Error burning Memorex DVD +R DL on both my mac's

I have 2 Macs. Macbook Pro Labtop (2006) and PowerMac G5 (2005) I need to burn info on a DVD but it brings up the error code 0x8002006D I have read other posts but the info is a bit confusing not sure what I should try first. The drive works fine with burning CD's so what should I try first?

Hi. I've also been having issues with this.
I bought some Memorex DVD +R DL discs, but whenever I try to burn on them I keep getting an error about how the "laser wasn't able to generate enough power to penetrate the disc." Even my Toast 9 titanium won't work, it says I have a "Medium Error." I've tried everything: Toast 9, Disk Utility, Burn Folder, etc. And it will not burn.
Is there a fix for this? I did manage to burn a DVD DL disc about a month ago, but I can't remember how I got it to burn. These Superdrives are listed as being able to burn DVD DL, but I've been having nothing but problems trying to do so.
This is absolutely ridiculous.

  • MEDIUM ERROR Burning a DVD-R

Hi, I'm trying to burn a DVD for several times with Roxio Toast Titanium 6.
I used to do it like this always but now it seems impossible.
I'm trying to record a DATA DVD and this is the error I get:
    The drive reported and error:
    Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR
    Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03
    My DVD´s are DVD-R 4.7gb.
    The recorder is a Matshita DVD-R UJ-816.
Can you help me find the problem for this?

    First welcome to the discussions.
With your drive and optical burner it will only qaccept DVD-R Media. There is such a wide range of problems with cheaper Media I suggest you find Maxell 8X DVD-R media it comes in a pack of 3 Read the back panel on it and if it says it burns at 1X 2X 4X 8X then you have the right one.
I have had 100% burn rate with this media in my Computer with the same drive. There seems to be a big difference in the different types and manufactures of media.
    Cheers Don

  • Errors burning a DVD

I made a project in iMovie and have transferred it to iDVD and am now having errors while burning my DVD. It seems to make it through about 40% of the DVD before spitting it out uncompleted. Should I be buying a certain type of DVD-R? I am using an original Macbook Pro.
Of course, as chance would have it, I really need this DVD completed by tonight. Anybody have general suggestions on how to get this thing burned properly?

Are there other programs I can use besides iDVD to burn my iMovie?
Roxio Toast does a great job of doing just that iMovie > Toast. And of couse apple's FCS / DVDSP can also perform this function although the latter is a bit more pricey and more difficult to learn than Toast is. Toast does nearly as well and at a fraction of the cost of apple's FCS.
Now before you going buying any additional software .... may I ask a question? Do you have at least 25GB's of available hard drive space on the boot volume of your mac (excluding any external devices)?
And did you try repairing permissions from apple's disc utilities yet as well as disposing of iDvd's preferences?
If not, Quit iDvd and go to your Home folder (the one that looks like a house) > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iDvd.plist and drag and drop this file/s to the trash followed by a complete restart of your mac. Now try iDvd.
And if that too fails, then please also try launching iDvd from a separate user account. Post back if you need help on how to create a new user account. Or you can type in the following phrase into the Mac Help search field on your laptop, "Create a New User Account." Follow each step as outlined.

  • Errors Burning DL DVD

I've read as many posts as I can on this topic. Here's my deal:
Creating a DVD that's 6.3GBs. After reading many posts finally got the disc to
burn with no problem. I'm using some Photoshop layered menus created by the client and trying to make a web link that will work with PCs as well as Macs.
Menus looked "crunchy" but I may have solved that problem by resizing and I was followed the instuctions for my intellidisc trial to make the web link work. After adding a dummy track of black (3sec) and resizing the menus I can no longer burn the disk. Now I get this error message:
"Formatting was not successful. The image exceeds the maximum allowed size for a dual-layer configuration."
Which makes no sense since when I look at the VIDEO_TS folder it still says about 6.3GBs.
I've changed the switch point twice and am currnetly trying a burn with automatic set for the location.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You will need to re-reencode the video and/or make the audio AC3 if you have not done so. If the audio is aif just make it AC3 and you should be okay with no need to re-encode video

