Error-36 and Error-42 when copying files from SD card

Hello!
I recently switched from a PC user to a mac user! Everything is great, but ever since I got the computer (refurbished 15in macbook pro) ive had problems with copying files from my SD card to my computer!! It so frustrating! Ive tried everything! I even called apple support, and after 30 minutes of calling came to no solution! I keep getting error-36 error-43 and sometimes error-8058 !!! I tried formatting with no success, because my computer cant read the disk! It is a PNY professtional 32gb sd card. Im not sure if this problem is happening due to the fact that I previousley used this same SD on my PC, but im going to return this computer if it doesnt fix! Ive also tried doing to terminal commands but it doesn't work! Please help!!

I'm having similar problems and I'm using a 1Tb HDD ( USB connection) which has 3 partitions. I have discovered that after some time (not clear what triggers it) I start being unable to use one partition for backups. When I checked further I discovered that I cannot write any file no matter what size to it. The problem has normally disappeared for a while when I restart my computer. I've done disk verifies and things are fine. The other two partitions are Ok ... I use one for TimeMachine and the other for SuperDuper. This partition is primarily used for ChronoSync backups so I suspect that the problem is related to how ChronoSync backs up but I have yet to convince their tech support of that.

Error when copying files from SSD to HD

Build 9926 (clean install not upgrade)
When copying file (drag & drop) from either an SSD>> HD or HD>>SSD I get the below error. This is definetly build specific and not hardware related. I have re-installed 9926 from an MSDN ISO 3x with the same results.
Both drives are local. Both drives have been checked and are ok.
Any ideas?

Time capsule crash when copying files from it

Hi, I'm trying to copy files from a time capsule to a windows 7 pc. When I do that the time capsule crashes. I can copy files from the windows 7 pc to the time capsule without problems. Has anybody got a clue? I just bought the time capsule, so it has the latest versions.

What do you see that you interpret as a Time Capsule crash? You can use AirPort Utility to look at the log file of the Time Capsule. Go into "Manual Setup", then invoke Base Station > Logs and Statistics. There might be a message in the log that helps explain the problem.

Permissions problem when copying files from external hard drive

I have recently reinstalled leopard (wiped the hard drive clean) on my macbook pro. (10.5.4). I had used Time Machine so I have a complete backup. But I only wanted a few of the files so I didn't do a backup restore. I went into the file directory of the backup on my external hard drive and dragged the folders I wanted back over to my laptop.
But I'm in permissions **** though! When I want to copy them over I get an alert saying you may not have privilege to do this and asks for my password. I enter my password and it copies fine. But every time I want to do anything with those files (like move them, or delete them) I have to re enter a password.
So, inside of the terminal I do a "ls -al" command to see whats going on and find that everything is the same as a natively created folder except for a '@' on the permissions column. I do a "ls -al@' to see more details and I get this:

I did run repair permissions from Disk Utility and it didn't solve it. How can I resolve the permissions on these files?

run ls -aleO on the copied files and see if there are any ACLs or flags.
BTW, another (and possibly better) way to restore files from an old TM drive is via TM interface. control-click on TM in the dock and choose "browse other TM disks" select a disk to browse and go at it. when you try to restore something you'll be prompted for a location to restore it to and maybe a password.

There is a batch file that copies files from server A to server B. At certain point, the copying gets stuck and message is displayed on the workstation: ""Network Status. Client32: out of disk space writing file to server B." Unless I press OK, the copying will not continue. There's plenty of space and memory, no quotes or user restrictions on server B. This procedure worked for years without any problem and nothing was altered on the servers or workstation at time of occurrence.

Did you purge the volumes ?
How high is ratio between compressed and noncompressed data on volumes?
I assume, that for this usage (copy one server to another) you should
seek the different way (program), which transfer the compressed data
with untouched state of compression.

Canon Rebel XSi and OSX - How to copy files from camera?

How do I copy the files from my Canon Rebel XSi to my Mac? I can "import them into iPhoto but is there a simple copy/paste option such as the camera appearing within the Finder?
On Vista it comes up as a Camera device within Windows Explorer.

