Error -9813 on my new, pathetic iMac intel OS 10.4

Hi,
I, like many others in this forum, cannot purchase or download for free anything from the iTunes store using my new iMac intel. On older Macs, I've never had any trouble at all. I've got the latest iTunes version, the latest QuickTime version. I read somewhere something about Keychain access possibly being corrupted and tried following step by step instrux, but had to stop in the middle as the instructions stopped making sense.
The error message I get is -9813.
There is no firewall on my computer.
I've sent apple three emails. I've gotten replies back from unhelpful people who seem not to read my complaint before sending off the wrong info to me.
I really don't know what else to do.
Any thoughts from anyone else who's licked this problem??
Thanks in advance.
iMac - 2GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The following two files:
X509Anchors and X509Certificates
in /System/Library/Keychains
may be corrupted. You could use the 3rd-party utility Pacifist to extract those files from your system's install disk. But it would probably be easier (and maybe more sure to fix the problem) if you just do an "archive and install" from the install disk, being sure to select the option to preserve users. This will keep all your user files and just replace the OS X system files and applications. You should run Software Update afterwards to get your system up to date again.
You should make a backup of your user files first, just in case something goes wrong.
Hope this helps.

  • Nomad Zen Extra for Apple iMac Intel Dual C

I've looked in the FAQ, tried the download section of support, and cannot find any software for my Nomad Zen Extra to run on a new Apple iMac Intel Dual Core. The new machine uses OS X 0.4, and there seems to be nothing at all.
I also tried loading the software from the disk, and it didn't work (no surprise there since it's all Windows software).
Can anyone offer any suggestions, or do I have to go buy an Apple iPod?
    Thanks for your help.

Why wasn't I warned about this when I purchased the device? There's nothing on the packaging or inserts to point out that the device WILL NOT WORK if one switches to an Apple iMac.
The company's website is equally obscure.
I certainly expected to need new software for the iMac, but not that my Nomad was now a door-stop and wouldn't work.
How do I get my money back from Creative, given that the Good Guys store has been absorbed into Circuit City.
    I appreciate your help.

  • I have just installed a new hard drive in my imac intel 20" (2006) and now the hard drive does not show up in the 'select destinations' folder of the install program.

I have just installed a new hard drive in my imac intel 20" (2006) and upgraded the memory and now the hard drive does not show up in the 'select destinations' folder of the install program. I can see the hard drive in the disk utilities window however it wont let me do anything.
It is a seagate 1TB SATA II drive however it is displaying it as a 7.3 TB.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
I have tried to erase and partition and get the same error message each time, 'Input/Output error'.
I have tried starting the thing with the install disk which is Mac OS X (Tiger?) which came with the computer. No good.
    Anyone?

Thats correct. I can see it in the list however when I attempt to erase it or partition it it's like it's not being found or recognised and it throws up the input/output error message. I am pretty sure that the sensor it attached correctly and it is a SATA drive. I can see all the infor regarding the drive when disk utility is open and it all looks good but I cant access it or do anything with it. It's taunting me!
The install disk is in the drive and the install program runs right up to the point where you have to select the location for the install and there is just nothing in the box where you have to select the hard drive icon.
I have my suspiscions about the drive but any help would be appreciated.

  • FCE HD won't start on my brand new iMac Intel!!!

    Hello,
    Can anyone help?
I just bought a new iMac Intel 1,8Ghz - 17' and my FCE HD doen't want to start anymore...
I keep receiving an error message when its starts.
    Message says something like:
    "Software or Hardware Compatibility problem.
    --> AGP graphical card"
I downloaded the upgarde 3.0.1 form apple's website but I get a message saying that the update is not needed...
    Can anyone help, please?
    Jean-Pascal.

Hi Jean-Pascal, read this link for a workaround but be aware that FCE may not work as fast on an Intel-Mac.

You could try the last and simplest suggestion on this link first - namely just press "esc" when the error message appears.

  • Installed new iMac Intel firmware, restarted and now the computer is stuck

I installed the new iMac Firmware for my iMac Intel 1.83GHz and since restarting its been stuck on the loading screen.
I've tried inserting the restart CD/DVD and holding down C
    I've tried restarting it with OptionCommand P + N
    Still nothing, any ideas?