  • Please help! error burning to dvd r

Ive tried twice. I created a video for my cousins funeral tomorrow. I really need this. To work

    ashnicole3
Here is the plan. I would really like to know what version of Premiere Elements you are using and on what computer operating system it is running. Right now I am assuming at least Windows as the operating system.
So, in the name of trying to expediate matters, let us do this if you have really taken your Timeline and gotten through the Share/Disc/DVD burn to Folder (4.7 GB) and have that saved folder with a VIDEO_TS Folder in it.
Do you have such a saved folder with a VIDEO_TS Folder in it?
If so, we will burn that to DVD disc to get the DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc with a free program named ImgBurn.
At this point, details are important to keep the communication channels moving effectively and rapidly.
    Please, supply the details.
Coming attraction...if all is as said, you will be getting that VIDEO_TS Folder to DVD using the following
    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/burn_dvd_folder_imgburn.cfm
The download information for the free ImgBurn is included in the link.
We will be watching for your progress.

  • Error sense issue dvd burning

I have probably the last 24" i mac made and have been very pleased with its performance over the 5 years i have had it, but just wanted to share with all that are having the "error sense" issue when attempting to burn a dvd.
Don't bother wasting your money buying alternative dvd media, don't bother to reformat your machine or use alternative burning software as i have tried everything in the book and everything that is not in the book, this as someone quiet rightly said on communities a Apple problem and i am surprised that Apple have not jumped on this one sooner.
Apple get your best minds on this please there are lots of frustrated people out here

lots of people repport issues with optical drives dieing after awhile and with all the moving parts I'm not really chocked
if you check the new macs then apple is no longer using optical drives in their macs so suppose they are doing something
connecting any dvd usb burner to your imac should work fine

  • IDvd Error Burning on Managed Computer

I've looked all over the universe for an answer, please help! Students log in to my iMacs to edit digital video. They are on a managed network (workgroup manager) so I can limit what apps they can use. Anyway, if they create a dvd project and try to burn (all files are stored locally--the edited video from FC Express and the iDvd project file itself), it ejects the dvd and tells us "there was an error burning the dvd". If I log them out, log in as administrator, and create a new project in iDvd and import their finalized movie they made in Express, it burns awesome. What gives? I know it is related to permissions and stuff, but I am not finding a thing. I create local folders that the kids have rights to and we have tons of HD space.
    Thanks.
    Jeff

By boot disk, do you mean that the idvd project has to be saved to the root of the mac hd?
The iDVD project file doesn't need to be at the root level, but the version of iDVD doing the encoding/multiplexing needs to be operating at the root level. I guess this means you would have to do the actual encoding/multiplexing from your account.
    +++++++++
I just found this: http://sweb.uky.edu/SystemsLabs/docs/idvd.html that says "Both iDVD and DVD Studio Pro use large amounts of scratch disk space to create temporary files needed to burn a DVD. These temporary files are created on the same volume as the project files, so if your files are stored in your account, the program may be unable to burn your disk."
These temporary files are created on the same volume as the project files is a little different than I understood, please read the article and please let me know if it helps.

  • Can't Reliably Burn DL DVD-Rs

Having a huge problem trying to burn DL DVD-Rs on our Mid 2012 Mac Pro.  We have tried a couple different types of media, but we get the "The attempt to burn the disc has failed and may be unreliable" warning about half the time.  Wasting too many discs this way...
The burner is original to the Mac, simply called an HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GH80N, which I believe is an LG model.  We have tried a couple different types of media, including Verbatim, but still see these errors.  I have an old 2008 Mac Pro that has a discontinued Pioneer drive on it that is virtually 100% relaible.
Has anyone found a sweet spot on Macs with a drive/media that works reliably with the Finder?  Is there one or both I should change?  Or do I need to look at better disc burning software?
    Thanks in advance!

Hey Kevlar,  I have never had a coaster using Taiyo Yuden (JVC) DVD-DL I buy the 8X and burn at 4X, have never had a failure with the superdrive or my internal Pioneer BDR-208DBK BD burner either. I get all my disk from the SuperMediaStore (stay away from the cheaper "Value Line" disks). Whatever your disc read/write speed is burn at half the speed and run a laser cleaning disk through your burner ever so often. What editing software do you use?

  • Burning onto DVD+RW or -RW

Hi Everyone, this has probably been addressed already but I'm having trouble finding the answer I need.
I don't seem to be able to burn onto dvd+rw or -rw's and mac help says that OSX 10.3.9 won't do it, should I upgrade to Tiger or is Toast 7 the only options?
Cheers for any help you can give!

