  • Windows 7 installation error: "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start.

Towards end of recent iTunes software update on Windows 7, I had an installation error within starting services "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start, etc. Pressed IGNORE option. Appears to install but fails to load saying msvcr80.dll missing.
Any ideas. The old version of iTunes now loads ok but will not connect to my iPhone 4S. It crashes when the iPhone option is clicked.

You need to follow the instructons of tt2 in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5822086 to straighten that out.

    Hi Hosmer,
If iTunes cannot start the Apple Mobile Device Service, first try the steps in this article:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567
If the issue persists, I recommend removing and reinstalling iTunes using this specific method:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

  • Apple Mobile Device Failed to Start error during installation of iTunes

In an attempt to update my iTunes to the latest version, as prompted by a pop-up, the update failed.  I then tried to open iTunes from my desktop but a pop-up displayed that the program wasn't working properly and that I should re-install iTunes.  I removed the program and then attempted to re-install.  Midway through the install, I receive an error message that "Services "Apple Mobile Device" (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I can either Abort, Retry, or Cancel...none of which completes the install.
    Help.

    Chaps and chapesses,
I too was having the same problem when I tried to update and then unfortunately uninstall and re-install itunes. But, like Nige above me says, you need to uninstall all your Apple software and then re-install itunes.
Have a look at the response given to this forum post:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5819470?tstart=0
I did exactly as the turingtest2 said:
I removed all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Then I restarted my computer, and the install of itunes worked like a dream. None of this ignore, abort, cancel nonsense.
Hopefully all your respective versions of itunes will work soon. Cheers Nigel280

  • HT1926 reinstalled itunes after unistalling it due to error message during update. after it was completly unistalled still has the same error message: service "apple mobile device" (apple mobile device) failed to start, verify you have sufficient priviled

I was prompted to update itunes this evening. I did and in the process, it came up with the following error message: Service "apple mobile device" (apple mobile device) failed to start. Verify you have sufficient priviledges to start system services. I unistalled itunes completly and reinstalled but am still getting the same error message. If I click "ignore" the program will finish downloading but will not launch due to "not being installed correctly". Please help, I use this program alot with my first grade classroom and they're expecting their listening center in the morning.

  • Yes another user with problem with Apple Mobile Device Support, I am getting the error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device'(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Vertify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service....

Yes another user with problem with Apple Mobile Device Support, I am getting the error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device'(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Vertify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service....I hit retry and it came up again. I hit ignore and it prompted me to hit finish so Itunes can open.   I looked thru alot of these posts on here to try and resolve this problem myself but it's not working too well...I downloaded Itunes to my desktop so I can right click it with the program i downloaded called WinRAR. I extracted it and then went into the folder called Itunes64setup. I saw the file called AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 in there so I began to try and download it on it's own. Well that didn't work as I planned and got this error message:
Apple Mobile Device Support wasn't installed on your computer. The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
Well I tried to run it again and came up with the same message...I see that some people got great support to help them so I am hoping someone can help me as well. I know "b nor" is very qualfied and hopefully can help me! Please advise what I can do. Thank you

  • Several errors: missing MSVCR80.dll, "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start", Error 7

I have been trying all morning to re-install iTunes, but continually receive the following errors:
"Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
"iTunes was not installed correctly,  Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)"
"iTunesHelper.exe - System Error: The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
I have found a solution on iTunes support for the Error 7 message and followed the instructions, but the problem was not resolved.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times (I am doing all of this through the administrator sign on on my Windows 7 PC), and still receive these errors.  I have purchased a registry cleaning tool to try to fix the .dll error and it was not resolved.  I can't even get iTunes to install properly on my computer and have lost all use of the program.  I am at a loss as to what to do!!  Can anyone help!!

  • Error 1920-Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start.

    Hi,
When ever I try to install the Apple Mobile Device Support this message shows up "Error 1920-Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services".  I have uninstalled itunes multiple times. I have tried only installing the Apple Moblie Devuce Support by doing the extract file from WinRaff. Nothing has worked. Could you please help me? I'm getting relly frusturated with this whole thing. All I want to do is download songs on to my i-pod.
    Thank You,
    Aleida H.

I guess the short answer is don't try to pass MSI properties to the installer.
I don't think this is anything your fellow users can help with, but you might want to file a report at Bug Reporter.

  • HT1926 What do I do with the error..."Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."  This is on my Window desktop.  Removed/reinstall still get this. Help? Retri

I was getting an update and it would not load so I tried to uninstall and reinstall.  Now when it reinstalls it gets to the end and it comes up with the following error message.
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
This is on my desktop that I have had for a number of years that has had itunes for a number of years.  I have an two ipods and an ipad associated with the itunes account.  Now I can not get it to go past this message.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Getting an error message when trying to reinstall iTunes - 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start the system services.

After a recent iTunes update my iTunes failed to start. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it again, but during installation an error message pops up saying: 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start the system services. The three option buttons which can be clicked are 'Abort', 'Retry' and 'Ignore'. I tried pressing ignore, which allowed iTunes to install. However, it seemed that not all parts off the programme installed, as it wouldn't allow me to open iTunes again. Whenever I press retry it just makes the same message pop up again. How can I show that I have 'sufficient privileges'?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)

    Apple Application Support

  • Error message: "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."  during the latest iTunes download.

While downloading the newest iTunes update I received several errors. The latest one being this: "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."  These are the steps that I have already taken: un install iTunes (several times), reinstall iTunes (several times), move the .dil files to my desktop (although I have no idea what to do with them now)... I am still getting the same error while trying to download 1. the service error and 2. iTunes failing to open because it isn't properly installed. Can some one PLEASE be so kind as to help me with VERY simple step by step directions. I'm usually more computer savvy than the average user, but I'm feeling computer illiterate at the moment. I've been trying to work though this for 2 days now... sigh. Thank you in advance!
