"Error: 5" on Lightroom startup

It also says (after loading the software) "The developer module is unactivated. Please renew your membership to activate the module again". Well, I have a full membership for all the Adobe softwares, and I've tried to logout and login again. And since Lightroom came as a single software file when downloading it - without supporting, installation or uninstall helpers, just a clean Lightroom file - I cannot properly delete it. The error code remains whatever I do, probably some files is left on the hard drive when I delete the Lightroom software. What to do? I really need Lightroom to go ahead with a lot of photographs.

If you are having the same problem, i.e. a disk permission problem, open your favorite search engine and search on, "change disk permissions", and I think you'll find plenty of information on how to fix the problem. This is a Lightroom forum. Your problem is with your operating system. There is no sense in rewriting instructions that are already available if you do a simple search.

Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

Downloaded and instaled up-date for IDT audio from driver up-date. After installation could no longer oppen Beats Audio Control Pannel. Looked for download to re-install BEATS Audio but cannot find one.
Any suggestions.

Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall the IDT HD Audio Driver ( this will also reinstall the Beats Audio interface ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.

After the reinstallation has completed, restart the PC.

Error Message launching lightroom 3

Help! I had a trail of an earlier version of lightroom. I had to purchase 3.4.1 for my son for school. while waiting for approval, i downloaded trail version of 3.4.1. When it opened up, it contained pictures that are no longer on the computer, I tried to delete them and get the error message

Squirrel, This problem occurs after having selected an existing JPEG file when trying to create a new catalog, instead of entering the name of a new catalog. To recover, rename the LR preferences file and restart LR. Name and location of the LR preferences file can be found here. Beat

after searching in this forum I found the solution that works for me:
Run iTunes once as Administrator, this seems to fix the problem so that any following start of iTunes as normal user works just fine!

This error can ONLY occur if the JVM is running too old a version. As it
happens 49.0 is 5.0 (50 is 6.0, 51 is 7.0).
java -version doesn't prove much. (that proves a version of java you
have is 1.5, but not that tomcat is running it). Go to the tomcat dirs,
find the bin directory and try running startup.sh directly there. IIRC
it spits out the JAVA_HOME var it is using.

Lightroom 5.5, "an internal error has occurred" at startup

Lightroom 5.5, Mac. Has stopped working entirely. Error dialogue window appears with this message below. Can anyone help with this? Lightroom is now totally non-functioning. Force-quitting and restarting Lightroom gets the same error every time.

Runtime error in starting Lightroom

I receive the following message when I try to start Lightroom:

Runtime Error!

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Lightroom ran well for several days and then failed to open with the above message.
I have tried everything I know to do (uninstalled and reinstalled the application, restored the computer to a restore point before Lightroom was originally installed, etc.) and do not know were to go from here. Suggestions would be appreciated.
I am using Windows XP sp2 and have 4 GB of ram and 250 GB of hard disk space.