    Phil:
Toast 6 or 7 Titanium will definitely burn the DVDs to which you refer, assuming, of course, that you have a DVD burner that will.
    Good luck.

  • My MacBook Pro doesn't want to burn DL DVD?

Iv'e been tring to burn DL DVDs on my MacBook Pro but it just doesnt want too.
What should I do? I don't want to buy a external DVD burner.
Does anyone know if APPLE could install an internal DVD burner that can burn DL DVDs?
    MacBook Pro 1, 1   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Due to size constraints inside the MacBook Pro case, the higher-speed dual layer drives just didn't fit in the MacBook Pro at the time of design and manufacture. There are some drives on the horizon that will fit in this form factor - it remains to be seen what will work, or what Apple themselves includes in the later MacBook Pro revisions.
In the meanwhile, any Firewire or USB 2.0 drive should work just fine. iDVD in iLife '06 has been updated to permit burning of projects on third party available DVD burners now.

  • Error Message while trying to burn a DVD-R with my MacBook Pro: "The disc can't be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.

While using my Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 to burn a DVD-R I keep getting the error message: "This disc can't be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
So, I tried the iDVD and got the same error message.
Can anyone out there help me? I've tried both a DVD - R, and a CD.
I made a short 2:20 minute presentation from iMovie and used the "share" to iDVD, then to iTunes, then I tried exporting it to Quicktime and saved it on my desk top. That is when I tried burning by opening the blank DVD-R in the finder then draging the movie on to it and selecting the burn option. Thank you for your time in helping me with this frustrating problem.
    Peace, Pyxidis

I have had that same problem, but it was unrelated to any upgrade.
In my case the optical drive was simply failing, and I replaced it - it was a Powerbook, about eight years old.
It is possible that it's unrelated to Lion, as unlikely as this may seem, since you've just upgraded.
Optical drives seem to be the most life-limited component in these computers. The laser just seems to get weak with age.

  • 0x80220022 error when I try to burn a DVD

    Hi,
I get an error message (0x80220022) whenvever I try to burn a DVD. Same message occurs in both toast titanium and in the finder.
When in toast the program starts verifying the information to be burned but I get the error message and the DVD is ejected.
In the Finder I can't burn using a burn folder or directly for a particular file. If I copy and paste things at first appear to work. The files seem to be on the DVD after I have pasted them onto the DVD. I move the old copied files from the Finder to the trash, I empty the trash and then usually quit the finder to update the information under the HD icon as to amount of space left. The amount of space doesn't change so I will reboot to see if that updates the amount of space left information. After reboot, the information hasn't changed and the DVD I thought I burned is now empty and there is a burn folder on the desktop called 'untitled folder x' that contains the files I thought I had copied and pasted to the DVD within it. (The files I had burned are in the new burn folder).
I've tried different media, different , manufacturers of media etc.
    Anyone have ANY ideas ?

    Hi appleboyperry-
    Can you burn a CD?
Sounds like the DVD part is no longer functioning. It is possible to replace the optical drive yourself.
    Luck-

  • Error burning to LaCie drive from DVD Studio Pro 3...

Whenever I attempt to burn a DVD to my LaCie d2 DVD+-R drive, using DVD Studio Pro 3, I get an 'error #6' and the burn is unsuccessful. At the 'formatting' stage the process hangs up after a couple of minutes and returns an error message with the following text:
"The recording device reported error #6: Power on, reset, or bus device reset occurred. (0x29, 0x00.)"
Has anyone else experienced this? I have used both DVD+R and DVD-R discs. I have used the device on two different G4s--a 733MHz, and a dual-1.25GHz. I have worked with the source files on the hard drive, as well as on an external drive. The size of the project is nowhere near capacity for a DVD.
But the result is always the same: Burn aborted, 'error #6.' I'm at my wit's end. Thanks for any suggestions or insight...

    hey terry
you say you are directly burning from DVDSP to your lacie drive, correct? is it an internal drive? did you recently replace your drive?
if it is, go to "about your mac" on finder and click on "more information".
look at your ATA and or "burner" (something to that effect) and make sure that is "vendor supported" because if it is not, iTunes, DVDSP and iDVD will have problems burning media directly from those apps.
the easiest way to fix this is with "patchburn". it will make your drive compatible or "supported" by able and you will have NO problems buring.
question: do you have another burning program (such as toast)? do you have problems burning from the finder?

