Error After Router Reset?

Well, we had a weird power surge, and for some reason, when I went to go on the internet, it said no connection. I opened the Linksys program, but when I did that, it said configure a router :/ So, I go through all the steps, but now I get stuck at it saying that it is only used to configure Linksys Routers (which mine is), and it says that it isn't. I cannot find the installation CD which it directs me to use, so am I screwed? ^^;

The installation CD is probably needed , the one that came with the router new.
Try to reset the router to factory settings.
Its a little button in the back.
Please buy a surge protector power strip for your computer/accessories if you don't have one now.
I hope this helps you.

  • No Remote DVR After Router Reset

Remote DVR was working fine,  then after router reset it no longer works.
This is very poor system design.
    Rebooted DVR - No joy.
Can ping DVR so know it is on the network
DVR Self Diag passes all test and listener 1 is started
FiOS TV Central Error Message: "There was an error while processing your request.  Please try again later."
Router has TCP port 35000 forwarded to DVR port 8082 (192.168.1.100:8082)
before reset it was UDP port 63145 forwarded to DVR (192.168.1.100)
Did I already mention this is very poor system design.

One other thing you can try.
    Unplug the dvr from power
    Power cycle the router
Once the router comes back up, then plug the DVR back in
When the DVR boots back up, supposedly the rules for the remote dvr will be reloaded into the router. Sounds strange but I've been told it works.

  • Nokia E7-00 system error after hard reset

Hi Guys I did a hard reset on my phone today as my phone would freeze at times but it seems that it has given me new problems
Firstly, Everytime I restart the phone, the system error message comes up on the homescreen, I would click ok but it comes up 3 or 4 more times
Secondly, I cannot access my contacts at all, whether I try accessing it  from the menu or from a shortcut I have on the homescreen.
I have tried to solve this myself...
I have re-installed the phone software after doing the hard reset,
I have restored my phone from the backup I did,
and I have rebooted the phone a few times but I still get the same thing
The software is Symbian Anna, I understand that there is a Belle update but it is not yet available for the phone that is on the network that I am on (which is network Three)
I have had this phone since september 2011 and it is under warranty. This is the first time I have encountered a problem.
Other than that, everything else works fine; I can install apps and make calls and use the internet etc. I just want to get rid of the system error message, and have access to contacts without having to send the phone off for repair!

The issue could also be caused by the restore ? I never do a full backup and restore when doing a reset as the restore may apply settings/data that caused an issue. My advice would be to backup Calendar, Contacts and Notes ONLY. Dial*#7370# followed by 12345, if required, then re-install the latest firmware using Nokia Suite. After this restore your contacts etc, then set up the phone manually, hopefully this would resove any issues, bit of a pain, but should work !!
    Good Luck

  • Unable to connect to internet after router reset

    Hi,
Am in need of some urgent help please - my MacBook Pro is unable to connect to the internet following a reset and reboot of my Belkin54g router.
Last week I was following some troubleshooting instructions to get my new Vodafone Sure Signal booster to work and it gave some instructions to alter settings in the router's IP configuration - all of a sudden I lost wireless connectivity on both my MacBook Pro & my Dell Laptop.
Last night I spoke to my ISP and they talked me through re-setting the router's settings and now the laptop is back up abd running and fully connected to the wireless and internet.
However, my MacBook Pro appears to detect the wireless, but not the internet connection. I asked the ISP to help but they said they would not help with resetting wireless settings on Macs.
So now i am stuck and don't know what to do. Please, please, please help.
    Thank you!

    Hi
I am having the same problem - all of a sudden from my wireless router I am seeing and connecting to the router but not the internet. I have checked to see if I am getting am IP address from the router and it seems that I am not.
If I connect with the old fashioned wire, it works fine.
    Thanks in advance...

  • Network Settings After Router reset

My telephone switchboard had a fault (unknown to me) which made my ADSL Router interfere with my telephone. Initially I suspected that my router was faulty and went through a sequence of checks to isolate the problem. this included resetting the router to its factory settings. The switchboard problem having been fixed, the interference from the router ceased (the router was not the problem) and I proceeded to reconnect to my ISP but could not do so. The router gave solid DSL and Ethernet lights and I appeared to be connected but I could not open any pages in Safari. In desperation, I booted from my external hard drive; I was able to connect straight away and was able to reset my ADSL username and password. However, this only works on my external boot drive. When I re-boot using my internal drive I am unable to open any pages in Safari. It appears that something in my Network settings (?) on my main drive has been corrupted, but I cannot work out what (It is not Safari as that worked okay when I was booted from the external drive). Could it be my Network Preference Pane? How should I proceed?

