Error -36  coreaudio

Hello
I searched around this forum and the rest of the web but could not find any similar problems to the one I have.
When using garageband, I get this Error code -36 from coreaudio and the program stops reading the track. This happens when trying to read or even record a single track, within the first 5 seconds.
I have used the Disk Utilities, yet nothing comes up, everything seems ok.
I never had this error with other applications (itunes, dvd, ...).
What would be the problem and the solution?

a -36 is an I/O error, it generally means the file is corrupt. I would suggest deleting the project and starting fresh B-(>

  • Error 10010 CoreAudio

    Hi!
I've got a session of 32 tracks (I've had much more before), 8 audiotracks and 24 audioinstruments.
When I try to play the song the moment everything comes together Logic stops and I get "CoreAudio error 10010 disk too slow or System Overload".
My audio prefrences are : i/o buffersize 1024
    proces buffer range LARGE
I've also changed the settings but it still stopped at the climax...
    Can anyone give me advice?
    Thanks in advance

Ive seen you answer on other threads. Do you have any other advice re: CORE AUDIO SYSTEM OVERLOAD (-10011) ? You seem to say to get another hd on the other threads as well.
I have two (2) G-DRIVE Q's hooked up to a SONNET TEMPO SATA EXPRESS CARD. I have 2 gig of ram, running 10.4.10 and Logic 7.2.3. I shouldnt be having this issue of "core audio system overload". My 500 gig G-Drives have all my media- my internal hd's are just running Logic. My plug-ins are on the ext G-Drives as well. My M-Audio Firewire 410 is on a seperate buss than the ext G-Drive hard
drives so that shouldnt be the issue. I keep reading peoples responses but they arent so true. Do you have any other words of wisdom or insight on this matter hearing my setup? Im just trying everything I can to figure this out.
    Thanks

  • Error message  CoreAudio: Invalid input setting (-10021)

I was recording a guitar part (thru an M-Audio MobilePre) in the 24 track template (all audio tracks) on track 2, and there was a keyboard part already recorded in track 1. I tried to arm track 3 to do a second guitar part, and I got this error message. Suddenly, none of the other tracks will work -- only 1 and 2. If I open a new file using that template, it now gives me only tracks 1 and 2 to use, while all the other tracks have the same error message. If I open a Basic Setup, however, with audio, inst, and MIDI tracks preset, all the tracks will arm just fine. How do I fix this so I can use the 24 track template again -- it was working just fine! In fact, I reloaded the whole program hoping that might help, but no. Also, if I stay in the Basic Setup and create another track, why does the one above it arm at the same time (both rec lights go on)? How can I separate those? Thanks!

It sounds like you probably are trying to specify your recording input through an input on your interface which doesn't exist, or one of your previously recorded tracks are still in use. So 1st make sure that your other tracks are not record enabled, then make sure the input of the track you are recording to is set to either input 1 or input 2 (depending on which input you are using). I believe the UA-25 has only 2 inputs, so you will only be selecting those 2 when recording audio.

  • CoreAudio: Disk is too slow (Prepare)   error message?

    Hi,
In a Logic project I'm currenly working on, each time I open the file and press play for the first time, Logic hangs for 15 seconds or so and gives me this error message:
CoreAudio: Disk is too slow. (Prepare)
    (-10001)
If I then stop, rewind and play again everything works fine. It only happens after this specific project is first opened and played.
Any ideas what this could be about? Disk is definitely not too slow. I get the same error if I start at a one track passage or bypass all effects and then play.
The file in question contains imported AIFF files, imported MP3 files as well 100 or so MIDI tracks.
    Logic version is 7.2.1.
    Thanks,
    Maarten

It's in the energy saver preferences, uncheck spin down drive when idle thing.
HOWEVER, I posted this in another post, there is a bug where external firewire drives are still getting spun down with this checked off. I reported the bug to apple, they asked for more info, they said thanks, and last I checked the bug was still open, which tells me it wasn't reported before, and they're actually working on it.
So don't be surprised if unchecking the box doesn't fix it for your external drives.
The trick I use to get around it is simply double click the file on the external drive to open the song. That spins the drive up pretty good because you have to open a finder window which has to list all the folders etc...
    hope this helps.

