Error applying SPS9 on J2EE Engine 7.0
Hello,
we are trying to apply SP9 on the Java Stack of Netweaver 2004s, but now we can not start the J2EE engine, that returns the following error:

We have verified the userid and password, and they are correct. Changed the values with configtool, but still get this error. What else can be done to get J2EE up and running ?
We are running a ABAP+Java instance.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Ernest Lluis.
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your prompt reply!
Actually we checked out the user SAPJSF and it's password and we are sure they are correct. But we think the SPS9 apply has changed the configtool parameters, might it really be ??
We had a similar situation during installation where the username was bad written in configtool: SAPJFS instead of SAPJFS !
Yesterday we got even the user blocked due to many failed logons... We think that maybe there is some other parameter that we are missing wich can help the Java Stack to determine the user for logging on the Abap Stack.
Anyway, I'll try to Activate the emergency user to be able to finish the upgrade... I'll let you know if it worked.
Please tell me if you have some other idea arround this assuming that user in configtool is well parametrized.
Thanks again !

I have tried stopping and restarting the instance in the MMC, everything comes up fine.
Any ideas???
THANKS!!
TommyTommy,
I encountered the same error when installing Java in HP-UX OS. In my case this was due to the support packs on ABAP stack. I installed ABAP and applied recent support packs as part of post-install steps and then started the Java Add-in.
I re-installed ABAP Central Instance, Database Finalization and created and performed client copy. Thereafter, started Java Add-In. This time, the Java install completed successfully without the CJS-20057 error.
I hope this approach helps you too!

Error when starting SAP J2EE Engine Log Viewer Service
Hi,
I'm running SAP EP6 SP14.
I need to make the default trace log file on the WAS Server (Windows) available to the developer's. For this goal, I am attempting to install and start the SAP J2EE Engine LogViewer Service on the WAS. I think I have configured the service.ini file appropropriately. When I register the service, I get a successful message that the service has been registed. The service even shows up in the Windows Service Manager.
However, when I attempt to start the service, the process fails after a 4-minute attempt. I eventually get an error popup saying
"Could not start the SAP J2EE Engine Logviewer service on the Local Computer"
"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion".
The service shows as "starting" until I reboot the WAS.
The logviewer.bat runs fine on the WAS itself.
I can also connect from the client to the WAS thru the J2EE connection, but that requires the admin password. I'd rather get this approach to work.
Regards,
KevinHi,
I have the same error during starting the service. How did you resolve that error?

Error when installing DI:J2EE Engine J00 of SAP system WS3 did not reach st
I am trying to install WAS Dialog Instance, but found error :
first run \Master\IM01_NT_I386\SAPINST\NT\I386\sapinst.exe
then set some parameters as usual and start installation.
when coming to phase 10 of 11:start sap j2ee engine, the log shows as follows:
INFO 2007-04-20 14:46:09
J2EE Engine J01 of SAP system WS3 did not come up after 623 seconds: waiting for another 20 seconds.
and at last it gives up,shows:
ERROR 2007-04-20 14:54:31
CJS-20058 J2EE Engine J01 of SAP system WS3 did not reach state "Starting Applications" after 1126 seconds: giving up.
I dont know how to handle this , pls help .thank you.Hi,
The problem could be with any of the following.
1>check JDK version you are using. use supported JDK in case if you you don't have
2>check your memory parameters. Notes 597187, 552522
might be of help.
may be the problem could be with the Heap Size.change it to value (ex:1024 MB) and try if it works.
also
3>check whether you started in safe mode. if so, change it to normal mode.
reward if it helps -

From then my j2ee engine can't run any more. My configuration is,
RAM: 2G
OS : windowsXP SP2
EP 6.0 SP9
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks
JulianHello Julian,
Have a look at the log files in <J2EE instance>\work directory. Check dev_* and std_* files. There must be some error messages in them, which will give you a clue what might have got wrong.
Kind Regards

Error in SDM during J2EE Engine SP14 patch application
Hi,
During an update of the J2EE engine to SP14, the update of stops with an error during deployment via SDM.
Below is the error from the log.
Configuration of DB target system "CONFIG_DB" is incomplete.
I suspect that there is an error in the SDM CONFIG_DB configuration, where the database's SID is not entered. However, I could not find a way to add in the entry.
Please advice.
AzliTry this
In /SDM/program/config/sdmrepository.sdc search for an entry for the "CONFIG_DB" target. Replace the value of the <FixedSizeParamContainer> parameter with the appropriate one. Save the changes
refer Note 867976 before doing this.

