Error (-50) When Trying To Download Purchased Music
Hello -
I recently upgraded to iTunes 7.0.1. Since then, I cannot download purchased music. I get the following error message:
There was a problem downloading X (name of song). An unknown eror occurred (-50).
I have never had problems downloading purhcased music before. Is there a known bug/issue with 7.0.1?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I am having the SAME PROBLEM and it's driving me NUTS! I couldn't find an answer here so I emailed iTunes support. Here is what they said:
The error you describe may be caused by the presence of web
acceleration or firewall software. While the iTunes Store is unable to provide
technical support, I can recommend that you either test your connection to
the iTunes Store without the presence of this software or configure
your system to allow access to the iTunes Store's address.
However, I'm not sure that is my problem because my computer is new, (I have a macbook), I haven't downloaded any kind of software other than software updates from apple, I use safari, and my roommate has no problem d-loading onto her computer. Also, the album I purchased comes with an interactive booklet and that downloads without a problem. So, I don't know. I just emailed them again and I'll respond to this thread if I get a solution. Otherwise, please let me know if you figure it out!

Just in case (even though it's for different error message numbers), perhaps try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

Error message when trying to download purchased songs
I purchased some albums on my ipad that synced to my iphone. I'm now trying to download my purchases to my library stored on my PC, but I'm getting an error/warning message along the lines of:
"You can download past purchases for up to 90 days.....You cannot assign another apple id to this computer for the next 30 days".
Does anyone have any ideas? I did have to sign my wife out of itunes before i signed in to download my songs so i assuming its something to do with that. When trying to download purchased songs on ITunes, it
gives an error message that the network connection
timed out. also gives this error message when I try
to download ITunes software. Can anyone help with
this error? Thanks
I am having the same problem. (err = -3259) and it's not listed in any of the error codes in Apple Support. Weird. Why have an error code and no reference for it.
First it happened when I tried to download a movie and I kept "checking for purchases" - didn't work - checked all my ad filters, privacy filters, firewall settings - didn't work. Then I forgot for a day, went back and it worked. Now I have three episodes of a TV show that will not download and I am getting the same error message. This time it has been a few days though...Someone who knows - Please HELP!! -

I keep getting this message when trying to download music purchases on my netbook
error-5000 not enough access priviledgesGo to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Error -42018 when trying to download purchase
I tried to purchase a song from iTunes, but after it started to download, all I get is a message that says "There was a problem downloading the song. An unknown error occurred (-42018)."
I checked permissions (think Disk Utilities), I made sure the proper folders are where they're supposed to be, I made sure the read/write permissions for the folder are correct...Any ideas?
Thanks!
--RavenI had the same problem yesterday. I'm just trying the fix listed here--http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=677891&tstart=0--and that seems to work.
Best of luck with that then!

I downloaded an album I purhcased a few days ago but one of the album's songs did not download. I received an error message, #499, for which I can get no explanation or interpretation of what error #499 even is (other than generic terms). All my efforts to re-start the download have failed. I've tried several times to download the file to no avail, tried the cloud service to no avail, and re-started the computer to no avail.
My main intention is to, of course, get the download completed. My secondary intention is to, hopefully, bring to the attention of Apple - iTunes staff, the grossly inadequate, dare I say cryptic, error message descriptions iTunes displays.
I can provide the purchase receipt number if it is required.Hey SDGardella,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are receiving error 499 when attempting to download purchases from the iTunes Store. The following resource outlines this error message:
iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting

"Error 499"
This alert occurs due to security software. Follow iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.

HT5731 Have 55GB available, but get error message when trying to download movie to add storage
Have 55GB available, but get error message when trying to download movie to add storage
Go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage. Let all of the apps load in the window. You can see how much storage you have used and how much you have left. You will need about twice the size of the download of free storage in order to be able to download the movie. Also, the iOS will not let you use every bit of available storage on the device.
You can delete content in there if needed, but if you sync with iTunes it's a good idea to transfer purchased into iTunes and backup your iPad before you delete content. If you use iCloud only, backup with iCloud before you delete any content.