  • Error message: "Disk is too slow or System Overload."

When I try to record from the line-in on my MacBook Pro (2.16GHz, 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD), I get after some time (that can range from a few seconds to a few minutes) the error message: "CoreAudio: Disk is too slow or System Overeload. (-10010)".
This is weird because I get that error even when recording into an empty project. I have no such error on my old PowerBook G4 (867MHz, 512MB RAM) with the same version of Logic Express (most recent). Both computers are fully up-to-date.
I also get that error on my MacBook Pro very often when I'm working on a project and it's getting pretty annoying, it sorts of halts the process each time...
I also have Mail, iCal and Adium running at the same time as Logic Express, none of which use much CPU so the problem can't realistically be from them...
Any help to resolve this issue or at least shed some light on the potential cause would be greatly appreciated!

Simply having idle applications in the background is probably fine, but I certainly believe that something like Mail checking for new messages in the middle of recording in Logic could cause problems.
I would also check Activity Monitor to see if you have any background processes running that you aren't aware of. My wife's iBook slowed to a crawl once, and I discovered that a printer driver she installed to use a printer at work was using about 80 percent of the CPU.

  • ERROR CODE -1 was returned by the CoreAudio driver? help!!

Just been using my Mac and noticed that i get this crash :
"ERROR CODE -1 was returned by the CoreAudio driver"
The it says "The application logic Pro quit unexpectedly" ?
Am running Logic pro 7.1.1 on a 2Gb G5 2.3 Dual Core Mac with a MOTU 828mk2 - is this crash to do with the MOTU?
Secondly is anyone else using Kontakt 2.02 with Logic on a Mac? It seems a bit unstable and it doesnt trigger loops on the 1st beat of the bar of a sequence? Any ideas??

  • Error Code -39 Was Returned By CoreAudio Driver

Here's the setup: I was recording using my iBook G4 using 10.4.6 and the latest version of GarageBand in iLife 06. I was recording using a mic hooked up to my computer using an iMic. All looked fine when I first hooked it up. I was getting audio out of it, it sounded good, it sounded clear, life was great. So, at the start of our rehearsal, I hit record and let it go. Towards the end of our first half, I noticed that it stopped recording because it hit the 1999 measure mark (as expected). So, during our break, I went back to go fudge with it for the second half. But, this is when the problems started. First, when I went back to measure 1996 to just hear the last few measures to hear where it stopped, I got silence and then a dialog box saying "error code -39 was returned by the coreaudio driver." When I went to the beginning of the project, it seemed fine. As I skipped along, it seemed fine. But, later on in the project, I'd still get that same -39 error message. When I finally found the point of failure, I heard audio, and then heard a loud piece of static for the equivalent of two measures, and then got this error message. Throughout this entire time, nothing changed. The computer just sat, no one (including me) touched the machine. It just recorded. Is there a reason why it would have just done this randomly? Is there any explanation to this code? To top it off, the iMic stopped recording. I couldn't get it to record again. For some reason, all works now, but why it stopped working last night, I don't know. But, if anyone knows why this happened, what I might be able to do to prevent it, and any additional info, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks!!!

I can't tell you the Whats or Whys, I'm afraid B-(>
Here is something you can try. I don't usually recommend this method of attack, but if the recording was important and the .band file is corrupt, it's worth a try.
Ctrl-click the .band file and choose Show Package Contents. Open the Media folder, your recording should be in there. Option-Drag it to someplace else on your hard drive and try opening that file with QuickTime Player. See if Player can play it all the way through.
I wouldn't get my hopes TOO high, but it's worth a try. --Hang

  • Help?!  "Error Code -1 was returned by the CoreAudio driver" issue!

