Did you make sure it was the exact file for your device and the latest version? I just downloaded the latest file for my iPhone4, put it in the folder I mentioned above and it ran the install versus downloading the file. This problem where it times out after downloading is a big Bug within iTunes that has been there ever since IOS 7.0 was released. I wished these apple developers would just fix iTunes. There are a ton of complaints about this issue. I sure miss Steve Jobs running this business, I really feel like it's gone down hill after he left.
    I hope this helps!
    Regards.

  • Can not update iPhone APPs. Message that one APP no longer available.

    Hi,
Last night I tried to update APPS in iTunes... showed 9 updates available. I tried to update them but at the beginning of the process I got a message that one of the APPs was no longer available ( didn't say which one) and the process stopped. None of the APPs was updated. Tried a number of times with same result. What can I do? Anyone else seen this?
Iphone was NOT attached at the time.

I have a similar problem, I can't update on my iPhone either. Have you recently updated/ changed your iPhone account? If so you'll have to report it to apple (provide feedback) as no one here can help (tried for weeks.)

  • Can not update iphone, locks up

Everytime I try to update any of my iphones 4 they lock up with a message error at (14). I have reduced my security to almost nothing, as apple has said it may cause the problem, not the case however.

What error did you get that required a restore. You need to make sure you have a good connection to the Internet when doing an update, and if you have a Windows computer, you need to temporarily disable security software. Restart the computer before trying to connect the phone again. If you do all of that and when you connect the phone if it does not recognize it, come back.

    Hi there Benjin90,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you want to change the Apple ID that’s used to sign into the iTunes Store on your iPhone 4. The article linked below will walk you through that process and answer any related questions that you may have.

  • Can not update since you have not owned the major version of software.

The forums have multiple posts regarding the error "You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software."
Apple's solution is to archive the message without any comment or solution. Some people mention that Apple does not want people to have multiple accounts. We have multiple devices, why would we not have multiple accounts. I do not want all of my sons games on my phone. Could someone please offer a solution without deleting my post like last time.

Is this article of any help http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1495 ?
No idea why this has appeared three times

  • I can not update my phone it keeps saying error 3004 what do i do?

I can not update my phone it keeps saying error 3004 what do i do?

    Hey MarleeMason,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing error 3004 when attempting to update your iPhone. The following article addresses this error message and potential resolution:
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
    Resolve communication issues
Check the hosts file or TCP/IP filtering, which might cause communication issues between iTunes, ports, and servers.
Common errors: 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194, or 3000-3999. These alerts refer to gs.apple.com, say "There was a problem downloading the software", or say the "device isn't eligible for the requested build".
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • I can not update my Ipod Error 3194

I can not update my Ipod Error 3194

This device is not eligible for the requested build (Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194")
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

  • Can not update iTunes because I have iMac with 10.5.8 . How I will sync my iphone 6.0 with an older version of iTunes on my iMac???? There is no update for the software of my iMac and no update for the iTunes.... So how can I sync????

Can not update iTunes because I have iMac with 10.5.8 . How I will sync my iphone 6.0 with an older version of iTunes on my iMac???? There is no update for the software of my iMac and no update for the iTunes.... So how can I sync????

    Requirements for iPhone 5:
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
    iTunes 10.7 or later
The highest version of iTunes you can install is 10.6.3 which will not sync with the iPhone 5.

It's always a good idea to check the requirements before purchasing.
The person I spoke with at 1-800-MY-APPLE gave me totally different info...she said the iPhone 5 would in fact sync with the older version of iTunes and that I could restore from my previous iPhone 4 backup and also bring in my music that way.  Hmmm....
I'm inclined to go by the published specs, but now I have to jump thru a bunch of hoops I wasn't expecting to.
