Error 9006 downloading podcasts

After updating to 11.0.2 I get the error 9006 when trying to download podcasts. The files are only 80MB and have never had problems getting these files before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps a little terse... Clicking through the link, and then the link to the 9006 error brings up this:
Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.
Although in the context of podcasts it is the connection to the server hosting the podcast that matters.
Do you know which podcast is triggering this error?

  • TS2313 error message downloading podcasts in itunes

Whenever I try to download podcast episodes from iTunes I get an error message that reads: "There was a problem downloading <podcast>.  The file directory is corrupted or unreadable."  I don't understand this, because it happens with all of my podcasts.  It says check the URL connection, but the internet is fine and iTunes is working just fine.  I have previously downloaded these podcasts before without problems.  I unsubscribed and deleted all of the podcasts' content and then resubscribed, but it did not help.  What do I do?

I am marking this as answered as no-one seems to be interested. I guess I just have to be careful to run iTunes at least once a week to get all the episodes on my podcast list.

  • Yet another 8006 error when downloading podcast episodes

    Hi all,
my podcast just stopped working today. I used to have a PHP-wrapper, and all mp3-files were handled by it. This allowed me to track the number of completed downloads instead of started ones. Well, this didn't work when somebody tried to download an episode with their iPhone. Now I have changed my RSS-feed to work so that it points to a PHP-script which simply provides an HTTP 302 status and the link to the actual file.
For some reason this seems to work on everything else, incuding the iTunes app in iPhone, but iTunes on my Macbook (or anybody else's iTuneses for that matter) just give that notorious 8006 error.
URL to the feed is http://media.konsolifin.net/podcast/podcast.rss?src=itunes (That src variable is not really necessary, but I like to have it there to help me track what download channel the listeners are using.)
Anybody have any idea what could be wrong this time? Lucky thing is that since I have written the code for the whole podcast page myself, I can easily change virtually anything and also get some information about the incoming requests.

The URL given for your latest episode is
    http://media.konsolifin.net/podcast/konsolifin_podcast_bonus_track_005_joulukale nterin_ensimmainen_luukku-46-itunes.mp3
When pasted into a browser this redirects to
    http://media.konsolifin.net/podcast/mp3/konsolifin_podcast_bonus_track_005_joulu kalenterin_ensimmainen_luukku.mp3
However when subscribing iTunes appears to start downloading but then brings up an error. I don't know anything about PHP, but from various other reports it does appear that iTunes is flaky when it comes to calling media files using a script. It's really recommended to provide a direct link to the file. I understand that you want to use PHP to provide usage information, which you won't get by linking directly, but as I say it often causes problems and I'm afraid I can't offer any advice on getting round them.

  • ITunes 9 : Error after downloading Podcast and iTunesU files

    Hello,
i have actually some problem since i have upgraded iTunes to the 9.0 version.
After downloading video, or audio, files iTunes indicate a error. The message is the following " A problem as occurs during adding « File Title » to iTunes. The file may be corrupted or unreadable by iTunes. "
But the file is present in the correct destination directory (i.e.: /Users/UserName/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/iTunes U/SourceName ). But when i drag it directly to the iTunes window, the file is correctly added and perfectly readable by iTunes and perfectly synced with my iPhone.
    Best Regards,
    Dominique.

regarding that latest Apple Keynote on the new iPods ... exactly how big is that download?
I've on a narrow pipe, and thus far the Activity Monitor shows over 1.4 GB data received, on a machine that has been dedicated to doing nothing else for quite a while now. Looking at other Apple keynote videos with similar run times, this seems ridiculous, unless they are now downloading them as HD 720p videos.

  • I am getting Error = 9006 when downloading some Podcasts

I am getting Error = 9006 when downloading a podcast, Derb Radio on TakiMag, but not other podcasts.  It started occurring recently, about 3 of the last 4. This occurs on both a Windows and Apple machine.  iTunes is updated.  It does not occur with other podcasts.  Then end result is that the podcast does not download.
I also get a "rebuffering stream" interruption during playback on the computer.

  • Podcast download error=9006

    Hi there,
I'm trying to download podcast files which are suddenly all ending in an error message err=9006.
The files are about 230MB large and when the file reaches 200-210 MB the error occurs.
Downloading is done through an iMac. I checked Apple support but only found iOS suggestions.
Any ideas what could be the case??
    Cheers

Ok i think it is fixed!
i uninstalled my NOD32 virusscan. Windows Defender i disabled completly and windows firewall i set back to std settings.
This all together made it work! I don't know why cause i disabled virusscan and firewall but didn't work. When i put the firewall back on the problem was back. Then changed it to the std settings and now it can stay on!
I don't understand but it worked!

