Error -9813?

Every time I try to log-in to my iTunes account, this message shows up: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-9813). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."
I've even tried to create a new account, because my e-mail address has changed, but the same error shows up.
I went to the Apple store today (looking to get an iPod Touch) and I asked them about it. They told me to update my iTunes, and if that didn't work, deauthorize, then authorize my account. But, when I tried to deauthorize my account, it said that either my password or username was invalid. I know that my username is valid, and I even changed my password a few times, so I know it's correct.
What should I do? Because I'm getting the iPod Touch for the videos, and I'm going to need my iTunes store to get the videos..

I, too, have been receiving that same error message and error return code. I, too, have a valid network correction. I can listen to the music samples all day, but when I log into the store to buy a tune it fails with the "... unknown error occured (-9813)". Its irritating that iTunes runs fine on both my Windows computers.

  • Unknown error -9813;  no downloading allowed!

    This is getting very tiresome.
I rarely use iTunes-and I use the store even less.
But I found a song I wanted to download and went and opened the ITMS.
when I click on a song, and then try to log in, I get an "unknown error -9813-make sure you have a network connection" well, since i AM in ITMS-I must have a network connection, yes?
If I try to open a new account-same error.
To top it off, I decided to play one of the 5 songs I had in my library, and guess what- not available!
So I go into user/documents/iTunes...hey,wait a minute! there IS no iTunes folder with library inside!
I rather doubt that I trashed the folder, so Im willing to bet that iTunes 6 or 6.01 did it. grrrr.....
I have QT 7.03, ive trashed .plists and did a permissions/keychain repair. nothing.

As you know about permissions repair and suchlike I will guess that you have searched for files (or iTunes Library) on your computer or external HD (mine is on an external drive) to determine whether your library has in fact disappeared altogether.
I used to lose random music files on a fairly regular basis back in iTunes 4 and before but I have found that since version 5 things have been very stable.
Go to the Itunes preferences and click on the advanced cog wheel to see where it thinks your library is located. If it finds the library follow the path displayed... but if it isn;t there I'm not sure what to suggest apart from searcihng for individual music files... Search for m4p files to locate recent purchases.

  • Error 9813 when I try to authorize my tracks

Is there a problem with authorizing more than two accounts of purchased music on one computer? My brother's music is already authorized but when I added my purchased music and attempt to play them, I try to log in but get the error 9813. I wasn't sure if this was just a biproduct of the technical issues the store has been having today or not. Any help would be appreciated.

  • ITunes error -9813

I updated to the iTunes 8.2 (23) and then tried to update my iPhone to OS 3.0. The OS didn't install so my phone doesn't work and when I connect it to iTunes I get the following error:
We could not complete your iTunes Store request.
    An unknown error occurred (-9813).
There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later.
I also get this message if I try to view my account. I read that this has to do with the keychain and have already tried resetting and repairing the keychain but it did not help. Any suggestions?

The "Error 9813" alert occurs when there is an issue with the root certificate in a Keychain. Root certificates are stored in a system keychain located at :
    /System/Library/Keychains/X509Anchors
These roots are used by Mac OS X system software to evaluate trust for secure web connections, secure e-mail, and other PKI interactions.
There are a few possible resolutions for this issue:
    1. Quit iTunes, open Safari, and choose Empty Cache from the Safari Menu. Return to the iTunes Store and test to see if the issue is resolved,
    2. Copy the "X509Anchors SystemRootCertificates.keychain", and "SystemCACertificates.keychain" files from another computer running the exact same version of Mac OS X as your computer, restart, and test.
    3. Reinstall Mac OS X on your computer.

  • Problem buying song: Error -9813

I have been using iTunes for a while but never purchased a song. Recently I have tried several times to buy a song and keep getting an Apple Store error 9813.
Has the iTunes store been having problems or is it something I am doing. I know my password is right since I was able to log into this forum.

Don't know if it will solve the problem, but I found this link:

  • What is "error 9813?"

I am new to downloading podcasts. Each time I try, I get the error message "9813" which says the problem is with I Tunes. Can anyone help?? Thanks.

Other forums on various websites seem to suggest this is a keychain error.
This post offers suggestions for 10.3; not sure if it works in 10.4, but definitely not 10.5

  • Can't sign in to iTunes or download music "Unknown Error (-9813)"

Every time I try to sign into iTunes to download music I get the following message:
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-9813)"
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and that didn't help....

My nephew is having the same issue as of today. Opens iTunes 8.0.2, clicks Sign In. Tried to create a new account, got the unknown error -9813.
We created an AppleID through the website (that only worked in Firefox, not in Safari 3.2.1) and then clicked sign in. We entered his info, same thing, error -9813.
He's on an iMac running 10.4.11.
I'm going to say this is a bug or recent issue.

