Error Code 0x80040fb3 - FIX (8520)

It got ERROR CODE 0x80040fb3 after I updated my desktop software to version 6. I tried to sync with Outlook (2007) and before it completed I got this error message.
I uninstalled and went back to previous version. That didn't work.
I reinstalled everything and by this time the desktop software (new version) would not even connect to my BB (Curve 8520). Thought I was toast and was getting ready to go back to my old Palm Pilot system.
Then someone suggested REMOVING MY BATTERY then try again.  Believe it or not, that fixed it.
I did, however, make sure that my first sync with Outlook was a ONE WAY sync that over-wrote the data (in the desktop software setup). After I had it sync successfully I put it back to TWO WAY sync.
Very happy to have this working again - hope this helps others having the same problem!

I have the same problem with BB 8900 Curve.
Just today I installed the new BB Desktop SW 6.0
I did more or less all I red on blogs. But doesn't work.
Thanks for help.

  • DM 6-y address Book Sync leads to error code 0x80040fb3

DM 6-y address Book Sync leads to error code 0x80040fb3.  I have done the following:
rebooted 6000+ tijmes (or mabe a bit less than that)
performed a security wipe on my device
reinstalled DM 6 software several times
Had "I-Yogi" technicians try to fix
    Used "cellrepair service"
Bottom line--I'm not a computer guy.  I just want my BB9550 Storm to be able to sync with outlook.  Calendar, Memo and Tasks sync with no problem.  Address books always stops after 121 records are synced and then I get the error code.
Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results.  I'm now insane and don't know what to do.

    That is certainly one option.
If you want to continue, here is a KB for activating advanced logging to see if that provides you with anything useful:
KB01451How to turn on advanced synchronization logging if a wired synchronization fails
I've also heard on these forums that if you export your contact list from Outlook (to CSV, ASCII or something else), the order they come out in is the same order that the synchronization works in...which might better help you identify the offending record (which you could then delete and re-create).
    Good luck!

  • Blackberry Error Code 0x80040fb3

I have been successfully periodically syncing my Blackberry Storm to my Desktop Manager for months. Today I repeatedly received an error mid-way through the sync:
Blackberry Error Code 0x80040fb3.  I have re-booted both the computer and device with no success.
The Storm is a model 9530 and the Desktop Manager is v4.7.
Would appreciate learning whether other's have had this problem and how to fix it. Thanks. -SL

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
There are 3 public KBs that reference that error code. I suggest you go here:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/searchEntry.do
and search on the code, then inspect the results for anything useful.
Further, DTM 4.7 has been updated...the current version is 5.0.1.28 and is fully compatible with all the same PIMs as 4.7. You might consider updating. You can DL versions here:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
I do suggest taking, with your current version, a full backup before changing anything so that you can be sure you have a source file to recover from...one never can be too careful.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Popular Error Code 0x80040fb3

    Greetings Folks!
    This is my first post.
I have been reading the web and many, many, many, (read: ad nauseum) the various solutions to addressing this error message.
Each time I try and sync my address book, I get "Error encountered. Error code - 0x80040fb3. Check documentation."
I have tried pretty much everything I could find out there including wiping my device clean of every last morsol of infomation.
    I have tried a hard reset;
    Filling in First, Last, & Company name on EVERY contact in Outlook;
I have cleared the device memory of both the address book and the calendar; and
I searched and followed info on enabling advanced sync to figure out which contact was giving me the probblem.
Of course the latter was too convuluted with info for me to understand.
I am using the 8830 and have nebver had a problem with this since very recently. Sometimes when I try a sync, the record sync will stop at the same place and others it will go further into the number of records before telling me to beat it with the error code.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    thbanks much in advance.

    Hi,
    Let's try this:
perform a clean uninstall of the DM
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB11320&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
Install this version of DM 4.2.2
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB05468&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
Take these steps into consideration when installing, and kill all firewalls and virus checking.

  • Error code 0x80040fb3

I have a BB 8310, installed the latest updated Desktop manager and keep getting error code 0x80040fb3 when the sync is updating the CALENDAR from Outlook 2007.  My address contacts update fine.  It always shows the error code on record no. 74 out of 280.   I looked on the log and deleted the first fail update repeatedly, but it still errors out on record 74.  This is very frustrating - Does anyone else have this problem when updating the calendar for Outlook 2007?