  • Receiving Error 9006 when downloading Podcast

    Hey guys,
I got an Error when trying to download Podcast: it will randomly stop downloading showing Errorcode 9006. 1 Podcast will always start from beginning when this happens and I press "retry", others will usually take of from where they stop and continue to their end.
    What I've tried so far:
    1. Reinstalled iTunes
    2. Restarted Machine
    3. Flushed Ipconfig
    4. Checked the Host file
    5. Disabled my firewall and antivirus (Kaspersky 2014)
The network and internet connection are stable and working.
    Anybody got an idea?

I was having the same error 9006 trying to download a rented movie on iTunes. I read on another board it might have something to do with Internet Explorer 8 and iTunes using the same downloader. My Explorer 8 had recently quit working but I didn't care because I use Firefox. However, I then started getting the 9006 error on iTunes. On Windows 7 you have to go to the control panel. Click on "uninstall a program", in the uninstall window go to the left column and click on "Turn Window features on or off", this will open another window with the Windows features check marked. Uncheck Internet Explorer, then restart your computer. After it restarts, go back to the uninstall programs feature again and click "Turn Window features on or off", put a check mark next to Internet Explorer and restart the computer again. This fixed the problem with Internet Explorer and iTunes started the download without any errors popping up.

  • 9006 downloading error

Help! My audio podcast cannot be downloaded completely (error=9006). Thanks.

Searching on '"error=9006" itunes' in Google throws up a number of instances of this without any clear explanation. Possible causes seem to be using a proxy, using a download accelerator, trying to download too many files at once, using an outdated version of iTunes, having a corrupted copy of iTunes, or a problem at Apple's end. If possible you could check if other people can download podcast (to find out whether the problem is with your setup): other possible actions are reinstall iTunes, contact Support, or just wait a day or so and see whether it clear up.

  • While downloading podcasts to my library, I am getting the message, "the iTunes Library file cannot be saves. An unknown error occured (-54)." Any idea of what is going on?

While downloading podcasts to my library, I am getting the message, "the iTunes Library file cannot be saves. An unknown error occured (-54)." Any idea of what is going on?
    Thanks.

The problem went away on its own. Not sure what was the problem but perhaps somehow the system was out sync internally due installing Lion 10.7.3/Snow Leopard 10.6.8/10.7/10.7.3 with iTunes 6 installing after the 10.7.3 and then needing to be installed again after the second 10.7.3 install from the updater model.
I kept accepting the error message and checking iTunes music file. No podcast downloads were actually rejected.

  • "Unable to Download Podcast" error after upgrade to iOS7 - iPhone 4S

    Hey all,
Since upgrading to iOS7 on my iPhone 4S, the Podcasts app is no longer able to download new Podcasts directly from the app. I keep getting the error "Unable to Download Podcast" with the option to Retry, which always fails. This happens on both 3G and WiFi This error applies to any of my Podcast subscriptions. It was working fine on iOS 6.1.3. I have tried deleting it and re-installing it. I've toggled the Podcast app Settings. I have an iPad 3 WiFi and I haven't had the issue.
Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi neocec!
I have a couple of suggestions for you that will help you troubleshoot this issue. First, you should try to reset the iOS device by following these instructions:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If you are still experiencing issues after attempting that troubleshooting step, you will want to restore your iOS device according to these instructions:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

Just recently getting error message when downloading podcasts.  Says "The iTunes Library file cannot be save.  You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."  Doesn't happen every time.  Using Windows 7.  What can I do?  The files seem to be there but I don't know if they are being backed up to cloud.

    Hi, DickmoAZ.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like a permission issue most likely with the iTunes Media folder.  Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot this issue.

  • Download error 9006, internet intermittent.

download error 9006.  internet intermittent. Tthis is normal for where we live, it just drops for a second and everytime it drops you have to start over with the download, is there a way to pickup where it dropped off?

traffic shaping prioritises "core" services, so web browsing and email are not affected.
P2P traffic and video sharing/downloading are the services that are often throttled (sometimes to the point where it's not usable).
all ISPs do this (even the ones that say they don't).
Sky's broadband services all do this expect for the 16MB Max LLU package which has no throttling or download limits (the 8MB services has shaping during peak times and a 40GB a month usage limit).
apple have no control over this and will give an error message that is relevant to the problem in question (ie problem downloading the file). it has no control over what throttling an ISP is doing and is unable to tell if throttling is the issue or not.
