Error 523 on blackberry curve
my dad has had his blackberry for quite a while and has alot of important pictures and contacts in his phone. it now has the app error 523 popping up everytime we try to boot it up. there are a few secconds before it white screans to the error notice thing. all i can do is restart it and then it happens all over again. i dont know all the information for the model or whatever. i just know its a blackberry curve and hes on verizon wireless. is there anything i can do to save his information? he doesn't have a memory card (i should kick him for that) and everytime i try to connect the phone to the blackberry desktop software i cant get the phone to stay on long enough to connect before it errors. any help please?
Your best bet is really getting a backup made...
Or installing BlackBerry Protect to it, but for either, it must stay on.
For the 523 error, see below, but you WILL lose all data stored on the device.
1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

App Error 523 reset - Curve 8320
Hey there. My BB curve is showing the app error 523 reset screen over and over. I cant get it to do much. Every now and then when I do a battery reset it will eventually load the main screen on the phone and say something about exception 3 error...something like that then the app error 523 shows up... but for the most part everytime the phone comes on, within 15 seconds the app error 523 pops up and locks the phone up.
Now I have been reading online for the past day or so trying to troubleshoot the issue, and I've read where I have to load the desktop manager and either d/l the new O/S and/or delete any apps that might have caused the issue. My problem is I cannot get the phone to stay connected to the desktop manager long enough to do anything befor the app error 523 pops up and shuts the phone down again. I have tried taking the memory card out and doing it, also tried taking the sim card out, but that error 523 keeps showing up.
Does anybody else know of anything I can try with this phone? It's really starting to get annoying.
Thanks for any advice..Try this>
If your BlackBerry stays powered off with a black screen, follow the instructions below. The only indication of life might be the blinking red LED light in the top corner. Nothing seems to wake it up and Desktop Manager doesn't recognize any device is connected.
1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."

5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
Now, See if you uninstall any apps you question that might be cause the error --or theme.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Welcome to http://supportforums.blackberry.com
Donwload OS 9300 6.0.0.756
You must cause the error 507
Download BBSAK

By showing the error 507 the following applies
1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."

Blackberry Curve 8330 Error when doing backup
My blackberry curve 8330 has never been able to back up ... i thought that it may have just been my laptop as it was on its way out but i just bought a new laptop and set up the software on it and my blackberry still will not back up or sync with my laptop. What can i do to fix this problem?
your backup is good except your sound profiles
you could also go to backup-restore- advanced
push all databases from right to left except profiles
then file save... this way you get backup without the sound profiles -
App Error 523- Nothing is working
Hello,
I have a Blackberry curve 8310. Nothing is working anymore on my phone. There is this error message : app error 523. When I try to reset, it take 3 minutes of "waiting" with nothing on the screen, until the same message reappear. I also try taking off the battery for 3 minutes and put it in again, still nothing with the same message. I was wondering what can I do, and if nothing work, where can I send to phone for reparation, and how much it will cost for this kind of problem.
Thank you,Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.
You have some offending third party application or theme on the device causing the error.
Option One: IF you know which third party application is causing the error, you can use the command line functions of JL_Cmder to remove the cod file from the device. That is a complicated method but the most simple if you know what to remove.
Optionos Two: Wipe the device totally with JL_Cmder and reload the Operating System fresh. You will lose ALL data on the device, so I hope you have a recent backup of the device.
Read this link for details:
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
Do you have a recent backup? Search your entire PC hard drive c: for any file "*.ipd" (disclude the quote marks).

Help - I'm writing on behalf of my mother in law. She has a blackberry Curve and it has a white loading screen once this comes off it goes to the main screen then after 2 mins an app error 523 comes up and then restarts. This keeps repeating a vicious circle.
I hope someone can help!!
ThanksHi
The device wil need the operating system reloading.
This what I did to completely wipe my BB. I wrote this before starting and printed it off.
If your device is functioning, perform a backup now if you haven't already done so saving the file to a place and in a name that you can easily locate on computer.
I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer thus removing the OS for the BB from the computer in order to ensure that the version I would reinstall would be a brand new downloaded version.
Get the latest Desk Top Software
http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?CPID=OTC-DSKTPSW&cp=OTC-DSKTPSW
and install it on the computer.
Get the correct latest version of the OS
http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
and save it to computer.
To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps. This option is available with
BlackBerry Device Software 3.8 and later.
1. In the device Options, click Security.
If you are using BlackBerry Device Software 4.1, click Security Options > General Security.
2. Click the trackwheel and select Wipe Handheld.
3. Click Continue.
4. Type “blackberry”. All the data on the BlackBerry device is erased.
On some new versions of BlackBerry software, the menu navigation is slightly different.
1. Go to Options.
2. Select Security Options.
3. Select General Settings.
4. Click the Menu key.
5. Select Wipe Handheld.
6. Click Continue.
7. Type “blackberry”. All the data on the BlackBerry device is erased.
Launch the new Desk Top Software on the computer
1. Connect your device to your computer.
2. On the home screen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Update my device.
3. Do one of the following:
* To download an update, click Get update.
* To view other available versions of the BlackBerry Device Software, click View other versions. If applicable, click another version. Click Install.
Ensure the new OS is the one you prevously downloaded.
Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is completed and the device has rebooted.
After 10 minutes reboot again by removing the battery whilst powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functioning BB!

Error 523 Help!!!
Hi there,
I recently bought a curve.
I've been using it for past 3 months.
I haven't installed any applications.
I arrived abroad and put in a local sim
It's been working fine for past 2 weeks, changing from my sim to the local sim
Today I swapped sims and I get this message on a white screen "App Error 523 Reset"
I take the battery out and it starts up initializing my details..
I can quickly open my contacts for about 3-4 seconds
but then the screen becomes white with same message.
I haven't backed it up but it seems that the information is still there
I don't want to wipe the phone as I need the information urgently
How can I get it off the phone???
Someone please please helpHi
The advice would be to wipe and reinstall, as I'm sure you are aware. The following thread - last post - is the only thing I've seen which may come close to what you are attempting. Note that no-one posted back.

ANYONE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please refer to this official download portal as you proceed. It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. After installing the OS package to your PC, please remeber to delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
You may also need the use of these tricks:
KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

Need help! I am randomly getting the error 'jvm error 523' on my BB curve - 8310. The phone gets reset and I have to restart it.
