Error 4280 for Matshita UJ-831Da - Burn worked w/ old ver. iTunes, NOT NOW

Using Sony laptop, CD/DVD drv = Matshita UJ-831Da.
1. Burn quit working when iTunes upgraded to 7.2.
2. I now get Error 4280.
3. The only change was an upgrade to iTunes.
4. No other software, or OS, changed on the system.
5. Burn always worked with old ver. of iTunes.
6. Burn still works with Win Media Player.
7. Burn still works with all other software.
QUESTION # 1
Does anyone know if there is a fix from Apple for this cd/DVD drive for the latest upgrades of iTunes?
QUESTION # 2
Does anyone know why Apple refuses to address the widespread problem and offer an easy-to-find list of fixes for their own Error 4280?

PROBLEM:
1. Burn quit working when iTunes upgraded to 7.2.

9. Slowing burn speed does not eliminate error 4280.
10. "Run Diagnostics" causes whole system to freeze and crash.
11. Creating new account on system does not eliminate error 4280
12. Creating new account on system does not eliminate freeze / crash.
13. I have credit with iTunes store that cannot be used until fixed.
QUESTION:
This is an Apple iTunes ONLY software problem. What is the fix?

For my Matshita UJ-831Da CD/DVD drive, the driver version showing in device manager is 5.1.2535.0. I just now clicked on "update driver" and the reply was that a newer version could not be found.
But why would doing a "Run Diagnostics" in iTunes now freeze / crash my whole system when it never did before? It only began doing that after it also began failing to burn CDs. Again, the iTunes software is the only software that has ceased to burn CDs.
Several months ago, I finally reached by phone a girl at Apple tech support who first denied there were any known problems. But when I told her that the web was full of thousands of people screaming about this very issue she recanted and admitted that iTunes was having these problems, that they had posted the fix for some of the other CD/DVD drives but not mine. She then said, "but if you pay $35 I'll tell you how to fix it." Absolutely unethical. That's like buying a car then being told that there's now an extra fee for being told how to start it. She may have lied about knowing what the fix is, but either way it's absolutely unethical.
The problem is iTunes. iTunes changed and now won't drive the same current drive it worked with when iTunes accepted my money, in advance, to purchase and burn music at future dates. iTunes should fix the problem.
I'm willing to go through the leg-work, to try all of Apple's instructions here, but Apple also needs to follow through with this.

I'm part of service desk and my company has several thousand users of Acrobat. There has been strange issues reported since upgrading from 7.0.5 to 9.1 and a lot of them are uhappy. The latest issue is users started to receive the following error,
Error "Licensing for this product has stopped working" when you launch Acrobat 9 or Adobe Creative Suite 4 products. I went through a "font crisis" on my MacBook about two weeks ago, and I reinstalled Snow Leopard, then restored everything from Time Machine backup. Everything but Office 2008 and CS4 was able to run from the restore, because there were preferences for both that wouldn't copy back to my Library (permissions).
I reinstalled both from the "original media" (dmg's) with my Time Machine and 2 other external HDs connected and mounted. I had no problems with either. In fact since I was re-installing from dmg's stored on my Time Machine drive, I had to have it connected to do this. Installing Office and CS4 from the dmg's took all of twenty minutes for both with no errors at all.
I'm glad you got everything taken care of, but anectdotal evidence tells me CS4 can be reinstalled with external drives connected and mounted.

You need the original owner to remove the device from his or her account. There is no workaround.

I have Windows 7 on a Dell. Open and play iTunes in the compatability mode and use Windows XP (service pack 2). Disregard any messsages to disable the compability mode. This has worked for me. I have also reinstalled iTunes and played with burn speeds etc. These ideas did not work. Compatability mode works.

HT1430 Activation Error..My iPad 2 wasn't working, so I reset all, and now it won't activate.

