Error 4000 - Unknown Error

When I try to burn a playlist to a DVD through my external (Samsung) DVD burner, after a seemingly random period of time, iTunes pops up over Internet Explorer or whatever I'm on and says Error 4000 has occured. The disc pops out and dones't work.
Does anyone have a cure? I just reinstalled a few days ago to fix a differnet problem. I've already wasted 3 DVDs from this...

Sorry I took so long, I was away from the PC.

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
Check the Windows Update website to verify that you have the latest service packs and patches for your OS. Service packs affect the performance of USB and firewire CD / DVD drives.

  • -4000: Unknown result table and BLOB

    MAXDB 7.7.07.16. SQLDBC
    Hello,
    I have a table with a blob.
I create a recordset, and for each row,  I update the row. The resultset fetchsize is 1
If the first update statement updates the blob, the next fetch on the recordset returns the error -4000: Unknown result table
if the update statement  does not update de blob, the next fetch works.
if the cursor resultset type is FOWARD_ONLY it works with de BLOB
if the cursor resultset type is SCROLL_SENSITIVE or SCROLL_INSENSITIVE it does not work with de BLOB.
Of course I need SCROLL_INSENSITIVE cursor.
For information select and update are not executed on the same connection, and I commit transaction manually.
I use SQLDBC, in the documentation i find this parameter SQLDBC::SQLDBC_Statement::HoldabilityType
    1) could  holdability solve my issue ?
    2)  how can I use it ?
    enum SQLDBC::SQLDBC_Statement::HoldabilityType
    Enumerator:
CURSOR_HOLD_OVER_COMMIT       The result persists after a COMMIT command.
CURSOR_CLOSE_ON_COMMIT       The result is closed on COMMIT.
Definition at line 2297 of file SQLDBC.h.
    Thanks for any help.
    Yann

    Hello,
I fix my issue. I set a cursor name for my statement and the result table is not closed anymore.
    Thanks.

  • An error with the 7.7 ODBC on the Linux

    Dear Gentlmen,
I have some problems with a new version (7.7.06.09) of the MaxDB database.
My application is a web application on the ExtJSApachePHPZendFrameWorkMaxDB platform.
The MaxDB and other parts are installed on the  Fedora Core Linux  server.
The PHP is connecting to the MaxDB via ADO+unixODBC interfaces (unixODBC 2.2.14).
I had no problems with the 7.6 version of the database.
But, the problems are appear then I was install the 7.7 version.
A sample query for  selecting all children for the current parent have an error now.
In my PHP application I have no answer from the database. If I execute this query
via isql program (DSN with 7.7 ODBC) (from unixODBC) then I see a segmentation fault error.
But, if I connect to the MaxDB 7.7 via  ODBC 7.6 driver (from Version = 7.6.06 Build 003-121-202-135)
I have no problem in my PHP application and isql too.
If I execute this query from another computer with Database Studio and Winodws, I have no error too.

  • The attempt to burn a disk failed. An unknown error occurred (4000).

Whenever I try to burn a CD from iTunes, the burning process starts and continues for about two minutes, cancels automatically and then displays the following statement: "The attempt to burn a disk failed. An unknown error occurred (4000)."
Several Apple technicians have tried but been unable to assist me. They have pointed me to articles at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93360 and http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93286 but none of the suggested solutions solve the problem.
    1. I have the most recent version of iTunes (6.0.1).
    2. All of the songs that I am trying to burn are authorized. For example, they include the Complete U2 Collection, which I recently downloaded from the iTunes Music Store.
    3. I am not trying to burn a CD with the same Playlist more than seven times.
    4. My CD burner works perfectly fine using other CD burning software, such as Windows Media Player or Roxio Easy Media Creator. However, these programs are not compatible with any of the many pieces of music that I have purchased and downloaded from the iTunes Music Store.
My hardware configuration is as follows:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
    HP Pavilion 061 PJ467AA-ABA M1180N
    iTunes 6.0.1.3
    CD Driver 2.0.4.3

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can restore my ability to burn CDs from iTunes? Thank you very much!

I am having the same problem. I get an error 4450 - unknown. I have purchased several songs but it appears I will not be able to burn them to CD.

  • Itunes unknown error code 4000

Please help! I burned a CD just fine last week, and now when I try to burn, I am getting an unknown error code 4000. I googled the problem, and I have tried just about everything. The "include CD box is NOT checked," and I went into add/remove programs and performed the repair option. I also checked to make sure my drive is operating. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? thanks!!

how do we clear this please

Hi - I can't burn purchased songs from iTunes to a CD on my Dell Windows XP Pro machine. iTunes gets hung up while initializing the disk, then cancels the burn and gives me an "unknown error (4000)" message. • Unknown error "4000" when trying to burn  a cd?!

I've noticed that there are a lot of similar complaints in this forum but I still want to add mine here too...
I just recently downloaded my first album from iTunes and tried to burn it on a cd, but the program refused to do anything other than popping out the message " The effort to burn the cd failed unknown error 4000".
I updated the firmware nut still nothing. What's up with this?

    hi Ilkka!
no particularly focussed advice I'm afraid. but there's still a few other things apart from the CD-drive firmware mentioned here that are worth checking up on:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93360
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93286
... and these resources might be helpful:

toonz, "Where to find firmware for your CD/DVD drive", 05:55pm Apr 15, 2005 CDT
... and if no joy with those, head here to check for other documentation and to submit your CD diagnostics to Apple:

... and periodically refresh your thread here with another post, so passers-by will be able to update you on any developments.

