  • Timeout error when submitting feedburner podcast feed to itunes

This is my first time submitting my podcast to itunes, I have created the feed with feedburner and I can manually subscribe and download the podcast in itunes however when i try to submit the feed I recieve the generic timout error, see below. I have tried for several days with different machines to no avail. Any suggestions?
    Feed Address: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ThePortcast
    Thanks in advance.

The feed appears to be OK; sometimes individual servers can behave oddly with the Store but as yours is a Feedburner feed there shouldn't be any problem, so there is no obvious reason why this is happening.
You could try the allternative submission URL:
    https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/publishPodcast
If that doesn't work one possibility is that there is a problem at the Store end, which does happen though it doesn't usually go on for several days. You could try emailing support at podcasts 'at' apple.com but I have to say that you likely won't get a helpful answer. Otherwise I can only suggest giving it a day or two and trying again.

  • Re-submitting my podcast feed after it has been deleted dosen't work?

    Hi
I had recently submitted a podcast feed for my company. However I made a mistake in asking to have it deleted so I could make some changes.
Now having completely revised my understanding of how the feed works, I have now re-submitted my feed:
    http://www.shogunaudio.co.uk/podcast.xml
When the podcast was up before it ran fine, and was very popular. My feed is valid, I can subscribe using the 'advanced - subscribe to podcast' in iTunes. But for some reason it won't register. I have re-submitted the same feed 3 times and I don't get a 'duplicate feed' warning, it just says that it is submitted and I will be getting an email, but nothing happens.
I desperately want to get this up and running asap, what is wrong here?
    Thanks

I can't really say what is going on, but I don't think submitting from another account or changing the IP number will have any effect. Normally in this situation you should change the title slightly, and also rename the feed - as I suggested, you could call it podcast1.xml (so that the URL changes) - these are the parameters affecting it. The only other possibility I can think of is that you have managed to introduce some problem into the feed which is causing it not to be accepted (though if you can subscribe from the 'Advanced' menu this seems unlikely).
Would you like to post the URL of the revised feed?

  • Could I link my existing youtube videos (or Facebook, Myspace, Vimeo, Flickr duplicates) in a field somewhere and link to them (after initially submitting a podcast feed URL)?

I've found podbean.com, and will explore podomatic.com, for submitting video podcasts to the iTunes Directory. But now that I've found these RSS feed URL generators (and will look for others) is there a way within these websites or in blogs to link to my existing videos on Facebook, for example, and the video appear in the iTunes Store?

I'm afraid not - please see my response to your post in the other thread.

  • ITunes returning 404 error when submitting working podcast feed

I am trying to submit a podcast to the iTunes Directory but iTunes is returning a "bad http result code:404" error. This is a known good feed verified by both feedvalidator.org and iTunes U. Feedvalidator shows an encoding error ("utf-8" vs. "US-ASCII"), but otherwise has no problem. Feed is here: http://itunesmedia.seu.edu/Chapel/2013_Chapel/rss.xml. Thanks.

No obvious answer here. The feed looks fine and can be subscribed to manually in Tunes perfectly well.
The encoding error you mention occurs a lot and doesn't normally seem to cause any problems. Error 404 is 'file not found'.
We have seen cases where perfectly good feeds couldn't be read by the Store: I've never seen an expanation, and my guess - and I emphasize it is a guess - is that the server is for some reason not responding to requests from the Store when it does to all other requests.
You could start by leaving it for a bit and trying again in case it's some sort of temporary glitch. If it still doesn't work I can only suggest you ask the people running your server if they can check the server logs for when this happened.

  • How do I fix error 11111 when submitting my podcast?

I keep trying to submit my podcast to itunes from my site and it keeps denying me. how do i get past error 11111 and get my podcast up. BTW my feed is tdcampradio.com/shows

    iwilldieforhim wrote:
does this hangup have to do with resubmitting a podcast that used to be in service but was cancelled?
I don't think the 11111 error is anything to do with that, it's just a server glitch. There is a bug in the system where you're told a feed you're trying to resubmit has been submitted before even though it's been rejected or removed. I do wish they'd fix it, it causes a lot of problems. The workaround is to change the title slightly, and if you can rename the feed file as well that helps. You could also change the 'link' tag to your website - you can change it back after the feed's been accepted, as you can with the title provided doing so doesn't change the feed URL as happens with some services.

  • Submitted a podcast feed but it hasn't been accepted. Help!

