Error Circle

Satellite P55-A5312 with pre-installed Windows 8 upgraded to 8.1
System won't boot and displays an error message about PC Needs to be Repaired with details about some boot file missing.  Recommendation is to boot to recovery media, etc.  The only option is to hit ESC to go to BIOS settings.
Trouble is, neither DVD nor USB versions of recovery media will boot.  When I change the boot order so that either DVD or USB is on top, it boots right back to the error message.  If I power it off, then back on, same thing.  Won't boot from recovery media and goes right back to the error message.
The only thing that broke this cycle and allowed the recovery media to boot (so the PC could be reset or image restored) was to change the boot mode from UEFI to CMS.  Only then would the recovery media boot.
Is this normal behavior for UEFI BIOS?  I would think not.

Are you trying to drag and drop?
If so, so you have the manually manage music box checked?

  • Power View HTML 5 error

    Hello,
We have the E3 license enabled. When we view our Power View reports online, the default view is
in Sliverlight, and there is an option on the B.R.H.S to switch to the HTML 5 view. In the HTML 5 view, we can no longer pop-out (expand individual objects).
When we share the Power View dashboard, from the generated link, the default view is in HTML 5, even when using IE. When within this view the report does not display correctly (not the same layout as in the Silverlightview) & no longer has the pop-out options
that are available when viewing in the Silverlight option.
How can we share the workbook so that it can be viewed with the Silverlight view, as is the case when we view it from One Drive, Power BI or our SharePoint team site.
Other times when I generate a share link to a workbook, when viewing the Power View sheet, it displays an Power View image with a red error circle icon.
Your help with these issues is appreciated.

  • No Audio Output Device - HP Pavilion DV6707us

I, like many I have read about, am having an issue with the audio on my work laptop. It is an HP DV6707us running a Windows 7 64-bit operating system.
The issue is basically this; an intermittent failure of my audio device.
Scenario 1: Most times, I will turn on my computer and there will be a red error circle over my speaker icon in the system tray. When highlighted with the mouse, it will say No Audio Device Installed. The audio won't work and if I go through the message center troubleshooter, it just sends me in the direction of downloading a driver. Please note though, that when the system doesn't detect the audio device, it will not let me install the driver anyway. So that solution doesn't work.
Scenario 2: There is a rare instance, maybe 5-10% of the time, where I start my computer from shut down and the audio is there. There is no driver installation as you would get with new hardware or anything like that. I am greeted by my custom start-up sound and all seems well, aside from the fact that sound only plays from the right speaker. [I have tried with another speaker set-up too and tested connections, so I know the speakers are physically fine.] Either way, it never lasts. If I so much as graze the quick touch volume control, I lose the sound. If I click on the speaker to adjust the audio, the volume slider freezes and I lose sound within a couple of seconds. I can do nothing, and suddenly the sound is gone. [The error doesn't appear right away.] Sometimes the loss of sound will be characterized by lag relating to some sort of audio element, such as the volume slider, or delay in the start of any media players.
    Other information:
I have attempted re-installs multiple times.
I have restored my system multiple times.
I have installed multiple operating system configurations.
I have purchased and installed many new parts, but to no avail.
I have tried to contact HP multiple times, but they don't give a snit because it is now out of warranty. [Though when this began, it was within warranty. The only reason it wasn't addressed so deep is because it was my father's at the time.]
After researching forums such as this for the last 6 months, I am finding that this is a very common problem among the Pavilion 6700 series, but a solution has not been found.
The only answer anyone has given anywhere is to redownload a driver or run system restore. It doesn't work. If that is your suggestion, don't bother.
I find that an issue that seems to be somewhat related in the crashing of my Shockwave player when the audio fails. I have uninstalled this to explore that possibility, but it did not help.
I have taken this computer apart multiple times, cleaned and inspected every inch of each piece. [Just to be clear, I am a trained technician. This is done correctly and with proper tools.]
If there is anything else, I will edit the original post to add them, but this is all the pertinent information I can provide. If there is anyone out there who can even think of a possible problem, that could be affecting my computer, as well as the possible 100+ people I've read about, please let me know in the hopes that I can get an adequate solution. It would also be nice to stop having to refer to it as a piece of [garbage] and using it as a warning of the horrible quality of HP products when my friends or customers ask how I feel about it.
    Thank you in advance!

