Error 997

For reasons unknown to me, CFMX Server service won't start
(had been auto-starting fine for years). When I attempt to start
it, I get "Error 997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress."
I've not installed any new programs since the server last worked
fine, and I find no solution from a Google search on this. Can
anyone offer suggestions?

Sorry, but I'm not sure how to run CF as an application. I
assume you are referring to a command line, but I can't find a path
to jrun.exe. Can you help?
CF server is supposed to start automatically with machine
boot, but doesn't, and I can't start it manually from services.
As far as OS updates, Windows XP performs automatic updates
(annoyingly frequently).
Since I can't start CF, I can't tell you exactly which
version of CFMX I have, but it's older. It shipped with Dreamweaver
MX version 6.0.
Thanks in advace for your help.

  • Overlapped I/O error 997 installing SQL Server 2014 Express on Windows Server 2012 R2

I'm attempting to install SQL Server 2014 Express on a Windows Server 2012 R2 system. When I do the install, it fails (several times) with an "Error: 997. Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.". From searching the web, I can see many people
have had this problem with this installer and other non-SQL server installers.
I've tried every solution I can find discussed, but none help with my problems The system is fully updated, with the exception of the KB2538243 (VC 2008 SP1 redist), which is probably failing for the same reason.
I've tried removing several updates mentioned in other articles (KB2918614). I've confirmed that I'm not using a temporary profile.
Does anyone have an idea of how I can solve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Zack

    Alberto,
Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I've already tried that. I did try it again and I get an "This update is not applicable to your computer."
I tried to post the Windows Update log, but it was too large. I've posted some of it below.

  • Error 997. Overlapped I/O operation is in progress during SQL Server 2014 X64 Express

I am trying to install SQL Management Studio from SQL Server 2014 X64 Express, however during installation, getting multiple identical errors:
Error 997. Overlapped I/O operation is in progress
Previously, someone posted similar question http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vsnetsetup/archive/2014/10/27/error-997-overlapped-i-o-operation-is-in-progress-kb2918614-breaks-windows-installer-service.aspx It was suggested to uninstall: KB3000988, KB2918614, I did so,
but it didn't help. Also, tried to modify registry to add "product code" using ORCA tool. Maybe, I used wrong codes ? Thank you !

    Hi Alexander,
According to your description, you encounter the error 997 when installing SQL Server 2014 Management Studio. This issue could be due to the account problem or third-party software scanning. Besides paSQuaLe's post, you could also check the following things.
    1. Check the account with which you log on to the server, make sure that it is not an account with temporary profile.
    2. Run SQL Server setup file locally on your computer and make sure that you choose ‘Run as administrator’ to run the setup.
    3. Disable any Anti-virus and reboot your server.
    4. Check for any problems with disk drive where you are installing SQL Server files.
    Regards,
    Michelle Li

  • KB2918614: Error 997.Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.

During the installation of some programs we suddenly get the error 'Error 997.Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.'. These programs always installed without any problems. After searching the internet we found several references to KB2918614 and that
the problems could be solved by uninstalling KB2918614 . Our programs also could be installed again when we removed the update KB2918614 (Vulnerability in Windows Installer Service Could Allow Elevation of Privilege (2962490)).
Has anyone experienced this also, what causes it and is there another solution then uninstalling the update KB2918614.
    W. Spu

    Hi,
Have you tried other MSI installer like what I mentioned in my previous post, 7-zip or Firefox?
I also tried to install the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime with no issue. This issue happened depending on some certain situation I think.
Need more time to determine, and till now, you may have to remove this update and wait for further released.

Judging by the error message I would say the setup is trying to access a network share that is no longer available to the node due to the failover. How many instances are installed in each node?
Open resource monitor and, in the disk section, check which files are being accessed by I/O threads. See if there are any files in use that the SP2 installer would supposedly try to access.
If possible, save the resource monitor results, failback the instance, and check disk usage in the other node to try to detect any abnormal disk access.

  • Exchange contacts "The operation couldn't be completed. (SOAPWebServicesErrorDomain error -997.)"

I was first having some issues with the notes app and my exchange notes (office 365). It keep saying the password was incorrect and would ask for a new one even though I would enter the correct password. In trying to fix this, I tried removing my exchange account from "Internet Accounts" in System Preferences. I removed all contacts, email, notes etc when I did this.
Upon adding the exchange account again, my mail, notes, and calendar appear to be working, but none of the contacts in my main exchange contacts folder are appearing and when I click the ! triangle icon beside my exchange account in Contacts, it says "The operation couldn't be completed. (SOAPWebServicesErrorDomain error -997.)"
This is occurring on Early 2013 MBP 13" Retina as well as my Mid 2011 21" iMac. Both are running Yosemite 10.10.1

    Same issue here.

and then reinstalled KB2918614 again.  I tried contacting Microsoft, but they want money.  So, what is there left to try?

We are running an Oracle 9i r2 DB on Windows 2000 (Active Directory). We recently encountered a problem when starting the external procedure listener service using a domain ID.

  • ERROR 1058 WHEN starting INFRASTRUCTURE

I am using Portal and Infrastructure 10g
    metadatabase ASDB is 9.0.x
In order to use Oraacle Warehouse Builder(OWB) i had to have a 10.1 level runtime DB.
So I installed 10g oracle database and kept one listener at that level (10.1). Infrastructure listener has been deactivated.
Listener.ora and tsnames .ora where updated on INFRAstructure instance to be nearly identical to 10g DB instance (diference is one db definition)
However starting infrastructure and portal instances has become erratic and error prone:u
It takes about 20 minutes to start these two instances by hand has before i had only to start them and everything went smoothly (but took also a long time).
Now i get the following messages and have to use following opmnctl commands to have the whole thing running as follows:
    ==> start INFRASTRUCTURE
    lancement de tnslsnr: veuillez patientez...
failed to start service, error 1058 ==> new message

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
*Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Listener file error

    Hi ,
How can we solve the issue if an error as below is shown when the listener is started.,
    TNS-12541: TNS:no listener
    TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
    TNS-00511: No listener
I know that we can do a try with the ip instead of host in the listener file , if this doesn't solve the problem, what should be done,
Could someone point me the details to solve the issue.
Any help will be really usefull.
    Thnx,
