ERROR at line 1: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

I have a DRDA gateway set up between my Oracle 10.2.0.4 instance (linux 64 bit), and a DB2 UDB instance (v 8.2 32 Bit). Within a SQLPlus session, I'm able to successfully interact with tables (select, update, delete) that do not have CLOB columns defined. However, whenever I try to access a table with a CLOB column (even doing a select on a single row), I get an end-of-file communication error and it kicks me out of my session. I can interact with the table as long as I don't include the CLOB/BLOB columns. Is there some additional configuration or memory settings I'm missing?

Unfortunately TG4DRDA 10.2.0 does not support DB2 (C)LOB datatype. A crash is a rather unpleasant way to report this inability... but that could depend on the version of TG4DRDA you use (10.2.0.1.0). I guess when you upgrade TG4DRDA to 10.2.0.4.0 you will get a proper error message (ORA-28527 - datatype conversion error).
As workaround you could:
- create a view on the DB2 table and exclude the (C)LOB columns
- move/copy the (C)LOB data into a TG4DRDA supported datatype ((long) varchar for bit data)

    Seems these lines are telling the tale:
    Symbol file E:\ORADB\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\BIN\orannzsbb11.SYM does not match binary.
    Symbol TimeStamp=4b62bd94, Module TimeStamp=0 are different
    I don't understand why the symbol table doesn't match the binary unless someone 'stepped' on one of them (meaning overwrote them).  Have you checked %ORACLE_HOME%\bin for file times?

  • ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel ERROR

    After applying Database patch 3095277 to my 9.2.0.1.0 installation
    in order to update it to 9.2.0.4.0,I'm getting ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    ERRORS when attempting various tasks. This is a local installation running on a Windows XP Workstation.
    I've even tried creating a new test database but the result is the same.
    The reason for moving up to 9.2.0.4.0 is so I can start using Advanced Queuing, which I understand had problems in earlier releases.
    However before the update I could at least create the JMS queue tables without ERROR whereas now I get the following errors when attempting to create a queue table in SQL Plus from within Enterprise Manager Console.
    SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.4.0 - Production on Thu Sep 18 08:20:08 2003

    I would be grateful of any pointers as to how to resolve this problem.
    Regards
    Gary.

    Chris, Thanks for the suggestion,
    I took a look in the trace log and found the following entries that point to a ORA-00600 as you mentioned earlier.
    This is only a test database so there's no great loss if
    I have to re create it, but in saying that I did create a new test02 from scratch and had the same problem.
    Is it posible something went wrong when applying the 9.2.0.4.0 patch ?.
    Regards
    Gary.

  • Context Index World Lexer ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

    I have release 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.2.0) for Windows and trying to take advantage of the World Lexer.
    My table is:
    create table worldtest(
    filename char(32),
    content blob
    I've created a preference for the WORLD_LEXER:
         begin
         ctx_ddl.create_preference('wlex', 'WORLD_LEXER');
         end;
    Right now I'm working with 10,000 records of PDF, MS-Word, Text, and HTM documents. When I try and create a context index using this lexer:
    create index i_ctx_wc on worldtest(content)
    indextype is ctxsys.context
    parameters ('lexer wlex');
    The following error is returned, and I have to use drop index force to remove the index. Without 'Force' a message is return saying the index is an a loading state, but nothing is occuring.
    create index i_ctx_wc on worldtest(content)
    indextype is ctxsys.context
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    The indexing works fine when I leave the world lexer preference out.
    Any suggestions would be wonderful. I've been banging my head on this one for a while.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I couldn't reproduce (different version which is perhaps the problem). Check out bug 4056162. ORA-3113 related to the use of the world lexer. The resolution is not published externally, so no help there, but the bug is closed so perhaps support can provide some insight.
    Thanks.

    Simple function returns a java.util.String that is a coded version of the DATE parameter. Procedure does not use a connection object.

    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    Cause: An unexpected end-of-file was processed on the communication channel. The problem could not be handled by the Net8, two task, software. This message could occur if the shadow two-task process associated with a Net8 connect has terminated abnormally, or if there is a physical failure of the interprocess communication vehicle, that is, the network or server machine went down.
    Action: If this message occurs during a connection attempt, check the setup files for the appropriate Net8 driver and confirm Net8 software is correctly installed on the server. If the message occurs after a connection is well established, and the error is not due to a physical failure, check if a trace file was generated on the server at failure time. Existence of a trace file may suggest an Oracle internal error that requires the assistance of customer support.
    I am currently looking into the trace file as suggested.

  • Weird ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel error

    Hi,
    I am running a simple select distinct query (actually it is a little complex), and when I run it I keep getting the ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel error. Now it has been working fine all time until today. I checked the trace files that it generated but nothing stands out. It is only this one specific query that kills it. I checked on Metalink, but no help there. Can someone please shed some light on this.