  • My Mac Only turn's on to the Blue start up screen... Help?

My computer was thinking so I re-started it and now Its been over 2 days and when I turn it on, It sits on the blue screen and just has the thinking symbol going.
The picture changes from the apple, to a folder with a question mark in it or a error circle.
I have know Idea why this happened or what to do about, Can I press something to go into a setup menu like on a PC?

Some of the troubleshooting suggestions involve holding down certain keys or key combinations BEFORE the computer actually starts up. Try the PRAM reset first:
Shut down the computer. Then press the power button to turn it on and immediately press Command-Option-P-R and keep these keys depressed until you hear a second chime. It wouldn't hurt to wait for a third chime. Be sure to have the keys depressed before the first chime sounds.
A PRAM reset will often fix some things that prevent the computer from booting up.
If no joy, try holding down "X" as the computer starts up. This might help it to find the OS.
If still no joy, try booting from your install disc. While the computer is on, put the disc in the optical drive. Then shut down the computer. To boot to the disc, hold down "C" after pressing the power button.
If you get to the install disc, select you language and then go to the menu bar > Utilities and select Disk Utility from the menu bar. Highlight your hard drive by brand name and go to the first aid tab. Click on "Repair Disk" at the bottom right and repeat until there is nothing left to repair. Check also that the SMART status is verified. If you get any errors that Disk Utility can't fix or if SMART is not verified, report back with what they are and don't go any further.
At this point, you have a couple of choices. You can quit the installer and see if you can restart from your hard drive. You will get a window that allows you to select your hard drive as the startup disk. Select the hard drive as the startup disk and the "Restart". If you can you are done.
If you can't, then you may want to try reinstalling the OS, using the Archive and Install feature, which should preserve all your setting and data. It would be prudent to have a good up to date backup before reinstalling the OS, just to safeguard agains anything going wrong.
Try these key combinations and see if you can get past the blue screen.
    Good luck!

  • Can't modify Mavericks iCloud settings from System Preferences or connect Mail to iCloud

I tried Keychain for the first time the other day, went away for the weekend and forgot my master password #*#@$!
In the process of trying a few different fixes I've changed my Apple ID password.  Most things are working well.
I can log in to iCloud via a browser using my Apple ID & new password.  I can also log in to itunes using the new password.
When I select iCloud from System Preferences and purposefully enter a wrong password, it tells me 'Incorrect password' in red font.  But when I enter the correct password, it is not rejected but the 'Enter Password' option remains on display and all the iCloud options/checkboxes remain greyed out.
In Mail, there is an error symbol against the iCloud inbox.  When I click on the error/circle symbol I am told 'Mail can't connect to the iCloud account "iCloud" ' and am requested to enter the password, which I do but with no effect.
Contacts has a similar problem and displays an error circle next to the iCloud account list, as does Calendar.
Any ideas out there?  Please help me!!
Is there any way to use Time Machine to revert to earlier settings?

If you are running Mt. Lion download and apply the OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.2 (Combo).  It includes the iCloud preference pane for the System preferences.
If you're running Lion then download and apply the OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client Combo) as it also includes the iCloud preference pane.