  • Desktop Manager Error Code: 0x80040fb3

Recently during sync I get the subject error code.  It occurs while updating the contacts portion of the sync process, the first, so sync never completes.  Has anyone experienced this error code?  If yes, what was the fix.
I am using Desktop Manager Ver, 5.0.1.37
I also had set sync for Outlook to overwrite all Device information, since I had to 'restore' my Storm.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

Hi and welcome to the forums!
    Try the tips listed here:
     KB14818
This issue may be caused by one of the following reasons:
One or more of the contacts in the contact list is missing information or has invalid characters in the First, Last, or Company name fields.
The Attendee status field cannot be read in a calendar item on Microsoft Outlook.
Tasks were edited in Microsoft Outlook and the changes were accepted during the synchronization process.

  • Error code 21 fix?

My Iphone is stuck in recovery mode, itunes detected it and asked for a restore. I  then proceed to get the error code 21. My phone isnt jailbroken or anything. It all started when my phone randomly shut off earlier and kept rebooting every 3 seconds. Any programs I can use to save me $$ and a trip to apple? Thanks

First of all he must confirm that his Hosts file is OK. He never confirmed.
It also appears that iPhone "got the iPhone 4s from my friend, and when she gave it to me it didn't have a back on it. "
It could be hardware damage ? You already told him in your earlier reply
"If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service."

I'm using ExportPDF and when I try to access a file to convert from pdf to word document, it won't allow but doesn't give me an error code so I can find out why it won't open.

    Hi Harri,
Would you mind providing more information?
What was the original document type before becoming a PDF? Is it a scanned copy?
    How large is the file?
Looking forward to hearing back from you.

  • Error code - 0x80040fb3. Check Documentation

    Hello.
I continue to get the error message listed in the subject each time I try to sync me device with my computer.  I tried uninstalling all of my Blackberry software, then re-installing and I still contine to get the error message (which makes me thing it is an issue with my phone).
Any thoughts/sugeestions on how to fix this?
    Much thanks.

OK...then the next thing to try is a complete start over of the desktop software...here's a procedure:
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.

  • BB 8830 Error code 0x80040fb3 when downloading contacts from outlook to BB

I tried many times to replace all my bb contacts with outlook contacts and keep getting this error message. The blackberry support suggest to run a software update on the blackberry to version 4.6.0.244 but when running the "ckeck for updates" the version 4.5.0.175 is the latest. All my contacts have been deleted from my blackberry but none have been added because of the error. How do I solve this problem? Thank you.

    Hello again,
Sorry for the delay...there was an event this week that consumed pretty much all free time for many who regularly volunteer on these forums.
I'm not sure I'm following you...when I navigate into the VZW download site (via the 2nd link I provided above), I find they are on 4.5.0.186, so I'm unsure where you are seeing that 4.5.0.175 is the latest from VZW nor am I sure how you are winding up back at the BB site...I can easily get, from the VZW site, a download of their latest OS package for your model device.
Nevertheless, if what you are otherwise seeing is telling you that you need to upgrade to 4.6.0.244, then using VZW is moot anyway since they are not supporting a version that high. Consequently, your choice is to move to another carriers OS package that is at the level you require for the fix you say you need. In which case you will need to research all carriers that provide your model BB and see who sells it -- and then use that 2nd link above to find the package you need from whatever carrier has it. Then, still use the instructions provided in the 3rd link, but insert, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion of a file named VENDOR.XML -- it should be at or close to the folders mentioned in step 2.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Sync Problem: "Intellisync error code - 0x80040fb3"

    Hello -
I just got my computer back from a service group after a crash, but all seems to be working properly except Desktop Sync.  I get the error in the Subject bar once it tries to sync Contacts.
I've viewed KB14818, but here's my hesitation:  The step involving Wiping the Device!
I've been updating things in the device only for the last 4 weeks due to the crash and the concept of wiping all that frightens me.  Will it all be restored from the Device backup files on my PC?
    Notes:
    - I HAVE backed up the device onto my PC (via the Desktop Software)
    - I have performed the search for empty Email (1) field and there were none
    - This is a Storm 9550
    - Device Software:  v5.0.0.1015 (bundle 1656, platform 4.5.0.442)
    - Desktop Software:  6.0.1.18 released December 6, 2010 (bundle 21)
    - I'm, using Outlook 2007
Is it safe to do this?!!!
    Thank you,
    Cindi

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
It is safe if you are very very careful and follow the instructions exactly. Any deviation and you indeed risk losing all of your data.