You want to disconnect everything possible, to limit what your iMac needs to do when it finally boots up.
According to the "What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?" article linked below, AirPort will be off during safe boot, anyway. But you'll want to turn it off, if/when available in the menu bar, to limit memory usage when you return to a normal bootup.
Is the "loading screen" you've mentioned the firmware screen? or one of the usual boot screens? Not a black screen, right? If you mean a grey startup screen with the progress indicator dial below the apple, it wasn't able to complete what it was doing due to lack of hard drive space.
We have to hope some caches will clear in the meantime, although sometimes all it takes is shutdown and startup, but that apparently did nothing for you. Now we need to count on safe boot for saving some space.
Safe boot is of critical importance to keep anything else from loading into the system and continually jamming up the memory and what little, if any, free hard drive space.

Emptying Finder trash will be necessary just to be able to open Mail. Too much stuff in Finder trash will not be able to be deleted, so if it's possible to remove something from the trash and put it on the desktop, do so until you can empty the trash, then trash one item at a time, smallest first.
Emptying Mail trash frequently will be necessary to keep each email deletion from enlarging Mail trash to a size too large to delete. Each email can be very small, which is good, as you need a place to start where deletions will be very small. It's bad from the standpoint that it'll take a while for those small deletions to add up to a decent amount of space.
One of the first larger things you can delete is the Firmware Updater if you find it in Applications/Utilities.
Coming back from a full hard drive is really just a matter of trial and error, and remembering to start small. Waiting a week is just a guess on my part. It may be that it's so locked up with the firmware install that there's nothing that would help. Then again, it may have been on the verge of booting, just needing a few extra bytes of trash to empty. What's the symbol for a "shrug?"

Call Apple's online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. For Lion you'll get a redemptions code via e-mail and need to DL from the Mac Apple Store (requires SL 10.6.6+).

  • How do I transfer contents of hard drive on PPC iMac G4 to a new quad-core Intel Core i5

Although my PPC iMac G4 still works OK, I am beginning to realise the time has probably come to get a current model in order to keep up with all the advances that have happened since I bought it about 8 years ago: I will probably get the new quad-core Intel Core i5.
As this will only be my second computer, I am wondering how I can transfer all the stuff on my hard drive onto a new computer and how easy it will be,given the apparently outdated connections on my G4 like USB 1,and possibly other things I don't know about.I am running 10.4.11.
              Any tips gratefully received.

As Allen indicates, Setup Assistant appears automatically, since you do have firewire, the transfer should be speedy, depending on how much data are on the G4.  The firewire on your G4 is FW400, your new Mac has FW800, but you can get an inexensive adaptor that will allow the connection, since the ports are different.
You don't need an external now, but I strongly advise getting one, with a drive as large or larger than your new Mac, you should clone/back up frequently, I use SuperDuper!  which will allow automatic backups.

  • All New iMac Intel ?

Heyy Everyone. I am planning to buy a new iMac Intel 17inch. I really like its new hardware/software specs but i have a couple of questions first before purchasing. I have previously used G4 and G5 iMacs now that they are intel is everything still compatible with it. In other words if a software requires a "G5 - 10.4 or more " would that work with the new iMac Intel for example? Second question, if you have one of the new intel iMacs, are you satisfied by it? Any goods and bads? Anything i need to know before purchasing? Thank you sooo much guys!

MS Office is none the wiser that it is running in emulation with Rosetta. PPC programs usually either run in Rosetta, or they don't. Plus, a trial version of MS Office for the Mac is included on your Install disks, so you can try it without buying it!
If you get a PPC program that won't open at all, which will be the rare exception, it is just one of the ones that won't! (You can even make Universal programs run in Rosetta in case you wish to use a PPC plugin with it, but that's another story.)
Bootcamp will be integrated in the next OS X upgrade 10.5, so for now it is an add-on for 10.4.6, and they are still ironing out any of the bugs, hence Beta. It works fine. I had no problems installing it. Win XP Pro SP2 runs fine. I only did it for curiosity and to see if I could do it. I succeeded! I hate Windows, really have no use for it. I have been drinking the Apple Kool-Aid since 1984. Only used Windows at work, when I was forced to. There are those here in the Discussions who would know, who say it runs on the Intel Macs faster than it ever did on another manufacturers PC. Kind of adds new meaning to the Apple advertisement, "What's an Intel chip doing in a Mac? A whole lot more than it's ever done in a PC."