    So last night I started to think it might just be the query that is giving us the problem so I started to work on the query and came across something very interesting. This is the query that the user is using:
    SQL> select distinct
    2 rqms.ALERT_ID_NEW as ALERT_ID, (site.NAME || ' (' || site.COUNTRY_REGION || ')') as Customer,
    3 rqms.START_DTTM as Time, RPAD(rqms.SUM_NODE_WDTIME/60, 18) as Weighted_Downtime,
    4 RPAD( (rqms.SUM_NODE_DURATION/60) ||' min.', 15) as Duration, rpad(al.CL_PART_NO, 15) as Product,
    5 rpad(al.CL_REVISION, 10) as Revision, case.title
    6 from csalert.alert_call_info al, csalert.ALERT_INCIDENTS ai, clarify.cs_case case,
    7 clarify.cs_site site, csalert.rqms_incidents rqms, CLARIFY.CS_PRODUCT_INFORMATION prod
    8 where al.ALERT_ID = ai.ALERT_ID
    9 and al.srid = case.case_id
    10 and case.CSR_CALLERSITE = site.CALLERSITE_OBJID
    11 and al.alert_id = rqms.alert_id
    12 and case.CSR_HARDWARE_PART = prod.PRODUCTINFORMATION_OBJID
    13 and (prod.FAMILY = 'Services Edge Router' or prod.FAMILY = 'SHASTA')
    14 and al.START_DTTM >= trunc(sysdate - 1)
    15 order by (site.NAME || ' (' || site.COUNTRY_REGION || ')')
    16 /
    If you look at line 14 with the trunc statement...well it seems like when I tried to re-write this query piece by piece, it would work, but as soon as I would bring back this line it would fail with the error mentioned in this postings.
    This morning I came in and the user is complaining about another query acting the same way. So I performed the same steps as I did above and would you believe it...the new query also had a couple of lines where it used the trunc function. I removed them and re-ran the query with 100% success. So since the patch was applied, it seems like we are having problems with the trunc function it would seem like. This problem has gotten to just plain weird for me. I am completly lost here now.

  • Error ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel in droppping  a table

    Good evening,
    I am very new on Oracle and I have a problem with some tables. Without any reason, apparently, I can't drop some of my table. Oracle gives me this error:
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    and then close the connection of the user.
    What I should have to do?
    It is very important.
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
    Looks like your archivelog space is exhausted. Increase the db_recovery_file_dest_size size and check.

    Hi,
    We are trying to run an EAL (v11.1.1.4) extract from an HFM (v9.3.1.4) environment onto Oracle database. We are able to run the extract successfully for few hundred records, but when the records exceeds 10 million we get the error below

    > And when i try to full join my tables and replace LEFT JOIN with FULL OUTER
    JOIN following errors accurs:
    (ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel) and oracle gets disconnect.
    This is not an error, but a symptom of an error. An ORA-03113 results when the Oracle Server Process that services your client, terminates abnormally. When that server process terminates, the connection (TCP socket) to your client is torn down - without your client knowing about it.
    The ORA-03113 is generated by your client's Oracle driver when your client suddenly discovers that the connection to the Oracle Server Process is no longer there.
    So why does the Server Process terminate abnormally? Usually due to an internal error (an ORA-600 and/or an ORA-7445).
    These errors results in:
    - error messages to be generated in the Oracle instance's alert log
    - a trace file generated by the server process that includes stack and memory dumps
    You need to determine what these errors are, and the use the ORA-600/ORA-7445 Troubleshooter (Metalink Note 153788.1) on [url http://metalink.oracle.com]Metalink to troubleshoot the error, determine whether it is a bug, if there is a patch or a workaround available, etc.

  • ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel & ORA-00600: internal error

    Hi All,
    I am testing my database which is already on 11gr1 working fine for application but after migration from 11gR1 to 11gR2 i am getting the below error while running application on a view:-
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    Process ID: 3280
    Session ID: 35 Serial number: 11301
    Above Error gets resolved after changing the order of underline tables and recreate But their is another error i am getting with same test case means select from a view
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kkqtSetOp.1], [], [], [], [], [],[], [], [], [], [], []
    This view is complex and nested. But working fine in 10g 11gR1. Please help...
    Edited by: 832546 on Feb 8, 2011 1:48 AM

    Hi,
    Above errors ORA-00600: internal error is resolved after i submit SR. They suggest to change parameter “_optimizer_join_factorization” to false.
    But i am still facing with another error with view on oracle 11gr2
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel...
    Below is the work around i done for "ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel"
    Join Condition for view is
    t1.VERSION=t2.VERSION
    and t1."PLAN"=t2.BASELINE_PLAN_ID
    and t1.PLAN_VERSION=t2.BASELINE_PLAN_VERSION
    If i run by just removing any one of above join condition is works fine but since i dont know business logic so i come up with solution below
    1. create table t111 as select * from t1;
    2. rename table t1 to abc
    3. rename t111 to t1
    Now it is starts working.
    I don't know what had happen but i find workaround not solution.
    If somebody suggest the solution and reason why this happening highly appreciated.
    Please Help....
