Error -4960 on Mac

I downloaded CS6 Design & Web Premium trial version over the night. I did have to restart the download because of a network failure. I came back to my computer this morning and Adobe Assistant is still trying to extract the file - There was a Pop-up window with the error message but nothing else. When I had the outage, the message said I might need to 'refresh' the download - Do I need to delete it and redownload it?
System - Mac OSX 10.7.4
thanks!

Yes, you need to close the current download and inicate again.

  • Error 4960/103 mac operating system

I downloaded the trial several times in different places: desktop, new folders etc. It downloads the product showing the % of completion then gets to extracting files this might take a while and does not finish. what is going wrong after it downloads?

Yep this is completely expected behavior for choosing to download the install files to the Application folder.  Please choose the default of your User folder or your desktop.  The Adobe Download Assistant does not have sufficient rights to write install files to the Application folder.
Once the download is complete the installer will be launched and then install the Application files to the Application folder.

  • Cs6 trial on mac not opening error 4960

trying to download cs6 trial on my mac i open and a error cannot open disk something error 4960. download bar/window keeps running as if it will extract but it wont

It is likely the download is corrupt if it is stuck at extracting.  You can try canceling and trying the download again.  Alternately you can follow the steps listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.

  • I'm getting error 4960 when trying to download Photoshop Elements 12 trial to my Mac

I have been trying to download the trial for Photoshop Elements 12 to my Macbook Pro but I'm getting and error message 4960.  Can anyone suggest where it's going wrong?  Many thanks.

New User when exactly are you receiving error 4960?  Is it during the download or when you try to install?
I would also recommend reviewing http://forums.adobe.com/message/4301394#4301394 which discusses this topic.

  • Error -4960

My computer seems to be having difficulties extracting the Adobe Trial files after downloading.
An error message has come up which says:
"The following disk images can't be opened Design Premium_CS5_5 error -4960."
I am trying to download to a MacBook Pro operating Mac OS X version 10.7.3
Could you please advise what the problem is and what I need to do to fix it?
    Thanks!

This would seem to indicate that the DMG file you downloaded is corrupted.  I would recommend trying the download again.  What type of an Internet connection are you using btw?
Alternately you can also follow the steps listed in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.  Although that may not solve your issue if it is an Internet connection issue.

  • Installation file doesn't work: Error -4960

    Hey!
I just bought a wacom intuos4 graphics tablet and with it I was supposed to get Photoshop Elements 8. Well, it started out well: when I registered my product downloading PSE8 became available. I downloaded the file but it wouldn't open. Instead, it says PSE8_mac.dmg Error -4960. And yes, I'm a mac user: I'm not trying to install a mac file on pc or vice versa. Soo... what's the deal? Are there any fixes?
The program is downloadable only for a limited time (I mean like a couple more hours anymore). I'm downloading the file again but I don't believe it's going to be of any help.
    I'm pretty desperate, really.

I am sorry for all the trouble, I downloaded the file again and this time it worked. Must've been something wrong with my Internet connection the first time or something. I should've had more patience before posting here but I just paniced.
PS. I downloaded it from Wacoms website, not from here.

  • How can I tackle error 4960 while downloading Master Collection CV5?

I'm using a Macbook Pro. It took some 40 hours over 3 days to download CS5 (thorugh wifi) and at the end of it...it showed me the following error....
The following disc images could not be opened
    Image                                Reason
    MasterCollection_CS5_       error -4960
Now it just say Extracting...it might take a while!!!
Is this error because i did not download at one go?  Pl help... I do not want to go through the ordeal of another download!!

if your still having problems downloading i figured it out. the download you first tried was interrupted and didnt download completely so what you have to do is
    1) in the top right of a mac click search and search for MasterCollection_CS5_ (or what you error is IE photoshop_12_1 ect...)
    2) the click "show all in finder"
    3) look for the .dmg file "MasterCollection_CS5_.dmg" and delete it
    4) try to down load again WITHOUT interuption.

  • DesignPremium_CS5 error -4960

I had a trial version of Photoshop CS5 and purchased the extended version.
I keep getting all kinds of errors:
    DesignPremium_CS5 error -4960
Photoshop_12_1-LS1-3.exe file is all garbled letters
Photoshop_12_1-LS1-3.7z says Safari can't open it
I even tried entering the serial number into the trail version and nothing works.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled tried everything over several time.
Very frustated at this point an over due on a deadline now.
    Any suggestions?

It appears you are using Safari does this mean you are using the Mac OS or Windows?  The names of the files you have listed would seem to indicate that you are trying to download a Windows version of Photoshop.

  • ERROR 4960, Can't Import Photos

I am doing an iMovie Project and when I wanted to insert some pictures, I got an Error 4960 message and iMovie wouldn't take my picture. I haven't messed with any of the settings, I think. I changed the format of the pics from TIFF to JPG but that didn't help at all.

    Hi
Don't know what the code is meaning BUT I used both .tif and .jpg in my projects.
I would try trashing the pref file. Read on.
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
    • Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08)
    • Program miss-match: iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
    • Program miss-match: iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match: iMovie’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Screen must be set to Million-colors
    iMovie pref file resides:
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named: com.apple.iMovie.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
From LKN 1935: (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.
    Yours Bengt W