  • Generation 4 iPod Connection to new iMac intel core 2 duo

Okay, first of all heres all my technical information:
-new iMac Intel Core 2 Duo
-Gen 4 iPod, non color diplay
    -running iTunes 7.0.2
-sadly, no iPod power brick(although i think i need it to solve the problem)
Okay, now to the problem, I tried to connect the iPod to my new iMac, and it worked after leaving it alone for 15 minutes. It is formated to windows and i wanted the music to stay on it, so i disconnected it. Afterward i just thought, screw it, and connected it hoping to restore it, but it never showed up in iTunes or the finder. I thought this was odd, then i looked at the iPod and it displayed a image of a iPod power brick going into an outlet. i havent been able to get to the apple store and thought there must be an easier way to do this, so i went to get the old install disc for my iPod that came with it. Hoping this would finally work, i tried to run the package installer for the iPod to install the drivers, and it displayed(after it evaluated my comp) "Cannot be installed on this computer, missing Mac OSX Networking Update" I've looked all over the Downloads area of the Apple site and havent been able to find it. Can someone please help me!?!

I have the new 24" flat screen imac and a new IPOD video. I was using the ipod on an old mac with 10.4 and it was working ok with a few sync issues. But when I tried it with the new mac I get very bad results. Itunes hangs and I need to do a hard power reset. Then the ipod once hung up and I had to do a restore on my old mac. Still have not successfully used the ipod with the new mac.
    my system is the following
    Machine Name: iMac

  • What is the best CD and DVD to use with my new iMac Intel?

Guys, please help. I am not great on the computers and need a bit of help and advice. Just brought a brand new iMac Intel G5. This is to replace my older but much loved iMac G4, which is very simple to use. Have had nothing but trouble with the new one which was especially brought to copy CD's and DVD's and to have a good play with. After much head scratching have just been told by Apple help desk that the new intels may not like CD-R. These disks worked fine on my old Mac, brought a new pack (100). I can copy information and burn to these disks using Disk Utility. BUT they can only be read on the Intel iMac, not on my old mac or PC at work. This is only simple word and pdf files, nothing complicated. Copying and burning DVD's even more of a nightmare. What makes and formats do you recommend that I use? I can copy to DVD+R. Your advise would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Townie1978

Thats the full spec of my iMac Intel duo core, plus added memory. As per the sellers website. The bit about the superdrive is pure fantasy. Have tried to copy and burn to DVD -R, +R and -RW all go through the motions and keep you in suspense. Then you put the disc in another player and disc not recognised. Really, really upset by this.

  • I have a Free Agent external backup hard drive connected to my iMac Intel desktop via USB.  Why do I get an error message, from time to time, upon startup stating: "disk was disconnected improperly, always eject disk before disconnecting"?

I have a Free Agent external backup hard drive connected to my iMac Intel desktop via USB, I never unplug it.  Why do I get an error message, from time to time, upon startup stating, "Disk was disconnected improperly.  Always eject disk before disconnecting."?

I never unplug the external harddrive, and the error message comes up only occassionaly upon startup.  Maybe the USB connection gets disrupted enough to cause the computer to see it as disconnected and then reconnected while the iMac is powered.

  • IMovie HD won't boot up on new iMAC Intel machine

I just bought a new IMac Intel DP and completed the SW updates. Opened iMovie HD and created a new project. The program started to open but gets hung up when loading the "new movie" (which doesn't exist yet) and state loading "saved thumbnails" - this is the first time that I've opened the program. iMovie doesn't get past the loading "new movie" and never fully opens. I've tried reloading the software and rebooting the computer to n avail. Any ideas?

Well, folks, I trolled further, and found the answer further down on this Forum. The solution below worked for me:

OK after reading the other post I have the Workaround/Fix
In my case it was caused by migrating my old account data from my old Mac to my new Intel iMac and using the preinstalled version of iLife 06...specifically iMovie hanging while loading thumbnails with a minute remaining....forever.
The problem files are in the /User/~yourusername/Library/FontCollections folder. I moved that folder out to the trash and iMovie starts up without a problem. iMovie recreated the FontCollections folder with the files it requires. Hope this helps everyone.

Is there a way to convert .cwk text files I saved from my iMac PPC so I can view them on my new iMac (intel chip)? I get a message when I try to open them now that says PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
