Error 720 Windows 8.1 Pro

When I try to connect to my work with my vpn connection I get below error :
Error connection to VPN. Error 720. I have Windows 8.1 Pro
They advice me to reinstall the tcp/ip protocol but I can't because I can not click on uninstall. Can you help me resolving this (below point 2) problem?
Uninstall the TCP/IP protocol. To do so:
In Control Panel, double-click Network and Dial-up Connections, right-click
Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.
Under Components checked are used by this connection, click
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Uninstall.
Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall TCP/IP.
Restart the computer when prompted, but click No if you are prompted to allow Windows to enable a protocol.
Right-click This PC, and then click Properties.
Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
On the View menu, click Show hidden devices.
Under Network adapters, there should be no WAN Miniport IP devices.
Reinstall the TCP/IP protocol. To do so:
In Control Panel, double-click Network and Dial-up Connections, right-click
Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.
Click Install.
In the Select Network Component Type dialog box, click
Protocol, and then click Add.
Under Network Protocol, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click
OK.
When the protocol is installed, click Close.
Reset the modem by turning the power off and then on, or for an internal modem, restart the computer.
Test your Internet connectivity.

Hi ,
“They advice me to reinstall the tcp/ip protocol but I can't because I can not click on uninstall”
Please try the following steps to reinstall the Tcp/IP protocol:
1.Press the start button then right-click My Computer > Properties.
2. From properties go to Device Manager; if you are using an older version of Windows you will need to click on the hardware tab to get to Device Manager.
3. On the Device Manager toolbar click on View and then click on Show hidden devices from the menu list.
4. Now locate Network Adapters and click on the “+” sign next to it. If there are no WAN miniports then you can go right to the “Reinstalling TCP/IP Protocol” section. If you do have WAN miniports and they have yellow exclamation marks then proceed to step
8.
5. Get to the registry editor by clicking the start button > All Programs > Accessories > Run. Type in “regedit” and click Ok.
6. In the registry editor you will need to find this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
7. Export this value for later use by right-clicking on it and choosing Export. Name the file whatever you wish and save it to Desktop.
8. You will now need to do a bit of searching. You’ll be looking through each subkey (e.g. 0001) to find which one matches up with your WAN miniport driver with the exclamation mark. To determine which one corresponds, you will need to look for DriverDesc under
the Name row and look for the value that is in the same column under the Data row. Once you know which subkey contains the problematic driver, right-click it and delete it.
9. Now you must go back to the Device Manager. Remember to click on View and select Show hidden devices. Go to Network Adapters and locate the WAN miniport that was causing problems and uninstall the driver.
And then take the steps you have got to reinstall TCP/IP Protocol
Best regards

  • Remote Desktop Connection Authentication Error from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 7 Pro

I keep trying to connect to my server running Windows 7 Pro from my laptop running Windows 8.1 Pro, but I get the following message after providing
    my credentials:
"An authentication error has occurred (Code: 0x8007001f)"
I can't find any reference to this error code being associated with using remote desktop.

    Hello,
Are you connecting to a server as part of a domain ? if so confirm you are using adequate credentials for remote desktop for example: username: domain\administrator
if not you can try connecting to the localhost using:
    username: .\administrator   - for example
also you can try running your remote connection in admin mode:
Win + R - bring up run then type:
    mstsc /admin
    hope that helps.
    Cheers,
    Harry

  • MDT 2012 'Failed to save Environment to (80070057) Error during Windows 7 x64 Pro Deployment

    Hi There,
I've been using MDT for a little while now, but I'm having problems successfully deploying an image to a batch of new laptops. The laptop HDD's are completely blank, and I am PXE booting using an x64 Litetouch Image via WDS. I have successfully captured
my image from a reference laptop (the same model that I'm trying to image), and I am now trying to deploy it using a standard client task sequence.
The 'Install operating System' phase seems to go ok, but then sits for quite some time at the 'Applying Unattend.xml' stage, then eventually, I get a general error 'Task Sequence Failed - 80004005'. I then exit MDT (it doesn't reboot as it should), and let
the laptop boot, which it does, and logs straight on into Windows, but gives me error along the lines of 'can't find the litetouch script', which I assume means MDT hasn't been able to copy it across. The laptop is however joined to our domain, and I pretty
much just have to tick the 'require a password to log on to this computer' box in user accounts, and all looks ok.
So in summary, the image is applying, but the laptop is not rebooting and running the final cleanup scripts.
I have already changed the SATA mode to IDE, instead of AHCI, having read this sometimes causes problems. I also read that systems with UEFI BIOS can also cause problems with MDT, but I'm not sure if this is the case.
I have edited my customsettings.ini, to copy log files back to my server, which it has done for me. Having looked at the logs (with CM Trace), I can see these errors:

Any help you can give me would be great, as I'd like to get this process running properly.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

You don't mention what kind of OS this is (Windows 7 Pro x64?)
    This is a known issue/FAQ.
I would recommending using MDT 2012 (update 1) for UEFI machines.
Machines with uEFI 2.3.1 only support Windows 8.x.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824898.aspx
Recomendation: Convert the BIOS to CSM and/or upgrade to Windows 8.1 :^)

  • Device I/O Error with Windows on Macbook Pro

I have a friend who has the newest Macbook Pro Unibody Laptop. I have a Macbook Pro as well. He just got his laptop and tried using boot camp to install Windows XP Home. When it was copying the files to the hard drive after formatting, I had to keep telling it to retry copying the files. It would say it couldn't so retry, skip, or cancel and i would retry with each file. It would do this many many times before it would finish copying all the files. At first, everytime I would try and boot into windows, right after the windows screen, it would give me a BSOD. SO we erased that partition and tried again except this time, we got into where Windows finishes installing and you can set it up and it had a device i/o error and it would not proceed.
He went out and bought Parallels Desktop 6, we tried on that VM and it gave us the same Device I/O error.
When he bought the computer, the CD drive made a loud buzzing noise. He called into support and they had him hold control, option, and shift to reset the drives. The noise is fixed, but I think the problem has something to do with the CD drive. He just wants to be able to run Windows one way or another. Thanks for any help in advance.

Depends what you want to do...
    http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/10/02/09/parallelstakes_virtualization_speed_crown_in_head_to_head_withvmware.html
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
start by backing up, use Boot CAmp Assistant and install 7 and get it up to date and your OS X DVD to install the Apple Boot CAmp 3 drivers installed and updated. Then whatever you need and intended to use, along with Microsoft Security Essentials.
Then you can use it natively, or inside OS X using Parallels.
If you just want a VM, no need to go through installing Windows on its own hard drive with Boot Camp.

  • Connector install fails with Server Error on Windows 8.1 Pro

I have tried everything and cannot get the connector software to install on my computer.
    Server=Dell PowerEdge R210II, Windows 2012 Essentials
Computer = Dell Inspiron 17R, Windows 8.1 Professional
LAN = 192.168.0.0/24, Server is 192.168.0.2, not using IPv6 but it's enabled on server and clients. Computers get IP and config from DHCP, DNS only points to server. servername.domain.local resolves fine. I can also join the computer to AD the old way
(without connector). I have other Windows 8 comptuers on the domain that have the connector installed.

I found the issue. The web.config file became damaged on the server. C:\Program Files\Windows Server\Bin\WebApps\CertWebService\Web.config is the file. Performed a search and replace, replace all instances of "%SBSPRODUCTBINPLACEHOLDER% with C:\Program Files\Windows
Server\Bin, restart IIS and run the Connector software install again. Here is a KB on the issue:

    UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
    If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
    use .trap on that value
    Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
    Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

  • Windows 8.1 Pro Activation Error Code: 0xC004C003

I bought a HP Desktop - 110-a04 last month and registered with HP but last week I realized that my Windows 8.1 Pro is not activated yet. When I tried to activate the Windows it gives me an error which is  "The activation server determined the specified product key has been blocked, Error Code : 0xC004C003.
Secondly, I want to downgrade my OS to Windows 7. Where can I find the step by step procedure?
Would appreciate if someone can advise how to fix this?