I am trying to get our church's sermons posted in iTunes without any luck and have no idea where to begin to try to troubleshoot. Our website provides the following RSS urls.  I have successfully subscribed to the audio only feed using iTunes. However when it pulls in the podcasts our church's name isn't listed.  I'm fairly novice in this area, so any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!
    RSS (131 subscribers): http://necchurch.org/swx/pp/media_archives/26805/channel/665.xml
    Audio Only: http://necchurch.org/swx/pp/media_archives/26805/channel/665/audio.xml
    Video Only: http://necchurch.org/swx/pp/media_archives/26805/channel/665/video.xml
    Jenna Burns
    Northeast Christian Church
    jenna.burns[at]necchurch[dot]org

The first two feeds appear to be identical. The video feed is empty, presumably because you are not offering video. Both the first two can be subscribed to in iTunes and show the expected information:
So you can give people the first URL to use to subscribe manually, and it seems to be working perfectly well. If you want to be in the actual iTunes Store you need to go through the submissions process detailed here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#submit
Have you tried this, and have you had problems with it?

  • Problem downloading podcast feed to itunes

this website exists, but won't rss to itunes because the url could not be found on the server.
(www.undergroundfellowshiptelevision.info) what can i do to fix this?
i've been fighting with iweb to produce a podcast that can be found in the itunes store, (as roger w. knows very well) i seriously don't know why these mac products don't play nicely together.
a duplicate site exists, and DOES rss to itunes... but won't publish to the itunes store, because it is a forwarded url, i think. (www.undergroundfellowship.info/uftv)

That site gives the following link for the feed:
    itpc://www.undergroundfellowshiptelevision.info/undergroundfellowshiptelevision/ happiness/rss.xml
which does not work. The feed is actually at
    http://web.me.com/growingdeeper/uftv/happiness/rss.xml
but iTunes is working from an outdated feed at
    http://uftv.undergroundfellowship.info/rss2.aspx
So you will need to access that feed and apply the method detailed here to change itunes to a feed at whatever address you want it to be at (and then make sure the web page reflects the correct feed - you could also give the iTunes URL).
If you can no longer access the feed at http://uftv.undergroundfellowship.info/rss2.aspx you will have to submit a new feed as if it were a new podcast (you may need to change the title to get it accepted). I would recommend submitting the actual feed URL in either case, not using a redirect.

  • Subscribe to podcast feeds in iTunes from Mozilla Firefox

In Mozilla Firefox, how can I add iTunes as an application to subscribe to podcast feeds, so that it shows as an option in the drop-down menu of the preview page? I've selected the iTunes.exe file through the "Choose Application" option, iTunes shows as an option, I select it and when I click on "Subscribe Now" iTunes opens but it does not add the new subscription. I am running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, Mozilla Firefox 3.6.12, iTunes 10.1.0.54 Thank you!

You can add directories to podcast application to use for searching.
Or you can enter the RSS url to add new podcasts.
No directory has ALL the podcasts out there. You need to search and add.

  • Podcast feed in iTunes Store hasn't updated since January!

    Hi,
Our podcast feed which we have been running for over a year now stopped updating in iTunes Store and is still showing the latest podcast as Jan 2013 even though we put out 3 new episodes a week. If you are subscribed it works but people keep reporting to us about the iTS being months behind and it is bothering my employer.
Our server was running slow and I have since fixed the problem and it made no difference.
I reported a problem with the feed in iTunes and it made no difference.
I relocated the feed to another server using a different system and url which is much faster using 301 redirect and placed all files on a high speed cdn but this has made no difference either... Also updated images too.
I reported the problem again to iTunes and nothing changed.
Help I need to get this sorted as I don't know what else to do!!!!! We can't start a new one as we have too many subscribers.
    iTS page: http://www.itunes.com/podcast?id=564972472
Old feed URL (301 redirect): http://nexuschurch.com.au/podcast-feed/feed.php
    New feed URL: http://www.nexuschurch.com.au/podcast.rss
    Thanks,
    Seth

Your Store page lists 68 episodes running from 12 Jan 1012 to 19 Jan 2013. Clicking on the 'Subscribe' button brings up the feed at
    http://www.nexuschurch.com.au/podcasts.rss
This feed has 15 episodes running from February 3 to 11 March this year. The old feed URL you give successfully redirects to the feed now in use in a browser, and evidently also when subscribing in iTunes; but it looks as if it is not working in the Store page. The correct method for redirecting a feed involves placing a special tag in the original feed and is outlined here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
According to Apple's own documentation a 301 redirect should work in the Store, but it looks as if for some reason it isn't.
All I can suggest is that you place a copy of the feed at the old URL, adding the redirect link as described in my page, and remove the 301. This should move the Store to the present feed - it will probably take a couple of days or so to catch up.
If for some reason you are unable to set up the feed at the old URL you can try emailing them at podcasts 'at' apple.com and asking them to move the Store - give them the Store page URL and both feed URLs.