  • Unknown Error # 4000 when i try to burn cds

When I insert a blank cd it acts like its copying, and says writing...(the name of the song). Then after about 30 seconds it says canceling disk burn and it comes up that an unknown error # 4000 occured. I've been able to burn cds for along time up until a couple of months ago. Can anyone help me?

I am having the same problem, and it is really freaking me out because over 95% of my music is saved in my iTunes Library, and all my original discs have been resold on Ebay. As you all know...once you save them in iTunes, there is no way to access the music file in the Microsoft Mediaplayer. I have tried purchasing different blank discs only to have to discard them after the attempt. Is there any way to fix this problem. Can I opt to go back to an old version of itunes? It looks like this problem has been going on for quite a few months now. How do we get Apple to address this problem. I need to have access to MY music that I purchased. This is insane!!!

  • The attempt to burn a disc failed.  An unknown error occurred (4000)

I know numerous others have had this same problem but I haven't found a solution yet in reading about others with the same error message.  I have updated to the latest version of iTunes, I have updated the firmware and I have run numerous diagnostics and they have all passed.  I am very frustrated and I am ready to dump iTunes and go to another product.
    Here is what happens:
I choose the playlist I want to burn.
From the file menu I choose 'burn playlist to disc'.
I insert a blank cd into the drive and the information pops up identifying my optical drive, speed, etc.
I choose data cd/dvd ( I have also tried this choosing audio cd and I get the same results...error 4000).
I hit burn and the process begins.  The status bar at the top of iTunes says 'writing to disc' for each song.  Finally it finishes writing and changes to burning disc...finishing.  This goes on for some time and then all of a sudden, the status changes to 'cancelling burning. This may take a few minutes'.  Ater a minute or so, the disc ejects.  I have wasted yet another disc and I am getting angrier and angrier!  I have added the most recent diagnostic to this post below.
PLEASE HELP BEFORE I THROW MY LAPTOP OUT THE WINDOW! (not!)
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me fix this problem!

i might be able to help, but i'm pretty sure a ton of people have had the same problem and no definite answers yet. try burning at a lower speed, go to
edit < preferences < advanced tab < Burning tab, then select a lower speed, like 8x, instead of max possible. also while on that screen, make sure audio cd is selected.
you could always see if it was the brand of cd you are using. or try repairing itunes.
if none of that works, i'd just try using a different program on your computer, pretty sure most computers now come with their own cd burning program.
hope that can help a little.

Firstly, I think the fndforms.jar file corrupted so that I unzip the source to renew. But the failures also happen again.
Then, I search Goggle, some article say about Jinitiator version unsuitable or the proxy setting. So I recheck the proxy and try the Jinitiator 1.3.1.18 and jinitiator 1.3.1.23 but also not solve the form loading error.
I still hard to find the cause and try resolve the problem. If I have fixed, I would post the solution. Sincerely!

  • What triggers WebUtil auto-install?

We are trying out JInitiator 1.3.1.14 with our 9i Forms app as suggested by Pedro Garza to fix 9i Forms on XP: the even more final insult.
Unfortunately this seems to have broken the WebUtil download: neither the webutil.properties file nor the requisite DLL files are downloaded to JInit 1.3.1.14 directory. Not surprisingly this breaks the WebUtil functionality.
It's been a long time since I did it with JInitiator 1.3.1.9, but I recall that being a seamless process. Certainly I cannot find anything in the FamMan or the checklist that specified re-configuration for a new version of JInitiator.
It doesn't matter if the client PC had a previous version of JInitiator or is clean. Both fail to auto-install WebUtil.
By the way, the Java console shows that WebUtil.jar is being downloaded and RegisterWebUtil is called. There are no error messages in the console.
    Cheers, APC

Well I did try signing the 100 JAR with the 102 tools. Although that seemed to sign the JAR the Jar was rejected at load time (Java console snippet follows). I'm going to try the long way, using the JInit signing tools and see if that works better.
    I am open to suggestions.
    Cheers, APC

  • Mid 2010 MacBook Pro 15" i7 or new MacBook pro 13" i7?

    Hi,
I would like to renew my white MacBook from mid 2009. I haven't decided yet but I have two options in mind, a MacBook Pro 15" from mid 2010 with an intel core duo i7 (I think it's duo) running at 2.8GHz with an integrated card, the intel HD 3000 and a dedicated card, Nvidia Geforce 330m with 512MB of dedicated VRAM, a month old mother board and battery and a hi-res anti-glare display with 7 months remaining of apple care all for £1000. My other option would be a new MacBook Pro 13" with a dual i7 locked at 2.9 GHz and no dedicated graphics card for £1035 from amazon.
I would mainly use it for photo editing using Adobe programs and occasionally some video editing and video gaming.
Which one do you think is more powerful?
ps: I would use an external monitor, 8GB of RAM and an SSD on both
    Thanks

    MacBook Pro 15" 2010
    Intel Core i7 2.8GHz M 640 Arrandale Cores 2  (2867)
    8GB max RAM 2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512MB (15.85) (369) and Intel HD Graphics 3000 (10) (309)
    MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2012
    Intel Core i7 3520M Ivy Bridge Cores 2 (4519)*
    16GB RAM max actual (8GB Apple) 2 - 204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
Intel HD Graphics 4000 (unknown) (465)*
The 13" is a more powerful machine and it has more RAM capacity.
