Error: -8969 trying to export .mov file to MPEG-4

I have a .mov file of a band performance. The file is 1Gb in size. When I try to export this file to an MPEG-4 format with H.264 codec using QuickTime Pro on both my laptop and a work desktop, I get about 17% into it and then Error:
-8969 Unknown error has occurred. I can't find any reference to that number in this forum, on Apple's search or Google for that matter. Does anyone have an idea? I suspect it is a problem with the file itself since it crashes the same on two different computers. Here is the original file properties:
Format: Apple Planar RGB, 354x240, 16-bit Integer (Big Endian), Stereo, 48kHz
Frames/sec: 29.97
Data Size: 1.0 GB
Data Rate: 5.34 MB
Duration: 3:12
I am certainly not experienced with this stuff, but apparently neither is the 'videographer' who recorded it.
HP laptop   Windows XP Pro

Take the file to a friend that owns a Mac and QuickTime Pro. Pay for it if needed as it will sort out your mess.

Basic understanding of export formats may have helped the original exporter of the file.
What you have is a nearly "raw" file composed of an image format and a raw audio track.
If you can ask them to send a DV stream of the same file you should be able to continue your work.
Is the video some special image format prior to export from QuickTime?

  • Unknown Error when trying to export movie with certain PNG files in Adobe Premiere

    Hi!
I've made an animation video in Premiere Pro CC2014 combining apple pro-res live action with png animation. When trying to export, some parts of the video are no problem, and some (seemingly random) png files Adobe Premiere just doesn't like?? I don't understand why it will export some and not others?
    Help??!
    Thanks so much!!

Error compiling movie can be anything from gap to bad clip, transition, effect, nest, you name it.
Export from AME with preview open and watch were in the timeline it goes wrong.
That is the place to fix it.

  • Why is Premiere getting an error when trying to export .MXF files?

    Hello!
I have a video that I need to submit to DMDS and it must be a .mxf file. This is the first time I've ever had to export a .mxf so I am not too familiar with the type. I have been exporting every other type of file for years and never had an issue (H.264, quicktime, etc.). However, when I try exporting .mxf I get the generic rendering error which then stops the export.
The first time I tried, the video was down to 12 minutes left (after about 2 and a half hours) when I got the error.
The next time, it crashed right away with over 2 hours still remaining.
So it does not seem to be a corrupt clip because: A) I've been rendering this video out as other file types for rough previews, drafts, etc and it's worked fine and B) The 2 crash times were on opposite ends of the spectrum.
I am running an iMac with OSX 10.7.5, 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 8GB ram...I am using Premiere Pro Version 6.0.0
I do have Third Party plug ins installed but have never had an issue exporting in the past, only with this .mxf file.
Thanks in advance for any and all help!

If you have GPU accelertation enabled in Premiere Pro, try switching to Software Only.
Are you queuing the job to AME or clicking "Export" in the Export Settings dialog (which encodes directly through Premiere)? Whichever path you're going down, try the other one.
I'd also keep an eye on your resource usage, especially RAM, while encoding in progress. With 8GB of RAM, I'd be surprised if that were the problem.
Lastly, if you're encoding through AME, then you might want to post on that product's forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/ame

  • Error when trying to export imovie file

I have put together a 30min slideshow of photos with music from itunes, but no matter how I try to export it, I get an error message.
'The movie could not be sent to quicktime, because of an unknown error.
Please make sure that your project disk has write permission, and that you have enough disk space (error-42)'
I am running the most recent OX software, have 19gigs of space free. The file size is 698megs. Any suggestions???

Mmmm - so it won't even allow sharing as an uncompressed full-quality QT file. Does it include iTunes store tracks? (don't know if that would cause your particular problem). Could you test by creating a new project with just a few pics (drag and drop from your current project) and without the music track? Or maybe just do a Save As, and trash the music from it.

Is there a size limit to the export? I have an 80MB file I would like to export. Smaller files have exported successfully, but now I am getting this totally unhelpful error message:
    An unknown error occurred.