  • Error -9813 when trying to log in to Store, or download free podcasts

I've tried connecting to the iTunes Store from 2 different machines (a G5 at work, and a G4 laptop on cablemodem at home). When trying to download some of the free podcasts, it says "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error ocurred (-9813). Any ideas on how to fix this?

  • Can't Download Anything : Error (-9813)

I recently got high speed internet at home (finally)... and have attempted to subscribe to various podcasts and download other free content. When I try this I get a message that says: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error ocurred. (-9813)" This also happens when I attempt to log in to view my iTunes account. I have no idea how to get around this. Any help would be splendid...

I saw this error on another forum and people said it was fixed by running Keychain First Aid
    Try this:
Go to the Utilities Folder: Applications - > Utilities
    Open "KeyChain Access"
from the Keychain Access Menu select "Keychain First Aid" and choose "Repair".
Try running that and see if it works. I don't know what keychains have to do with it, but I saw a lot of people fixing this 9813 error by running keychain first aid
    Hope this helps!

  • Error -9813 on my new, pathetic iMac intel OS 10.4

    Hi,
I, like many others in this forum, cannot purchase or download for free anything from the iTunes store using my new iMac intel. On older Macs, I've never had any trouble at all. I've got the latest iTunes version, the latest QuickTime version. I read somewhere something about Keychain access possibly being corrupted and tried following step by step instrux, but had to stop in the middle as the instructions stopped making sense.
The error message I get is -9813.
There is no firewall on my computer.
I've sent apple three emails. I've gotten replies back from unhelpful people who seem not to read my complaint before sending off the wrong info to me.
I really don't know what else to do.
Any thoughts from anyone else who's licked this problem??
    Thanks in advance.
    iMac - 2GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    The following two files:
    X509Anchors and X509Certificates
    in /System/Library/Keychains
may be corrupted. You could use the 3rd-party utility Pacifist to extract those files from your system's install disk. But it would probably be easier (and maybe more sure to fix the problem) if you just do an "archive and install" from the install disk, being sure to select the option to preserve users. This will keep all your user files and just replace the OS X system files and applications. You should run Software Update afterwards to get your system up to date again.
You should make a backup of your user files first, just in case something goes wrong.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't authorize computer - error -9813

    Sigh.
    I can't authorize a mac mini (non intel) running OS X 10.4.11
    The error I get is:
"We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred (-9813). There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later."
This began yesterday with iTunes 7, and has carried through to 8 (installed today). I've tried the usual (repair permissions, trash prefs files), all to no avail.

I have had the same problem going on for a long time now....extremely frustrated...would call apple, but i don't use the phone...ever..
i have found numerous forum threads on the same exact problems and they all point to root certificates it seems. i have reset keychain, but that didn't work.
at least its preventing me from spending money...
    please someone help us.

  • Cant connect to itunes store. unknown error -9813

i have an itunes account and cannot log on, it continues to give me this message. itunes could not connect to the itunes store. An unknown error occured (-9813). It has nothing to do with the network because me and my roomate use the same one and it works fine on his computer.

You could try to solve the problem by repairing the Keychains.
Run Keychain Access (./Applications/Utilities), choose 'Keychain First Aid' from the Keychain Access menu, click 'Repair' and 'Start'. If that fails, go to the Keychain preferences>General and click 'Reset My Keychain'
Reading other posts the above does not often seem to work.
More successful is replacing the involved files by the same ones from another computer.
If your roommate also has a Mac, copy the 'X509Anchors' and 'X509Certificates' files from ./System/Library/Keychains from his/her computer to your computer.
If not available, try to locate another Mac and ask the user to donate the files.
If this trick doesn't work either, do an Archive and Install. This will cost you some time and it may be necessary to re-install some non-Apple applications, but will (almost) certainly fix the problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • Error -9813 when accessing itunes store

I get an error message when I try to access itunes store and I can't find any info about this error message -9813?

    All
I have been having issues connecting to the iTunes store for over a week now , Error code -50 and some error message in spanish , after some messing about i renamed all itunesprefs files to iTunesprefs.old main one located "C:\Documents and Settings\Account name\Local Settings\Application Data". this makes itunes reset all it prefs but does not delete any music or vids . i then restarted itunes and bobs your uncle straight in and working again .
    in summary :
rename all iTunesprefs files either xml or other
remane them to .old so you have them if you need to go back
    restart itunes or reboot
itunes will think your a new user but does not require a re sync
    and should be fixed
i am not responsible for any errors you create by messing it up.
it has worked for me on Win xp pro ver9 (latest version) itunes .
