Error code -120

hi
i'm getting an error code -120 (could not find directory) as i try to import audiofiles from one of my external drives. funny thing: some files i can import, some not. if i open a LP song from that drive, it opens normally. also using quicktime player to open one of these audiofiles works without problem...
i see all the files in the finder and if i copy them to another drive, i am able to import them into logic...
any ideas ?
thanx.

When do you get this error?
Best of luck.

I am editing some files and just tried to save one and I got a MacOS error code -120. I cannot find an explanation for this. What is it? It says "Directory not found" but the directory path shows at the top of the file.

Thanks, Bill. Here's what I get when I try to "save as"

  • Error Code 120 when dealing with locked files

    Here's a weird one.
I've been moving some files around from drive to drive, and have a small pocket of resistance in the form of three folders, all containing locked files.
If I "Get Info" on any given file, I'm told that a) the file is locked, which is greyed out, and b) that "You have No Access" under Permissions. Attempting to change the Owner returns the following error message:
*The operation could not be completed.*
An unexpected error occurred (error code 120).
Any ideas? I can't copy the files to their future home, nor can I delete `em. I've Repaired this disk (no errors found) and Repaired Permissions as well, all to no avail.
    Any insight would be appreciated!

The error code you are getting doesn't quite make sense. According to Mac Error codes, 120 means "The version of the "Mac OS ROM" file is too old to be used with the installed version of system software"--which doesn't seem to have anything to do with anything you are doing.

  • Error Code -120 and saving waveforms

If anyone is experiencing "Error Code -120" inside Logic, or is getting an error that waveforms cannot be saved...
I just experienced this, and found a solution that worked in my case.
These symptoms can be extremely frustrating, because they seem to be permissions related, but you can get these errors even if you have ownership and write access to your Logic session and all associated project files.
Turns out, "Error Code -120" and inability to update waveforms can both be caused by a permissions problem in .Trashes.
In my case, I had a directory inside .Trashes on my project drive:
    /Volume/MyDisk/.Trashes/501
and I didn't have write access to that directory. Created a whole SLEW of problems in Logic and in the Finder, including Error Code -120 and waveform update problems.
Removing that directory solved my problem (after several hours of pulling my hair out), and I thought this might be useful advice for others.
    Cheers!

  • Error code 120 - need a clue

    Hello there,
I keep getting this message when exporting:
    QuickTime Error: -120
I can find no reference guide eon what this error even is. Can someone point me in the right direction please?
    Cheers,

    A couple of suggestions:
    Try to reset Background Processing:
    Compressor main menu>Compressor>Reset Background Processing.
Also make sure your file's name is not too long.
If neaither of these suggestions work tell us more about the source material you are trying to compress, extention, file name, everything

  • QuickTime Error Code Reference

Well, everything was working good. I seem to keep getting a QuickTime Error Code -120 now with every time I try to compress something. Is there a reference guide I might go to, to find what this means?

I believe this particular error was related to a bad driver for my Matrox Compress HD card. (FYI to anyone else out there, you need 1.6 for Leopard, 1.8 for SL). It still would be nice to know if there is a reference for the QT error codes.

  • Can anyone answer why in logic pro X I keep getting a window popping up that says Directory not found, result code= -120, followed by another window saying, Fade update failed, (error -120)?

Can anyone answer, why in Logic Pro X I keep on getting a window popping up saying, Directory not found, result code = -120. Followed by another window saying, Fade update failed, (error -120)?
I am running the latest version 10.0.5 through a Macbook Pro that has just been upgraded to 16GB Ram and a 960GB SSD which has made it as fast as ****. I upgraded because I was experiencing problems before and it was suggested that I didn't have enough Ram?
I am using a Focusrite scarlett 2i4 and an Alesis Q61 midi controller. Weirdly, just trying to put a bass line down on a track using the Alesis, the bass sound goes out of tune with the track during recording only. This is very frustrating! I surely can't be the only one experiencing this?
    Many thanks

    Hi
Time lost could be a problem, but.....
Sadly, I don't think that there are any Apple docs relating to networked storgae issues with Logic. Other than a 'school' or 'business' setup, NAS/OD/AD setups are not usual circumstances for audio.
If the issue is one of data backup & security, it may be enough to automatically backup the students local work folders to the NAS.
If the issue is one of the Users being able to work from any Mac and pick up their files from the server, you are not likely to resolve this problem, without copying the files to the Local Mac.