  • Exporting .Mov files at 24fps for Final Cut Pro 5

I work at an animation production house and we're trying to export .mov files from QT 7.1.2 at 24fps so they won't have to be rendered in a FCP project which is a 720p project with a frame size of 1280x720, we're experimenting with two codecs. We're using Motion Jpeg A and Photo Jpeg, selecting 24fps but for some reason they import into FCP 5 at 10fps. It's as though QT isn't outputting accurate 24fps .mov files. When I export .mov files from FCP they import back into FCP without having to be rendered. What's the difference between the ones exported from QT vs. the .mov files exported from FCP. We're using the exact same settings and files....? The reason we need to use QT to do this is because it needs to be a somewhat automated process (lots of stills to work with) and our PA's are working on Windows with QT only.

You should post your inquiry at Final Cut Pro section for better support. Anyway, Final Cut Pro does not always recognize the frame rate correctly, depending on which application (and possibly which codec) you used to compress video. For example, Snapz Pro X and Adobe After Effects don't get along with Final Cut Pro in this respect. Furthermore, compressing video in H.264 will be a bad idea. So simply adjust the size of Canvas so that it won't cover the whole screen. In this way, you can even replay video on Canvas and even send it for final production.

  • Object Open Error while trying to export the vDataFact table

I am getting an error when trying to export the vDataFact table to a flat file.  I have been able to do this several time before with the segment tables but would like to run this against vDataFact
The error in the error log is:
       ERROR:
           Code............ -2147217915
           Description..... Object was open.
    The screen error is:
The connection cannot be used to perform this operation.  It is either closed or invalid in this context.
The line that appears to cause the issue is: Set rssql = API.DataWindow.DataAccess.farsKeySet(CStr(strSQL))
    Here is my complete script:
    Sub webdatafacts()
    'Declare Variables
       Dim objFileSystem 'File System
       Dim strFileName 'File name
       Dim ObjTextFile
    'SQL variables
Dim strSQL ' Placehold for SQL Query
Dim rssql 'Placeholder for result set for sql query execution
    'SQL Statement
                strSQL = "SELECT PartitionKey, Account, AccountX, Entity, EntityX, ICP, ICPX, UD1, UD1X, UD2, UD2X, UD3, UD3X, UD4, UD4X, Amount  FROM vDataFact"
                set rsSQL = DW.DataAccess.farsFireHose(strSQL,False)
    'Create the filesystem object
                Set objFileSystem = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
                Set ObjTextFile = objFileSystem.OpenTextFile(DW.Connection.PstrDirInbox & "\VDataFactExport.txt", 2, TRUE, 0)
                ObjTextFile.Close
If Not rssql.EOF and Not rssql.BOF Then
                Set objTextFile = objFileSystem.OpenTextFile(DW.Connection.PstrDirInbox & "\VDataFactExport.txt", 2, FALSE, 0)
                Do Until rssql.EOF
'Loop across all fields in recordset delimiting them with a tab key
                For i = 0 To rssql.Fields.Count -1
               strString = StrString & rssql(i) & vbTab
               Next
'Output the resulting string to the text file
              ObjTextFile.WriteLine (strString)
'Reset the string to empty for the next record
             strString = ""
'Move to the next record in the recordset
                  rssql.MoveNext
                  Loop
'Close the recordset and the text file
                 rssql.Close
                 ObjTextFile.Close
        End If
'Destroy the instance of the recordset from memory
          Set rssql = Nothing
    End Sub

Thanks, that was one of my suspicions, however, i was able to get the script to work by changing:
    set rsSQL = DW.DataAccess.farsFireHose(strSQL,False)
    to
    set rsSQL = DW.DataAccess.farsFireHose(strSQL,True)
...to be honest though, i'm not entirely sure why that fixed my issue

  • Error - 2048 not a valid movie file

    hello,
I'm a NAPP member and had been following the photoshop TV casts on QT....however, now I get the error message 'error - 2048 not a valid movie file'...its an mpeg4 QT file, but I get the message whenever I attempt to play the downloaded file...or when I try to just watch the stream, it won't open the URL...these are the only movies that I'm having this problem with...as I can watch other movies from other sites w/o incident...NAPP hasn't replied to my inquiries except that they don't support the TV shows.
    Any ideas?...would be appreciated...

