Error (-402653077) when backing up for 4.2 update

Every time that i try to backup my ipod touch 3rd generation for the 4.2 update i get an error (-402653077) message. Then it ask me if i want to continue but it will erase all media from my ipod i really dont want to do this but can't seem to find a way around it. Does anyone know what the error means and how i can fix it.

I'll answer my own question, in case anyone in the future cares...

It appears that one app installed on the iPad was installed by an IT pro at my wife's office, with his account and password. When I tried to update the iOS and sync the iPad, it was hanging while backing up the app whose account was not present.
I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, which did not affect the issue. I did a reboot of the (crashed, frozen) iPad, and it got partway through startup before appearing to crash again (not connected to the computer). After about a half an hour, the startup process suddenly completed itself, and the iPad was back, working normally. But it still wouldn't sync.
For that, I had to delete the app that had been installed by the IT guy's account. Now the iPad syncs normally, and everything's working.

The mail system can be backed up with mailbfr and the resulting backup subsequently with any decent backup software. mailbfr will make sure the mail system is stopped while backing up.
A server is always tricky to backup, because it is always in a "fluctuating" state. Ideally all services should be stopped before a backup. Some will not cause major issues, others like mail will. Unless you have some sort of raid setup, where you can take a disk offline for backup purposes, you will always have to be very careful.
I would look for service specific scripts on an as needed basis. There are some around for SQL for example.

After many failed attempts this is what worked for me:
Step 1. Right click on your phone in the left hand side bar and select Back Up
Step 2. Restore your phone and use the option where you restore and update
Step 3. When its done it will ask you to use the back up you previously completed
Hopefully this works for you!!!

I'm running 10.6.8 OSX & wondering why I get an error message when backing up with time machine onto an external hard drive. Please help! Error message states time machine could not back up & to try again later.

Says "The back up was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk.
"The problem may be temoporary. Try again later to back up. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair back up disk."

It has the error range of 3000's which states

I am having exactly the same problem right now. After some research, it looked like my HD was toast. I replaced it today, that part was easy, but now I cannot seem to use my original Install Disk to format the new HD. I get a grey restart screen, or if I get to the Language Selection screen, my cursor is frozen in left corner and I can't use it.
Very frustrating, hope someone else has some ideas!

Okay, so I Right Click and nothing says "Link Media".
When I double click on an asset it says, "the selected file cannot be linked because it has 2 audio channel(s) and the clip was created with 1 audio channel(s)."
However 1 video clip asset does open in CS4.

v10.6 isn't an update, it's an upgrade. You must purchase v10.6 / Snow Leopard.

Error -43 when backing up iPhone for update 5.0

I'm trying to update 5.0 on my iPhone 3gs and am getting error -43 when the phone is being backed up. Help! I waited a half a week hoping that the problem would go away, but it hasn't.
I've read that some other users have erased everything on their iPhone so that they could update, and then manually installed everything after, but I don't have half a day to spend on this.
Any ideas?

Well, I've since taken the plunge and tried to update anyway, by restoring the iPhone, thinking I could restore from my backups. Now turns out that I can't restore because "the backup session failed". Goddammit.
This is the biggest problem I have with my iPhone, that iTunes is such an abominable piece of software. I just want to get iOS 5 on this phone so I can leave iTunes behind.

Error message when backing up

I've backed up for the first timeusing PSE 7. Usually I do a general back up of everything on my laptop but now I want to make sure the file structure, tags, metadata etc are backed up correctly.
I ran the backup to an external hard drive with no trouble but when I went to check if the back up had worked I ran into diffculities. Its obvious that the photos have been copied over but I'm not sure about the rest. If I double click on the icon that has the file type of tly or buc then the Editor opens
up and I get the following error messages (depending on which icon I clicked on):
Cannot open 'E:\PSEBackup13Sept2013\Backup.tly' because it is the wrong type of file
Cannot open 'E:\PSEBackup13Sept2013\catalog.buc'
Can anyone assist?
My laptop has no memory left so I was planning to delete the majority of photos from my laptop once
the backup was done. I'd then plug in the external hard drive when I wanted to access the photos.

Are you saying that you want to delete all your photos from laptop and still be able to search them from Organizer? That can be done from Organizer but the question remains 'why you want to search for a media which you have deleted'. If you have imported a media in Organizer and later you renamed/delete the file from hard drive then that file (actually preview) is sitll shown in Organizer though missing. You will be able to search them but can't do any operation like edit/share/export etc...So the question remains is 'why you want to search for a media which you have deleted'.
Please let me know if I am missing something here.