    Hello all,
I am having a problem with Logic Express. Certain song files (not all) will not open. I get the "Error Code -1 was returned by the CoreAudio driver" dialog box, then Logic Express crashes.
I don't want to lose any of these songs.
Here is the pertinent info for diagnostics:
    System:
    MacBook Pro 2.0ghz Core Duo
    2 GB RAM
    10.4.11
    Logic Express (Academic) 7.2.3
Line 6 Toneport UX2 as soundcard (just loaded most recent driver)
    3rd Party Plug-ins:
    PSP Vintage Warmer 2 & 3
    NI Guitar Rig 2 & 3
    (both worked fine previously)
    Additional information:
About a year ago I obtained a six month demo of Logic Pro (with an XKey dongle). The time has expired but I haven't gone through my system to delete everything from the Logic Pro install (and didn't want to accidentally toss out something Logic Express might need).
I ran searches here on this forum and Google and did not find any workable solutions.
    HELP?!

Strange. I just went into the Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components folder and thew out the older versions of VW and GR (as listed above) plus an old demo of Amplitude that I never ended up using. Now the files seem to be opening up. Does anyone have an explanation so I might understand just what happened?

  • UA-25 & Logic 7 Coreaudio error - newbie to this - help!

    Hi all.
Please don't hate me cos i'm new at all this. Just upgraded to an Imac using logic pro 7 and I am definately converted to the mac kingdom! - only problem is when I finally get into recording I come up with a very baffling error!
    So far:
I have recorded 2 audio tracks. I went to record enable track 3 (all other tracks do the same thing too though) and the following error message came up.
    Coreaudio
    Invalid input setting
    (-10021)
    <continue>
and now I am stuck !
This has happened on two projects so far! So I am stuck with 2 unfinished projects and not a clue what the problem is.
I use an Edirol UA-25 Audio capture USB unit...
Any help you guys could give me would be amazing !
    Thanks
    J x

It sounds like you probably are trying to specify your recording input through an input on your interface which doesn't exist, or one of your previously recorded tracks are still in use. So 1st make sure that your other tracks are not record enabled, then make sure the input of the track you are recording to is set to either input 1 or input 2 (depending on which input you are using). I believe the UA-25 has only 2 inputs, so you will only be selecting those 2 when recording audio.

  • CoreAudio Error -2 when I launch GarageBand

Every time I launch GarageBand 3 I get a message informing me that "Error code -2 was returned by CoreAudio driver". Does this mean there is something wrong with my GB installation? Or with the system software installation? Or...?

Open GB's prefs and under the Audio/MIDI tab select
"Built In" for both the Input and Output PopUp Menus.
Thanks. I didn't have any options to choose from for Audio Input, but changing Audio Output to built-in fixed the problem.

  • 'Error code -1 was returned by the CoreAudio driver'

    Hi
When launching a lot of songs, i get this error popping up once, twice, or sometimes three times. Usually when an exs24 patch is loading - not sure if that is relevant.
Any idea why? I've done a search but to no avail.

  • "Error Code 25974 was returned by the CoreAudio Driver" HELP

hi, i have a mac G4 powerbook 512 ram, 60g hard drive, 1.5 Ghz processor and i'm running garage band. i'm trying to do some recording with a Tascam US-122 USB audio/midi interface. and first of all! i'm a little confused as to get the sound to go through to my computer, it can't possibly just travel through the USB ... can it? and when i try to record or play pretty much ANYTHING in garage band (even without the interface) i get this error. and no sounds play over the speakers when garage band is open... it's freaking frusterating! can you help?

it can't possibly just travel through the USB ... can it?
Yes, that's how a digital interface works. It converts the analogue signal to digital and sends it across the USB bus.
As to your error, I've never seen it and was unable to find it in any of my references. Typical things to try:
    o Repair permissions
o log out and back in.
o Try logging in as a new User
o Search your hard drive for "GarageBand" and delete the ".plist" and ".cs" files
Let us know if any of these things help.

Whenever I try to start garageband I get this. It still loads but then I don't get any sound at all.

Marcus and Bob, this was answered last week. Try a search before posting. In your GB preferences, go to the Audio/Midi preference and you will find that the I/O prefrences are unselected: choose "Built-in Audio" and restart GB.