Thank you very much for the link to videolan.org. I was having the same problem playing downloaded Photoshop TV videos. I tried MPlayer which worked but was not comprehensible. I had never heard of videolan, but it works like a charm.

  • Get 'Generic Error' when attempting to import .mov files with transparency?

I get the 'Generic Error' when attempting to import .mov files with transparency? I'm trying to use mattes with an alpha channel but I cannot import them. I have had this same issue since cs6, now I have it with cc 2014? Any clues would be most appreciated.
I have uninstalled the DVCPro Codec, but it didn't help.
I have tried converting the .mov file (which is now automatic in Yosemite) and this creates a ProRes4444 Codec, Again no luck with import.
I've seen this issue on the web, but never a solution? Anyone?

    Hi Terence,
I tried iPhoto Library Manager but it could not solve my problem. Opening the iPhoto library I can see that the reference to the pictures are pointing to my old location not to the new one. I considered running a script that would change all pointers since this is basically what is needed (in my case from /Volumes/RAID1/Fotos/XXX to /Volumes/Fotos/XXX). Instead I inserted a soft unix link to make to connection but that did not work. It is referring to the airport disk by the airport name rather than the mounted disk name. Very strange indeed. The problem is maybe not in iPhoto but in OSX? Anyway, maybe the only way out is to take some hours and manually run through all linked photos... cumbersome and annoying!

  • 8008 Error when trying to download movies from iTunes

I've searched Google and the discussion boards but no one seems to have a fix for the 8008 error when trying to download movies in iTunes. I have the latest version of iTunes, my Mac Mini is up to date with all of it's patches, I've tried deleting the movie in the download folder and redownload the movie but I still get nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix?
    Thanks,

    Morning pettis360,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For troubleshooting on this, take a look at this article:
    iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297
    "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
    Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
    Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
    Hope this helps,
    Mario

  • Error when trying to Export

    Hi all,
I'm getting a javascript error, when trying to export. (i.e. "Deployment Management" -> "Export").

    Hi Martin,
We are using OAM also. So, It might cause these errors. We will try to Install it from the beginning....
    Thanks....
    But, I have another issue.
    1) We put our new changes by running patch_jboss.cmd file. After doing this, if we run xlStartServer.bat on <OIM_HOME>\bin directory, we can see all the changes.
But, if we start jBoss using <JBoss>\bin\run.bat file, we can not see any changes. I try to clear cache using PurgeCache.bat file. But, it is still not working....
    2) When we start Jboss using xlStartServer.bat file, loggs are not written into <JBOSS>\server\default\log\server.log file. I try to configure using best practice guide. But, it is still not working...If I start JBoss using run.bat file on jboss, it writes loggs to server.log file..
    3) Earlier, when we are doing development, we did not use OAM server to connecto to web site. So, for some customizations, I get the current user's userLogin from
    <bean:define id="userLogin" name = "userMemberOfForm" property="userID" type="java.lang.String"/>..This works fine..
But, since we are going to use OAM or Windows authentication to connect to OIM web in live, it returns null or empty for "userLogin"....(if we use the above code)...How can I get the userLogin of the current login user....???
    Regards,

    Hi,
Trying to import mov file but getting error - codec missing or unavailable.. How to load the codec?
    Brian

Sorry for the delay in replying. Sent the files back to the videographer - turns out he had converted the files from his Pro camera format to mov and made a mistake in the convertion. Three of us spent a lot of time trying to sort it out and he confessed he made a mistake. Job now edited with correct converted files being used. Elements performed well.
