Error (-5000) updating iPad to 5.0.1

Hi,
I was updating my iPad2 from 4.3.5 to 5.0.1, the download was completed and then the following Error appeared:
There was an error doing a security copy of this iPad (-5000). Do you want to continue updating the iPad?
If you continue, you will lose all contents of this iPad.
Attached you can see a screen-shot with the Error in Spanish, because my laptop and my iPad use that language.
Could you please give me any suggestions?

Thank you for your response and suggestion.
Fortunately I got updated my iPad to 5.0.1, but let me tell you a little detail about the process:
As per your suggestion I disabled the firewall and antivirus software temporarily, but when I plugged the iPad to my PC automatically the iTunes is launched and it recognized that an update version is available for the iPad, doing the process following this automatic window did not work properly, because the Error (-5000) appeared again, then I aborted the update.
Finally, because the iTunes was opened, I accessed my iPad from the left pane (below of Devices) and I launched the update process using the "Search for Update" button from the Version section on the right hand, and the process has worked properly.

I have being trying to update my iphone4 for hours. firstly it froze while backing up.

Well I checked and all my USBs are 5.0 or higher. However, i have 4+ USB ports on the back of my computer. I tried two different ones and the second one allowed me to pull in my photos (which i could not do before). However, It still will not let me update the iPhone software. Same error - you do not have permission to access the selected resource.

Easy fix, just go to settings and then select cellular data. Turn cellular data and data roaming on and try to update again. Problem should be fixed by now. Can then turn off cellular data without getting same error message again. Worked for me.

TS3694 iTunes error (-5000) during update of my iPad from iOS 4.3 to iOS 6.0.1

During update of my iPad from iOS 4.3 to the latest version of iOS 6.0.1, iTunes gives an error (-5000) while backing up the iPad and asks "Would you like to continue? Continuing will result in the loss of all contents on this iPad."
Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions for next step?

You have to connect the iPad to your computer to update.
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

I have tried to restore my contacts and company data at least 20 times and every time half way through THE iPAD REBOOTS! When it boots back up it is at the brand new iPad screen.
This makes me angry as I do not use the iPad for fun and games. I use it for business. My company data and records for the last year are gone. ALL of my out standing customer invoices are gone. ALL payments received are gone! ALL Business contacts and emails ARE GONE! All my company, personal email accounts and settings ARE GONE!
What am I supposed to do now? In 6 hours I have to get on the road and conduct business with a empty blank factory out of the box iPad. How am I supposed to know who owes me money or who has paid their bills Apple? All of my meetings and calendar dates are GONE!
Everything was supposed to be backed up and restored after the update!

Yes! I have done everything. Rebooted computer, checked for updates, Hard booted iPad, Factory restored iPad to ios 5 twice, tried every usb port I have, unplugged all other usb components.
Everytime half way through "Restoring iPad from backup..." The iPad turns off shows a spinning circle then shows the Apple logo and takes me to the brand new iPad setup screen.

Check the console app to see if there are any error messages. I had one app showing an issue (Pet Hotel) the error was (truncated):

I manually snyc'ed that particular app and then re-ran the restore and am now the proud owner of a working iphone. Not sure it is the same problem or app but looking in the console was the key!

Try restarting everything and then try to sync or reactivate. Quit iTunes, reboot your computer, reboot your iPad and then try again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

3.0 update download error -5000

My wife has purchased the 3.0 update but all attempts to download retrieve a 0.4kB file and error -5000.
Similar problems are reported elsewhere but not this particular error number -5000. She has tried over several days so it is not likely to be a server problem. There do not seem to be any other network problems and I have ensured firewalls are off and no virus /blocking software is running.
In case it is relevant, we share the iTunes music folder and she only has read access to that. I changed it to read/write access in case iTunes was trying to store the download there but that made no difference.
Has anyone found a resolution to the update download failures?

This really sounds like a network or server error. Having the write access to that directory turned off was also a likely contributor. The actual update file is over 200 MB. If you haven't deleted (and emptied the trash as well) that file, do so before you try the download again. You also might want to repair permissions as well as switching permissions in the middle of something may have created a problem.
If you are the admin on the system, why don't you download it under your sign in. I'd be curious to see if you have problems.

This is an easy Q: to set - but there is no simple and plain answer only a lot of more or less plausibly suggestions.
Error -50 = paramErr Error in user parameter list
Can there be any external hard disks - if so How is/are it/they formatted ?
If so it Must be Mac OS Extended (hfs) if used for Video.
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most but not for VIDEO.
What this means in Your situation is above me.
• free space on internal boot hard disk 11Gb is on the limit to work when You select Export and might be it.
Video used - there are several video formats/codecs and iMovie can not use all of them, they evolve to fast.
• So try to find out by opening a raw video in QuickTime-player and then open Inspector (cmd+I) and read
Video Format/Codec: nnnnnnnn
What does it read ?
Pictures
• in what format ? .jpg, .bmp, .tif, else ?
Audio
• from where/what format ? iTunes, .avi, .mp3, .aiff, else ?
I convert all audio to .aiff - in iTunes I burn out as an Audio-CD .aiff (not .mp3) and use the files on this in my movie projects.
Some times it's needed to trash the "com.apple.iMovie.plist" file in You USER-Library/Preferences (not Library on Root level (when opening Macintosh HD) - but the one in Your home folder.
Many users has not observed that there are TWO libraries.
• Library - at root level
• Library - in user/account folder - THIS IS THE ONE to look into

I fixed the problem.. but it was very, very strange. I had a very long section for credits and set the line spacing to 1.0.. for some reason this caused it. I removed it, and it worked fine. I put it back, and I couldn't preview or play the video.
I don't know why that could cause that big of a problem, but it did..
