Error -4960 on Disk Mounting

Hi,
Leopard, PPC G5 iMac, DSL connection.
I received the "error -4960" when I've tried to mount the latest QT update (7.4.1), because I had an error (telling me I'm not connected to the internet) when I've tried to download it from the Software Update utility. (Tried to download the update 3 times)

I can't give any solutions, but I get this same error when trying to mount the Aperture 2 trial disk image I downloaded straight from Apple. I thought the download might have been corrupted my my lousy WiFi, so I downloaded it again with the same problem. I'll have to find enough time one day to download the entire thing at once, without pausing, to see if that fixes it.

  • ASM Disk Mount Error

    Hi,
I am consistently getting the following error since yesterday while mounting the ASM disk.
    1. I created the ASM disks successfully and created the appropriate ASM DiskGroups using asmca utility.
    2. I was able to see the diskgroups as mounted from asmcmd tool.
    3. All of a sudden, all the diskgroups were dismounted yesterday and I see the following error in the alert logs for all the
    diskgroups.
    4. This is using ASM11g
As I exhausted all my avenues to fix, I have turned to you for further assistance. Please do the needful.

Thanks Berx for pointing that out.
I deleted the ASM disks and the diskgroups and re-created a fresh and was able to start the ASM instance and mount the DGs.

  • Disk Mounting error

Trying to download a program and get the "disk mounting failed" message.
Using an EMac with OS 10.3.9, downloading a .dmg file about 5.6MB using Safari 1.3.1(v312.3.3). I've gotten all the updates and Java fixes I can think of. I am able to download other files w/o problem. The file I'm trying to download is Limewire. I've been on their discussion board but no results.
    Any sugesstions?
Oh, the Safari downloads about 180kb of the file and then gives me the error and I'm using a cable modem connection.
    EMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I just had the very same problem (with a CD instead of DVD, but same error) and found your unanswered post. I checked out another site, and it suggested that the I/O problem has something to do with data corruption....
And then I remembered that when watching DVD's - if they are dirty, they won't play...
And I ejected the CD, and found some gummy jam like substance on the data side.
Cleaned it off, and now it works fine....hope this helps you or others!

  • Cannot open disk image Error-4960

Hi downloaded the Master Collection CS6 trail version. Download assist was busy extracting the files when I had to shut down my iMac. I later switched it on and re-opened download assist to continue. An error keeps popping up "The following disk image couldn't be opened Master Collection CS6" (Error -4960). Download assist also seems to be freezing up, because neither the pause nor the cancel button is responding. What should I do?

Jua_Stragie please complete solution 1 in Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html#main_Solutio n_1 to reset the Adobe Download Assistant experience.
If you continue to face difficulties then please follow the steps listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.

My time machine / time capsule gets the error:  The backup disk image could not be mounted.

    Reboot the TC.
If you normally have multiple computers backing up, under Lion there seems to be some issues.. you need to force other users off the system. You can do that through the Airport utility, manual setup, disks, disconnect all users. Note carefully if you use Lion you probably need to download the real airport utility.. 5.6 to accomplish anything useful.

  • Installing Master Collection trial Error -4960

I am having trouble downloading the trial Master Collection to my MacBook Pro running Mac OSX 10.6.8. I keep getting the error "The following disk images couldn't be opened, Master Collection CS4 erro -4960." I keep deleting the Adobe Download Assistant and trying again. When it opens, its stuck on Extracting...this may take a while.
Any help on how I can get this downloaded with out these errors?
    Thanks,

I would recommend initiating the download in a different web browser.  Also if you are using Wifi you may want to try connecting to the internet via Ethernet.  If you are already using an Ethernet connection then you may want to look into trying to download from a location with a different Internet Service Provider.

  • Error -4960

My computer seems to be having difficulties extracting the Adobe Trial files after downloading.
An error message has come up which says:
"The following disk images can't be opened Design Premium_CS5_5 error -4960."
I am trying to download to a MacBook Pro operating Mac OS X version 10.7.3
Could you please advise what the problem is and what I need to do to fix it?
    Thanks!

This would seem to indicate that the DMG file you downloaded is corrupted.  I would recommend trying the download again.  What type of an Internet connection are you using btw?
Alternately you can also follow the steps listed in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.  Although that may not solve your issue if it is an Internet connection issue.

It appears that your download has been corrupted.  To resolve your difficulties I would recommend completing Solution 1 in Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html#main_Solutio n_1.  Once done you will want to begin the download again.

  • Word for mac 2011 keyboard commands hang when network disk mounted

After much trial and error, I have found that, for my system, at least, MS Word for Mac 2011 hangs on keyboard commands when a network disk is mounted on my desktop.
Just wanted to alert all who get the beach ball when use keyboard commands in MS Word.
Symptom was that Cmd-C would take 8-13 seconds or so to copy 1 word, versus immediate when using menu commands. Same with Cmd-V paste. Also, opening a document took much longer.
Once I ejected network disk, problem disappeared.
Hopefully this will save someone else the time I spent tracking down the issue. I'd still love to know the root problem, though, as I prefer to have a remoe disk mounted on desktop while I work, and now I can't.

Follow these instructions to uninstall MacKeeper. They have been tested with the most recent version of MacKeeper (v 2.8). Earlier versions than the one released in 2012 require more extensive work to uninstall all its components.
The effects of having actually used MacKeeper to do anything are a completely different matter. The fastest way to take an exquisitely designed and painstakingly engineered Mac and make it run like a steaming pile of dung is to install and use such ill-conceived "cleaning" or "security" products. This is just one example of a broad category of time- and money-wasters capable of causing damage that can only be rectified by reinstalling OS X, restoring from a backup, or completely erasing your system and rebuilding it from the ground up. Never install such junk on a Mac.
If you used MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders, use MacKeeper to un-encrypt them first.
Quit the MacKeeper app if it is running.
Open your Applications folder: Using the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.
Drag the MacKeeper icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.
You will be asked to authenticate (twice):
You do not need to provide a reason for uninstalling it:
Just click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. You will be asked to authenticate again.
After it uninstalls you may empty the Trash and restart your Mac. All that will remain is an inert log file that does nothing but occupy space on your hard disk.
