Error code 2330 Windows XP/Itunes 9 install

Downloaded Itunes 9 and when trying to install I get an error code 2330 from Windows. Tried the quick fixes suggested by Itunes Support but problem still exists. Any ideas on how to solve?

Thank You B Noir for the helping hand in reapiring my problem in loading Itunes.
I ended up working with an Apple Service Tech who had me delete all the programs associated with the Apples Itune install. Quicktime, Apple Application Support, Apple Modile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Software Update.
Each of the programs were un-installed with no issues until we started the uninstall of Apple Software Update, which your note indicated could be a cause for the install issue.
Using the Windows program "Fixit" downloaded off the Microsoft website, we determined that the registry keys for this program had become corrupted. We used Fixit filtering down to an install repair module inside if Fixit to remove the damaged program from my PC's registry then Fixit uninstalled the Apple Software Update program.
Once this was done, we were able to successfully instal Itunes using the latest Itunes install packaged found on the Apple website.
Thanks Again for your advice.

  • Error Code 2330 Installing iTunes 7.7

Have presently iTunes 7.6.2.9 installed on my laptop. It works.
In order to sign up for MobileMe need to download 7.7. It downloads fine, but when I go to install I get the following message: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2330."
    Any suggestions??

+i receive "error code 2330." I figured i needed to uninstall Quicktime. I have deleted all but two folders. When I try to delete the "QT System" file, i receive "Error 0x80070091: This directory is not empty."+
Those messages are consistent with file damage or disk damage near the files.
So let's try doing a Vista disk check over the drive that the grumpy file is located on.
    Quit all running applications.
    Go "Start > Computer"
Right-click the drive (on which that grumpy file is located), and select "properties".
    Click the "Tools" Tab.
    Click the "error-checking" button.
Check both of the disk options in the dialog that comes up.
Does the disk check find/repair any damage? If so, can you delete that folder now?

    Although it's a better bet with a 2330 than a 2349, I'd try running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • ITunes 7.4.3 error code 2330

    Hi,
My iTunes (7.4.2.4) has been acting really funny lately- you click on a song to play it, and all of a sudden the album art and track information disappears (it still knows what track number a song is, but it forgets how many tracks are on a CD.) So, like any good computer user, I download the latest version of iTunes, hoping it will resolve the issue. I try to run the installer, and it gets most of the way thru the install before it comes up with error code 2330. Does anyone have an explanation for this? Does anyone know what 2330 means? Also, I tried to uninstall the old version of iTunes through Windows, and it wouldn't let me. Some sort of error there. Any help would be appreciated, because I'm dead without iTunes!

So I looked at all that information (actually my research of the problem had already led me to two of those pages, but thanks for the suggestions), and my iTunes symptoms are looking fairly similar, but none of the given solutions are working. It may be helpful to state that I was able to get the old version of iTunes to load (once) and it came up with a window that said
"Warning! iTunes was not properly installed. If you want iTunes to be able to retrieve CD information from the Internet, you need to reinstall iTunes."
Also, it seems to help to restart my computer and let it run chkdsk. This usually allows me to open iTunes once. This is frustrating.

  • Error code 0x80070BC9 when trying to install itunes

I'm getting error code 0x80070BC9 when trying to install iTunes

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 80070BC9, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)

  • Vista and itunes...error code 2330, please help

I have had this computer for a few months and have no issues downloading anything except for itunes : / I am on a Dell 1535 with 32 bit vista.
When I go to install itunes/quicktime from apple.com, the installer will get through itunes and then about 1/4 way thru quicktime, it stops and gives me the Error Code 2330. It then rolls it back. I have also tried to install quicktime first and then itunes but I continue to get the same error code.
I have contacted Dell who wants to charge me $200 to even TALK to me about this issue, let alone solve it. I have also spoken with apple and we did a few troubleshooting things like:
    - the microsoft clean up installer
    - installing under a guest account on computer
    - applying the misconfig and restarting
I need to call apple back to try some more options but I also wanted to see if anyone on here has had similiar issues and how they solved it.
Each time I tried to install itunes after all of this, the same error code would come back.Every time I install it, I also uninstall it but I have a feeling I am not cleaning it off the computer completely and this may be why it is not working properly for me. Although the VERY first time I tried to install, I received this message as well so maybe that isn't the issue.
I am not a super wiz on the computer but I know the basics, if anyone can suggest what I can do, it would be a huge help!! I know they are compatible and it shouldn't be this complicated to download a simple program, ugh!!
Thanks in advance for your help and happy holidays!

