Error -6753 Airport Extreme 1st gen

Please help me!!
I tried and failed to connect wireless the airport Extreme (1st gen) over the past night.
The glitch started the same moment I reset to default settings. I won't be able to connect to it;  not even when I use a cable between the computer to the Airport.
After to I have tried all possible combinations Im pretty sick and tired...
And the only hint I got it's the error -6753
Thanx for your potential hints! If any

  • IPhone 5 won't connect to Airport Extreme (1st gen) at end of extended network

See the attached image below for my network setup... The Time Capsule is a 4th gen unit, the Airport Express (Mudroom) is a 2nd gen - both of which are dual band devices (5GHz *and* 2.4GHz at the same time). The Airport Extreme (Workshop) is a 1st gen unit that only supports one band at a time (5Ghz *or* 2.4Ghz, but not at the same time). Don't know if it matters, but the other Airport Express (Living Room Speakers) is a 1st gen "N" unit, again, either 5GHz *or* 2.4GHz at a time.
The Workshop and Mudroom devices are about 100-120' apart, and have a decent connection between the two (I have both units sitting in windows so there is minimal obstruction on a line-of-sight between them).
When I go out to the workshop, my iPhone 5 will not switch over to the device in the shop - it tries to stay connected to the unit in the mudroom, which of course has a weak signal because my iPhone is now inside a metal building.
I've searched online (here and google) to see if perhaps this has something to do with the dual band vs. single band nature of the devices, but haven't come up with anything definitive.
Any ideas? Do I need to get a newer Express to put out in the workshop that supports dual band?
    Thanks...

The graphic is fooling you. The Workshop AirPort will not extend the signal unless there is a dotted line directly from the TIme Capsule to the Workshop AirPort. You cannot have another AirPort in "between' the Time Capsule and Workshop AirPort if you want the Workshop AirPort to provide any additional wireless coverage.
For more details, see this Apple Support document note.
If you have a Mac laptop handy, we can do another test to prove that the Workshop AirPort is not extending the signal at all. It is "joining" the network....and it provides no additional wireless coverage that way.
If you want the Workshop AirPort to "extend" there must be a dotted line directly from the Time Capsule to the Workshop AirPort.  No other Airports can come "between" the Time Capsule and Workshop AirPort.

  • Software for Airport Extreme 1st Gen

    A1143:
What software to download? Should I need to have the software for it to run? Or is it okay for it just to be a router?
I'm having a problem in setting up my airport extreme and I'm wondering if it needs to be setup to my computer.
I bought this from a friend, so my only reference is the manuals and software given here in apple. No box.

have you tried the following ?
    open system preferences
    open network pane
select airport in the left list
    click the advanced button
    go to the TCP/IP tab
set the configure IPv6 field to OFF.
    click OK
    click apply
now try again to connect to your remote speakers.

  • Airport utility v6 doesn't see old airport extreme 1st ten

Using new version 6 Airport Utility, does not see older Airport Extreme (1st gen) that is on my network.  It sees my newer AP extreme and shows the ID for old machine yet I can't get to it to change configuration.

You will need to download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion to be able to access and make changes to any of the older AirPort products. AirPort Utility 6.0 only works with newer "n" devices.
You can use the more functional AirPort Utility 5.6 to configure all of your AirPorts...old or new.
Just keep both versions on your Mac and use the one that you want.

  • Config: Airport Basestation(1st gen w/802.11b) + Airport Express + Xbox

This is the motherload ? for Config./Setup Question:
    Airport Baestation(1st gen w/ 802.11b only) + Airport Express + Xbox
(Pertaining to: Network Settings, WDS, Airport Admin Utility)
    Network setups (2 possible configurations):
    1).Cable Modem ->(WAN)-> Airport BaseStation <-(LAN) -> Lynx Switch -> MacG4(OS 10.3.3) + XBOX using an Airport Express
    2).Cable Modem ->(WAN)-> Airport BaseStation <-(LAN) -> Lynx Switch -> MacG4(OS 10.3.3) + XBOX using a Logitech Play Link Wireless Network Bridge
*note with both of these configs. I have only been successful sending my XBox a signal using setup # 2. w/ the Logitech Play Link Wireless Network Bridge.
    To this point: (MacG4)
I have installed Amaryllis & Kaid for Mac OS X, & followed the Amaryllis Readme Doc.
I have followed the XLink Quick Start Guide & everthing is a go.
    To this point: (Network/Airport Configs.)
I factory reset my AE & ran the AE Assistance. I was able to “Set up a new Airport Express”, & see my AE in the Airport Admin Utility, at that point I got a solid green connection.
    Problem:
However, I was only able to do this when prompted “What would you like to do with your Airport Express” if I chose “Connect to my current network”, but at this point if I were to enable(check) the “Extend the range of my Airport wirless network”, & from my understanding this has to be done. I am not able to finish the setup, I get an error right after I enter in my basestation password.
    Possible contributing factors to problem:
My password for both my Airport Basestation & Airport Express are the same.
    > BaseStation Config. using Airport Admin Utility
    1).Internet(tab) >connecting using DHCP.
2).Network(tab) > Distribute IP addresses > I have “Share a single IP address (using DHCP and NAT) enabled, instead of “Share a range of IP addresses (using only DHCP).
3).WDS(tab) > can’t enable WDS and keep settings active. (i.e. I can enable them, but if I close out & return they are disabled.
Airport Express Config. using Airport Admin Utility
1).Airport(tab) > Wireless Mode: “Join an Existing Wireless Network (Wireless Client)
2).Internet(tab) > Connecting using: “Wireless Network”, and Airport(WDS) is grayed out.
The only other thing I am curious if it might be causing some issues with my BaseStation is:
If you navigate to: System Preferences > Sharing > Internet(tab), my internet sharing is turned Off. I noticed a grayed out “Airport Options”, that might become active if I enable Internet Sharing and choose a port to share my connection.
*I didn’t do this becuase I got the warning “If you turn on this port, your Internet Service provider might terminate service to prevent you disrupting it’s network…yada yada..
With all that said, I would be extremely appreciative if someone could drop some serious knowledge on me...
    Thx,