My iPad and my iPhone haven't been working properly since updating to iso 6. I touch the screen for google and it goes there, and then goes out again. None of my applications will stay open. So, I tried to reset to factory settings. It didn't work. So I deleted and reset to manufacturer settings. It worked. However.... now I am trying to restart my iPad and it won't allow it to activate. Hi I have an iPhone 2g which worked on the sim in itunes but I did a restore in itunes and now gives error to be locked
But the sim shows in the top left as per on the iphone and will make any call from the emergency key pad but cant get past that page like its a new phone.

It works!!! ITunes is now loaded! For "...Encountered a problem" errors

After 4 days of working on this non stop, I have finally got it! Thanks to all of you posting the wonderful tips!
I will tell you what I did. I am not sure which of these steps was the trick, since I did this so many times. But there are two things that I did differently this last time, which I mention below. I think those did the trick!
1) Under "Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime software in Windows" on Apple Support for iTunes (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976) do ALL of the steps under "Completely Remove iTunes and QuickTime". Please note: For step #16, when it talks about removing files in C:/Windows/System32, make sure you remove folders AND files. The first time I did this, I only removed the Itunes, Ipod and Quicktime folders. I did not scroll all the way down to just the independent files, there were a few more Quicktime files there.
2) Additionally, I went to My Computer, and went under C:/Program files and deleted the folders there too.
3) (optional?) I wanted to at least get one program working right first (neither my iTunes or QT were working, I was getting the error "iTunes/Quicktime has encountered a problem..." So after I completed the above steps, I went to this site and downloaded QT by itself first, and made sure it was working properly before I proceeded. This may have had nothing to do with it, but wanted to share my exact steps that I did.
4) Downloaded iTunes + Quicktime again. I THINK THIS NEXT PART WAS WHAT DID IT: This worked for someone else yesterday who posted it, so I tried this too. I think that, for whatever reason, this was a key. When you get to the part where it asks you what folder to load it into, instead of defaulting into C:/Program Files/iTunes, I installed it directly onto C. So, that would be C:/iTunes. I did the same for QT on step #3 above.
It now works, and my 10 yr old is a happy camper, and I get to tackle something else tomorrow, since I have spent 4 days on this! Thank you so much to all of you who posted tips to help!

Error "Licensing for this product has stopped working" when starting Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended- XP Pro AMD; 2GB RAM

I have exhausted all known options thus far.
I started the Flexnet Licensing Service and restarted the system but the message continues to come up when lanching PS CS3 extended
After restarting computer the Flexnet Licensing Service stops again and goes into Manual mode. This also happens after a few minutes without restarting.
I also downloaded the Flexnet Licensing Recovery Kit from Adobe Support but the file stops after saying "please wait for a few moments.. ?"
I changed the setting as discribed for the Flexnt folder but the message continues to come up when PS Extended CS3 is launced.

I downloaded the clean Script file and followed the instructions from what the Clean Script read Me file described. The first step said to deactivate. Although I was not able to deactivate because of my original message, I followed the remaining steps.
After using the Clean Script and uninstalling Photoshop CS3 Extended and re-installing it I re-booted my computer. I also deleted the CS3 Application data files.
When I installed PS CS3 Extended the installer does not ask for the serial number on all attemps. I bought a registered copy of PS CS3 Extended. Is there another way to approch this licensing error.

Receiving "Unable to connect" error message for every site, but IE8 works fines

HP Pavilion , AMD Athlon X2 Dual, Core processor 3800+. 2Ghz, 1MB Ram, Windows XP Media edition 2002, Service Pack 3. Firefox Version 3.6.8
When starting Firefox, it always says "Unable to Connect". IE8 works fine.

IBooks: Error message for previews, but purchased books work. Why?

Hi everybody,
I've got an iPad 2 and iBooks installed, latest version (as of 7th December 2011). My problem is now that I am not able to read previews (or excerpts) of books I am interested in. It is possible for me to download the preview, but when opening, an error message appears, telling me that the format is not recognized and therefore I cannot open anything.
But if I buy the book, I have no problems. Politics?

this also happens to me. i believe it occurs when its checking the cloud for bookmarks and you open in the middle of the process. if you wait until the little spinning wheel is finished in the status bar, it will open fine. i think its a bug.