  • IPhone 3g - GPS No longer functioning

    Hi,
I noticed a few days ago that I could no longer get a GPS lock using my iPhone 3G. Google Maps would provide a cross hairs location, but never a 'blue dot' indicating GPS lock. I have several other GPS apps installed, including iTrail, Trackthing and GPSKit. In each case these apps each showed no GPS lock, and no position accuracy greater than about 125 meters - which seemed to be location information based on wi-fi triangulation rather than GPS.
I originally attributed this to a software problem. I saw various references to turning 3G on and off / turning wifi on and off / resetting the network settings on the Phone etc. in these forums and elsewhere. I tried every one to no avail.
Finally I decided a complete firmware and software refresh might do the trick. As I was running firmware 2.2 at the time, I connected the phone to iTunes on my MacBook Pro and upgraded the firmware to 2.2.1, and restored all the apps back to it.
After this upgrade the phone was still unable to obtain a GPS lock (whether in Google Maps or any other GPS / location aware app) despite being left outside with a clear view of the sky for over 15 minutes at a time. It would get a lock using celltower and wifi triangulation, but only to an accuracy of 125 metres at best as before. Certainly no 'blue dot' in Google Maps.
Still thinking this might be a software error, I have now reset the phone completely using iTunes, and have not restored the apps onto it. It now has just firmware 2.2.1 (activated through iTunes) and that's it. Again I have tried getting a 'blue dot' GPS fix in Google Maps, but despite another 20 minutes basking in my garden, the phone still will not get a GPS lock. Again, wifi / celltower is the best it will get.
I am now thinking that it is a hardware problem, and that the GPS hardware in my phone is not working for whatever reason. Before I take the phone back to an Apple store, can anyone recommend anything else that might get it working?
    Thanks,
    G

Out of curiosity, how did they test/verify it? My GPS is no longer accurate, it gets the general location with an error circle of varying size, but rarely a nice radar blip lock. My local apple store is in the mall, so I don't know what kind of GPS accuracy they would expect in there anyway. I did take some screenshots of my big error circle while driving the major highway in the area.
Anybody know what would cause it to lose accuracy? Again, it gets my general area, but not nearly as well as it used to.
    Thanks

  • Hi, odd error in my code with a draw circle method

Hey, I am a first year computer science student who uses java in class.
We have recently been playing with guis
I have created code that when it runs it draws random circles with random gradiants.
However, the code will sometimes draw a random square, any ideas.

well, let me explain some more. Its more of an irritation, then a crippling error....
The squares are quite clear. I mean, its not like a small circle that looks squareish, I have seen a square appear and it could be larger than the circles that I see.
It is also very rare, so yeah, it could have something to do with the random aspects.
It just kinda bothers me since nither me, my classmates, or my professor can figure out why this happens and no one else has mentioned this problem.

Just upgraded my iPad to IOS5 and when the download was completed, a window said that there was an error and it could not restore.  Now I have a black screen with the Apple logo and the circle lines.  None of the buttons respond. Help, please!!

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Maybe this will let the iPad reboot and then you may need to restore again but see if this helps to start the iPad first.

  • After it downloaded it had a circle and line through it- and it won't work. i get an error code (-10661) and it says it cannot be launched. whats going on?

i followed all the instructions for downloading firefox. when i tried to drag it into the applications folder it had a circle and line through the icon. it copied into applications successfully, but it won't launch. this mac is really old, G4 from 2000 i think (hand me down) alot of applications will not work with this computer (flashplayer for one, adobe updates ect) because it is so old. what can i do?

Are you getting an error message number with that error message? If so, what number are you getting, please?

  • CIRCLE w/ Line thru it. DO NOT ENTER error.

I have since replaced this MMD d-125 but can't get over that it might be easily solvable. Simply put it starts out as usual grey apple w/ the time circle spinning underneath apple icon......but after a minute you realize something is wrong and between 3-7 minutes it will spin then ultimately freezing up on this grey circle w/ line / slash thru it. I have other MACS - PCs die, fry, just fail but it usually means i get NOTHING on the monitor.
-If i hold OPTION down on start i do get my HD options. But when i try booting from a disc that same error. I have old Hardware test [1.2.6] that did reveal an error on startup. the code was (post/16/4096).......this does give me some hope, the system is doing things but the fact i can't boot from a CD points to motherboard issues. i want to be smart about this, an apple cert. repair wants $60 and i replaced this once $2400 system for $400, yeah i know....but thats why i want to repair it myself by finding some 'repair' app or is there a way to completely 're-set' the hardware part ? what is Nortain ? or any other apps that can diagnose and repair, or other ideas ie : PR reset, keys you hold down on boot that bring me to startup and then i reinitialize it......i don't know. It hard to let go when i did some cool stuff on that MAC and its nice to have a back up.
    any ideas ?