Hi,
We are on Ep6 SP12 and we are making our portal available via internet. we have adapted IIS proxy and wanted to apply SSL. I'm little confused on number of SSL certificates I have to apply. Between Browser and J2ee engine I have IIS server.
Do I have to apply SSL between browser and IIS or is it sufficient if I apply SSL to J2ee engine??
Any suggestions or docs or ideas highly appreciated.
thanks,
Maya.It depends on the level of encryption that you want. However, it is possible to have SSL terminate at the IIS proxy box and have the proxy send out requests in http to the portal.

SAP j2ee engine is not running error while applying patches.
Hi all,
Iam in the process of aplpying patches using JSPM tool , for some of them iam getting the error messages , when i checked the log file for this tool it says:
SAP J2ee engine is not running , unable to login to <HOST name> with id <Login id>.
Iam very new to this activity ,can anybody help me in this regard , i wil be very thankful.
Thanks and Regards.
Niyati.Hi,
What exactly do you see when you say that the status in the MMC is OK? I don't think it can be green if you say that you get a message saying "Service Unavailable" when you try to login. If you get that message, it means that the service hasn't either been started or could not be started in case of an error. In this case the server status in the MMC should be yellow (or gray in case none of the services could be started)...
Could you perhaps check it again? Another point to check would be if the connection to the database is OK. If you are using MySQL MaxDB, you could use the Database Manager tool to check this. Sometimes the log files fill up the database and the server cannot start because the database is full. In such cases you will need to clear the logs and then restart the entire cluster.

J2EE Engine cannot start after applying SP11 on WAS 6.40
Hi SAP
I am upgrading my WAS 6.40 SR1 java instance from SP9 to SP11. At the last stages of the installation the Java instance is stopped & started,at the step where Java instance is started, the 'server' process of the Java instance is not coming up properly. jcmon shows the dispatcher & SDM with status 'running' while server0 is with status 'stopped'.
Since I'm using ABAP as data source to the J2EE, appears to me that the problem is occuring due to password mismatch for user SAPJSF in R/3 client 168 & between user SAPJSF in J2EE though I'm not sure why the password might change in J2EE after applying SP11.
Please advice if my reasoning is correct, if no please advice how to solve this problem.
If yes pls advice how can I change the password for user SAPJSF in J2EE. FYI I already tried changing the password for user SAPJSF using the offline config tool, Under cluster-data-> Instance_ID87066 I select the
services com.sap.security.core.ume.service, then I select the ume.r3.connection.master.passwd, then the problem is inside the value option I'm not able to input the new password, neither I'm able to delete the old password, so the best thing I can do is Click on Set which opens a small window without any description with 2 options OK & Cancel, here I put the password same as R/3 password & save, after this I re-start the J2EE, but the same problem persists. Please advice on solving the problem.

Hi everyone,
We're applying sp4 in our WAS 6.30sp3 installation (Oracle / Solaris). But we have problems during SP4 installation, the 11 step: "Start SAP J2EE Engine" never ends, I just receive the following error:
CJS-20024 J2EE engine JC00 of SAP system EPD did not come up after 800 seconds: giving up.
Anybody knows the possible cause of this ? I would appreciate a lot for your help =( We have 2 days with no advance on this.. =(
Thanks and regards from Mexico,
DiegoHi,
I have installed the J2EE engine on a W2K system we got the same error.
J2EE Engine JC02 of SAP system J2E did not come up after 524 seconds: waiting for another 20 seconds.
I have not changed any default parameters.
Please let me know where to set the default size.
ThanksInAdvance,

Time out error on deploying to SAP-J2EE engine.
I got a problem while deploying to SAP-J2EE engine using ant. It takes a lot of time and then throws a time out error.
The problem is with the web.xml file pointing to a DTD in the internet, I have pasted some part of the web.xml below,
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<!DOCTYPE web-app
PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.2//EN"
<web-app>
<display-name>MyPay</display-name>
<description>MyPay</description>
Once I write down the DTD description in the web.xml itself, it works fine.
I have pasted the error trace below,
j2eedeploy:

The problem seems to be with my system, because I had run the same ant script in another system and it deployed successfully.
The problem does not seem to be with the dtd, whereas it seems that the SAP-J2EE engine is not able to open the link to the dtd giving a time out error.
Is it possible to switch off the validation process of the SAP-J2EE engine of an xml with the dtd? -

satishHi,
Check whether your workspace has any other .ear files. If yes, just delete those ear files and try creating the ear file for your application again. I had a similar problem and it got resolved by the above method.