  • PI 7.11 sp6 system copy Exchange Profile error code: 399

    Experts,
We have a PI 7.1 (EHP1, sp6) PI system based on AIX 6.1 OS and Oracle 11g.
I recently did the standard PI system copy from a prod source (PIP) to a training target (PIT).
I used the most recenty PI system copy guide that is specific for PI 7.1 EHP1
I did not run into any major problems doing the steps of the copy itself.
I did the usual "post" steps, documented in the guide that really are done on any NW system.
Then I got into the specific "PI" post steps and that's where I now have a problem.
I followed all the steps, fixing my RFCs, JCos, Destinations, cleaning up SLD, SLDAPICUST, creating new business systems...etc.
My big problem is with the exchange profile. Yes, it's easy to change all the SIDs and hostnames using the search tool for all the parameters in the exchange profile, but the one I COULD NOT CHANGE was the "ABAP Connection". In there right after the copy was the hostname of the prod system, the client, and the user PILDUSER. I attempted to put the hostname of my target (PIT) system, but I would get the error:
com.sap.rprof.dbprofiles.DBException: RFC call returned an error code: 399
I'm certain the user is NOT locked and the password is correct for PILDUSER. It'll give me a different error if I put the wrong password in, so I know it's hitting my system.
Worse yet, If I left the hostname in there that was set to "prod", then when I changed all the other values in the "parameters" section of the XI profile, then it actually changed my PROD system!!
If I keep the ABAP connection to PIT, then the entire exchange profile disappears for PIT.
I see these errors in the default trace and application log:
    Caused by: com.sap.lcr.api.cimclient.LcrException: CIM_ERR_NOT_FOUND:

+There is problem reading the hostname from the ClusterManager. This could lead to improper wsdl links.#
    SLDCHECK shows this:
Function call returned exception code     3
Access to the XI Profile is currently disrupted.
I can't be the first person to run into this.
SO strange that I can actually plug in either my dev/QA or PROD hostname in the "ABAP connection" box and it WILL ACCEPT IT...but then, it registered my training system as a "non central adapter engine".  I don't want that.
    Any ideas?
Another issue is that the SLD PI information from the PIT system is missing the "Integration Directory".  It has the other 5 entries...Adapter Engine, Domain, Integration Repository, Integration Server,  RWB.
    Thanks for reading this,
    NICK

  • Error Code -36 While Writing to External Drive

I have a 2.16GHz Core Duo MacBook Pro with the 100GB 7200 RPM HDD and 1GB 667 RAM. I am trying to use my MBP with a Western Digital 250GB MyBook Essential external HDD connected via USB 2.0.
The external HDD used to be formatted with FAT32 (I was unaware) and I could read and write small files to the drive with no problem. However, when I tried to copy my iTunes folder to the drive (21.7 GB) I would always get an error soon after the transfer began. The error message reads:
The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "08 Bottle of Blues.mp3" could not be read or written. (Error Code -36).
The message will always come up on the same file. If I delete the file mentioned in the error message, the error will still come up after about the same amount of time has elapsed, but just on a different file.
Recently, I learned that the external drive was FAT32 so I formatted it with Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I still get the same error.
I have tried using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.0b5 and SuperDuper! 2.1.4 and neither application can complete the transfer--using the Mac OS Extended file system. CCC gives me the error:
15:45:02 Error: asr: could not copy /./Applications/AppleScript/Script Editor.app/Contents/Resources/no.lproj/ScriptEditorHelp/gfx/sedebug.jpg; Input/output error

AppleCare support hasn't been able to help me, and I feel like I've searched exhaustively for information about Error Code -36. If anyone could shed some light on my problem and help me backup/copy files to this external HDD I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