    Hello @SIKhan,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that you are looking to downgrade your operating system to Windows 7, and that your system indicates that your installed OS is not activated. I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
Since your computer only has supported software for Windows 8.1, I do not recommend downgrading to an older version of Windows. Alternatively, you can ensure your installed version of operating system is activated by following the steps in this documnent on Windows 8 Product Activation.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • Windows 8.1 Pro has error while joining domain, while windows 7 pro has no problem to join in the same network

I am having the same issue as posted in http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/6ea57e5f-6e9d-49bd-9dd7-832ea84c0276/windows-81-pro-will-not-join-domain?forum=w8itpronetworking
There are a few other people have the same issues.  However there was no real solution provided although the post was marked as answered.  I am posting it here again and hopefully I can get some help to solve this issue.
We got two new PCs, one with windows 7 and the other with windows 8.1 Pro.  In the same network with domain, the windows 7 pc has no problem at all to join the domain.  However the windows 8.1 Pro won't join the domain. On the windows 8.1 Pro computer,
I can ping the other computers in the network.  The error message says:
An Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for the domain "cmi" could not be contacted. ...
In my case, the domain name is "CMI".  I am sure the DNS setting is correct.  What did I do wrong?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I tried the solution in that article.
In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters folder, there is no
NeutralizeNT4Emulator.  So I followed the instructions and created one, and set the value to 1. Then I restarted the computer and tried to join the domain again.  I got the same error.  Below is more from the netsetup log file:

The domain name "cmi" might be a NetBIOS domain name.  If this is the case, verify that the domain name is properly registered with WINS.
If you are certain that the name is not a NetBIOS domain name, then the following information can help you troubleshoot your DNS configuration.
DNS was successfully queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain "cmi":
The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.cmi
The following domain controllers were identified by the query:
    cmi-dc2.cmi
    cmi-dc1.cmi
However no domain controllers could be contacted.

  • Error 2 and Apple Application Support Not Found - Windows 8.1 Pro

I was unable to update iTunes when the new update came out, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. When re-installing it I received the following error:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type=”win32”,version=”8.0.50727.6195”,publicKeyToken=” fc8b3b9a1e18e3b”,processorArchitecture=”amd64”’. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070422.
I click OK and the process continues until I receive the following error:
Service ‘Apple Mobile Device Service’ (Apple Mobile Device Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. “
I ran the program as an Administrator from the start, so I do have sufficient privileges. I am given three options: Abort, Retry, and Ignore. Retry doesn’t work, so I hit ignore. The process then completes and when I try and open the program I receive the following error:
Apple Application Support was not found.  Apple Application Support is requires to run iTunesHelper. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2
I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times and attempted Apple Application Support by itself by unzipping the setup. When I do that I receive the following error:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type=”win32”,version=”8.0.50727.6195”,publicKeyToken=” 1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b”,processorArchitecture=”amd64”’. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070422.
I have no idea what else to try. Please help.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

    Hi
The toshiba thinkpad should have builtin software to update drivers and software packages etc.
You can also look at this site, it might help you.

  • Error Installing Windows 8.1 on SSD which is in place of macbook pro's SuperDrive

I'm trying to install a regular copy of Windows 8.1 pro on an SSD on a Macbook Pro mid 2010. The SSD has been mounted replacing the old, unused SuperDrive with a support to add another disk.
After starting the setup and formatting the disk to be ready for Windows 8.1 i press continue to start the actual setup but after few seconds an error 0xC0000005 appears. I've never had problems installing windows on this mac, now i'm completely puzzled.
    Thank you for your help

    okay, thanks!
but I guess the bigger problem will be that the internal Superdrive is replaced and that there is not support for installing windows from an external optical drive if you had an internal drive before. Or am I false!?
But I will try to install windows 7, may be this works! Do you know wheather the upgrade from win7 to win 8.1 is possible?

  • Error 16 on Windows 8.1 Pro

I cant launch AP CS6 64bit on Windows 8.1 Pro (Error 16 Re: Error 16 on Photoshop CS 5). I have found some solution, but its only for Windows 8.0 - in Win 8.1 some crucial parts missing. Can someone help please? Thx a lot.

    UPDATE!!
Attempted to uninstall and reinstall client after uninstalling MS Office and no change. Anyone out there experience this?

  • Receiving error 51 on Windows 8.1 Pro

    Hello everyone,
I know there have been several posts about this issue, however, I have tried all the solutions and none seem to be working for me. I had the VPN client working on this system (Surface w/ Windows 8.1 Pro) yesterday. Today after installing Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus w/ service pack 1, I receive an Error 51: Unable to communicate with the VPN subsystem. I uninstalled Office and tried to connect and got the same error.
I will attempt to uninstall and re-install the client and see if that works, but am trying to see if anyone else has seen this issue and if so, is there a fix for it.
I need to get this system to a user today, with or without MS Office, but would like them to be able to have a fully functioning system when they come back.