You might not be able to mount the Canon on the desktop unless it has a setting in the camera menu to switch it to USB Mass Storage mode. Many camera brands can do this, but many Canon models cannot.
It's still pretty easy to get images off it, though. In addition to iPhoto, you can use Apple Image Capture to select and download images to any folder, or any other software that supports the XSi like Canon EOS Utility (included) or Adobe Bridge/Photoshop/Camera Raw. If the XSi doesn't turn up in those apps, make sure you've got the latest versions.
I don't have the XSi, I have an older model, but according to reviews, the XSi still doesn't have USB Mass Storage support. Without that support I don't think it's going to show up on a Mac desktop.
You may be seeing it show up for drag-and-drop on a Windows Vista desktop, but the link above says that drag-and-drop in Windows only supports JPEG files, not RAW files. Are you getting just JPEG files on the Windows desktop? If so, and if you intend to use the superior RAW format, then basically you don't have drag-and-drop on Mac or Windows, if the review is correct.

Word, PowerPoint and Excel Crash when opening Files from Sharepoint Site.

I am in the process of rolling out office 2013 company wide. I have started with a batch of test users and a few including myself are reporting various office apps crashing with opening files from our SharePoint site. Although at times it will crash outside
of the site.
I have tired running each app in various modes (Safe-mode, Compatibility mode ect) but the same results keep happening. Although it does not happen all the time on other users machines its more frequent. If i download the file and open it locally this does
not appear to happen.
We are all running Office 2013 SP1 32bit on Windows 7 Machines.
One Common issue they everybody seems to have always points to "Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\VBScript.dll". I have done some digging but have not encountered any solution that points to this file. We constantly stay current on the
latest updates from MS.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

In some instances even outlook will crash as well although I think this is unrelated to sharepoint.

X2 how to copy files from memory card to phone?

I would like to copy a picture and a song from memory card to phone memory of my Nokia x2, but I don't know how to. If I take out memory card from the phone now the picture I chose as my screen background disapears I want to have it all the time on the screen no mater if the card is in or out of the phone.
I will be greatefull for advise

I do not have the cable to conect phone with my laptop I just bought this Nokia x2
and I dont know why but my bluetoth laptop conection isn't cooperating with the phone.
Is there a different way to copy these filesfrom memory card to memory of the phone?
On my old SamsungSGH 250E it was very easy to do?

Freezing Mac OS again and again, even when copying files

Ich arbeite viel mit 3D und meinen Fotos, Aperture und Poser 2014 Pro.
Erst dachte ich das es an den Anwendungen liegt, jedoch kam ein Update und eine kurze Verbesserung. Nur noch zwei mal am Tag neu booten über den Ein/Aus Schalter - versteht sich. Da die Maus und die Tastatur kein Ausschalten möglich war.
Nun werden die zeiten in den sich der Computer mit was auch immer beschäftigt, wieder häuiger. Den Bildschirmschoner und die Energiespar funktion habe ich schon seit ewigen Zeiten nicht mehr aktiv.
Da das aufwachen des Compters auch immer wieder Probleme bereitete.
Wenn ich keine Besserung mit 10.9.4 erhalte, spiele ich mit dem Gedanken, mit ein downgrade an zu tun, auf 10.8.x Da ich mit der Stabilität sehr unzufrieden bin. Ich besitze einen iMac 27" late 2013 mit Fussion Drive 1T. Daneben steht mein alter iMac late 2009, 27" mit 1TB HDD und iOS 10.7.5 der seit Tagen ohne Probleme läuft und mit dem ich in letzter Zeit doch mehr arbeite.
Ich habe immer wieder die bedenken, das unter umständen tagelange arbeite verloren gehen können. wie dieses Wochenende, das wieder einmal eine neu installation nötig war.
Wie sieht es aus, wann wird iOS 10.9.x stabil laufen ?
Oder Raten sie mit doch zu einem "Downgrade auf 10.8.x ?
Nun ist der nächte reboot nötig, da iOS nicht mehr weiss was es zu tun hat !