In my experience, it was a BAD EXTERNAL DRIVE...
sometimes they are bad (and the one I had was a external USB 120 GB Western Digital) due to fall, or something, and you can format and they work, but they have a place on the disk that is just bad, and freezes the external disk, and it is unable to accept commands.
A way of testing this, is to write to the entire disk..
Doing this will kill the entire drive, but will allow you to verify that you can write to the whole drive... (in addition to erasing everything on it.. )
make sure the disk is mounted in the finder.. and give it a uniqe name... so it will be easy to distinguish in the commands below.
THE FOLLOWING IS INTENDED AS A GUIDE. VERIFY YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING BEFORE YOU DESTROY VALUABLE DATA..
    open the terminal program:
    type the following:
    df -h
you should see all the disks that the are connected to the system. a sample of the output is below:
it does not look so nice, as the font is not monospaced, but on the terminal window it lines up nicely:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
    /dev/disk0s2 186G 124G 62G 67% /
    devfs 97K 97K 0B 100% /dev
    fdesc 1.0K 1.0K 0B 100% /dev
    <volfs> 512K 512K 0B 100% /.vol
    automount -nsl [182] 0B 0B 0B 100% /Network
    automount -fstab [198] 0B 0B 0B 100% /automount/Servers
    automount -static [198] 0B 0B 0B 100% /automount/static
    /dev/disk1s1 466G 463G 2.4G 99% /Volumes/wd-usb-250
in my case the last disk is a WD mybook that I called "wd-usb-250"
now, in the finder, unmount the disk and make sure nothing is accessing it...
notice that the computer thinks that the disk is connected via the path:
    /dev/disk1s1
VERIFY THAT THIS IS THE SAME FOR YOU.. IF NOT THEN USE THE APPROPRIATE DRIVE..
this next step will go and write zero's to the whole drive.. if you are not so adventures you could just read from the entire disk.. if there are major problems then the read will not work either.
SO: to write in the terminal do the following: THIS WILL KILL THE DISK YOU ARE TESTING... INSURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING...
NOTICE HOW IN THE COMMAND BELOW I HAVE /DEV/DISK1 NOT /DEV/DISK1S1.
    TRUNCATE YOUR DEVICE ACCORDINGLY...
    dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/disk1 bs=16m
let it run till it either quits because of a i/o error or says it reached the end of the device.. if it reached the end of the device the device just had zero written to it..
it at the end will tell you how many 16Mb chunks of zero it wrote.. (this is assuming that your disk is a even multiple of 16Mb).
now to test that the device actually works, we can read the whole thing. by issuing the following command in the terminal.
    dd if=/dev/disk1 | hexdump -C
you should get an output that looks like this (with the records being changed to be the size of your disk divided into 16 Mb chunks...:
    00000000 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 |................|

    What is going on>

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
Was it working before the week you have been trying to get it to work ?
It looks like the ports are not open somewhere.
    Difficult to say which end.
The rip (= Remote IP = Buddy) is showing different ports throughout the log.
This could be that they cannot confirm a response from you on the default port of 16402
The Pings are also a bit intermittent and I am not sure why that is.
It does show the Buddy's computer name ...
    o=sophianem 0 0 IN IP4 rip
... so you were nearly connected.

  • Unexpected database connector error---- Error code:-2147467259

Hi, I am using Crystal Report for Eclipse 12.2.208).
My rpt file contains a command with a simple sql query
In eclipse I used this rpt and generated the Jsp file to export the report to Pdf format
But exception is thrown in the following line of Jsp
//Push the Java ResultSet into the report (this will then be the datasource of the report)
    CRJavaHelper.passResultSet(clientDoc, fetchResultSet(driverName, connectStr, userName, password, query), tableAlias, "");
    CRJavaHelper.java
    clientDoc.getDatabaseController().setDataSource(rs, tableAlias,tableAlias);
While replacing the result set I am getting the following error.... Please help me on this.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  I see you recently did an update to your HP Envy 120 and now the front panel is blue with an error code 'B88B514A'.
I would like you to start troubleshooting here: 'Problem with Printhead,' 'Printer Failure,' 'Ink System Failure,' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error M...
'Because there are many variations of these 'Problem with Printhead,' 'Printer Failure,' or 'Ink System Failure' error messages and alphanumeric codes, we have provided a few guided steps to get you to the right troubleshooting document for your error. I hope this helps, if you are still getting the error message, call our technical support at 800-474-6836 as it may be the printers hardware and you would still be covered by factory warranty.