  • Error -50 when burning a DVD to an external FW Burner using Toast 10

I just upgraded to a refurbed 2009 iMac 27" i7, and it of course has one fw 800 port.
My Samsung SH-S222L dvd drive is in an Ezquest Monsoon FW 400 external case that worked
flawlessly with my PM G4. I also have a brand new Seagate FreeAgent Go
500GB drive, that has two fw800 ports on it.
I connect thusly: from the iMac to the Seagate via fw 800, and then out of the
seagate to the external dvd drive, using an fw 800 to fw 400 cable.
The imac recognizes two devices on the FW chain.
However, when I try to burn a dvd on the EzQuest,
Toast Titanium 10 reports an error -50, and says that it cannot burn the disc,
however, Toast somehow sent the command over and the drive
begins burning the disc, even though Toast said it could not,
due to the Mac OS -50 error.
2 mins later ( burning at 12x on Taiyo Uden Media) the disc is done.
And yet I cannot control the drive ( eject the disc)
from the iMac, because it still reports error -50.
Turning off the Drive and turning it back on,
will mount the burned disc, and then I can eject it as normal.
    So, my questions:
    1. is FW on Snow Leopard machines THAT flaky?
Or does it have to do with the "piggyback"...going FW 800 to FW 800 to FW 400,
that could be causing the issue?
    2.
Could the issue be that the error -50 is occurring because
the iMac has TWO DVD drives, an internal and an external one?
That Toast or Snow Leopard is making the iMac not talk to the right
drive, and it has a momentary lapse and that causes the error -50?
I'm at the point now tonight when I get home trying to see if just
the drive BY ITSELF will work via FW ( going 800 to 400)
and that perhaps the issue is that it cannot handle more than
one device on the onboard FW port?
At least I figured I'd give it a shot before getting a new external case,
a USB only one ( this one is FW 400 only) and just using a USB external burner,
and only have the one FW drive on the bus.
    Any help would be appreciated....
    terryj

    Solved it---
the problem was the EZQuest Monsoon FW400 External Enclosure.
Turns out that even though it has an Oxford 911 chipset,
the firmware is not compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6.4.
I found this out after working with both Apple and OWC
trying to rectify it. Now to rma the Monsoon case,
and switch to a USB 2.0 external case for the drive....

  • Decode error when outputting to file to later burn to DVD

I have an MPG file created in Ulead Media Studio Pro (which I can no longer run as it does not run on Windows 7 which my new PC uses).  I created a new project in PE9, added the mpg file, dragged it to the timeline and told Premiere to change the project settings to match. It is now PAL DVD Upper field first.  There is no red line on the timeline above the clip.  When I try to output it to a file for later burning to DVD I get a decode error around a particular frame.  When I go near that frame in the monitor window and step forward one frame at a time it moves smoothly until it gets to the frame in question when there is a noticeable delay from pressing the arrow button and the time counter updating to the next frame number.  The MPG plays fine in Windows Media Player and VLC player - it shows a cross fade transition at the spot that fails in PE9.  Is there anything I can do to fix this?  I don't have independent DVD authoring software as otherwise that would be an option.

Depending on the source footage, I have found that some other programs do a better job of handling them. For that reason, I have CyberLink PowerDirector, and Magix MovieEdit Pro on my computer. Actually, since I use PrPro for most of my work, that is also why I bought and installed PrE - it handles footage well, that PrPro chokes on.
Personally, I am less comfortable actually editing in PowerDirector, or MovieEdit Pro (older versions of both), but PrE is closer to PrPro, so I rely on it as my "first step," and the other two NLE's more as just converters.
Still, if another tool in your video-editing toolbox, works better, there is zero shame in using it. Sometimes an adjustable spanner is all a mechanic needs, but when they require a universal socket with a "wobbly" extension on their Snap-On rachet, then the adjustable spanner goes back into the toolbox.
Most of all, I am glad that you are able to produce the desired results. That is what it's all about.
Thanks for reporting your workflow and your success. Good luck.
