Error 5.7.0 trying to send email

I just upgraded mobile me(ss) to include my wife and another email address for her. unfortunately I can't get her computer to send emails in this new address. It will receive them in it but not send. It will send and receive them in her POP account on both the MacBook and iPhone 3G.
I get the error message 5.7.0 From address is not one of your addresses.
What gives?!

I don't believe this is an issue with Apple, MobileMe, or .Mac; it's something specific to your system. It could be just one file that we can't see that is preventing it from working, which would mean that you have parts of the OS from two different versions: one that does work with .Mac/MobileMe, and another that doesn't.
If I were you'd I'd try downloading and installing the 10.5.4 Combo Update again, then use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions, then reboot and try it again to see if that may have fixed that problem. If that does not work, the only other thing left to do is an Archive & Install, with the option to Preserve Users and Network Settings. You'd have to use Software Update to get back to the current 10.5.4 after that.

I'm sure someone will give more detail, but it looks like the server blocked your address because it thinks it's a spam source.  If you're not spamming, then it might be someone on the same network spamming, or malware on your computer doing it.  Or it could just be a mistake.  try calling whoever runs your mail server and see if they can give you more information.

There is something else that can cause this issue. Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

CAN ANYONE HELP??  I ALSO NEED TO KNOW WHICH/WHAT TO PICK FOR MY MAIL CLIENT. I'VE TRIED THREE DIFFERENT THINGS AND NONE OF THEM WORK!

Mail would be a good choice, unless you are using another email client, like Outlook. There is likely something wrong with the account setup in iPhoto. You may need to delete the account you set up and enter it again if you want to send with iPhoto instead of with Mail.
Give this a try to see what might be wrong: Drag a photo from iPhoto onto the Mail icon in the Dock. It will create a new message with the photo attached. If you click on the photo in Mail, it should show a popup menu to allow you to set the image size to send.
Check out some of the links in the More Like This section to the right. There might be some other suggestions.

  • Trying to send email photos but keep getting server did not reply. Server seems to working with other email.

Trying to send email photos in iPhoto. Have been able to successfully do this in the past. Unfortunately now all I get is ..."server did not reply." The server seems to work for normal email.  Please advise.

In the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete the account and re-ente it
OR  IMHO the better solution is to simply set Mail as the email client in the iPhoto preferences

  • Mac desktop. trying to send email, message:  SMTP failed?  No new changes to computer.

Mac desktop, trying to send email, message say-SMTP failed.  No new changes have been made to this Mac.

iOS does not run on Macs.
Not knowing your operating system or Mail program we can't give you much detailed help.   Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to find your Mac OS or Mac OS X version.  If it is an X version, please post in the right forum:
    http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2463
SMTP servers are of two types.   Those associated with the internet provider giving you the internet access.  I.e. if you have Verizon FiOS for Fiberoptic internet your SMTP server would be something based on verizon.net.   And those associated with separate web/e-mail host providers if you have a personal website or e-mail provider you chose from before you switched to the current internet access provider.   If the latter, it is possible the internet access provider, in order to prevent being implicated from being the source of spam has decided to enforce port or password authentication on the SMTP server to ensure you aren't a spam bot.  In that event, you'll probably have to check with them if it is better to use port 2626, 2662, or 587, and password authentication.  You may have to check with both e-mail provider and internet access provider.    Usually when you have separate providers doing both, your e-mail address is your username, and password on password authentication is same as checking your e-mail.

  • Error Message While Trying to Send email from Mac Mail...

hello. i have been following the discussion board from some time, and finally made my first mac purchase. only 3 days old.anyways, i am trying to send mail from my .mac email account. i paid for the 1 year subscription,so i know my subscription status is still up to date. however, when trying to send an email using the Mac Mail application,i get this error..
    Error
This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
the connection to the server "smtp.mac.com" on port 25 timed out.
    can someone help me?
    my isp is: Cox
    location: Virginia, USA
just incase someone needed that. oh yes,i can also receive mail, but i just can not send any emails. i was trying to send an email to a "gmail" acct, and i also attached a 2mb pic.thank you to anyone who can assist me.

This error message indicates your ISP blocks the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network (or not provided by the ISP) on Port 25 which is the default/common port used by SMTP servers. Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only that is outside of their network (such as the .Mac SMTP server) on Port 25 but some block its use regardless.
These restrictions are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.
Are you also accessing an email account with the Mail.app that is provided by Cox and if so, are you able to send messages with this account?
    Something to try.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button for the .Mac SMTP server.
Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
If this doesn't resolve it and you aren't accessing your Cox email account with the Mail.app, you need to create your Cox email account in Mail or at least add Cox's SMTP server and select/use Cox's SMTP server to send messages with your .Mac account which is invisible to all recipients.

  • Why do I get an error when trying to send email?

When I try to email a photo directly from iPhoto, I get an error message that tells me that server is unable to identify email name and password. WHY?
I verified and email address and password are correct>
Also, I have listed to email addresses on my MAC a Gmail address and a Comcast (other) account, but when I click on stamp for email on my desktop it opens both mailboxes in one place. Is there a way to separate them.
Any answer and help provided will be greatly appreciarted.

Have you ever tried to access email via your iPhone in the past with this service? Has it ever worked? I'm looking at their support page and cannot find any information regarding access via a mobile device. I'm wondering since it is a satellite service that you cannot access their domain from cellular service. I'm not positive, but a search of their support page is not yielding much information.
Also, the incoming server is not your problem. It is the outgoing server or SMTP. According to the settings, it should be smtp.everyone.net. It does not use SSL for the outgoing server, and the username is your entire email address and then your password.
You should be able to use the information for the Mac mail that I found in this link. http://www.skybeam.com/support/helpful-guides/email-support/mac-mail/ If that doesn't work, I would call their support phone number and ask about using their mail on a mobile device.

  • Smtp error when trying to send email

    Hi,
We just moved and our airport network (connected to a T1) was working; however, now we cannot send email from either my ibook or my husband's pc when using Outlook or THunderbird, as we both get the same SMTP error. It does work when using webmail though. Everything else works fine -- any suggestions on how we can resolve this?
    Thank you!
    Evelyn

This error is only caused when the SMTP Settings are typed in incorrectly.
I suggest you do one of 2 things double check both computers and make sure that a comma has not been placed in instead of a period.
If that isn't the case, Sometimes you may be required to delete the Account settings and start all over by creating a new account to activate your Mail. It isn't that unusual when first setting up a new Mail and account to have this glitch. So delete the Account and be sure you have everything written down form your Isp to create the new Account. It will be exactly the same as the one you deleted.

  • Error(-101) encountered when trying to send a mail

    Hi,
I am trying to send a mail through Business One 2005A. When i click on the email icon, a pop up window appears that asks if i want to attach an edited report with the mail. when i click "Yes", i get an error message error(-101) encountered. but if i click "No", i dont get that error. Can anyone please let me know what this error is all about?
    Regards,
    Harsh

    Hi Fulvia,
This could be caused by folder permissions. Try creating a new share on the server (I typically create a share off the root of the drive, called something like B1_MAIL or SBO_MAIL), granting Full Control to all domain users and then mapping your attachments path in General Settings to this new folder. If this solves the problem then you can tighten up the security to fit your requirements afterwards.
    Hope this helps,
    Owen