    Dual 1Ghz G4 2GigsRAM Mac OS X (10.3.3) Airport Baestation(1st gen w/ 802.11b only) + Airport Express

To extend the range of a wireless network you need WDS and to use WDS you need two Airports:
AirPort Express and all AirPort Extreme base stations can use WDS. Earlier AirPort base stations can't.

  • Why can't I connect to my airport extreme(4th gen.) after reseting the password

i was changing the password on my airport extreme(4th gen.) and it said that i changed it succesfully but it had a error when it was restarting and i can't connect back to the internet what should it do

Please perform a Factory Default Reset to clear the old, and possibly corrupted settings on the AirPort Extreme to get it back to original settings. Then, reconfigure the device again using the passwords of your choice.

  • I can't update airport extreme 1st generation

I can't get my airport extreme 1st generation updated. When I open AirPort Utility on my macbook with maverick it ties to configure the new AirPort but says: This version of AirPort Utility requires this AirPort Extreme use firmware version 7.3.1 or later. I am currently using wifi on a netgear router. I first unpluged the cable from that router and plugged in the AirPort and tried to set it up. Then I unplugged everything and plugged it back in. I just keep getting the same outcome. I am no longer trying to connect to the network but get it updated for use. Is there a solution to this issue?

You need to use....or borrow for a few minutes....a Mac running the Leopard (10.5.x) or Snow Leopard (10.6.x) operating system to update the the firmware on the 1st Gen AirPort Extreme.
Once the device is updated to at least firmware version 7.5.2, you will be able to use AirPort Utility in Mavericks to administer and update the AirPort to higher versions of firmware if you wish.

  • Airport Extreme 2nd Gen - can not retrieve or assign an IP address

I had two 2nd gen Airport Extreme base stations. One connects to the internet, the other bridges the network to my office where I have wired devices connected. The office base station was no longer allowing me to connect to my USB drive for time machine backups, but all of the wired devices were routing to the internet properly.
I purchased a new base station (5th gen), bringing my total to three extreme stations and two express base stations (one express for an old wired network printer, the other for streaming music).
The old main base station is moved into the office, and the new base station (5th gen) becomes the "main" internet access point. I reset both devices and they install without a hiccup. Ditto the new express stations - they connect without having to reset them. Everything works as it did before the upgrade.
I take the old office base station (the one that would not allow me to backup via time machine) and do a factory reset. It reboots, the light flashes yellow (not surprising). I hook an old macbook (10.6.8) up to the old base station (and turned off the wifi) using a wired ethernet cable the ethernet port is assigned an IP address (10.0.1.2) via DHCP. My other macbook pro (10.8.5) running the latest AirPort Utility sees the old base station using wifi (under other wifi network). I select the old base station it automatically connects it to my new base station stating:
"This Airport Extreme will now be set up to extend <my new 5th gen AirPort Extreme base station>"
I change the default name and click next.
Now when the old office base station boots it will not connect to the network - it still flashes yellow. It will not assign itself an IP address, the macbook plugged into the ethernet port (using dhcp) shows (under network settings):
"Ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet."
    (the 169.... number)
Now the funky part. I manually set the wired ethernet's IP4 configuration (IP, subnet, router and dns server) on the old Macbook running snow leapord (10.6.8) - remember the wifi is turned off - and bingo - I am connected to the internet. All the while my old AirPort Exreme continues to blink yellow. If I manually assign an IP address to the AirPort Exreme's light turns green.
Clearly the old device is working. The ethernet port works, the wifi works - routing traffic from the wired ethernet through my home network and out to the internet. My AirPort utility on all my macs can see the base station, and can configure it (via wifi). I have even tried (via wifi) downgrading the firmware to 7.6.3 and then to 7.6.0 and the back up to 7.6.4. The only thing it will not do is give retrieve an IP address, or assign an IP address to wired devices.
    Any ideas?