Andy, many thanks for your input. I had already done what you suggested but tried it again. Diagnostics could not isolate the problem. The only difference in behaviour was that during the diagnostics process the 'Ethernet' light flashed at about 5 second intervals. Prior to using the diagnostics tool all 3 lights were steady and the Network preferences panel stated that I was connected to the Internet on built-in ethernet. When I open Safari, however, I get the dialogue box that I am not connected to the Internet and offered Network Diagnostics.
This is why I believe that my problem is a faulty Start-up item or extension (does OSX have 'extensions'?) but I do not know how to identify where the fault lies. I have searched my systems using Spotlight in an attempt to find a Network or Internet related file with a recent modification date but this has drawn a blank. Frankly, I think that there are just too many files for this approach to work. I guess that I can try replacing likely sounding files one by one, but I am afraid of making the problem worse by this approach.
Thanks again for your comments, but I remain open to any new approaches to solving my problem.

  • Airport Extreme in extender mode does not reconnect after main router reset.

I have an Airport Extreme 4th Gen (extender). set to extend the signal from an Airport Extreme 5th Gen (main).  Whenever the main router resets (after reconfig, etc) the extender does not reconnect.  I would have to restart the extender before it will connect again to the network.  However, my Airport Express set to extend will automatically reconnect.  Is this a settings issue?  Please advise.

Ok, well I am hoping you are not doing a re-config of your 5'th gen all the time? This should only be done very rarely... we're talking like less than once a year for many people.  Unless there's something else going on there, I wouldn't worry about it if you have to power-cycle the 4'th gen once in a few blue moons.

  • WRT1900AC - 2118 Error on Router Settings and Firmware Update

I bought a WRT1900AC in June and it has worked great. I was able to configure it fine after buying it with no problems. I wanted to make an update recently so I logged in and found that I couldn't access the router settings. When I tried I would get an error 2118.
At first I only got the error when clicking on "Connectivity" but was able to access "Troubleshooting". I powered off/on the router and everything still worked at this point except I was now getting the error on all router setting options Connectivity, Troubleshooting, firmware update msg that would display at the top of the admin panel. I tried more reboots/resets and nothing error error error.
I contacted Linksys support and after being on the phone ALL day they deteremined that the router must be defective. I brought the router back to best buy and they gave me a new one. Now I bring this one home and right out of the box the msg I get is "Your router was not successfully setup" and the error at the bottom is error 2118. I have tried rebooting/resetting and I can never get past this screen. After a reset I have tried to choose to configure manually and am able to login to the admin panel but I get the exact same error as with the original one error 2118 on any of the Router setting options and again it is displaying that there is a firmware upgrade available but I get the error 2118 and I click on "update". I have even followed the instructions on trying to use TFTP to update the firmware but all I get is "Unable to get a response from the server".
Right now the status is my internet works and my wireless works but only with the orginal network name and password since I can't change it.
FYI - Tech support kept pointing to my browser but I have tried from several devices and same issue.
    Tried from:
    winxp - IE8, firefox, chrome
    windows7 - ie, firefox
    ubuntu 12.04 - firefox
    ubuntu 10.04 - firefox
Cleared caches and rebooted on all and same issue on all. My last linksys router went 7years 0 problems, ah man this sucks if anyone can help I would be grateful.

Thank you so much for replying.
    Working from win7 IE11
    -windows firewall disabled
    -antivirus software firewall disables
    -disabled anitvirus software
    -disabled  browser security add-ons
-cleared browser cache & ran ccleaner
-added linksyssmartwifi.com and 192.168.1.1 to compatibility view
tried accessing linksyssmartwifi.com and am getting "Your router was not successfully setup"
tried steps when connected from wifi or LAN Port 1
Have tried the same steps but selected to configure manually so I could login with local access. I can access any of the Smart Wifi Tools but I can't access anything under "Router Settings' ie: Connectivity, Troubleshooting, Wireless or Security. I get the error 2118 so even though I have downloaded the firmware update to my desktop I can't upload to router since I can't access that page. Also if I click on the New Firmware available click here link I get the same 2118 error.
When I click on details of the 2118 error it reads:
    http://linksys.com/jnap/router/GetWANStatus2 : {} -- Status: 200 OK Content-Type: application/json; ...