I work a lot with 3D and my photos, Aperture and Poser Pro 2014.
At first I thought that it is up to the applications, however, came an update and a brief improvement. Only two times a day to reboot via the on / off switch - of course. As the mouse and the keyboard was no turning is possible.
Now the times are in the computer with whatever is concerned, again häuiger. The screen saver and power save function I have been around forever no longer active.
Since the wake of compters also repeatedly caused problems.
If I get no improvement with 10.9.4, I play with the idea to do with a downgrade to, on 10.8.x I am very unhappy with the stability. I have an iMac 27 "late 2013 Fussion Drive 1T. Next to it is my old iMac late 2009 27" with 1TB HDD and iOS 10.7.5 running without problems for days and with whom I still work more lately.
I have the mind again and again, which can get lost for days work under some circumstances. as this weekend, which was a new installation once again needed.
How it looks, when will iOS running 10.9.x stable?
Or rate them with but a "downgrade to 10.8.x?

Have you tried resetting the SMC? Please follow the directions below closely, if it doesn't work the first time do it a second time. If that still doesn't handle the issue then contact AppleCare (I'm assuming the machine is covered by AppleCare) so they can begin troubleshooting it.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

MacBook Pro goes to sleep when copying files from attached drives

I have noticed that since installing Yosemite my MacBook Pro goes to sleep when it is in the middle of copying a large number of files. When I wake it up the copying continues.
I have also noticed that when I am watching videos from my shared iTunes library on an Apple TV the video will stop after about 15 minutes and the connection to the library is lost because the MacBook Pro has gone to sleep. When woken up then access to the library is restored but I need to reselect the movie and then resume.
I have changed the power saving options to do not let drives sleep when idle and do not sleep laptop.
Anyone else have any experience of this or better still a fix.

I have just found that if I turn off the display sleep in the power settings then the problem is resolved. It means though that the screen on my MacBook Pro is on all the time albeit with a screen saver.

When copying files from TC to my MB I get disconected from TC

I have a folder with 600 Mb of Fonts files, everytime I try to copy that folder from my TC to my Macbook's desktop and after a few minutes I get disconected from the TC disk and can no longer access to it, to do so I have to plug off from electricity and then plug in again.
Any help?

The problem is I get disconected from the TC disk and the copy process is not completed. Like stalled.

TC Extremely slow when copying files from an external HDD

I have a new TC, everything works well. Now I am trying to copy my iTunes library from an external HDD that is hooked on the USB of the TC. The directory is well over 300GB, the estimated time of completion is 70+ hours, that can be?!
Last week I copied all my pictures from the same external HDD to another drive via USB connection on my laptop and the directory was about 200GB, it took about an hour.
Is there anything wrong or is this normal?

Yes, that's what I thought.
However you connect things, the copying process is done +*by your Mac,+* not the TC.
As I said, connect the USB drive directly to your Mac, and your Mac to the TC via Ethernet if at all possible. That will still take a while, since Ethernet is much slower than USB, but at least you won't have the data going back and forth through the TC. The data will go from the USB drive to your Mac, then to the TC via Ethernet.
If you leave the USB drive connected to the TC, the data will be copied from the USB drive, through the TC, to your Mac, then back to the TC's internal HD.

Can compose email, send and receive however, cannot attach files from media card.

When I click the blackberry button and got to attach, the only options I get are Picture and Contact. How do I attach doc or xls files that are saved on my media card? I have checked the file sizes and it's less that 10 k so file size is definitely not an issue.

Before you do that, try doing a factory reset.
This will remove any IT Policy and resturn the BlackBerry to original settings.
Follow the steps in KB18998
If the option still is missing, then contact your point of sale or mobile carrier.

External Hard drive getting errors when copying files?

When I'm copying files to my hard drive I keep getting errors that the file is in use. It was originally stopping at around the 167.8MB mark everytime when I try copying files over and giving me that error. As this is a 1TB HDD I have no way of backing it up until I get to the US (currently studying in Australia). So just wondering if anyone had ideas.
Things I've done:
- Tried using HDD over Firewire/USB and with other Macs still same errors
- Tried Disk Utility and sometimes it I get no errors with the disk when I do Repair/Verify Disk or I get an error where the disk can't be unmounted
- I get that error of unmounting when I normally unmount them and I have to unplug the HDD for it to be readable again.
- I try copying files from it or to it, and sometimes files copy to my Computer entirely even 2GB ones, but other times it stops at random intervals, and it always stops when copying files to the HDD that never works, usually stops at random times. :\
Any suggestions, help, or programs I can use for HDD repair would be great!
