Error bars in mac excel 2011

Dear friends
I am using mac excel 2011 and made charts using multiple series of data. I have calculated mean, std dev and std error and wanted to pt in custom values for error bars. Everytime I choose error bars>more options> custom readings and then highlight
the cells on the chart. But the error bar still show the same value in all columns of that series.
I have even exported the sheet to my PC and tried on excel 2003 and it still is not allowing me to chose different values even in custom setting.
Please help

    If all else fails, this is easily solved with our CRChart replacement library (which does excellent error-bars).

  • [PLEASE HLEP] Mac excel 2011, cannot open embed PDF

    How can open embed PDF in excel?
    Also, I cannot insert PDF file in Mac word and excel (2011 version)
    Please help. thanks.

    It sounds like you want to be able to modify a PDF in Word.
    If that is the case you need a program that will open the PDF and then perform an OCR (Optical Scan Recognition) on it to convert it back to text (PDF is a form of image/graphic file; like a photo taken of how it will print).
    Take a look at PDFPen Pro:

  • MAC Excel 2011 cursor issues

    I am using Mac Office Excel v. 2011.  Since upgrading to LION I opening Excel the cursor shows as a square box with small arrow points on the upper left and lower right corners.  A left or right mouse click will not return the cursor to a plus sign and the last cell that as highlighted is frozen.
    Resaving into different file type or closing and reopening has not chaged the situation.   Any suggestions on how to return the square box cursor back to a plus sign cursor?
    Thanks, Mikey

    I had the same problem. Here's what I did to fix it:
    1. Opened a new worksheet in the offending workbook.
    2. Click in any cell and add something (doesn't mater what.)
    3. Go back to the original worksheet.
    4. Double click while hovering over the select all corner icon (at the top left of the worksheet - it's a box with a triangle in it)
    5. Poof! Cursor back to normal!
    Hope this helped.

  • Mac Excel 2011 crashes everyday; what can I do?

    Please help me quickly resplve my crashing Excel program.
    I get a message that says Excel has encountered an error and needs to close. After I send the error report, it reverts to the last autosaved version.
    It's very frustrating, because even though autosave is set for 3 min...I still have to re-do everthing I was working on and loose my place.
    ~I use Excel everyday, and had no problems on my OLD MACBOOK, or any of my various PC's.

    Is it up to date?
    Office has lots of issues with Fonts. While excel isn't a font heavy program, it's worth checking.
    Open Font Book
    Select All Fonts
    Select Validate Fonts from the File menu.
    Resolve any problems.
    Microsoft installs a lot of fonts that are duplicates of the System Fonts. I turned off all of the Microsoft duplicates.

  • Mac Excel 2008 error bars

    I am trying to create custom error bars in an Excel graph but I am not having any luck.  My IT person suggested updating my Excel 2008 but that did not do anything.  I am relatively new to Macs so it could be my own lack of Mac experience.  Please help!

  • Error Bars - Can Error Bars be added to Crystal Report Charts

    I am trying to add or create "error bars" in my cystral report chart (graph).  I can add "error bars" in an Excel sheet chart (graph) but I cannot find the functionality in crystal reports.
    Is it possible to "error bars" to a crystal report chart.  If so, how?

    Hi,
    I don't see that this functionality or this kind of chart exists in CR.
    I would suggest that you log an Enhancement Request at http://ideas.sap.com and let our developers look into this.

  • HT201250 Problem with recent Excel 2011 update

    I installed an update to Mac Excel 2011 yesterday.  It complete sucessfully but the VBA component is now missing.  All Exel files with VBA code now cannot be opened.  The following message is shown for each:
    Excel could not open xxxx.xlsm because some content is unreadable.  Do you want to open and repair this workbook?
    I attempted to use the Time Machine to restore the Excel applicatiion but it will not run because it says Excel is open when it is not.
    Has anyone had a similar problem with the latest update to Excel?

    I bought a refurb ipad 32gb. I have noticed when itunes via wifi fails to do an app update, it screws the whole ios; thereby forcing ipad to go into recovery mode. I thought Apple learned the hard way not to allow one app to bring down the whole os!! This is the 5th time an app caused this. last time Apple forced me to reinstall Itunes, wasted 2 hrs.
    I worked hard saving up enough funds to get an iPad. Yes, i even paid Applecare too. If this can be fixed, I want a replacement or a full refund.