I have the same problem. i have a dell xps m1530 and i continually get a 2330 error message. I took uninstalled itunes when i first got the problem a few months ago and now quicktime won't unistall and i get a 2330 error. I've tried the same things you have and a few more. I've used CCleaner and i've tried using as many help sources from apple but nothing seems to help. Its bothers e that no one has been able to help me. I've called in and no one helps. I hope that someone can help us in this problem.

  • I have error code 2330 when i tried to download itunes 10.5, how do I fix the problem?

I have error code 2330 when I tried to download itunes 10.5. Different sites I have visited give different solutions and most seem to indicate removing the current itunes program then reinstalling the new 10.5. I did try to remove the program but it took a long time and I had to reboot the computer. Has anyone had the same issue and how did they fix the problem?

I was having this problem with my wife's computer today so I did a Check Disk from the command prompt. (start/run then type chkdsk) let it do its thing then restart windows and it does some other BS on the start up. Relaunch itunes and then retry to download. I went to the apple website and click on the download and saved the file to my desk top then ran it from there. Let me know if you have the same luck. -Mike

  • Internet Explorer 9 not showing as not installed when using Windows Update - Error: Code 9C48 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

I built a few new Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 VMs today and ran into a problem where Windows Update is not detecting the fact that Internet Explorer 9 is already installed. Internet Explorer 9 keeps showing up as an available update when
using Windows Update. When I try to install it as a test I get the error message: Code 9C48 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.
My normal build procedures include applying all the patches for the OS prior to any other work on the servers. The way I like to do the patching is to do every update other then IE9 in the begininng and once all the other updates have been
completed, install IE9 and then patch it if there are updates available. I followed this procedure on every build for the last year and I have not run into any issues until today. The only difference today is the latest patches that were released yesterday
April 10th, 2012. To test the theory that it may be one of the latest patches, I reinstalled Windows from scratch making sure to format the disks and then I installed IE9 right after the OS install without any other updates. Once the
server was rebooted, I checked Windows Update and Internet Explorer 9 still showed up as update (Not the Cumulative Update which normally shows up after an IE9 install) and yes, I did make sure to click the 'Check for Updates' link before I looked just
in case. My next test was to patch a couple of the servers I had built prior to April 10th, 2012. Those servers did not have any issues with the latest updates and they are not experiencing the same behavior as the newly built servers.
I ended up comparing the IE9 Version on the cleanly install OS (No updates were installed except IE9) and the servers I built last week which were patched. The versions are exactly the same.
My findings above lead me to believe that there is a problem with the latest IE9 install package (which includes the latest cumulative update) and the Windows Update detection component.
I guess I am looking for someone to report this up the chain to get this fixed so no one else runs into this problem. I know in some cases we may not be able to see additional IE9 updates until this is resolved.

I just started having the same problem.
I was creating a new VM in Vsphere from our 2008 R2 SP1 image and it hasn't been updated and repacked in a while, so i have to install about 60 updates, including IE9.
I went through my normal setup as i had just created 2 VMs and updated them on Monday with no problem.
I got the same error code as you. The install looks like it installed IE9, but the update is still showing up as available in Windows Update.
I deleted the VM, created a new one, chose all updates except IE, then did that and it still shows up again.
Then i deleted the VM, installed just IE 9 and it still shows up as available on reboot.
I have a script that i can use to reset/clear WSUS cache on the computer, (Software distribution folder, and the windows update log, and recreates a certificate), so i tried that and then rebooted and it still showed up.
I then decide ok, maybe the Image got messed up somehow, so i started creating a new 2008 R2 install from scratch last night and chose to update just IE9 as the first install. I did that, rebooted and it didn't show up in Windows Updates, so i though GREAT.
I proceed to kick off the 100+ downloads needed before i left and left the console up.
When i got in to work this morning, the updater seemed stuck on 31 of 102 updates, this one in particular: KB288516. I rebooted the computer, because it wouldn't stop and just seemed stuck since last night, which these updates should only have taken about
an hour to install at most. I log back in and sure enough, it now shows Internet Explorer 9 at the bottom of the update list as being needed for install.
I believe this is Patch Tuesday week, so maybe they screwed up something with the Windows Update detection engine, because it worked fine on Monday when i had to update IE9 on 2 VMs that i created.
