4 with OSX Leopard 10.5.6

Crippled Leopard or Bridge too far...
Recently upgraded to an iMac and Leopard 10.5.6 and gone the
Adobe Creative suite CS4 route and find that I cannot preview eps
documents as images and just get basic icons in Bridge which is
    very inconvenient.
Have Apple decided that we don't use ai eps anymore or is it a
    problem with Bridge CS4!
Bridge CS3 works and previews are visible.
I don\'t seem to be able to find anything on line that will work.
Just downloaded Quicklook and that does not work either!
I would contact Apple if only I could get hold of them.

--"[EDIT: You're entitled to your money back if you don't like the responses: $0.00. ]"--
That is truly a mature and professional response.
    --"Whatever, Lisa."--
I guess this shows that you know you are rude, and choose to be so as you couldn't come up with a better response than "Whatever." I see your postings all the time, so I know you are a power user in the forums; and many, including myself, have benefitted from your knowledge of the Adobe products. But that does not exclude you from following Adobe's guidelines about proper forum etiquette. Here's the link in case you need to refresh your memory. Oh, and there's also a link to some etiquette guides as well:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/guidelines.html
But to get back to point, upon your advice, I did check out the Photoshop Macintosh Forums. 227 results popped up for "EPS"; and as I didn't check out all of them, the ones I did read refer to the EPS files when used with raster files. But my inquiry was about vector files (logos for example). Since you don't seem to want to help, I will check out the Illustrator forums instead.
And Tim, I'm sorry that this has veered off topic.

  • Bridge CS4 Won't Download Images

I just bought a new computer with Wndows 8.1. I've installed Adobe Creative Suite 4 and encountered a problem with Bridge CS4. When I select File > Get Photos From Camera the dialogue box comes up, but it gets stuck on "Loading Device List... Please Wait"
Bridge freezes at this point and the only way I can close the program is to use Task Manager.
I've searched both this forum and the rest of the net and I've seen a number of people with the same issue but no fix aside from reseting the operating system. Has anyone had the same issue and found a solution, or have some ideas?
I've already ruled out issues with the SD card and card reader - issue occurs with multiple cards and readers. I've gone through the Adobe" Bridge Help / Troubleshoot errors, freezes" and tried everything suggested there. Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Yes, as soon as the card is plugged in the Bridge Downloader comes up and does the same thing -
gets stuck on "Loading Device List... Please Wait".
    Thanks for the response.

  • Bridge CS4 tries to open Photoshop CS3

    Win XP SP3:
Installed Photoshop CS4 with Bridge CS4. Uninstalled Photoshop and Bridge CS3.
Now when trying to open an image from Bridge CS4 into Photoshop, I get an error message saying that Photoshop CS3 could not be found and to search for it and spell it right.
What can I do to fix this?

  • Snow Leopard Installation Problems with Bridge

I just installed Snow Leopard, after having the CS4 Suite with Bridge CS4 previously installed. When I tried to open Bridge after the insallatin of Snow Leopard, I got four error messages in succession, one right after the other when hitting "ok":
    1. PiPL Endian Swap Error
    Please Update PALoadMacPlugins.ccp with prop.
    Unable to Swap PiPLprop 'ms32"   øms325 §'
    2. PiPL Endian Swap Error
    Please Update PALoadMacPlugins.ccp with prop.
    3. PiPL Endian Swap Error
    Please Update PALoadMacPlugins.ccp with prop.
    Unable to Swap PiPLprop 'ms32"   øms325 §'
    4. PiPL Endian Swap Error
    Please Update PALoadMacPlugins.ccp with prop.
After that, the program opens normally. I re-installed Bridge CS2, which works, but when I tried to use the update for Bridge CS4, it wouldn't allow me to put it in. On the installation disc for CS4, the place to select Bridge for installation was grayed out.

I didn't get any fix advice.
When I reinstalled CS4 I didn't install the any of the bonus packs/updates and haven't had the problem.
I also had (for other reasons) to do a complete reinstall of my system software, which may be why it's fixed.  I'm afraid to install the bonus pack and find out, in any case.

  • Photoshop CS4 - File Type Associations and Bridge CS4

I have both Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop Elements 7.0 installed on my PC running Windows Vista Home Premium, I removed Photoshop CS3 after installing CS4. The issue I have is that if I look at file associations in Bridge CS4 under Preferences, none of the file types are set to Photoshop CS4, they are set to either Explorer or Photoshop Elements 7.0. The even stranger thing is also that if I try to change the associations, Photoshop CS4 is not even displayed as an option, as Photoshop Elements 7.0 always is, I have to browse in order to find it. This works, but I find it strange. Also within Windows none of the file associations are set to Photoshop CS4 after installation, I have to change them manually, again by browsing for it. I remember that in previous installs of Photoshop there was the possibility to change or use default file associtions, does CS4 have this? I guess this is not really a problem, but I find it somewhat strange that Elements 7.0 is always offered as an option but not CS4 and makes me feel it hasn't installed properly. Anyone have any ideas?

CCleaner did the trick for me too!
But I still suspect something about CS4 installer is not right.
Under CS3 I used Vista "open with">"choose program">"always use" to assiciate bridge CS3 with my canon camera raw files.. At that time it did work.
After installing CS4, I wanted to do the same with bridge CS4 but it didnt work. In the "choose program" vista menu, whatever I was doing, I couldnt select bridge CS4 it was always comming back to photoshop cs4 or bridge cs3.
After using CCleaner, I could re-associate the way I want right away.
So my word to photoshop's installer developper: please try to reproduce this issue, it should be easy, and make the installer avoid this.
    Thanks