  • Can't open an Excel doc (w/ macros and VBA) in Excel 2011 for Mac. Anyone have any ideas (other than using a pc instead)?

    Hi all,
       I am trying to open a document created in Excel in Windows on my Excel 2011 for mac copy.  The issue seems to be related to using the Macros and VB associated with the .xlsm doc.  The specific error I get in Excel is:
    Compile error in hidden module: Utilities
    When I try to open it in an Excel web app, or other online excel environment (whether using Firefox or Chrome) I get this message:
    We can't show these features in the browser:
    VBA Project
    Shapes or other objects
    few other forums suggested an issue with adobe add-ins, but I don't show one in the Excel>Tools>Addins dialogue.
    Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

    The same error message will result from a problem in any add-ins ,thus you should investigate other installed add-ins. It is worth the effort to try to start your excel program in safe mode. About how to use safe mode in Mac OS, Please refer to :http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892428
    If this issue is gone in this situation, try to disable add-ins in excel.
    In addition, since this issue is related to Excel 2011 for Mac, I would suggest that you post your issue in the following forum:http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac

  • I want to de-install mac-excel test version and get the error message: you have not the privileges to de-install. Please login with the Mac-OS account you have installed mac-excel originally'. I don't know this account anymore. I am sysadm

    I want to de-install mac-excel test version and get the error message: 'You have not the privileges to de-install. Please login with the Mac-OS account you have installed mac-excel originally'. I don't know this account anymore. Possibly it does not exist anymore. anybody out there who can help ?

    Hi, I may suggest to activate the root account and try the uninstall process from that account. To do so, you have to:
    Go to System Preferences a open up the Users pane;
    On the left side of the pane, you shuold see Login Options;
    Enabled editing option clicking on the lock (it will ask your password);
    Once the pane is enabled, you should see something like Server Account Network (sorry my OS is in italian, so I don't exactly know the right translation), and right next to it a button;
    Click on that button, and a new pane shows up. Click on Open Directory Utility, and on the upper bar of OS X click on Edit;
    Select Enable Root Account (you can set a password, or not);
    Done that, you should log out and when the login window show up, type on the user field "root" and the password you choose;
    Theorically, from this account you will be able to unistall the application.
    After completing your task, I reccomend you to disable the root account, just by loggin in your personal account and repeating the steps I described before. Hope it helps

  • Excel 2011 for Mac issue

    I’m using excel 2011 for Mac and my OS is Yosemite. After a recent update from Microsoft I’ve stopped seeing what I am typing in the cell until I press enter. It appears in the formula bar but not in the cell. How can I change this so the characters show in the cells as I type them?

    Click the cell that displays the error, click the button that appears , and then click the option "Trace Error"
    if it appears. (Sorry, I've not install Excel 2011 for MAC, so I cannot confirm the exact name of the option)

  • Inserting Symbols in Excel 2011 for Mac

    How do I insert the `cubic' symbol (the tiny 3) in Excel 2011 for Mac OS Yosemite Version 10? I upgraded my OS recently and the Advanced Symbol tab seems to have disappeared. Please help.

    I suggest doing it as follows:
    Show OS X's Character Viewer.  Do that from the Menu Bar.  If you don't see how, go to System Preferences > Keyboard and check "Show Keyboard & Character Viewers in Menu Bar."
    In the search bar in the upper right, type "3".
    In the results (shown in the lower right), the first result you see is a superscript "3".
    Double click the superscript "3" to transfer it to your Excel spreadsheet (wherever you left your cursor there).

  • Excel 2011 for Mac isn't displaying my graph properly.

    I have an excel spreadsheet that I use to track all my territory sales. There is a graph on the spreadsheet that reflects the numbers of the specific territory when I filter to that specific territory. Though it works on excel for windows it is not working on Excel 2011 for mac. Any thoughts?

    Excel for Mac and Excel for Windows are not 100% compatible. I would ask in the Office for Mac forums http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac?auth=1