  • Still having issues with my podcast feed in iTunes

I am still having issues with my podcast feed. The podcast is not updating in iTunes yet I can see some of the new episodes through an alternative RSS.
    My podcast feed is
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/SosChurchStockholm.
Not sure what I am doign wrong.
Thankful for any help in this regard.
    Thanks

I'm afraid I can't give you an easy answer. The Store has not updated since the episode of 10th November, but the later episodes appear when subscribing and there doesn't appear to be any problem with the feed.
The Store does appear to go through sticky patches sometimes and take a long time to update some podcasts; it will probably catech up eventually and I'm afraid that there isn't really much you can do about it. You could try emailing Support ad podcasts 'at' apple.com, but I suspect you will get a form answer telling you how to add episodes (which you already know).

  • Bad http result code 501 when submitting a validated feed to iTunes

I have a podcast feed that I've validated at http://validator.w3.org as well as http://www.feedvalidator.org.  Both tests say that my feed is valid.  When I try to submit the feed URL to iTunes, I get the response: "We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: 501".  Any suggestions as to what I'm missing?

Although your feed validates, and can be accessed in a browser and subscribed to in iTunes - and also the media files are correctly hosted on a server which can handle byte-range requests (a required facility) - the server hosting your feed is for some reason unable to handle requests specifically from the iTunes Store. This situation has arisen before but no obvious solution has been suggested (one poster with a similar problem found that it was a permissions issue on the server). This is something you will need to take up with the people running your server - their logs may possibly give some indication of what the problem is.

  • Error when submitting podcast feed on iTunes

When I went to submit a podcast in iTunes, I received an error that said, "We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: 500"
I have run my url file through www.feedvalidator.org for verification which state it is good. My url I am trying to submit is:
    http://www.sonlightchurch.org/mediaservices/channel310.xml
Can anyone tell me what might be the problem with this?
    Thanks.

Testing it by using iTunes menu Advancesd>Subscribe to Podcast works fine for me: please try that and see whether it works (what this does is to subscribe your own copy of iTunes to the feed without going through the iTunes Store, and it's a useful check as to the validity of the podcast).
If it works for you, then try submitting it again. If it still doesn't work then you will probably need to contact iTunes Support.
If testing it doesn't work for you then you have a local issue of some sort.

  • Difficulty submitting podcast feed to iTunes

    Hello everyone,
My friend and I host a podcast at http://DWSPodcast.com
    Our RSS feed is http://DWSPodcast.libsyn.com/rss
I go through the motions of submitting our feed to the iTunes Store:
sign in, store, podcasts, submit a podcast, insert feed, confirm info, see success page saying correspondence will be sent to my email.
Here is where my trouble occurs.
I never receive a confirmation email even though iTunes states that it knows where to send it.  I have waited days-weeks to see if one would show up.
Here is another oddity.  I can complete this submission process as many times as I like without receiving any submission error or 'already received' error.
I have checked my RSS feed with the feed validator and it is a legit feed.  Libsyn support has also double checked my feed as well.
My podcast can be manually subscribed through iTunes and everything works fine.
I have tried submitting my feed from different computers on different networks to make sure it wasn't a local hang up.
We are already on stitcher radio and the Microsoft podcast network and really can't understand why our feed won't submit to iTunes.
It seems to be broken somewhere between the submission process and the apple servers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
    -Andrew

There is no obvious reason why there should be a problem. It can take several weeks before a podcast is accepted, so possibly you're just stuck in the queue, though in that case I would have expected further attempts to submit to produce an error message.
You could try emailing Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com, but I have to tell you that they are not noted for being helpful and you will very likely simply get a form answer telling you how to submit a podcast (which you already know). You might get better results if you can persuade Libsyn to chase it up - Apple are more likely to listen to them.

  • How can I fix getting the error 11111 when submitting a podcast to Apple?

I am starting a new podcast but when I submit the link to Apple through iTunes I get the error 11111.

Hi have been looking at dropbox do you think that this answer below would work??
Force a file or folder to download
Using the new direct link above, you can further modify the URL to force the browser to download the file, rather than handle it natively. To force a file download, append a direct link with ?dl=1. For example:
    https://dl.dropbox.com/s/xttkmuvu7hh72vu/MyFile.pdf
(Note that the URL begins with dl.dropbox.com, as instructed in the section above.)
    Becomes:
    https://dl.dropbox.com/s/xttkmuvu7hh72vu/MyFile.pdf?dl=1
Enter the new URL in the address field of your browser and it should automatically download, instead of open, the file.
    Public folder links
Accounts created before July 31st, 2012 are pre-populated with a Public folder. All the functionality of Public folders (and more) is available from anywhere in your Dropbox by creating a Dropbox link.
The primary difference between Dropbox links and Public links are that unmodified Public links will render in your browser by default rather than open in a preview window on the Dropbox website. If you would rather force the Public link to directly download rather than render in the browser, add ?dl=1 to the end of the URL, as described above.
