Error AFTER Quitting iTunes

Whenever I intentionally quit iTunes I get the "iTunes Unexpectedly Quit" message. No harm done, but it's annoying. This is with 7.1.1 and a few previous versions. Any ideas?

ahhhh. by any chance do you have an old version of a Volume Logic plug-in installed on that Mac?
(versions that would work for iTunes 6.0.x could produce your symptoms on iTunes 7.0.0.70 or higher.)
if you've got volume logic (or other old plug-ins), perhaps try the following document:

42404 error after downloading itunes (20+ times!) can access the itunes store but can't do any downloads... itunes support has not offered any valid suggestions

This is EXACTLY what happened to me and many others. Tech support returned most of my money but not all of it. Figure that one out! It is clear no music is downloaded (or in queue), it is clear an unknown error message is produced, and it is clear we, the consumer, are still being charged anyway. Will Apple require a credit card from its customers and alienate those that do not wish to use a credit card? Will Apple insult its customers and make silly suggestions such as 'Use an iTunes gift card' in much the same way a forum moderator has already recommended?
I have an idea: Acknowledge the problem publicly (via email, for example) and fix it in a future update. Customers will be more understanding if they know there is a temporary problem and Apple is working hard to fix it. Oh, and return our money, please!

  • After quitting itunes reopens... what the..

err.. yes indeed.. its true, after quitting itunes it reopens itself a few seconds later.. oh it was fine til i upgraded it to 7.7 this morning.. please advise

Try deleting the iTunes preferences file. Quit iTunes. Go to User Name>Library>Preferences. Find the file com.apple.iTunes.plist and trash it. Open iTunes again and it will look like you're opening it for the first time. Also if you use the iTunes widget or any widget that has to do with iTunes, close it.

  • DEP error after installing itunes 10.5

I have updated my laptop running Windows XP Home Edition with all the latest Microsoft updates and then updated itunes to 10.5 so that I could update my ipad 2 to ios5.  After updating itunes, I cannot open the software.  It gives me the data execution prevention box saying that itunes cannot be opened.  I click on the details and it gives me event type: BEX for itunes.exe.  I have researched everywhere on the web and tried everything suggested and still get the same error.  I have now uninstalled itunes 10.5 and found an old itunes 9.4 that I installed.  I get an error opening saying that some windows components are not compatible and run the appleitunes.bat file to register dlls.  That didn't help.  I am at my wits' end!!!!  What is causing this error?  If I completely turn off DEP, I get an error that the progam cannot be opened and each time it gives me a different dll file in the details.  Does anyone at Apple or other know a fix for this?

  • Svchost.exe errors after installing iTunes 7.0.1.8

I have two computers that starting throwing svchost.exe errors immediately after installing iTunes 7. First it happened on my desktop. In preparation to reinstall Windows XP on my desktop, I prepared my laptop to use while my desktop was out of commision. I installed iTunes 7 and immediately I started getting svchost.exe errors. I don't have the blaster worm on either machine (already checked). My desktop is behind three firewals, runs Norton, and I already did a full virus scan on both.
This is causing significant problems as my computer can't see the network, outlook can wig out, and in general my machine is unpredicatable. I hate to think that installing iTunes 7.0 leads to the need to reinstall Windows. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate any help.

I changed my "Startup Type" for "Terminal Services" from "Disabled" to "Manual". Resolved issue.

  • Getting unknown error after upgrading iTunes (-3212)

Has anyone else gotten this error after last upgrade?  I only get it when trying to connect to the store and it says it check my internet connection and try again.  I have an internet connection and I've tried repairing/reinstalling iTunes.

I am having the exact same problem. I checked what version of Airpot Utility I am using and it is 6.3.
I checked for any updates and there was one for Front Row. The update said it would fix problems with ITunes also. But still no luck.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

  • Audio Configuration error after installing iTunes 7.1.1

    STEPS:
    1. Launch previous version of iTunes, verify application opens.
    2. Agree to upgrade to latest version of iTunes.
    3. After installation, restart PC and launch application.
    EXPECTED RESULT:
    iTunes 7.1.1 launches
    ACTUAL RESULT:
iTunes does not launch; error "iTunes cannot be run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration" is generated.
    NOTES:
I changed nothing between when I last launched iTunes and when I upgraded to the new version. This error message is quite vague - does anyone have any clue what it means? Thanks.

that's typically caused by a problem with your QuickTime. (itunes uses QuickTime for audio and video playback.)

