Error 70025 on store bought DVD's??!!

Hello,
I am having problems playing a store bought DVD on my IMac.
It just comes up with error 70025
Disc copy protection cannot be verfied.
Is this copy protection to stop people playing DVD's on there computer?!
The disc works on VLC so why does it not work on Mac osx dvd player?!
Also this disc does not play on my Playstation.
Anybody know why of have any info??

In the meantime Go to your OS Help Menu. In the search field type dvd
Click on all the troubleshooting topics & Support Articles that pertain to your issue.
You can also do the same in Disk Utility. Open same up.
At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.
This will bring up the Help Menu.

Putting store bought dvd's on your ipod

Is it possible to put a store bought DVD on your ipod? If so how can you do it, I am having a hard time.

In the US it is illegal to break the encryption on DVD's.
If you had a Mac- Handbrake would be the answer. It rips and reencodes the DVD in one step and is free.
Under windows- I suppose you could look for 2 seperate programs, one to break the encryption and rip it to your hard drive and a second one to convert it. I believe they have paid for programs that do it.

DVD drive won't mount store bought dvd(s)

Recently, I have been having problems getting my macbook pro to play store bought (brand new) dvds. The two dvds I have had problems with are Taxi Driver, and Cinderella III. I believe both are DL if that matters.
The drive basically keeps winding up and down and never mounts or plays the media. Both work fine in my stand alone dvd player.
any suggestions?

What exact MBP model do you have? My 2.16 Core 2 Duo began having trouble reading certain cds and dvds.
Long story short, it'll soon have trouble reading everything and you'll have to get it replaced.

DVD drive won't play brand new store bought DVDs - makes grinding noise

I just bought my iMac last September and it was going great until the last month or so. First it started making noises when I inserted a new DVD and was slow to start, but it still worked. Then it started taking longer and sometimes rejecting the disc once - I'd re-insert and it'd be fine. Later it started rejecting more than once before it would play and now it seems to have stopped altogether and generally won't play any DVDs. I do watch a lot of movies, but even with a little more than average use it still seems a bit ridiculous that the drive would die or burn out in less than one year, right?? Has anyone else had this issue and/or resolved this issue? I'm new to Macs and haven't had to call the service people before but have heard others say they've had issues with the store service - should I call AppleCare instead? Any suggestions/tips/help would be appreciated. Thx.

It happens. Just be lucky it's still under warranty and give Apple Care a call.

The Apple DVD Player application isn't part of iDVD.

Since you mention "commercial DVDs" I asume they use some kind of copy-protection.

Cd/DVD not burning. Error Code 0x8002006E when burning DVD's

I have a MacBook Black and am trying to burn cd's and dvd's. I have tried multiple brands of DVD and CD and can get the cd's to burn once in a while with a microboards printable cd. When they don't burn I get either an error saying something about not being able to calibrate laser power, or it goes through like it's burning and shows up on the desktop, but when I go to open the disk, there is nothing on it. DVD's never finish, giving me the error code 0x8002006E. It will also not read any DVDr's on the machine. Stamped DVD's (store bought)are fine, but multiple brands of DVDr will not read. All of the burned DVD's I have are personal movies and music videos that I made on the machine. Anyone have any suggestions? Is my superdrive toast?

You can check in system profile and select disc burning to verify what cd/dvds are readable by your superdrive....Also with that error message you can try removing any extra ram chip installed, with that model powerbook it also has onboard ram built into logic...being a disc reading problem id say its the superdrive itself, you can try cleaning the lens with those cleaning discs you buy from electronic stores..Burn disc whilst running on power adaptor and not battery...

How do I activate previously store bought CS6 Student version on a new computer without optical drive?

I have a store bought student version of CS6, which I have had on my old computer for the last 2 years. I now bought a new computer without an optical drive and I tried downloading the software from Adobe. When I entered the previously assigned serial number it said "The serial number you entered is invalid. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact Customer Support" well....there is no real customer support that I can find, so any help would be appreciated.

Importing and playing store bought CDs

Just got an I Pod Nano & a great sounding Altec Lansing docking/speaker system. Began syncing songs that I already imported into I Tunes. Of course I also began importing more songs from store bought CDs. Just started having a problem with a majority of my CDs - when I click on import - songs won't import. Status bar never appears and 1st song to import just sticks. Also can't play the CD in I Tunes to listen to it. But........ some of my CDs will still import and play just fine?????????? Have tried changing preferences for the Encoder but nothing seems to work. I have to force quit the App & relaunch it every time. If I try the same CD again I get the same results??????

There have been a bunch of similar problems reported here lately. The only suspicious thing in your diagnostics is the Gear drivers, so the first thing to try is to update your Gear firmware. Then retry with iTunes.
I'm wondering if it might be my CD/DVD RW playing up.
If the CD rips OK in another program, it is probably not a drive problem.

App Store won't open, error message "App Store can not be opened because of a problem". I haven't been able to update anything for a week or so. I have used Disk Utility, Drive Genius, deleting the .plist, all to no avail. My Mac Mail hasn't worked since the upgrade to Mavericks. Mavericks can't see my LaCie Cloudbox. Can any of these be solved by me?

I have the same error "XXXX App cannot be opened because of a problem". And I also cannot open iTunes and get the error "This copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes."
Only Apple apps seem to be at issue here...
Repairing Permissions did not fix this.

EMac optical drive: Reads but ceased writing. I get "Sense key=MEDIUM ERROR, Sense Code=0x0C, WRITE ERROR. Drive is Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-127D.

eMac optical drive: reads fine but has ceased writing. One day it's working fine, burning DVDs, then after repeated attempts stops copying and gives the following error message: "Sense key=MEDIUM ERROR, Sense Code=0x0C, WRITE ERROR". Drive is Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-127D. Is this a software issue or is the drive half dead? Get the same result with either Popcorn or Toast 10.

i been trying to purchase music and get into my itunes account but error -1202 won't allow me to get into my account or purchase music. I spoken with the so called experts at apple and they've been putting me through the ringer with their suggestions that don't work. i've been purchasing music all before with no problems why all of a sudden this problem?
