Error code 1618 when trying to restore ipad2

my ipad2 was working fine until yesterday when I went to use it and was telling me to activate and when I tried to it says the activation server is unavailable to try through itunes. So when I tried that it said that Ihad to restore the ipad so I did 3 times, First I got error code 1611 and code 1618 the 2 times after that.
Now the ipad is just a blank screen and itunes says that the ipad is in recovery mode.  Any thoughts?

Just thought I would post that I am having pretty much the exact same issue.  Everything was working fine until I connected to iTunes to update the ipad firmware.  Now I'm stuck in restore mode and get code 1618 each time I try to restore.

I have an iPod 2nd gen that keeps having an error code 9 when trying to restore. Any ideas on how to fix?

    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • I'm getting an error code 9 when trying to restore apple tv 2 thru iTunes any suggestions?

I'm getting an error code 9 when trying to restore apple tv 2 thru iTunes any suggestions?  the error comes up when itunes tries to verify the update.  I hook the apple tv back to tv and says I need to connect to itunes.  the original problem was the power went out and the apple tv light kept blinking.  I tried restarting it but would not work.  Any Suggetstions?  Thank you.

Try again tomorrow.  All Apple servers are undergoing a huge number of hits.  I think tomorrow or even the next day, all upgrade and activation servers will be in better shape.
Any time millions of people want to do exactly the same thing online, there's always trouble, LOL.

error code 3194 when trying to restore my ipad?

    Hey bfcjamie,
Thanks for the question. Error 3194 usually occurs when iTunes is unable to communicate with the update-and-restore server. The following articles may help to resolve your issue:

Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
    1. Install the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Check security software and ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow these steps for assistance with security software.

    4. Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

  • How do you resolve error code 36 when trying to restore an iPad that has been reset to original settings?

How do you resolve error code 36 when trying to restore an iPad that has been reset to original settings?

    MB-
As far as I can tell, Error Code 36 is an "I/O Error".  It may mean you have a bad USB cable between the iPad and your computer, or the cable was not plugged in firmly.
See if this helps with your Restore:  <iOS:  Unable to Update or Restore>.

  • Error Code 14 when trying to restore iPad on iOS 4.2.1

First off sorry if this is the wrong section to post this in. No other section looked close to my problem.
So I got a new iPad for Christmas, I updated it to 4.2.1, and I synced it. Last night I had to restore it, but when I tried to restore it I got "iPad can not be restored (14)" something along those lines. So I put my iPad into DFU or recovery mode, still don't know the difference, and it said "an iPad in recovery mode has been found" so I hit restore and it still gave error code 14 after all that. It wasn't jailbroken, my dad's computer works fine I can restore anything on his no problem but I would rather just be able to make it work on my own personal computer. I have tried using a different USB cable with a different USB jack or outlet or whatever and that didnt work. I'm using iTunes 10.1
This is really frustrating. Does anyone have a solution?

Try here since error 14 is one of the listed errors:

I'm getting similar. Did this happen after you upgraded iTunes 10.1.2? It seems to be the culprit. I've been trying to download the older version to test out my theory.

  • Iphone 4 is stuck in recovery mode and gives error code 2001 when trying to restore from itunes...any help?

Just downloaded the new software from itunes today for my iphone 4.  While talking on the phone while plugged into macbook (charging) my call was dropped and then my phone turned off.  Itunes now says it found my phone and it was in recovery mode and I need to restore it.  When I try to do that I get an error code of (2001) and I am unable to go any further.  any help from anyone please?  Thanks.  Ben

    Thats okay
Are you using a Mac or PC? The step about ports, it not really relative to your issue (error 2001)
    Apple wrote (in TS1275)
(2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on) If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. Learn how to reset the SMC. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue continues, it may be related to conflicting security software.
So I would try an SMC reset if you are on a Mac. But mainly, try a different USB cable if you have one.

    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