  • Trying to restart my HP touchpad after complete reset.

did a complete reset on my HP.  upon restarting, it asked for language..given.  it asked for country...given. then it shows the networks it can find and posts them on a list.  then it ased for a password.  my WIFI is Netgear....it lists the Networks it can find , then it asked for the password.  I have used this WIFI router for over 4 years and use it on another HP, Apple IPad and my grandaughters (2) Ipad's and have no trouble with this password.  when I hit <enter> the activity circle spinns and then in red letters, "no such network has been found with this password. The password I put in is the password printed on the Router. attempts to go further are completely blocked and it dumps you back to "language".  any suggestions.  I cannot do anything further on this computer to get it back up and running. HELP PLEASE.....

The router resetting advice above is good. Check your router doesn't have a list of allowed devices. If it does, then remember to tell it to scan for your device when you first connect. I'd also suggest checking the router to see if the device has actually connected or not - most routers have a web interface. Check also the wifi symbol on the TP if it's visible.
If it appears that the device is connecting and the router shows it as connected to the network (and your other devices work), then the error message would suggest that the tablet can't connect the the resource it seeks. In the event of a total reset or freshly doctored device, this would be the HP servers for profile creation - which were switched off on the 15th of April.
If this is happening after a reset and you are not able to use the TouchPad at all, then I'd guess you might have the activation problem.

    0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred
0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out
    Any input is much appreciated.

Let's take a look at what you're worried about: 11,617 output errors divided by 21,236,022 packets output = 0.05% loss. Not really much to worry about there.
As for the 25 interface resets, that's one reset for every 849,441 output packets. Again, nothing really to worry about, but one does wonder why those numbers are not zero.
So how about taking a closer look at the following line you reported:
Input queue: 0/75/962/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 181678
Notice in particular the "Input queue drops = 962" and more importantly, the "Total output drops = 181,678". You can find detailed troubleshooting information about these problems at: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/63/queue_drops.html to help you figure out what the actual problem is and whether or not it can be rectified by fine tuning your parameters.
FYI: Here is a standard definition of Output related errors: (taken from http://www-commeng.cso.uiuc.edu/uiucnet/reports/glossary.html )
    Output Errors
    - Output errors are the sum of all the output errors that occur on an interface.
    Out Success With Retry Errors
    - Out Success With Retry errors are output errors which indicate that a frame successfully transmitted after one or more collisions. Out Success With Retry Errors are the number of frames that experienced a a collision and retransmit before success. The total collisions divided by the number of Out Success With Retry errors will provide the average number of collisions per packet transmitted with collisions.
    Out of Window Collisions Errors
    - Out of Window Collisions are a type of output error. Out of window collision errors occur when a frame in the process of being transmitted collides with another frame. This error usually occurs either when some interface on the network fails to defer or the network has too many stations. (See Late Collisions.)
    Output Discard Errors
    - Output Discards are output errors that occur when the router has to throw a packet out instead of queuing it for transmission on the Ethernet. Output discard errors usually indicate that the network has more traffic than it can handle. They may also indicate a software discard such as no route to destination.
    Output FIFO Overrun Errors
    - FIFO Overruns are a type of output error. Output FIFO Overruns occur when the output queue in the adapter underflowed while putting a frame on the wire. This problem occurs when the interface is not receiving bits of the frame fast enough.

  • Satellite Pro M70 can't refresh IP address after router reboot

My Laptop isn't able to repair it's wireless connection if I reset the router. I have to power cycle the laptop to get it to connect again as it always gets stuck on getting network address... Any known issues about this with software patch or anything...?
    Thanks

    Hello Huw
As far as I know there are no known issues with WLAN connection and I dont know exactly what happen with your WLAN connection. After router reboot try to disable WLAN card for a short time, enable it again and try to establish connection again.
The settings are the same and nothing must be changed.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.