  • IPod error after updating iTunes

I just updated to the latest version of iTunes on my PC. I purchased music, it downloaded and showed up in the library but when i connect my iPod to load the music on there I get an error message saying "The iPod cannot be synched. An unknown error has occured (-48.)" I have tried adjusting the settings to auto synch and manual but nothing is working. The songs will appear on the iPods playlist on my computer but when I disconnect the are not actually on the iPod itself. Has anyone else had this trouble?

I'm having that problem tonight. Anyone else with this issue??? Any known remedies?
Currently, it's stuck in eternal synching (transferring purchases from my iPod) and after an hour I receive the "iPod cannot be synched". Grrrrrr.... i'd hate to restore the iPod, if it's not necessary.

  • Program Error after recent itunes update - please help

I recently upgraded to the latest version of iTunes. Now it won't open. I have been through the revcommended options and still no joy.
The Program Error states "iTunes.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."
I have removed the programs and reinstalled them as recommended and Still nothing! (I think ) I subsequently lost also my Pro version of Quick Time which I paid for.
I cant up date my iPod.
Please can you help me out?
It was working fine before upgrade...

I have removed the programs and reinstalled them as recommended and Still nothing! (I think ) I subsequently lost also my Pro version of Quick Time which I paid for.
is your QuickTime currently launching? if so, try retrieving your Pro Key using the information from the following document:

  • Dotmacsyncclient.exe - Entry Point Not Found error after updating iTunes

    Here is the error message:
The entry point SQLite3filecontrol could not be found in the library SQLite3.dll
Following the last update of iTunes on my PC (running Windows 7 x64), I'm getting the same error message again and again. It's not specific to an action that I perform, It is not appearing at regular intervals.
I could not find any solution on these boards yet. Here is the few things I have already tried to fix the issue :
    - Download SQLite3.dll and copy it into C:\Windows\System32
    Didn't fix anything
    - Copy that dll file from the iTunes folder location like by entering the following command into a command prompt :
    xcopy "%ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\sqlite3.dll" %windir%\system32 /y
    Didn't fix anything
I have not tried to reinstall iTunes because I think that I've read some people saying that it did not helped.
Last info, I am using MobileMe. Don't know if it is related.
Anyway It would be nice if someone could throw some ideas on this thread.
    Thanks

Since Apple apparently doesn't know what a Windows-based PC IS, I'll throw you folks a bone...
If you're getting the error with SQLite3.dll, do a search for the file... grab the one out of the Common Files folders and put it into C:\Windows\SysWoW64\ folder.
    Reboot and voila.
I just did that on this machine and the issue hasn't reappeared. Can't guarantee it'll work for you, but it appears to have for me.

  • Error after install iTunes setup: Apple application Support was not found

    Hello,
I am trying to install iTunes on my pc. During the downloading of iTunes setup.exe i get this error:
Something went wrong during the installation of this item. Microsoft. VC80.CRT, type="win32", version="8.0.5072.7.6195", publicKeyToken="lfrc8b3b9a1e18e3b",process or Architecture=x86"
I choose 'ok' and the download continues. When the download is complete and i try to open the iTunes setup its given the error saying:
Apple Application Support was not found
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunesHelper. Please uninstall iTunes then install iTunes again.
I tried this more than once, but its not working. I also tried to extract the iTunes setup.exe with winrar and then to do an install with appleapplicationsupport.msi, but its given the same error.
    Anyone please has some advice?
    Thanks in advance!
    Marieke

When I look at my control panel the only program that shows is "I Tunes".  No other supporting programs are showing up in the control panel nor the Common Files nor in the Program Files (x86).
That's an extreme case of this.
We'll try doing standalone installations of all the supporting programs.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install.
Doubleclick the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi to do a standalone Apple Software Update install.
Doubleclick the Bonjour.msi (or Bonjour64.msi) to do a standalone Bonjour install.
Do those four installs go through okay? If so, does your iTunes launch without any errors now?

  • Apple pls fix this - MS Visual C++ Runtime error after installing itune 9.1

Ever since I upgraded itune to the latest version 9.1, I kept getting the error messasge below when I start up the computer. Tried restoring system to a previous date, and uninstalling & installing itune a couple times to no avail. Any idea what's going on and how to fix this? I had to remove itune to be able to use my computer (ugh). The irony is that the itune upgrade was mainly to enable ipad. Now that I have my ipad I can't use itune.
    The error message reads:
'MS Visual C++ Runtime Error' - 'Runtime Error'
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the support team for further assistnace.

Some people have reported that Apple Software Update can cause this error, so you might try removing that and see if it helps. Removing that utility should not affect iTunes, though you won't get automatic updates (you can just download any new version of iTunes or QuickTime manually and install it). It would, however, be wise to make a backup of any purchased content or items that would otherwise be difficult to replace, just in case something goes wrong during the removal.
