  • Error Code 21 with iPod Touch

Hello, I recently registered my iPod Touch's UDID, and of course tried out iOS 7.  But wanting to go back to iOS 6 for stability I restored to the ipsw, but when I did it went into a recovery loop, so since iTunes didn't seem to be able to fix it I used redsn0w to get out of the loop.  But now with iOS 7 beta 6, which is supposed to be more stable, I figured I'd give it another chance and upgrade again.  But, whether I try to restore into iOS 7 or do an upgrade, it gives me and error code 21 and goes into that recovery loop.  Just for clarification I have an iPod Touch 5th generation, windows 7 ultimate, avast antivirus (error code 21 supposedly is related to anitvirus), and the most recent iTunes as of right now.  Any help or ideas is appreciated, thanks!

These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
You say you have iOS 7. If you are a developer you have access to the private OS 7 developer's forum
iOS 7 Developer forum- Apple Developer
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Error code 3194 on iPod Touch 4g

As i finished downloading the new IOS update i get a 3194 error i tried restarting my laptop and reboot my ipod and i keep on getting the same error any suggestions?

I had this error last night. It seems to be that Itunes is not correctly communicating with the server. I used this website to help fix mine worked ok, but Instead of adding a line I deleted the line int my Host file in windows 7.

    If you mean Error 3194...
    See Here...
Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com
Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • How do i fix error code 3014 on ipod touch 1st generation?

    please help

    Hi justinlee1234,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communties!
Take a look at the article linked below, it provides tips for resolving the 3000-3020 alert messages, which indicate iTunes cannot communicate with the update server.
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

    Resolution
If you see one of these messages and need help updating or restoring your iOS device, install the latest version of iTunes and try to update or restore again. If you need more help, follow these steps.
    Check your hosts file
After you update iTunes to the latest version, check the hosts file to make sure your computer can contact the update server.
If you’re using a Windows computer, follow the steps in this Microsoft support article (note that resetting thehosts file will affect software services that rely on hosts file redirects). If you're using Windows on a business computer, consult your IT department to be sure applications will work correctly after you reset the hosts file.
If you're using a Mac, follow these steps:
In the Finder, choose Applications > Utilities.
    Open Terminal.
Enter this command and press Return:
    sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Enter the password you use to sign in to your computer and press Return. You won't see text appear in the Terminal window when you enter the password. Make sure you use a nonblank administrator password.
Terminal will display the hosts file.
Navigate using the arrow keys and look for an entry containing “gs.apple.com”.
Add the # symbol and a space ("# ") to the beginning of the gs.apple.com entry.
Press Control-O to save the file.
Press Enter when asked for the filename and Control-X to exit the editor.
    Restart your computer.
Try to update or restore your iOS device again.
Address TCP/IP filtering, firewall, or security software
If you have TCP/IP filtering, firewall, or security software installed on your computer, follow these steps.
Follow these steps to configure or temporarily uninstall your security software.
Bypass your Internet router. Some routers might block iTunes from accessing the update server. If you're using a router that isn't manufactured by Apple, try these steps.
Disconnect from your wired or wireless router.
Use an Ethernet cable to connect directly to your modem.
Restart your computer and modem. Contact your Internet service provider for instructions on using your modem.
Be sure you have a working Internet connection by visiting www.apple.com. See these steps for help or contact your Internet service provider.
If your Internet connection is working, try to update or restore your iOS device again.
Restore or update on another computer
Try to restore or update on another computer with a different Internet connection. This will help rule out other issues on your computer that might stop iTunes from communicating with the update server.
Errors 1639, 3000-3020, and 3100-3999 (with the exception of 3194) are sometimes caused by your network settings. If your computer uses a managed network, refer to your network administrator. Proxies, firewalls, and other network security measures can cause these errors. If necessary, find a different network connection to restore the device. For example, if you're restoring at work, try to restore at home or on a friend's computer and network.