I attempted to see/access (via the Disk Utility on my iMac) two drives already connected to my AirPort Extreme, but could not.
These drives are shared "network" drives, which Disk Utility cannot access. Disk Utility will only be able to access a drive if it is connected directly to a Mac.
If you need to format the drive(s), partition them, etc., you must do so with the drive connected directly to the Mac, then move them to the USB powered hub location at the AirPort Extreme.
These drives are available through the Finder and are used for Time Machine
Apple does not officially support Time Machine backups to a drive connected to the AirPort Extreme, but some users seem to be able to make this work.
    1) Can I see/access USB drives (properly fomatted and visible/accessible in the Finder window) attached to my AirPort Extreme (2nd gen-firmware version 7.6.2)via a powered USB hub?
Probably. Some users find that one powered hub will work for them while another might not. To "see" the drives, you must first click on the AirPort Extreme icon under the SHARED heading in the Finder. Then, if the drives are formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled), each drive will appear as a folder. Double click the folder name to mount the drive on the desktop.
    2) Can I use my iMac (running Lion 10.7.4) to create a concatenated disk set with USB drives (of varying size) attached to my AirPort Extreme via a powered USB hub?
The drives will all appear as separate drives, which must be accessed separately. If you were thinking of trying to start Time Machine backups on one drive and have them continue automatically on another drive when the first drive is full, that will not work.

  • Usb hard drive connected to AirPort Extreme 5th gen not detectable

  • Apple TV 3rd Gen no longer sees Airport Express 1st gen in Airplay after update

Apple TV 3rd gen was connected to AirPort Express 1st gen via WiFi, drove a video device via HDMI
and sent audio to the AirPort using Airplay and selecting the AirPort Express under Speakers.
I could adjust the volume with the AppleTV remote.
Apple TV was stored unused for a while.
After powering on yesterday, I ran the update.
Now Apple TV is connected to the Airport Express via WiFi
but Airport Express doesn't show in AirPlay settings.
I can still use AirPlay from my MacBook running Snow Leopard.
There are no updates available for the AirPort

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • Can't print from iPad to HP via Airport Extreme (5th gen)

I have an HP Deskjet 5900 connected to an Airport Extreme (5th gen), via the USB port. I'm currently running 10.6.8 and have succesfully setup the printer such that I can print wirelessly from my MacBooks, as well as directly from my MacPro desktop (which is connected to the AEB through the network).
What I can't do is AirPrint from my iPad or iPhone.
I've skimmed through quite a few questions on here, but haven't come across this specific scenerio. The closest one refers to printers that are AirPrint compatible, but I believe that only applies to wireless printers that are being connected on their own (without an AEB).
I really hope I don't have to download an app for this... it's built right into the iOS!
    Thanks for the help.
    Stephen

To use AirPrint directly from your iPad, you will need a printer that is AirPrint-compatible. Currently, the HP Deskjet 9500 is not one of them. There a few workarounds, but they will require obtaining an App.

    Hola:

What model and firmware is the 2TB TC?
    What firmware is the AE?
Does the AE get good signal from the TC in its current location?
Signal can only be extended that is received intact.
Is it extending on 5ghz? As I remember it a Gen2 AE is only single band, although you can choose either 2.4ghz or 5ghz.
I am fairly sure you are going to tell me your TC is AC model..
I would do a couple of things..
    1. Fix the wireless name, make it short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
    2. Fix the wireless channel for 2.4ghz so it is not going to jump around.
    3. Get real results from the AE in its current location for signal strength.. this is really only possible on v5 utility. And that is a double pain with Mavericks because you cannot use it.
Apple have removed all the useful diagnostics from the airport utility. There is next to nothing left. So you need to use the computer and its diagnostics to find signal levels in the location.

  • HT1998 I have what I believe, though I am not certain, an Airport Extreme 1st generation. My internet speeds on my hardwired pc are running in half and a bit higher on my Mac Pro. Cable claims it is a problem with the router since I can bring the PC speed

Bear with me please as I have never used the community before. I have an Airport Extreme 1st generation at least I think it is a 1st generation. My PC is hardwired and my Mac Pro, obviously wireless. I have 50/8 mbps service but the speeds on my PC run around 20/8 and 30/8 on the Mac. Cable says it is a problem with the airport since my PC speeds rise to 50 when the airport is disconnected. Does anyone know what to do?

The simplest way would be to perform a "soft" reset on the AEBS. This type of reset will temporarily disable all of the AEBS's passwords up to five minutes. This should give you ample time to access the AEBS with the AirPort Utility to change it.
If you don't want to actually change the password, then you can possibly retrieve the password from the OS X Keychain, as follows:
Run the Keychain Access utility found in \Applications\Utilities
In the category column (on the left side of the utilities' window), select "All Items."
In the right column look for your Network Name. It will have a "Kind" of "AirPort network password."
Double-click on your network name listing.
    Click on "Show password."
    Enter your Mac's administrator's password
Your wireless network's password should now be displayed.
